9:15 a.m.
Sonic and Charlie are sitting in the chairs of the front office, with the ladder's head hanging low. Poor Charlie had been crying for a few minutes, fearing that his classmates will hurt him. They did hurt his feelings earlier by laughing at his harmless question about Miss Hardberry, after all.
Sonic rubs the rabbit's back and says, "Honestly, I don't know why everyone thought your question was funny. Miss Hardberry's not a kindergartener; she's a kindergarten teacher."
"I thought they were the same thing!" Charlie cries, covering his wet eyes with his hands.
Miss Hardberry comes into the office, happy to see the two boys. "There you two are!" she says as she walks up to them. "Charlie, are you okay?"
"No," the light blue boy sobs. "What if everyone starts to pick on me?"
"Don't say that," Miss Hardberry's heart sinks. "After everything cools down, you'll still be able to make friends."
"Yeah," Sonic agrees. "I'm your friend, and Hannah and Barbra might be our friends soon." Hannah will definitely be a good friend. She seems nice enough, plus she has quite a bit in common with the boys (such as an interest in drawing, and she's a hedgehog like Sonic). Barbra on the other hand...maybe a nice change in additude will improve the green-eyed hedgehog's interest in her.
"You boys ready to go back to class?" the fox teacher asks the kids.
Sonic and Charlie nod, and the three of them walk back to the classroom. But as soon as Miss Hardberry opens the Room 1 door, she covers her mouth, gasping. All the kids have their eyes covered, moaning and groaning in pain. Sonic also gasps, not because of his classmates, but because of the red robot, laughing at the kids' misery while holding an old camera.
"ROBOT!" the blue hedgehog yells at him. "What did you do?!"
Charlie cries, "I don't like this!" and runs away from the classroom in fear.
Robot sees Sonic and tells him, "Well, young boy; your class let me take a picture of them, but the flash was so bright that it made them blind!"
BLIND?! Robot has gone too far this time! Sonic wonders if Robotnik is behind this, which is most likely. He turns to Miss Hardberry and asks her, "Want me to go get the principal?"
Miss Hardberry nods. "Get the nurse, too," she responds.
Sonic runs back to the office within a second flat. He doesn't notice Charlie, who's sitting in one of the chairs, crying and hanging his head low. He runs up to the human woman, who's sitting in her chair, and screams, "PRINCIPAL BROWN, PRINCIPAL BROWN, PRINCIPAL BROWN!"
He ends up startling her as she screams back, "What, what, what?!"
"MY CLASS, MY CLASS, MY CLASS!" the blue hedgehog tries to say.
Principal Brown bends down next to the boy asking, "Yes, yes, yes?"
"THEY'RE BLIND, THEY'RE BLIND, THEY'RE BLIND!" Sonic cries out.
"Okay, Sonic!" the brown-haired woman says as she puts her hands on Sonic's shoulders. "What you need to do is settle down and take a deep breath."
Sonic closes his eyes and breathes slowly. Principal Brown then firmly asks him, "Now what happened?"
The colbalt hedgehog opens his eyes and immediately panics again. "A robot came into the classroom, took a picture of my class, and now they're blind!"
Charlie overhears this and runs over to Sonic and Principal Brown. "Everyone's blind?" he asks his blue friend.
"YES!" Sonic loudly answers the rabbit. He turns to the principal and asks her, "Can you get the nurse?"
Principal Brown nods yes and stands up, only to see the last person she ever wanted to see: Dr. Robotnik! When did he get here?! He must be behind Room 1 getting blind!
"Dr. Robotnik!" Sonic growls.
"Who is that guy?!" Charlie quivers, wanting to know.
Sonic answers him, "Only the most evil man who ever lived!"
Principal Brown stands tall and asks the man, "What do you want, Dr. Robotnik?"
Robotnik's suprised the principal of all people asked him that. Grinning, he answers, "Oh, I just wanted to, you know, destory Sonic's class!"
"You can't do that!" cries Principal Brown. "They're kindergarteners! Why would you do that?"
"'Cause one of them's a stupid little brat!" Robotnik aggressively answers.
"Hey!" Sonic shouts, offended by the human's comment about him.
Charlie yells to Robotnik, "You said a bad word!"
"I'm gonna call the police if you don't stop hurting poor Sonic!" Principal Brown threatens the doctor.
"I couldn't care less about the police!" Robotnik snaps back at her. "And now will you excuse me, I'm gonna go see if my robot succedded his task."
As Robotnik walks into the hallway, Principal Brown walks the other direction to get the nurse. Sonic and Charlie run to the hallway to go back to class.
Back in Room 1...
As Dr. Robotnik steps foot into the classroom, he could not believe his eyes! Right now, he's whitnessing Robot and Miss Hardberry carefully putting eyedrops in the kids' eyes so they can heal.
"Don't worry, kid," Robot says to the gray wolf. "You're going to be alright."
Sonic and Charlie appear right behind the angry doctor. They both seem amazed to see their classmates' eyes healing. Robotnik isn't however, as he slowly walks up to Robot and screams to him, "ROBOT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Robot was startled by his boss' screaming that he drops the eyedrop bottle onto the floor. "U-u-u-um...fixing my mistake?"
"How is making kids blind a mistake?!" the human shouts. "You do what you're told!"
"But I was doing the right thing!" Robot raises his voice, referring to helping Miss Hardberry with the eyedrops.
Robotnik violently grabs Robot's arm and drags him to the front door. "You make me sick," he screams. "When we get back to the base, I'm going to give you the worst punishment of your life!"
As the villains exit the classroom, the kids run over to Sonic and Charlie and start complimenting them.
"Thanks for saving us, guys!" Hannah says.
"Saving you?" Sonic questions.
"We didn't really do anything," Charlie awkwardly adds.
"Who cares?" says Barbra. "You're heroes!"
Sonic smiles at the hedgehog's comment. Heroes? "Awesome!" he says.
Just then, the bell rings for recess. Miss Hardberry checks the clock above the whiteboard; 9:30. She turns to the class and says, "Time for recess! Go have fun!"
The kids scream for joy as they run towards the other door, this one facing the kindergarten playground.
