Chapter 5

.

Kalil was minding the store, just waiting for his replacement to arrive so he could go home. He was tempted to just close up, almost noone would come to this Quickstop at 3:15am. But there was one type likely to come at this time, armed robbers. Two young punks came to rob the store. They were wearing masks, but Kalil was pretty sure it was a guy and a girl. The owner kept a gun here for protection, Kalil had never even held it before. If he'd been thinking rationally he would have just left it alone. But between his fear, and the lack of sleep, Kalil grabbed it and started shooting. He shot the girl, mortally wounding her. But in the process Kalil was killed. The gunshots would attract attention, but the male robber refused to leave his girlfriend behind. She, and their baby, were dying in his arms, and there was nothing he could do to save them.

.

Josh and Amy snapped out of their daze. They weren't sure if it was a dream or not, but they could tell they'd both experienced it. Neither Josh nor Amy were certain what their new friend, Christy, had just done.

.

Amy: What was that?

Christy: That is your future, or at least a possible future.

Josh: Is there any way to change it?

Christy: Absolutely. Just don't go through with this stupid idea of robbing the store. I realize you're scared. And yeah, raising a kid is going to be hard. But Amy, do you really want to die in there, along with your baby?

Amy: No, I want to live and see this child grow up.

Christy: And Josh, do you want your girlfriend and baby to die, while you go to prison for the rest of your life?

Josh: Hell no.

Christy: Good. Now why don't you two go home and get some sleep. Tomorrow bring this gun to the "Toys for guns" drive, they won't ask questions about what you almost did.

Amy: Yeah, we'll do that. Are you like a guardian angel or something?

Christy: Something like that.

.

As Josh and Amy drove off Christy waited for her mentor, Cole. Ever since Christy had died, killed by her own sister, Cole had been helping her. Cole explained that because Christy had been unfairly manipulated by Evil, she was being given a final chance to redeem herself. Cole had willingly taken these demonic powers to prevent Barbas from taking them, so apparently that earned him a last chance as well. Cole had done some good in the afterlife, his final assignment was to mentor Christy, then he'd be reincarnated. This seemed like a good way to earn redemption, trying to persuade mortals not to commit crimes, like Josh and Amy had nearly done. Now Christy was able to do this on her own, had Cole already been reincarnated? But then he showed up.

.

Christy: I did it, I stopped Amy and Josh from robbing this store.

Cole: I'm glad, you're doing some real good.

Christy: I had a good teacher.

Cole: We have another assignement, it's an all hands on deck moment.

Christy: Who do we have to save?

Cole: A young woman named Pamela. We're also going to have to work with some old friends of ours, the Charmed Ones.

Christy: I am not working with Billie, she killed me.

Cole: And I have to work with the witches who killed me, one of whom is my ex-wife. Despite everything, I still love her, and I think a part of you still loves Billie.

Christy; A bigger part of me hates her.

Cole: I know how that feels, take my word for it, it's not worth it to hold on to your hatred forever. And if you want to be worth of redemption, you should try to reconcile with your sister.

Christy: Fine, let's get this over with.
