Wangbu: It will take a while to get a Riolu. The only way to get one in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl is to get one as a gift from Riley on Iron Island.

Seeing the Sights

As the Eds walked out of the Ravaged Path, Eddy was in deep thought.

'I need to find some more trainers to battle and win some more money for myself, not to mention capturing more Pokemon for my team. I don't want to be far behind the others.' Eddy thought to himself.

"Eddy? Are you okay?" asked Edd.

"I'm fine. I'm just thinking that I need to capture some more Pokemon for my team." said Eddy.

"Like I said before, there will be opportunities to do that soon. But let's just keep going on to Jubilife City." said Edd.

"Yeah, yeah." replied Eddy. Suddenly, they hear someone speak.

"Excuse me. Are any of you three trainers?" a girl's voice said. They turn to see a girl standing in the grass.

"Yeah, we're trainers." replied Edd.

"Would any of you like to have a battle with me?" asked the girl. Eddy, seeing an opportunity to win more money for himself, steps forward.

"I'll battle you." said Eddy as he pulled out a pokeball. The girl also pulls out a pokeball.

"Budew. I choose you." said the girl as she throws her pokeball. The ball opens, releasing a Budew.

"Okay, Zubat. Let's see what you can do." said Eddy as he throws Zubat's pokeball, releasing it.

"Eddy. Is that such a good idea? You just captured it and it's probably weakened from the battle you had with it." said Edd.

"I'll be fine, sockhead. Okay, Zubat. Use Absorb." said Eddy. Zubat releasing green energy from his body which hits Budew, draining some of it's stamina, half of which was used to heal Zubat. But the attack didn't seem to affect Budew that much.

"Why didn't that attack do much?" asked Eddy.

"This is a fine example of type advantages, Eddy. Since Budew is part-grass and part-poison; grass-type moves such as Absorb aren't going to do much damage to it." explained Edd.

"Oh, man." said Eddy.

"Budew. You use Absorb." said the girl. Budew releases green energy from the top of its head, which hits Zubat, stealing some stamina, also half being used to heal itself. But much like with Zubat, Absorb didn't seem to affect it much either.

"Good thing poison-types and flying-types, both of which Zubat is, are resistant to grass-type attacks also." said Edd.

"Okay, Zubat. Try Supersonic." said Eddy. Zubat releases a high-pitched noise from it's mouth, which causes Budew to get dizzy.

"Budew. Use Absorb again." the girl said. But Budew stumbles and falls on it's back, hurting it.

"What's wrong with that Budew?" asked Eddy.

"Supersonic is a move that causes the status affliction called confusion. It makes it so there's a chance the Pokemon afflicted with it to hurt itself if it tries attacking." explained Edd.

"Sweet. Okay, Zubat. Try Astonish." said Eddy. Zubat turns around, then quickly turns back towards Budew, startling it, making it fall down and hurt itself. Fortunately, that was enough to cause the Budew to faint. Eddy jumps for joy. "I win!" Eddy exclaims.

"Budew, return." said the girl, returning Budew to it's pokeball. She walks over to Eddy and hands him pokedollars.

"Thank you." said Eddy as he took the money.

"Good battle." said the girl. She turns and heads towards Jubilife City.

"More money for Eddy." said Eddy as he looks at the money in his hands.

"Congratulations, Eddy." said Edd. Eddy returns Zubat to his pokeball and they continue on towards Jubilife City. Once they got there, they went to the Pokemon Center to get their Pokemon treated. While their Pokemon were being treated, Ed, Edd, and Eddy were in a sleeping room, looking at their map.

"Gentlemen, if we take Route 203, we should reach this tunnel and after going through this tunnel, we will arrive at Oreburgh City; and according to this map, there is a gym there." said Edd.

"Sweet. Let's get going." said Eddy as he got up off the bed.

"But, Eddy. I want to explore the city." said Ed.

"What? Why?" asked Eddy.

"I'll admit I'm a tad curious about what a big city like this is really like. We could learn some useful information that could help us on our journey." said Edd.

"Fine. I guess I could use a taste of big city life. Let's go, boys." said Eddy. They leave the Pokemon Center to take in the city. They were amazed at all the tall buildings that they had there. There was even a TV station. As they explored the city, a man walks up to them.

"Excuse me, boys. How would you like a free Poketch?" asked the man. The Eds looked confused.

"Poketch?" asked Edd.

"It's short for 'Pokemon Watch'. It's basically a device you wear on your wrist that has a large variety of functions." explained the man.

"I'm intrigued, but I'm assuming you're not just going to give to us." said Edd.

