After the Gym Battle

Eddy ran as fast as he could to the Pokemon Center to get his Pokemon healed, especially Zubat. As soon as he reached the Pokemon Center, he burst through the doors without stopping and ran up to the front desk, surprising the nurse.

"Excuse me. Could you heal my Pokemon? My Zubat really needs it, along with Monferno." says Eddy.

"Oh course, young man." said the nurse as she takes Eddy's pokeballs. "I'll have your Pokemon healed soon." Eddy released a breath of relief.

"That's good to hear." says Eddy. Just then, Ed and Edd came through the doors and ran up to Eddy.

"Eddy. What's gotten into you? I've never seen you run so fast for anything except a sale on jawbreakers at the candy store." said Edd.

"I just wanted to get my Pokemon healed as soon as possible. What's wrong with that?" replied Eddy.

"Nothing, Eddy. It's just that I've never seen you so concerned for anything before. What's the problem?" asked Edd. Eddy looks down in defeat, knowing he can't hide anything from his super-smart friend.

"Let's just get something to eat, then we can talk." said Eddy.

"Oh, boy. Lunchtime." says Ed. They walk over to the cafeteria and they each order a couple of sandwiches, some chips, pickles, and lemonade for themselves. As they ate, Edd decided to ask Eddy something.

"So, Eddy. What's gotten into you?" asked Edd. Eddy looks down at his plate with a forlorn expression.

"This Pokemon thing is like the only thing I've ever really been good at, so far. I mean, you have your brains, Ed has...well...he has something that could probably work out for him in the future. But what about me? All I have going for me is scamming people, and I haven't had any good luck with that. Everything I've ever tried has always ended up failing. And my Pokemon; they've been the only guys that have ever given their all for me, with the exception of you two. I mean, my parents are hardly ever around to look after me. You, Ed, and the other kids at the Cul-De-Sac are always looking after ourselves because our parents are hardly ever around. Even Jimmy's parents aren't around a lot, he's basically still a kid and they leave him alone without any supervision. The only older person who looked after me before was my brother, and he's pretty much the biggest jerk to me. Sure he's taught me a few things, but that doesn't make up for the heartless things he's done to me. My ankle still hurts from those times he's twisted it." said Eddy.

"I guess I can relate to the whole lack of parental supervision subject. I hardly ever see my parents as well. The only way I know they've ever been around is the post-it notes they leave for me all over the house." says Edd.

"My parents are never around much either, you guys. They leave me alone to look after my little sister by myself. My mom always takes Sarah's side over mine, and my dad doesn't try to spend time with me. All he does is go to work, come home, sit down in front of the TV, and go to bed." said Ed.

"Anyway; this Pokemon trainer thing has been the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm winning at something, and I have more money than I ever did. Sure, it's not the money we're used to back home, but it's more than what I've had before." said Eddy.

"I guess us getting chased by the kids back home turned out to be a blessing in disguise. If it wasn't for that, we never would've ended up coming here and becoming Pokemon trainers." said Edd.

"I guess you're right, Double-D." said Eddy.

"Yeah. Being a Pokemon trainer is so cool. We're making all sorts of new Pokemon friends." said Ed.

"I've never seen this side of you before, Eddy." said Edd.

"It's not a side I like to let people know about, Double-D. I worry that people might see it as a sign of weakness and think I'm not cool. You and Ed are the only two kids who actually know about it." said Eddy.

"I'm touched that you trust us enough to show this side of you to us." said Edd. Ed looks at Eddy with a big smile and tears in his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. Don't get mushy on me, you guys." said Eddy.

"If it makes you feel better, I won't tell any of the other kids back home about it." said Edd.

"Me, too." said Ed. Eddy looks at them with a smile.

"Thanks, you two. You're real pals." said Eddy. They all continued eating until they heard an announcement saying that Eddy's Pokemon are healed. They all walk to the front desk and the nurse hands Eddy his Pokemon.

"Here you are, young man. Your Pokemon are fully healed." said the nurse.

"Thanks." said Eddy. They all step outside and Eddy lets out his Pokemon. They all surround Eddy as he looks at them. "Hey, guys. How are you doing?" Eddy asked.

"Monferno." says Monferno with a smile on his face, Zubat happily flies in place, and Geodude smiles at Eddy.

"Hey, Zubat. Are you okay?" asked Eddy. Zubat nods in response. "Look. I'm sorry that you got hurt. I wasn't expecting Roark's Pokemon to be so tough. But at least you took out Roark's Geodude." Zubat looks at Eddy with a smile on his face. "I promise you this, Zubat. I will help you become the strongest Zubat ever. We're going to train extra hard. And the same goes for you two guys as well." says Eddy. Zubat perched on Eddy's shoulder and nuzzles his face; Monferno and Geodude each hug one of Eddy's legs. Eddy looks at his Pokemon with a smile. "Thanks, you guys."

"So what do you want to do now, Eddy?" asked Edd.

"I don't know. Maybe we can take it easy for the rest of the day. Our Pokemon definitely earned some time off." said Eddy.

"Great idea, Eddy." said Edd.

"Let's let our Pokemon out so they can have fun." suggested Ed.

"Great idea, Ed." said Edd as he and Ed pull out their pokeballs. They both let out their Pokemon.

"We should get our Pokemon some snacks to celebrate their victories." said Edd.

"Good idea. Hey, Ed. Could you take care of that?" asked Eddy.

"Sure, Eddy." says Ed as he runs to the PokeMart. He soon comes back with fruit and bags of Pokemon food. The Pokemon played around and ate until sunset.

"It's getting late, Eddy. We should head back to the Pokemon Center and get ready for bed." said Edd.

"Okay. Everyone, return." said Eddy as he and the other return their Pokemon to their pokeballs. Once that was done, they all go to the Pokemon Center and went into their room. As they laid in their beds, they discussed what to do tomorrow.

"So what now, guys?" asked Ed.

"I believe the next gym is in a place called Eterna City. We'll need to go through the Ravaged Path to get there. And thanks to Rock Smash, and that app, along with the Coal Badge, we should be able to get through there now." said Edd.

"I want to try to catch more Pokemon for myself." said Ed.

"Yeah, yeah. We can do that tomorrow, monobrow. For now, let's get some shut eye." said Eddy. They soon fell asleep, resting up to continue their journey tomorrow.
