THE MARAUDERS' MAP
"Of course! The riddle meant a map!" exclaimed Lee with enthusiasm.
You felt stupid for not realizing, now that you thought about the riddle, it seemed pretty obvious what it would be, after all it spoke about the layout of the place, passages and how to get around, of course it had to be a map.
"I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good," said one twin, waving his wand.
The old parchment filled itself with color and dots and it revealed the entire blueprint of Hogwarts and its grounds, in it you could see that it labeled each dot with a name and a surname and they kept moving around like real people throughout the entire castle.
"But wait, isn't Hogwarts supposed to be unplottable?" asked Lee, inspecting all the dots. "I read something about it in a book".
"I don't know, but honestly, I don't really care either." You assumed it was Fred speaking because of his carefree attitude. "Can't you see how awesome this is?"
"We studied this map a thousand times this last week. We've found a lot of interesting things," spoke the other twin while pointing to several places on the map. "See this? It's the entry to the kitchens."
It was roughly nine o'clock in the night and the four of you were sitting at a small table in the corner of the Gryffindor common room after having a quick dinner as soon as you arrived.
The twins decided it was best to open the map when everyone was at Hogwarts instead of inside the train, and you were glad they did, because your compartment kept being visited during the entire train ride back to school.
First, Charlie showed up and thanked you again for your gift and when he realized you were wearing the little snitch watch necklace he had gifted you, he was overjoyed, then he reminded you to use the watch and to not miss curfew, but he looked at all of you as if trying to make sure everyone heard it and should follow that order.
Then you were visited by Angelina and Alicia, who remained around for most of the train ride. When they finally left, you escorted them to Beatrice and Gilly's compartment, where you spent a couple of minutes chatting. When you were finally done and ready to go back and discuss the twin's findings, Adrian met you on the way back and you two had a long conversation about Christmas.
By the time Adrian left, after being called by one of the Slytherin students, the express was already arriving at Hogsmead station, so you decided to just find a private place to talk about the old parchment after dinner.
"This map shows EVERYTHING in Hogwarts!" It was definitely Fred speaking because he spoke a little too loud. His enthusiasm was very obvious, and you had to slap his arm and shush him because some Gryffindor students were still around. "Sorry," he murmured.
"What he means is we can see it all. People, and where they're going. Secrets passages and where they lead. At all times, anywhere!" spoke George in a whisper. "And the best of all? We've found secret passages that lead outside of Hogwarts"
"Outside?" you asked, confused. "You mean into the forest?"
"No, they lead to Hogsmead," explained George. He pointed again to a place on the map. "This one here leads straight into it."
"We're thinking about sneaking out and examining these secret passages," said Fred, smirking.
"What? Won't we be caught?" you asked in surprise.
"Keep up Fox," said Fred mockingly "We can see everyone on this map, we can sneak around while dodging everyone else so we don't get caught"
"Oh, right." You nodded in agreement. "Okay, I'm in. When are we doing this?" you asked.
Fred peered around to see if anyone could hear. After a quick look, probably trying his best to not look suspicious, he finally spoke.
"This Friday night." He whispered, "After everyone has gone to bed, we just have to stay away from Filch and we'll be fine"
You all shook your head in agreement. A few seconds later, you noticed someone was coming near your table, so you promptly elbowed George, who was next to you, and mouthed the words "Percy". He immediately understood and grabbed his wand and in a swift motion he spoke "Mischief Managed" and the map turned back into a blank piece of parchment before Percy got too close.
"Shouldn't you guys be heading to bed?" Percy asked in a judgmental tone and then stared at the four of you.
"Thank you for your concern, Perce, but we're not sleepy yet," said Fred in an annoyed tone.
"I feel you're up to something." Said Percy, crossing his arms and squinting his eyes, still staring at you.
"Yeah, well, it's none of your concern," replied George, resting his head on his hand and looking at Percy with a grimace.
"Are you afraid we ruin your reputation?" said Fred with a smug look. "Afraid to not get to be a prefect in two years, because of your little brothers?"
