Chapter 15
With everything falling back into their rightful place Kaiser teleported us back home. He saw to it that we each got home safely. He dropped my sisters and I off last. Isa stayed behind as she wanted to speak to him.
"King Kayor sir?"
"Please call me Kaiser dear, you're a friend. A hero."
"I...I'd like to be more than that Kaiser."
"More than a hero?"
"Yes..."
I'm afraid I don't understand."
"Well..."
She looked back at me. I grew confused as well as concerned. She turned back to Kaiser.
"I...I want you to um...when I...what I mean is!-"
As she struggled with her words I read her mind.
"Isa? Are you sure?!" I asked.
"I'm very sure bubba, it feels like the right thing to do."
Kaiser grabbed her hands.
"What feels like the right thing dear one?"
"I...I want you to have my baby...to raise and love...and so one day they can become King or Queen of Galia. I know it's a lot...but because you never were able to have children of your own or even adopt because of Kala, I want you to have my baby after they're born. On the condition I want them to know me, and our family, and I want them to be as close to us as possible, but with you as their father."
I saw a glint in Kaiser's eye. He hugged Isa tightly.
"They shall know everything about you...and I promise anytime you wish to see them or they wish to see you I'll see it done. Bless you child, bless you...and thank you so very much. It is a honor to raise a child of our saviors. What shall I name them?"
"Boy or girl I like the name Jamie. A shorter version of my brother's middle name."
She looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.
"I have at least four more months left of my pregnancy...but will you come and get me when it's time. I'd like for Jamie to be born on Galia."
"Of course, I will check in on you every other week. The child will be very loved. I look forward to seeing you again...Isa."
"Me too."
As Kaiser teleported away I wrapped my arms around my baby sister.
"He's right. That baby will be very loved. That was so brave and generous of you Is."
"I thought about it for a long time while we were with him. I think it'll help Kaiser...you know to be less lonely. I want him to be loved too. He did so much for us."
"I love you sis."
"Back at ya bubba."
"Come on, lets hurry and see Mom and Dad, you know they've worried themselves sick!"
I took Isa's hand and led her back to the cabin our family was still staying in. We told our family the news about Isa giving her baby to King Kaiser. My parents didn't mind the idea of having a grandchild on another planet. After all Rosie and I could have children on Xenon. We finished up our vacation with horse back riding, fishing, visiting the old general store, and a family fun park down by the lake. We spent a good week together away from it all in the mountains. When we got back home we had to go get school supplies, and I had to take my driver's test. Dad taught me pretty well in his old truck. By the time school started I was driving my sisters and I every morning and every afternoon.
This year Harvey was officially a senior and I was a junior. My sisters were now in the 8th grade. My freshman and sophomore year blended together for me, a lot happened I didn't expect. I met Rosie, saved three worlds, lead an army, got my driver's license, discovered intimacy, made new friends, and had a lot of fun. Now I know Harvey had at least 10 months until graduation but it was gonna be so hard for me to see him go. He's always been right there ahead of me. Next year I'll be a senior and my class will be the top dogs of the school. Going through that without Harvey seems unreal. He's grown a lot as a person, and he and Lola have never been closer.
That first day of school I met with Harvey and Lola in the cafeteria for breakfast just before the first bell.
"Hey Bry!" He shouted.
"Hey Harv!"
We shook hands and he quickly pulled me into a hug.
"How's the shoulder?"
"Great! It's healed up now!"
"What did you do to your shoulder babe?" Lola asked.
"It's a long story. Hey Bry, we're going bowling this afternoon you and Rosie want to come?"
"You know we will."
Harvey smiled. I smiled back, then everything went black as a pair of hands covered my eyes.
"Guess who?" A small voice whispered.
"Couldn't be my Rosie could it?"
I heard her laugh. She released my head and I turned to face her. She had cut her waist length hair super short into a bright red pixie cut. She had on a pair of rose petal earrings. I could really see her blueish grey eyes. She was gorgeous.
"Rosie..."
"Aww you hate it?"
"No...no I love it."
She blushed and handed me a small box.
"What's this?"
"Just a little gift...it's been two years since you and I met."
"Two years already? Gosh...and I didn't get you anything."
"Sure you did...that night on Galia."
My face went red all the way to my ears.
"Go ahead open it up."
"Okay!"
I unwrapped it and opened the small box. There was a watch inside.
"Rosie...thank you..."
"Turn it over I had it engraved."
I flipped it over and on the back of the face was a message that read:
"Darling, every second I love you more. With love Rosie."
"Thanks Rosie."
"You're welcome...darling."
I leaned forward and put my forehead on hers. She pecked my lips. I pecked hers then began to make out with her. Harvey cleared his throat.
"Sorry..." I mumbled. "Rosie...we're going to the bowling alley after school, want to come with us?"
"Yeah!"
We kinda picked a bad time to go. As soon as school let out a rainstorm picked up. The wind was blowing like crazy. Bellwood was under both a flash flood warning and a thunder storm warning. That didn't stop us from having fun though, and well deserved fun at that. We decided to glow-bowl.
"Yeah go Lola!" Rosie exclaimed.
Lola had a four pound pink bowling bowl at her fingertips. She rolled it across the floor and got a strike. She let out a scream and jumped up.
"I'm catching up to you Harvey!"
"You got lucky...You're up Bry."
I stood up and grabbed my eight pound yellow ball. The blacklight lit up my shoelaces and my shirt. I was wearing my new watch Rosie gave me. I threw my arm back and rolled the ball. I missed it by four pins.
"Aww too bad Bry, almost...better step back and let a pro show you how its done." Harvey said cockily. I rolled my eyes and sat next to Rosie. Harvey sighed confidently.
"Let me show you ladies how to bowl properly."
"Well we're waiting stud." I said with a smile.
Harvey cleared his throat.
"First you grasp the ball. Then you line yourself up with the pins...not dead center a little to the right. Like so. Then you get a little bit of a speed and you turn your body. Angle it and-"
Harvey started to toss the ball when he tripped and fell backward. The ball went into the gutter and Harvey went down on his backside. We busted out laughing his shoe was untied and none of us had the heart to tell him.
"Oh yeah, yeah, you guys are real pals!"
"We couldn't help it Harv, it was too good to pass up." I snickered. Lola was laughing but she still helped Harvey up.
"Awww baby are you alright?!" She giggled.
"Ha. Ha. It's so funny!"
Lola hid her face in Harvey's shoulder and cackled.
After we finished our game and ate at the snack bar, I had to get Rosie back home. The rain was pouring down on the truck as I drove her home. I tried to park as close to her front door as possible.
"Your castle awaits you Princess."
She kissed me.
"Thank you. I had fun today." She breathed.
"Me too."
"I don't want it to end."
"Well...what do you want to do now? Call your dad, let him know you want to stay with me for a few more hours?"
"Mmm...he won't mind, I don't have to call. He loves you. You take care of me."
"I have too, you're my babygirl."
She got out of the car and ran for her backyard in the pouring rain.
"Hey!"
I chased her getting wet myself. I ran up behind her and picked her up. She cried out and giggled. I spun her around. When her feet touched the ground again I tickled her stomach.
"Bryannn! She pushed me away, and we played tag out in the rain and even danced in it. She allowed me to borrow her dad's clothes, and she changed clothes herself. We sat under a blanket on her back patio watching the rain come down. She put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep. I put my head on top of hers and held her hand. My watch gleaming for all to see.
