Chapter 10

Miwa was found.

Actually, she was forced to the front lines of this after refusing to do the binding vow with the councilmen. Her brothers and family are safe. She made sure of that. Long before this even happened, her parents got a new job overseas and jumped at the chance to take it. She remained in Japan to farther her studies as well, hopeful to become a first grade sorcerer.

Yet, here, she sat among others who didn't appear right in her mind. They were laughing it up how this was all going to be over before it even starts. "We're sending in the mecha crew first, about damn time we found use for those stupid curse corpses!" said one.

She froze. "Muta…" she whispered and wept, she hasn't seen the robots since his passing, she also didn't know the elders were trying to find ways of using what was left behind to their benefit. But now, there was a collection of fifty of them, waiting for the time to strike.

"OKAY PEOPLE LISTEN UP!" shouted the leader of all this. Mosu was his name and he made it clear, he is calling the shots. "WE GOT SMALL VILLAGES SURROUNDING THE AREA, BUT BY THE SCOUTS REPORTS, THE TRATIORS ARE MOVING THEMSELVES AWAY FROM THEM TO AVOID CONFLICT AND CASULTIES. IN FACT, THE VILLAGES THEMSELVES HAVE BEEN EMPTIED. THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MOVED OUT…"

Some people snickered at the notion. "They are going without human shields for this?"

She felt sick to it all. No one here would bat an eye on sacrificing innocent people to stay one step ahead. Those who are considered traitors are acting more professional than those around her.

"Let go!"

She froze to heard Todo's voice. He was bounded in talismans and paraded before the masses. "YOU TRIATOR!" she heard the masses yell.

He refused to even look at them. But she also understood, he didn't want to harm his so called brother. Yuuji Itadori, the demon vessel that has always been slated for death. And yet, to Todo, he was a friend and brother.

"We're using this asshole as bait! The moment he is no longer useful and we have culled the traitors, he will be killed for his treachery!"

Todo smirked. "Then kill me now" he stated. "I won't help you draw my brother out,"

"Don't tempt me," Mosu warned. "But there is no need to hold back, kill those on sight, no reasoning with them!"

The twisted grins returned to the faces of those around her.

What startled her most was one of the legions ready to go in. She heard from the others there were members of the Zenin clan that were slaughtered. Those that remained came to the front lines, apparently they had designated survivors in place for such an emergency. "The head won't dare harm those who have not wronged him…" one snickered.

Miwa shuttered to think that would happen to her if she turned her back on the jujutsu council. At the same time, she doesn't agree to where it is going.

They were called to move out, Miwa was tasked with ten of the mecha robots, it took many curse users to control them to the same extent that Muta could. Still, as they began to enter the thick forest, Miwa kept on her guard.

"At ease little girl, you won't be harmed!" someone said out of one of the bots. "Well… we won't be, these are nothing more than pawns… guess that says something about you doesn't it?" he snickered.

She sneered at him, but then heard footsteps. Her hand on the sword she turned sharply but found her blade was pointed to Todo!

Still bounded, he was forced along by Mosu. "So, you at least realized what truly matters huh little girl?" Mosu asked. "After all, what chance would you have at surviving against the council?"

"She's a lot stronger than she looks," Todo said with a sneer. "I would never underestimate her"

His words took her aback, Todo hasn't said anything like that to her before!

Still, what could she do to help him? Miwa has lost more classmates than she care to admit. She's the only one in second year now. Momo told her about Mia, and yet, she has to fight for those who did nothing to help or protect her?

It wasn't fair.

So much so she stopped in her tracks. "Todo" she said.

"Keep moving girly, we got to get this done and over with!" Mosu protested.

"Yes, we do…" she was fast, so fast no one could stop her as she severed the ropes off of Todo. He was stunned to her action, he grabbed her and ran for it as fast as he could. "TODO! PUT ME DOWN!" she insisted.

When he got some distance between him and the others, he turned to her. "What?" he asked.

"We need to separate, you have to go on ahead and help the others. I'll hold them back" she insisted.

"Miwa, you don't…"

"I already made up my mind," she protested. Her hand came back on her sword once more. "Go" she said and began to set up a personal domain.

She will no longer be useless, not from this moment on.