"You are correct. To earn the Poketch, you have to find three clowns that are scattered throughout the city and answer a question from each of them. For each question you answer correctly, you'll get a coupon. Bring me all three coupons and the Poketch is yours." said the man. The Eds looked at each other.

"Well if it's free, I got no problem with doing it." said Eddy. "We'll leave answering the questions to you, Double-D."

"Very well. Let's locate the clowns." said Edd. The Eds then went off to search for the clowns. They spotted the first clown in front of the TV station.

"Hello, boys. I'm a Poketch campaign clown. Let's "rollout" my question. Can a Pokemon hold an item?" asked the clown. Edd thought for a second.

"I believe they can." answered Edd.

"Correct. Here's your coupon." said the clown as he handed them a coupon.

"Sweet. One down, two to go." said Eddy. They found the next clown in front of the Poketch building.

"Hello, boys. I'm a Poketch campaign clown. Let's "rollout" my question. Just like Pokemon, do the moves of Pokemon also have types?" asked the clown.

"Yes, they do." answered Edd.

"Correct. Here's your Poketch Coupon." said the clown as he handed them a coupon.

"One more to go, boys." said Eddy. They found the last clown in front of a building with a blue roof.

"Hello, boys. I'm a Poketch campaign clown. Let's "rollout" my question. Do Pokemon grow by defeating others and gaining experience?" asked the clown.

"Yes, they do." said Edd.

"Correct. Here's your coupon." said the clown as he handed them the last coupon.

"That's all three. Let's go get our free Poketch." said Eddy. Before they left, they stopped to look at the blue-roofed building. "What's this place?" Eddy asked.

"I think it's a store of some kind, Eddy." said Edd. "Perhaps we should go inside and see what they have for sale."

"I don't see why not. I mean, we have money; might as well spend it." said Eddy as he and the others walked inside. They saw lots of bottles and pokeballs on the shelves.

"Hello, boys. What can I do for you?" asked the store clerk.

"Pardon me, ma'am. But what do you sell here?" asked Edd.

"Items for trainers to use. We sell pokeballs, potions, and items that cure certain status conditions. Trainers can also sell things they don't want." explained the clerk.

"What are potions?" asked Edd.

"Potions are a medicine that heal Pokemon that get hurt in battle." explained the clerk.

"Fellows. I believe it would be wise if each of us buys a couple potions in case our Pokemon are hurt while we're far from the nearest Pokemon Center." said Edd.

"Okay, Double-D." said Ed.

"Fine. I guess it wouldn't hurt." said Eddy. They each buy two potions and leave the store.

"I think we should also look into buying some backpacks to carry our stuff in so our hands and pockets aren't too full." suggested Edd.

"We don't have enough money to do that, sockhead. We spent almost everything we had on those potions." said Eddy.

"Then we'll just have to try winning more battles to earn more money, I suppose." said Edd.

"We should definitely try finding some more trainers to battle then." said Eddy.

"So what now, guys?" asked Ed.

"We still need to claim our free Poketch." said Edd.

"Oh, yeah. Let's go, boys." said Eddy. They soon reached the man and after he confirmed they had all three coupons, he gave them the Poketch. They all checked it out.

"What does this thing do?" asked Eddy.

"All sorts of things. It tells you what time it is, it has a built-in calculator, it also has a built-in pedometer, it also shows you the Pokemon on your team and the condition they're in. That's all for now, but there are other apps available if you're interested." said the man.

"You hold onto it, Double-D. Technology is your thing." said Eddy as he handed Edd the Poketch.

"So what now?" asked Ed.

"Let's look around some more." said Edd. They wandered around for a little while longer until they got near the south end of the city. It was there that a building caught Edd's attention. "What's this building?" Edd asked himself. He looked at a sign near the building and saw it was a Trainer's School. "Interesting. We should go inside, fellows."

"A school? Forget that." said Eddy.

"But, Eddy. This is a Trainer's School. There is so much we can learn from here. Also, since this is a school for trainers, there might be some inside you can battle to earn more money." said Edd, catching Eddy's interest.

"In that case, let's go." said Eddy as he walked inside. Inside, they saw several students at desks, reading textbooks, and also checking out stuff written on the chalkboard.

"I'm going to see what's on the chalkboard." said Edd as he started walking over to it.

"Whatever. I'm going to find some trainers who want to battle. Let's go, Ed." said Eddy as he started looking around.

"Right behind you, Eddy." said Ed as he followed after him. In a small room on the east side of the building, they saw two trainers, one boy and one girl, standing in the back of it.