Percy didn't care to answer. He sighed deeply and left with a bothered look on his face. As soon as his back turned, the four of you giggled.
"He isn't wrong," you recognized after you finally stopped giggling, then you asked, "Why is Percy so…?"
"Dumb?" replied Fred. "A goody two shoes?" he added
"A stickler for the rules?" replied George. "He wants to be a Prefect, and then Head Boy, and then probably minister of magic, who knows" he shrugged his shoulders.
"Sometimes I wonder why he wasn't placed in Slytherin. He clearly checks all the boxes," said Fred. "Except the evil part"
"Not all Slytherins are evil!" you retorted
"Mr. Pussy might not be evil now. You never know the future, Camila," replied George.
"Adrian isn't a bad person and I'm sure there are other Slytherin students who aren't pureblood freaks." You shook your head in displeasure. After a couple of seconds of silence, Lee spoke.
"So… Friday?" he asked. "We still doing the whole sneaking around?"
"Obviously." You scoffed while beaming.
You could barely wait till Friday. So far, the four of you had used the map to explore some parts of the castle that you hadn't yet seen, especially the kitchens.
You knew Elves heavily staffed Hogwarts. You had learned about it in the first history of magic class when you briefly talked about Hogwarts and its history, but you hadn't seen one just yet and the kitchens seemed to be the most obvious place to find them.
So on Wednesday night, right after Astronomy class, which had to be the most irritating class you'd taken ever, Fred and George nudged you and Lee to follow them quickly, losing yourselves from the crowd of first years leaving the Astronomy tower and silently taking the longest route to the basement corridor in order to not be seen by the hufflepuff students whose common room was close enough to the kitchens.
Taking an extra care to evade Filch who was roaming the corridors at night, using the marauders map, you finally entered the basement. Everything was quiet and still and you searched the corridor for any special door.
"Guys, come here," you heard Fred call. He was always the one holding the map. "It's not behind a door. It's right here!" the three of you stood next to Fred looking at an enormous portrait.
But this portrait wasn't like the others, it didn't depict a person at all, neither had it been moving, which was unusual. It represented a painting of a fruit bowl, there was a banana, a pear, apple, grapes and an orange.
"Okay, so what's the password?" you asked, gazing at the painting. "Maybe it's food related?"
"Hey, look at the map," said Lee, pointing to the entrance of the kitchens portrayed in the parchment map. "something is written in small letters" Fred moved his face closer to where Lee was pointing.
"Tickle the pear"
"… What?" muttered Fred with a bewildered look on his face. "Do… what?"
You saw George roll his eyes as if it was insanely obvious what they needed to do, he moved towards the big painting and with his finger he slowly caressed the green pear, right away you heard a loud giggle coming from the painting and saw the pear slowly turning into a door handle. George turned to the three of you with a smug smile.
"Ah yes, you truly are the bright twin," you snickered.
"He's the one who figured out it was a map," replied Fred. "So, you're not wrong."
"Thank you, Fred" George made a small bow and winked at you.
"Hum… guys." Whispered Lee, trying to get everyone's attention. He pointed to the map again. "Mrs. Norris is coming!"
You all looked to the map and sure enough, there was a small dot moving rather quickly inside the basement corridor. The name Mrs. Norris was following the dot. You all shared looks of fear.
"Quick, get inside!" Fred moved towards the painting and grabbed the doorknob and turned it, it opened up just like a door. "Come on!"
You felt a hand pull you. It had become common for someone to pull you around since you were quite slow making decisions under pressure, especially for running away for your life. George quickly closed the door behind him after everyone was inside.
"Look, Filch is coming from the other corner of the corridor," pointed Fred.
You all moved towards the door and placed your ears on it, trying to hear what was happening on the other side of it, you heard Filch's faint voice outside talking to the cat, after a few minutes of snooping he finally left and Mrs. Norris followed, leaving the basement corridor free.
You all let out a sigh of relief and turned away from the door, only to be met with gigantic eyes looking at you.
"Jesus Christ!" you yelled, jumping back in surprise.
"Merlin's beard!" you heard the three boys yell in sync at the same time.
