Chapter 4
"Sho, wait!"
The boy walked away quietly from the Osiris Red dormitory, his dulled eyes concentrated on the ground. One step at a time. All he needed was to take it one step at a time, and everything would be fine.
Judai ran after him. Edo followed suit, but kept his distance; he found the turn of events quite amusing.
The brunette finally caught up to him, embracing him in a fashion similar to the way in which he had held Edo previously. "I'm sorry!"
The shorter one receded into his boyfriend's chest. He wondered if he could continue calling him that. Boyfriend. It seemed inaccurate now.
"I was joking, Sho! We didn't actually –!"
"Don't make excuses, Aniki! I saw what I saw, okay? I'm not stupid! I can put two and two together! It equals four, Aniki! FOUR!"
Judai was taken aback by Sho's sudden outburst. "Whatever you say."
"First you had to run off with Kenzan-kun! Now you're after Edo Phoenix! How many other guys are you hiding? TELL ME!" he cried.
Edo laughed. Things were becoming more and more comical by the minute.
Judai shot the Pro Duelist a glare.
A sniffle.
"Y-you told me you loved me."
"I do love you. Sho. I love you more than anything else in the world! More than anyone else! You know that!"
"Then why did you," Sho hiccupped, "with Edo? You always said I was the only one for you! That nothing would come between us! Why then? Why can't it just be us? I'm right here!"
Judai cupped the boy's cheeks in his hand. "I was joking, Sho, I swear. You saw. Edo's lips were nowhere near me."
"And they never will be!" Edo made clear.
"What's goin' on? A party, da don?" Kenzan returned.
"Judai's busy arguing with his girlfriend," Edo chuckled. "Trying to let her down slow, you know?"
"Shut up, Edo! You've done enough!"
"Apparently not, since you're still not satisfied." He thoroughly enjoyed humiliating him, given the nuisance of being in his presence.
"What are you talking about? Nobody lays a hand on Aniki but me, zaurus!"
"Go ahead. I have no such intentions myself."
"That's better!" He turned to Judai. "Aniki, let's hit the hay, da don!"
The brunette was prepared to object, but was knocked over by the smaller body beneath him before he could voice his disagreement.
"Sho, come back!"
Sho raced onward and vanished among the crisscrossing trees of the forest, his tears streaking the wind.
…
"Per Saiou-sama's orders, we wish to schedule a duel with Yuki Judai."
"What is the meaning of this? A very important meeting is in progress! Do you all want to be expelled, de aru?" Vice Principal Napoleon angrily clapped back.
Manjome darkened (brightened?). The rest of the former students of Obelisk Blue followed his example.
His authority practically useless, Napoleon put on a smile to appease the group of rebelling students. "I guess we could reconsider, de aru."
"Out of the question!" Cronos interjected.
Manjome approached with a scowl. "I must insist. You don't want to anger White Thunder do you, Temporary Principal?"
"We will not negotiate, na no ne! That is my final word on the matter, no ne!"
"Pardon my intrusion."
"Saiou-sama!" Manjome bowed.
"Due to my tarot readings, I must confess a Duel with Yuki Judai is of the utmost importance."
"Mamma mia! Why, Saiou Takuma-kun, no ne?"
"Although I am currently enrolled at Duel Academia, I am still bound by my managerial duties as well. The Duel between Yuki Judai and an opponent of my choice will be useful publicity for both myself and the school."
"Ah, I see!" Cronos understood. "Feel free to use the main lecture hall then, na no ne!"
"Thank you. Most appreciated," Saiou answered kindly. "Manjome-kun will inform you of a specific date once I have selected an opponent for Yuki Judai."
With that said, Saiou and his retinue exited the office, leaving Cronos and Napoleon to their prior business.
"Is this really a good idea, de aru?"
Cronos pursed his lips.
We'll see.
