Arrival at Sinnoh

One day later in a town in Sinnoh called Sandgem, Professor Rowan was in his research lab at his desk, studying and doing research on the Pokemon in the Sinnoh region. He looks at a table that had three pokeballs sitting on it.

"What am I going to do with you three? I need to get you some trainers to look after you so I can focus on my research. But where am I going to find three trainers on short notice?" asked Professor Rowan. As if fate heard his question, some knocking was coming from the front door. "I wonder who that could be?" He stands up and walks to the door and opens it. Outside was a delivery person standing next to a rather large crate.

"Are you Professor Rowan?" the delivery person asked.

"Yes." Professor Rowan replied.

"I have an overseas delivery here for you." said the delivery person, pointing to the crate. Professor Rowan's eyes lit up.

"Excellent. Those must be the new solar panels I ordered a week ago." said Professor Rowan. The delivery person holds out a tablet and hands Professor Rowan a stylus.

"Sign here, please." said the delivery person. Professor Rowan signs his name and hands the tablet and stylus back to the delivery person. "Thanks, Professor. Have a nice day."

"You as well." replied Professor Rowan. The delivery person gets into his truck and drives away. Professor Rowan looks at the crate and pulls a pokeball out of his front pants pocket. "Machoke, I choose you." Professor Rowan says as he throws the pokeball. The pokeball opens, releasing a mass of light, which forms into a blue, muscular, humanoid pokemon.

"Machoke." says the Machoke. He looks at Professor Rowan, who's gesturing to the crate.

"Machoke. Can you help me get this inside?" Professor Rowan asked.

"Machoke." Machoke responds. It then picks up the crate and starts carrying it inside the lab. Once inside, Machoke sets it down.

"Okay, Machoke. Use Karate Chop to break the crate open." ordered Professor Rowan.

"Machoke!" says Machoke as it raises his arm and brings it down on the side of the crate with a mighty chop, breaking it open. Suddenly, Ed, Edd, and Eddy came stumbling out of the crate, much to Professor Rowan's surprise.

"What in the world?!" exclaimed Professor Rowan.

"Man, it's great to get out of that crate!" said Eddy.

"Who are you three? What were you doing in that crate?" asked Professor Rowan. Ed runs up to him and starts jumping up and down.

"Mister. Is there a bathroom around here? I really, REALLY need to go." said Ed. Professor Rowan looked at Ed with a confused look on his face.

"It's...over there." said Professor Rowan, pointing to a nearby door. Ed quickly runs over to the door, opens it, runs into the bathroom, and slams the door shut. Eddy runs up to door, also jumping up and down.

"I have to go, too! I've been having to go to the bathroom for hours!" said Eddy. Edd soon runs up behind him.

"I, as well." exclaimed Edd. Minutes later, after the Eds 'relieved' themselves, they were sitting in chairs while Professor Rowan was standing in front of them with his arms crossed.

"Now, then. Care to explain why you boys were inside that crate?" asked Professor Rowan. Edd explained to him about the trouble they got in back in the Cul-De-Sac and how they got in the crate to elude the other kids and end up sealed inside it. "Well it seems you three got into a lot of trouble and it was reckless of you to jump into a crate without knowing whether it was empty or not, and if it was going to be shipped somewhere and when." said the Professor Rowan.

"Our apologies, Mr..." Edd began to say.

"I'm sorry. I haven't introduced myself. My name is Professor Rowan." said Professor Rowan.

"I'm Eddy." said Eddy.

"I'm Ed." said Ed.

"My name is also Edd, but with two D's. You say you're a professor? May I ask what you study?" asked Edd with interest.

"I do study and research on Pokemon." answered Professor Rowan. The Eds looks confused.

"What the heck are Pokemon?" asked Eddy. Professor Rowan looked stunned.

"You don't know what Pokemon are?" replied Professor Rowan.

"No. We don't have these 'Pokemon' where we're from." replied Edd.

"Hmm. I thought Pokemon existed throughout the entire world. But it seems I was wrong." said Professor Rowan. He waves his hand towards his Machoke. "Here's an example of a Pokemon." Edd and Eddy looked on with shock, while Ed looked with awe.

"Cool!" Ed responded as he ran up to the Machoke and started checking it out, much to Machoke's confusion. Professor Rowan looked with an amused look on his face.

"I can tell you're already interested. Let me explain. Pokemon are mysterious creatures that live throughout our entire region. There are many kinds of Pokemon to be seen here, besides Machoke here. As a Pokemon professor, it's my job to unravel the mysteries that surround these creatures." said Professor Rowan.

"What are these Pokemon usually used for?" asked Edd.

"Some people keep them as companions, some use them to help with labor they can't do on their own, but most people train them to battle against other trainers' Pokemon." replied Professor Rowan.

"Trainers?" asked Edd.

"People who catch, raise, and battle with Pokemon are known as Pokemon trainers." said Professor Rowan. "You see, there's this annual competition where trainers battle against each other to find out who the best trainer in the Sinnoh region is. To be able to compete, trainers travel the entire region to the eight gyms scattered throughout the region and battle the gym leaders to win badges they're required to collect in order to compete in the Sinnoh League."

"That sounds so cool!" said Ed.