"Good evening" you heard one of the small creatures staring at you. "How can Milly help young masters?" You assumed this was a female elf. Her voice was squeaky. She bowed at you, and all the other elves did the same.
You hadn't seen an elf before, so you struggled to understand their physique. They were as tiny as a child and their head seemed two large, which made their eyes look as big as tennis ball and their ears were high and looked bat-like.
This elf had deep brown eyes and seemed to wear scraps of old clothes. This was definitely not what you had imagined an elf would look like.
"Wicked…" you heard Fred whisper to himself.
After a couple of seconds of silence from both parties, although the elves looked eager to hear your requests, finally Lee spoke.
"I'm hungry" he used his hand to motion that he had an empty stomach.
The elves quickly moved around the kitchen fetching food, meanwhile you took the time to look around and see that the kitchen layout seemed familiar to the great hall, the tables looked to be placed on the same spot as the tables above where you had breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
"Sorry…" you moved towards one elf and placed your hand on its scrawny shoulder. "How do you send the food upstairs?" you asked with curiosity.
The elf looked at you with a strange face. It looked surprised but also nervous. It choked on its words but eventually explained to you how they make the food and place it on the table and then the food gets transported exactly how it is to the tables above. After he was done explaining, he kept staring at you with its gigantic eyes until you said he was free to go.
You went back to the boys, who were now surrounded by elves who were holding many sweets and snacks and promptly giving them out to the twins and Lee, as soon as you stood next to them they also placed food on your hands and bowed down and went back to their work.
"Well, that worked," said Lee with a grin. "I wasn't that hungry but I'm definitely going to eat all of this"
"Mission accomplished, I guess?" you replied after taking a bite of a pumpkin pastie. "Now we can come here anytime we need food"
"Or a hiding place," said Fred while chewing his own pumpkin pastie.
"And we found out that the map gives you a clue to get pass a secret passage," added George.
"Which means it might give us clues for the ones who lead out of Hogwarts!" said Lee enthusiastically. He had already eaten half of his snacks. "I can't wait for Friday"
You felt a hand touch your back, which made you jump and turn back so quick you nearly dropped your food, the small Elf who you had talked before stood in front of you, in a soft voice he said you were always welcome to come back to the kitchens, you smiled clumsily and thanked him and turned back to the three boys. They were looking at you with furrowed brows and looks of confusion.
"What?" you asked, looking back in confusion only to realize that maybe you hadn't been speaking English with that Elf. You didn't know if Elves had their own language. "Let me guess… that wasn't English?" you had told none of them about your power.
"Since when do you speak… whatever you just spoke?" asked George with raised eyebrows.
"It's a long story. I'll tell you some day." You shrugged your shoulders "anyway, we should go back to the common room"
"Oh, right." Fred quickly swallowed the rest of his food and took out the map. "Alright, Filch is on the 5th floor and Mrs. Norris is in the dungeons. We should be able to just use the grand staircase to reach the common room"
You slowly open the painting door and the four of you make way towards the common room in silence, keeping tabs on Filch and Mrs. Norris's location.
"Camila" asked Lee with a very serious voice, you had just reached the Fat Lady's portrait and got into the common room without her screaming at you "Who's Jesus Christ?"
You had never snorted so much in your life before.
Your eyes felt heavy. They kept closing by themselves and you were so tired you could barely hear Professor Binns talking about the medieval times of magic. Astronomy might have been your least liked class, but History of Magic was definitely the worse and most tedious class you had.
Even though it had been a wonderful adventure to find the kitchens, you ended up going to sleep very late and had not gotten enough rest.
The class was quiet while Professor Binns spoke in the most monotone voice ever, worse than Professor Ophelia, although her classes had finally become somewhat interesting after she had actually started teaching spells.
The Gryffindor students shared this class with the Slytherin students, who also seemed to think the class was too boring to keep up. Usually you'd sit next to Adrian and spend class time writing notes to each other, talking about all the things you didn't get to talk about in your free time.
