Arriving at the police station, Cal and Gillian made their way through the small crowd of uniformed and plain clothes officers seeking out their liaison for the case. With minimal quizzing they found themselves directed to a small incident room containing Sharon Wallowski and a number of other officers. Sharon introduced them to the case lead who looked less than convinced of the necessity for a group of psychologists but seemed willing to trust the detective based on the case histories that she had shown him.

"So, you two really worked with federal agencies and national security with this mumbo jumbo science, huh?", asked a dubious sounding Captain Will Mallory upon being introduced.

Wallowski and Gillian braced themselves for Cal's reaction, neither entirely certain as to how he would take the perceived affront to his life's work.

Cal stared him down for a moment, looked him up and down then turned to look at Wallowski. "Who's actually in charge here? No way this guy has the capability to manage this one, he's scared out of his wits", Cal said with a calmness that belied his simmering anger at the attitude of the cop.

Wallowski took a nervous breath in, glancing at the more senior officer. Gillian quickly assessed the impact of her partners words with a brief once over of the man, understanding immediately that Cal had hit exactly the target he intended. Mallory was feeling a case of imposter syndrome and clearly lacked the confidence he portrayed in his bravado. He didn't believe in their ability to help solve this case, but nor did he believe fully in his own ability. If this introduction didn't get back on track quickly, they risked losing any hope of trust with the Baltimore PD and their advice wouldn't be heeded. They could really help in investigations like this, but only if they were trusted to do it.

Stepping forward with a professional smile on her face, Gillian extended her hand towards Captain Mallory. "Captain, my name is Doctor Gillian Foster, thank you for inviting us to assist with this case. We've handled these types of cases before with great success, I promise you if you give us a chance to do what we do your investigation should move along a lot more quickly. We can help you. I assure you of that." Gillian's tone and body language was so self-assured that the police Captain couldn't help but naturally respond to it. Wallowski and Cal smirked to themselves, Cal preening with pride in his partners ability to win people over when she wanted to. He figured the captain had to be newly promoted. They would have to manage him carefully to ensure that his ego and need to prove himself didn't interfere with their ability to do their jobs.

"Well, Doctor Foster I don't see how you're going to find a missing teenager by analysing the expression on someone's face, but Detective Wallowski insists that you'll be more help than hindrance on this. I'd just ask that you and your colleagues stay out of the way of the real cops here", Mallory's tone had responded to Gillian's in exactly the way she had intended, but he remained clearly skeptical.

"Right then! I suppose you'll be the liaison for The Lightman Group then, detective?", Cal directed his question to Wallowski, unwilling to engage any more with Mallory than was necessary.

Wallowski looked towards Mallory in askance. Once he nodded to her in confirmation, Wallowski turned towards the two psychologists and gestured towards the door, leading them to another, quieter space.

Cal continued to grumble about the encounter while Gillian spoke to Wallowski.

"We need to have our people present before the search party sets out. We need to be able to look at the faces of every single volunteer and family member while they're being briefed. If the person who took Amy is there, or someone who knows something, we need to be able to be there to look for any signs", Gillian looked to Wallowski as she spoke, imploring her with her eyes to understand the importance of their process and to be sure to make it happen.

Wallowski nodded, resigned to the difficulty of the task ahead of her before replying, "I'll talk to Mallory and make the case, but you guys should get out there now just in case they don't wait. There's no chance of holding off until morning on this, everyone's keen to get out there and start looking. I'll get the recording of the voicemail sent to your lab too, I've already cleared that. The sound isn't too clear, and there's a lot going on in it, but any information you can extract could be helpful." Wallowski handed Gillian a file folder including the addresses they would need.

"Thanks, we'll head out now", Gillian replied, taking hold of Cal's arm and steering him toward the door. Gillian set about texting the address of the starting point for the search to Mark and Ria while Cal took the folder from her and began to read through it. Gillian would be able to read over it in the car and brief Cal on the contents, but Cal wanted to have a quick read through it himself before they set off.