"I'm also intrigued by these Pokemon as you call them." said Edd.

"Whatever." muttered Eddy. Professor Rowan gives the Eds a stern look.

"As for you three, I'll try to find a way to get you boys back to where you came from." said Professor Rowan. Fearful expressions appeared on the Eds' faces.

"NO! Don't send us back home!" exclaimed Eddy, dropping to his knees, putting his hands together.

"There are people back home who want our heads on pikes!" cried Edd.

"Please! We'll do anything you want! Just don't send us back home!" begged Eddy. Professor Rowan scratches his chin and raised one of his eyebrows.

"Anything?" asked Professor Rowan.

"Yes! Anything!" cried Edd. Professor Rowan turns around.

"Follow me." said Professor Rowan as he starts walking towards his research area. The Eds follow closely behind him. They soon arrive at the table that had three pokeballs on it.

"Pardon me, Professor. But what are those ball-like objects?" asked Edd.

"These are called pokeballs. These devices are used to capture and contain Pokemon." explained Professor Rowan. "These three pokeballs already have Pokemon inside of them. What I want you three to do is look after these Pokemon for me so I can do my research." The boys each grab a pokeball from the table and started looking them over.

"Professor. How do we release the Pokemon from these pokeballs?" asked Edd.

"Simply throw them." said Professor Rowan. The Eds took the pokeballs and threw as instructed. Out of Ed's pokeball came out a small, light green, turtle-like Pokemon. "Ed, your Pokemon is a Turtwig, he's a grass type." Out of the pokeball Edd threw appeared a blue, penguin-like Pokemon. "Edd, your Pokemon is a Piplup, a water type."

"Fascinating." said Edd. And out of the pokeball Eddy threw appeared an orange, chimp-like Pokemon with fire coming out of it's butt. "And Eddy, your Pokemon is a Chimchar, a fire type."

"Is it's butt suppose to be on fire?" asked Eddy.

"Yes, it's suppose to do that." explained Professor Rowan.

"Hi, Turtwig." said Ed as he petted Turtwig's head.

"Turtwig." Turtwig replied

"Greetings, Piplup." Edd said to Piplup.

"Piplup." replied Piplup.

"Hey." Eddy said to Chimchar

"Chimchar." replied Chimchar.

"Now that you all met your Pokemon, there's another thing I would like you three to help me with." said Professor Rowan. He walks over to his desk and grabs a small, red, tablet-like device that's sitting on it and brings it over to the Eds.

"What's that?" asked Edd.

"This is called a pokedex. It's an electronic device used to record data on Pokemon. While you three are looking after those Pokemon, I'm hoping you three could catch Pokemon and use that pokedex to record data on them. The pokedex will automatically record the data of any Pokemon you catch. I would do it myself, but my research here keeps me too busy to do so." explained Professor Rowan.

"But how does one capture Pokemon, Professor?" asked Edd.

"Oh, that's right. You'll need some empty pokeballs. He opens a drawer in his desk and pulls out a box from it. He brings it to the boys. Edd opens the box to reveal 30 miniaturized pokeballs. Professor Rowan grabs one out of the box. "Allow me to explain how these work. First, you push this button to enlarge them." said Professor Rowan as he pushes the button the side of them. The boys watch as the pokeball grows in size. "After that, you simply throw the pokeball at the Pokemon to capture. But there's still a chance that the Pokemon can break loose before it's truly captured. To increase your chances of capturing the Pokemon, have your partner Pokemon battle it to weaken it. The weaker the opposing Pokemon is, the better your chances are of capturing it. Just so you know, you boys are only allowed to keep up to six Pokemon with you. Any Pokemon you capture when you have six Pokemon with you instantly teleport somewhere for storage. Since there are three of you, I'll give each of you ten pokeballs." says Professor Rowan. He then hands each of the Eds ten pokeballs.

"This is gonna be so cool, you guys." said Ed with excitement.

"This will be an interesting experience for all of us." said Edd

"Better than going back to the Cul-De-Sac." said Eddy. Professor Rowan hands Edd a medium-sized book, and a map.

"That guidebook should have other bits of information you might find useful in you journey, and a map of the Sinnoh region to help you find your way around." said Professor Rowan.

"We shall do our best, Professor." said Edd. He looks at Piplup. "Just one more thing. How do we get our Pokemon back into their pokeballs?"

"Simply point it's pokeball button at it and say 'Piplup, return." explained Professor Rowan. Edd holds out Piplup's pokeball and points the button at it.

"Piplup, return." says Edd. A red beam of light comes out and strikes Piplup, turning it into a mass of red light, which then gets sucked into the pokeball. "Astounding." The other two point their Pokemon's pokeballs at them.

"Turtwig, return." said Ed. Turtwig is then returned to it's pokeball.

"Chimchar, return." said Eddy. Chimchar returns to it's pokeball.

"Fellows. Let's be on our way." said Edd as he turned towards the door and starts walking towards it.

"Let's go, Eddy!" said Ed with excitement as he runs to catch up with Edd.

"Cool it, monobrow." said Eddy as he walks after them. Professor Rowan watches them leave.

"Good luck, boys. Do your best." said Professor Rowan. The Eds are about to start the most interesting journey of their lives.