You didn't think it had to be a secret that you were friends with a Slytherin but sometimes even Angelina would give you a small judgmental look whenever you hanged out with him, you cared little since Adrian turned up to be a decent person, he was just very focused on being the best on everything, which kind of annoyed you.
He wasn't a stickler for the rules like Percy, but he was very motivated to do everything right.
Recently he hadn't been sitting with you. Instead, he had been sitting next to a fellow Slytherin, Cassius Warrington.
You disliked Cassius, he was indeed one of the "bad" Slytherins the twins kept talking about, even though you didn't believe all Slytherins had to be "evil", but you just deduced that maybe Adrian just wanted to concentrate on History of Magic classes instead of exchanging notes with you all the time, and you were okay with that.
But you still didn't trust that Cassius, lately Adrian had been acting a little strange whenever he was in the company of him, he kept quiet and to himself unlike his usual self whenever you two were together, you tried to brush it off but you had a bad feeling, like there was something rotten going on there. But instead of worrying about it, you had just been sitting next to Lee.
Thirty minutes into the class and you felt a touch on your back. The twins were sitting behind you and passed you a note, which you shared with Lee.
"Let's ditch class, he won't even notice"
You looked to the front of the class, the door was close to the teacher's desk, but Binns didn't need to sit at the desk since he was a ghost, something that still concerned you because certainly it couldn't be traditional to have a ghost teach a class. You wondered if he even knew that he was dead.
Professor Binns spent most of his time either floating in front of the blackboard or floating around the class. He never looked at the students, though, always looking straight in front of him, meeting no one's eyes.
It could be possible to sneak out of the room without him noticing, but it would need perfect timing, plus you couldn't all leave at once, so you grabbed your things and packed them inside your bag slowly. Lee and the twins followed.
Binns was floating in the middle of the class, still reciting whatever he had in his notes. He was facing the other way, so you turned around.
"How are we doing this?" you whispered.
"Follow my lead," replied Fred.
Fred slowly slid out of his chair and ducked under the table, George did the same, you looked to Professor Binns, he kept going on in his monotonous voice so you gave the twin a thumbs up and he motioned you to follow, both you and Lee ducked under the tables.
You saw the twins move through tables silently, hiding behind the sitting students. You moved along. When you locked eyes with the twins, you whispered to them.
"Last one outside has to write all our potion essays for tomorrow" you spoke so quietly, almost mouthing the words so you made little noise.
"Deal," they all agreed.
It had now become a race to see who would leave the fastest, and you didn't want to lose. You still loathed potions and the thought of having to write the same essay 4 different times sounded like torture.
You poked your head up to check where Binns was. He was now slowly floating towards the blackboard and you were halfway through the classroom. His back was still turned, so you took your chance and moved ahead. Angelina and Alicia's desk was close, but on your way there you felt someone trip you and you fell on your knees. You quickly crawled behind Angelina's chair, keeping yourself concealed by her.
Binns ceased talking for a second. Everything was quiet, and you wondered if anyone would rat you out. You looked behind to see who had tripped you and they met you with a venomous smile.
Cassius Warrington was sneering, and you saw that one twin had his wand out. Adrian was sitting right next to him with an apologetic look on him. He wasn't smiling at all, he looked like he was being forced to be complicit.
"Wingardium Leviosa" one twin whispered and Alicia's ink bottle started floating and slowly hovered, away from Cassius' view, towards his head. Alicia looked angry and glared at the twin, so you pulled your own ink bottle out of your bag and gave it to her.
Cassius lifted his hand and just as he inhaled some air in order to speak, the twin stopped his spell and the ink bottle fell right in Cassius's head, drenching him with ink.
Before anyone noticed, you ducked under Angelina's desk and moved towards the next one.
Cassius looked furious, and some students started snickering. Professor Binns immediately stopped again and looked frustrated.
"The subject might not seem interesting for you youths, but I assure you there will be a lot of homework about this. I would like for my class to not be interrupted!" the old ghost spoke.
"But Sir!" Yelled Cassius with rage "Someone just dropped ink on me!" his face was dripping with ink, it had gotten everywhere, his tie was now fully black, not a single line of Slytherin's house color, green, could be seen. The Gryffindor students were now laughing and giggling louder than before.
