Prompt: The Hero wants to go back to their world, but can't.
"And cue the swearing in 3... 2... 1..." said Serah to break the silence as she watched her partner's frustrations over the last three months finally reach its boiling point.
Then came a string of expletives so long that the angriest drunken sailor would be jealous. The colors of the language echoed through the cave, bathing whom-so-ever were residing in these forgotten depths in the most foul words to ever be uttered in this place. But slowly the swearing faded away and was replaced by sobbing.
The Arbok slithered up and coiled around her partner to comfort her.
"Why?" came from the sobbing Murkrow. "Why am I here?" Tears were running down her beak, dripping onto the scales of the snake. "This place should have taken me home!" She started to struggle and Serah let go of her grip.
The bird got up in the air and shot an Air Slash at the decayed altar. Then another. And another. "YOU WERE MY TICKET BACK!" she yelled as she started diving towards it.
Serah rushed in between the two and took the hit, before quickly binding the bird tightly. This time for its own safety.
"STOP GETTING IN MY WAY!" the dark type screeched.
"I am not letting go until you calm down and stop trying to hurt yourself, Miriam!" Serah snarled, trying to intimidate the crying mess.
"I WANT TO GO HOME! I WANT TO GO HOME!" Miriam screamed before yelling out in pain as the poison type squeezed her tighter.
"I KNOW!" Serah yelled back.
Miriam stopped struggling, being taken aback by Serah's response.
"I know." she then repeated in a calm manner. "But lashing out like that will not help."
Miriam had calmed down, though still crying.
Serah nuzzled her before going to the altar and picked up the gem stones that they had inserted in an attempt to open a portal prior. Suffice to say, whatever magic that had powered the ancient shrine had long since faded. She slithered back to her crying partner and wiped the tears off her beak.
"Let's go back." Serah said.
"I... I just..." Miriam was breathing deeply in between sobs. "I miss them."
"And we will get you back to your world! I promised to see it through, and you know how I am about promises." Serah reassured. "As for you!" she turned, her tail glowing a white-ish gray as she swung the Iron Tail towards the altar, shattering it. "That is for crushing her hopes!"
"Miriam, how about you tell me more about your family and the human world?" Serah asked Miriam in hopes to cheer her up, as they left the cave. "Any interesting stories you haven't brought up?"
Meanwhile a metallic eye was watching them.
Objective UPDATED: Targets suitable, though needs more experience. Recruiter Vision Orb will remain to keep watch. Preparations for summon to Nexus on standby.
AN: Poor Miriam. What kind of monster would have her be stuck in the pokemon world like that. Just let her go home already...
Why are you guys looking at me like that?