"Hey. Any of you two want to battle?" Eddy asked them.

"We wouldn't mind battling. We want to test out what we learned." said the boy.

"Sweet. Okay, Ed. I'll take the boy, you take the girl." said Eddy.

"Okay, Eddy." said Ed. Eddy stands across from the boy and pulls out a pokeball.

"Zubat, I choose you." said Eddy as he throws his pokeball, releasing Zubat. The boy pulls out a pokeball also.

"Abra. I choose you." said the boy, releasing a small, pale yellow, bipedal Pokemon with a kite-shaped head, small, pointy ears, and a big tail.

"What's that Pokemon?" asked Eddy. Edd, who just came back from reading the chalkboard, pulled out the pokedex and pointed it at the Pokemon

"Abra, the Psi Pokemon. Even while asleep, it maintains a telepathic radar. It teleports when it is threatened." the pokedex said.

"Okay, Zubat. Use Supersonic." said Eddy. Zubat uses Supersonic on Abra, causing it to become confused.

"Abra. Use Charge Beam." said the boy. The Abra releases a beam of electricity at Zubat. Unfortunately for Zubat, Abra didn't hit itself in confusion and the electric-type attack hits Zubat, causing super effective damage.

"Eddy! Be careful! Electric-type attacks like that are very effective against flying-types like Zubat." Edd warned.

"Also, Charge Beam also increases the special attack power of the Pokemon that used it." explained the boy.

"Uh oh." said Eddy. "Zubat! Use Absorb." Zubat uses Absorb on Abra, doing damage and healing itself a little in the process.

"Okay, Abra. Use Charge Beam one more time." said the boy. Abra tries to gather energy for Charge Beam, but this time, confusion took effect, causing the attack to backfire, doing damage to Abra. "Abra, no!"

"Zubat! Try using Astonish!" said Eddy. Zubat uses Astonish, which lands a direct hit on Abra.

"Good idea, Eddy. Ghost-type attacks like Astonish are very effective against psychic-types like Abra." said Edd. Fortunately for Eddy, Astonish did enough damage to cause Abra to faint.

"Yes. I won." said Eddy, relieved that Zubat was able to pull through. The boy returns Abra to his pokeball and walks over to Eddy.

"Good battle." said the boy as he hands Eddy pokedollars.

"Sweet." said Eddy as he took the money. Back at Ed, he was facing the girl trainer who also had an Abra out.

"Turtwig, use Leafage!" said Ed. Turtwig unleashed Leafage and hits the trainer's Abra, causing it to faint. "Yay, I win!" The girl returned Abra to its pokeball and walks over to Ed.

"You were fortunate my Abra's Charge Beam isn't very effective against grass-type pokemon." said the girl, giving Ed pokedollars.

"Yep." replied Ed. The pokedex suddenly chimed. Edd pulls it out of his pocket and looks at it.

"Oh my. Ed, it seems your Turtwig learned a new move called Razor Leaf. A much stronger grass-type attack than Leafage.

"Cool." replied Ed. The boy walks up to them.

"Wow. You two are amazing. We thought we could win, but we were no match at all. I think you'll make use of these Technical Machines more than we will." said the boy as he hands the Eds three disc-shaped devices.

"What are these?" asked Edd.

"Those are Technical Machines. A Technical Machine, or TM for short, is a device that instantly teaches a Pokemon whatever attack is recorded on it. These particular TMs have the move Work Up on them. Work Up is a move that increases the attack and special attack power of the Pokemon that uses it. And also, a TM can only be used once so choose which Pokemon you use it on, carefully." explained the boy.

"Thank you. We'll remember that. Have a nice day." said Edd. He and the others headed towards the entrance until they passed a Lost and Found box that had several items in it.

"Sweet. Free stuff." said Eddy, reaching for a yellow backpack.

"Wait, Eddy, this is a Lost and Found box. Someone might be looking for that." said Edd. A teacher walks over to them.

"Actually, those items have been in there for a long time and no one has ever claimed them. So you boys are welcome to take anything you like out of it." said the teacher.

"Sweet." said Eddy, taking the yellow backback.

"Well, if you say its okay, then I guess there's no harm." said Edd, taking a brown, one-strapped backpack while Ed took an olive green backpack. The Eds went to the Pokemon Center to have Zubat and Turtwig treated. Later that day, the Eds left the Pokemon Center and went to the eastern exit out of Jubilife City.

"Okay, boys. Onward to Oreburgh City and our first gym battle." said Eddy. With that, the Eds left Jubilife City. Their next destination: Oreburgh City.