"What?" replied Professor Binns, he floated all the way towards Cassius's desk, passing right by you, so you seized your chance and made a run for the door as quietly as you could, not even looking back to see what was happening.
As soon as you were out, you leaned against the wall next to the door, so you could hear what was going on and to wait for any of the boys to come out next.
Inside the classroom you could hear Cassius's voice getting louder. One twin came out the door with a grin and stood on the other side, listening.
"It was a Gryffindor!" you heard Cassius, "And one of them just snuck out of the classroom!"
"Please lower your voice, this is not a circus, boy!" you heard Professor Binns, he sounded mad now. "Who did this? I do not tolerate this kind of behavior in my class!"
You peeked inside the classroom and you saw that one twin was under the teacher's desk, right next to the door, and Lee was nowhere to be seen.
"It was that girl, something Fox," Cassius spoke as if he was spitting out poison out of his mouth "She just sneaked out of the classroom too"
"Excuse me, sir," you heard Angelina's voice. "Camila Fox didn't even come to class. She's in the infirmary with a cold"
"Angelina coming in with a clutch," you whispered while grinning. "That's my girl!"
"You're a filthy liar" you heard Cassius's voice get louder.
"Excuse me?" Angelina replied in an offended tone.
Suddenly one twin emerged from the door in a hurry. He was biting his fist in order to not laugh and moved right next to you.
"He's being so melodramatic, it's just ink!" he muttered in your ear and you chuckled.
"Another one just left! Just check outside and you'll see!" you heard Cassius yell.
The three of you took off running as fast as possible splitting up, you only stopped running when you reached the 7th floor and you realized you were followed by only one twin, you leaned against a wall to catch your breath and then started giggling like a maniac.
"Did you see his face?" you were out of breath again, but this time because you couldn't stop laughing. "I can't believe we actually managed to run away"
"You have to admit, Camila, I have great aim," he said, while struggling to breathe. "Alicia is going to kill me," he started laughing again.
"George?" you asked, unsure.
"Yeah?" he answered.
"You're incredible"
Right before class time was over, you and George met Fred in the common room. He had ran away towards the kitchens and stayed there for some time, looking into the marauders map to see if Lee had left the classroom.
"Here, I brought some food so we can skip lunch in the great hall." He opened his bag and took out several small boxes that had an intense and delicious smell. "I asked the Elves to put it in boxes so I could carry it"
Fred had brought a large amount of cooked chicken legs, Shepherd's pies, scrambled eggs, and four green apples. You and George set everything on a table in a corner of the common room.
"What about Lee?" George asked. "Did he even make it out of the class?"
"Nope." Fred grabbed the map from inside his cloak along with his wand "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good!" and the marauders map came to life.
Fred placed the map on the table, and you glanced into it.
"According to the map, he's either sitting on top of Beatrice or, most likely, ducking under her legs," he snickered.
"How long has he been there?" asked George, trying not to laugh.
"The whole time. He hasn't moved since I last looked." Replied Fred, closing the map and hiding it under his cloak. "Poor guy. Guess we don't have to write our assignments tonight!" he fist bumped George in celebration.
"Class is almost over. Should we go get him?" you asked while grabbing a chicken leg and munching on it.
"I'll go." Replied Fred, also grabbing a chicken leg. "If Professor Binns sees you, Angelina's help will go down the drain" he swallowed the chicken flesh quickly. "You know what? Let's take the food outside. I'll bring Lee. I'll meet you in the clock tower courtyard"
George nodded in agreement and his twin left the room, you and him picked up the boxes and placed it inside your bags and made your way down from the seventh floor to the clock tower, while laughing and chatting about Cassius, half the way down you two heard the bell signaling the end of the second period classes, you could hear doors opening and students flooding the corridors, both of you tried to act as normal as possible as if you totally did not skip class.
After passing the hospital wing, you descended the stairs and sat in on one of the small half walls that surrounded the courtyard. It was a nice day outside. Even though it was cold, there was no wind or clouds and the sun was glowing.
