Scene 20 - Adrien in his room

Adrien arrived home late from his fencing match. He was pleased with himself, having won, but was mostly excited that Marinette had been there to see it. There were probably more exciting things to do on a Friday night than watch a junior club fencing event, but Marinette didn't seem to mind. And Adriend couldn't lose with her lucky charm by his side.

Adrien lay down in his bed, too exhausted to even change back into his pajamas.

He pulled out his phone and immediately dialed his girlfriend. He smiled at the thought. Marinette was his girlfriend.

"Bonne soirée" Marinette answered.

"Bonne soirée, princess" Adrien greeted her, using the nickname Chat had given Marinette. Looking back, Adrien couldn't believe how blind he'd been, not realizing he was in love with Marinette this whole time.

"What's it been, 45 minutes since we last spoke?" Marinette teased.

"Any amount of time without hearing your voice is too long, m'lady," Adrien insisted. "But I did call for a purpose. I realized I forgot to tell you about our date tomorrow!"

"We have a date tomorrow?"

"If you're available, of course"

"I'm sure I can find the time"

"Fantastic," Adrien beamed. "I booked the theater for us at 16h00, to see The Umbrellas of Deauville"

Marinette let out an excited giggle that made Adrien's face light up. He loved listening to her laugh.

"I've been wanting to see that!" she confirmed.

"I know," Adrien replied. "And tomorrow we can enjoy it, just me and you."

"Wait," Marinette paused, finally putting the pieces together.

"Adrien, did you reserve the whole theater!?"

He was nervous for a moment. Was it too much? He didn't want to overwhelm her, but he had also wanted to do something special.

"What can I say, I'm my father's son," he defended. "I have to spend all this money on something."

"I appreciate it, Adrien, but you know you don't have to do all this just for me."

Just for her? Adrien couldn't believe she could see herself as deserving anything less than all of Paris. A movie theater for one afternoon was nothing.

"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to"

"Ok," she conceded. "I look forward to seeing you"

"Me too"

"Meet you tomorrow at the cinema, right?"

"Are you going to hang up first?"

"No, you do it"

"Bonne nuit, M'lady," he whispered to his love.