You had the place to yourselves, the crowd of students all left toward the great hall for lunch, and it didn't take long for Fred and Lee to join you.
"Hey!" you yelled as soon as you saw the two boys coming down the stairs. "How was class, Lee?" you said mockingly.
"Ha ha. Hilarious." Lee approached you and George with furrowed brows and gave you a sour smile. "Do you know how many times Beatrice kicked me in my back? She was pissed, even called me a pervert" you and the twins started laughing and Lee let out a sigh of pain.
"You spent the rest of class between her legs, uh?" you said while snorting, unable to cease your laugh.
"No. I actually ducked under Binns' desk at the last minute. Good thing a ghost doesn't need to sit down!" Lee sounded exasperated. "Anyway, I'm hungry. I'll need tons of energy for those potion essays…"
You had already pulled all the food boxes out and laid them out on the wall so everyone could get easy access to food.
Even though it was cold, you took off your cloak and sat on top of it with an apple in your hand. The boys did the same, and you all stayed on the floor eating and chatting lively.
You noticed someone on top of the clock tower looking down, you couldn't tell who it was but they seem like they were trying to find someone, they quickly made their way to the stairs and started descending, the twins were now talking about their plan for Friday and giving out details about how it should go down.
"We'll ask Peeves…" spoke Fred, but was quickly interrupted by a yell behind him.
Cassius Warrington was walking quickly towards your corner. He seemed to be alone. Adrian had probably ditched him after that spectacular prank in the classroom. His face was contorted in rage. You got up quickly along with the boys because Cassius looked ready to fight."
"Ah look, you're all clean!" mocked Fred.
"Too bad, my aim was so perfect, you should have kept that look!" added George.
"Why would I want to look as disgusting as him" Cassius pointed to Lee with a sneer, clearly making fun of his skin tone.
You were shocked by his words. You couldn't believe he had just spouted such an awful comment. Anger overcame you and you didn't take a second to react. You took a quick and powerful step towards the Slytherin boy and clutched your right fist.
"You son of a bitch!" you yelled while pulling your arm behind you, gaining enough momentum to bring it back in force. Cassius' reaction wasn't fast enough to stop you. Someone tried to hold you but you slipped right out of their hands and heard someone say "Don't" but it was too late for second guesses.
You punched him right in the face in a quick move and felt his skin and bone in your fist, his head turned as if in slow motion and he took a step back, just as you were pulling your left arm to give him another nicely put punch, someone held you back, pulling on your hips. "Let go of me!" you muttered while trying to set yourself free.
"How dare you!" Cassius stroked his red cheek and before anything else could happen, he pulled his wand out and pointed it at you "You're gonna get it, now"
This time you were the one who didn't react in time since you were still being held back by someone behind you. He pointed his wand straight to your torso and shouted, "Flipendo!"
The spell hit you. For a second, you felt heat in your chest as if it had knocked all your air out of your lungs, and then you felt your body being pushed with extreme force, as if almost taking flight.
It happened so quick, the last thing you felt was a lot of pain in the back of your head. You were lying against the courtyard wall and you felt someone else's body underneath yours.
"Enough!" you heard a voice screaming in the distance, "Just what do you think you're doing, children?!" it was a woman's voice that you didn't recognize as being a teacher.
You rolled to the side so whoever was under you could get up, your head was pounding so you stayed on the floor, you tried looking up but your vision was blurry, you recognized the ginger hair of someone looking down on you but you could not tell which twin it was.
"Out of the way please!" you heard the woman's voice getting closer and closer until it was right next to you "You might have a slight concussion dear, let's get you to the infirmary" you felt something materialize under your body and in a second you were floating in the air.
"I will notify your head of house immediately. Slytherin is it? I shall call Professor Snape at once!" you finally realized this had to be Madam Pomfrey, the school healer. You hadn't been sick once, so you hadn't met her yet.
"But she punched me!" you heard Cassius yell.
"And you attacked her with a spell and threw her against a wall, dear boy!" you could barely hear anything else and closed your eyes.
It was Friday finally, but instead of skipping dinner to plan your great escape out of Hogwarts for one night, they forced you to meet Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape in the infirmary so you could talk about the fight you had with Cassius Warrington. Both the twins, Lee and Cassius himself, were called to the healer's room so Madam Pomfrey could act like a witness.
"Go on Cassius, explain what happened," said Professor Snape with a slight smile.
Cassius explained how it all started, from the beginning of your escape out of Professor Binns class, how George had enchanted an ink bottle to fall on his head and how you had punched him in the face. Of course, he had exaggerated on certain parts of his story, such as going on detail about how painful your punch had been and how he did nothing wrong, claiming he was clearly being bullied by "you lot" as he put it.
Madam Pomfrey had to interrupt him to remind both professors that he had used a spell against a student out of his free will.
"Well, it seems to me that Mister Warrington was simply defending himself," retorted Professor Snape in a gentle voice, still wearing his mocking smile on his face. "Clearly he was provoked. Plus, he had been dropped a bottle of ink by one of them. You can't possibly deny that he did not start this"
"Professor Snape I will not deny that what these children did was wrong" spoke Professor McGonagall in a stern voice "Skipping class and assaulting students with ink bottles is not a behavior we tolerate" she glared at you all "But you cannot compare a simple punch to a spell! Miss Fox had a concussion and spent the rest of the day in here!"
You felt fine now, but didn't enjoy your time in the infirmary at all. Madam Pomfrey had good intentions, but she was very annoying. She made you lie down on the bed for the rest of the day even after your head had stopped hurting. Fixing a concussion was easy because of her incredible skill but she had made you stay the night just to be sure everything was alright. If the fourposter bed was uncomfortable to sleep in, the infirmary bed was ten times worse, in your opinion.
Snape was quiet for a moment, staring menacingly at the four of you.
"I suggest a detention." He finally said after a couple of seconds of silence.
"Rightfully so!" added Professor McGonagall, and then she turned to you. "You will all get detention" you sighed impatiently. "You too, Miss Fox! You might have gotten the short end of the stick, but you were still wrong in leaving the classroom without permission and punching Mister Warrington!" you wanted to roll your eyes. Cassius seemed amused with the situation, which made you want to punch him again.
"Now which one of you used a spell to drop ink on Mister Warrington?" she asked, staring at the twins. George lifted his hand without a single drop of remorse in his face. McGonagall stared at him for a second until he stated he was George Weasley. It seemed not even McGonagall could tell them apart.
"I see, well Professor Snape I think both Mister George Weasley and Mister Warrington deserve a whole weekend of detention given that their actions are deemed the worse in this situation" McGonagall stared at Professor Snape, his smile was no longer there, he seemed very annoyed, but ended up agreeing. "And we will take 10 points from all FIVE of you!"
"May I suggest the punishment?" Snape used his gentle voice. At least it sounded gentle, but you could feel like there was a lot of deep anger in it. "The owlery tower has been getting rather filthy. I'm sure these students could help Mr. Filch clean it this weekend" a smile formed in the corner of his mouth.
"I agree. Mister Warrington and Mister Weasley will both spend Saturday and Sunday morning with Mr. Filch." You heard George groan and Cassius no longer seemed amused. "And Miss Fox, Mister Jordan and Mister Fred Weasley, you will only spend Saturday, but I assure you that any type of wrongdoing will earn you a Sunday morning of work too."
You nodded your head in agreement. It wasn't unfair, after all. You just didn't think you'd get caught. You remembered Angelina had lied for you, but thankfully Cassius seemed to have either forgotten or just skipped that part in his story, so you kept quiet all the way towards the great hall, the twins and Lee following you closely behind. When you finally sat at the table, most of the students had already left.
"Well, this sucks," Lee spoke first. "We're getting detention tomorrow, just when we had the perfect time to explore"
"Yeah, like that's going to stop me," said Fred, scoffing.
"I'm still going out tonight," added George.
"If we get caught, we'll be in trouble," you sighed, but then you looked at them with your most evil smirk etched into your face "But we're already in trouble so we might as well do it"
"Exactly"
