Chapter 7

"He's not here."

"What do you mean he's not here?"

Manjome folded his hands behind himself, pacing back and forth between the door and balcony of the second floor. "Saiou-sama left over an hour ago."

"Where?" Edo circled him as though it were an interrogation.

"Saiou-sama informed us he was meeting someone, and that's all."

"He didn't even tell you who?" Edo detested the ambiguity in Manjome's statement.

"No. If that is all, please excuse me. I must return to my duties."

Edo was already on his way. Loitering any further was pointless.

Following his brief talk with Manjome, Edo wandered over to Duel Academia's card shop by chance. There, he observed a large woman sweeping the floor furiously with her broom.

"You're that old lady who was with Judai back then." Edo remembered Kenzan's Duel with Saiou.

"How rude!" She advanced towards him. "Didn't your parents ever teach you to respect your elders?"

His shoulders sank. "My father was murdered, actually."

"Oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to!" she apologized. "We've never been formerly introduced, have we?"

"No, ma'am. The name's Edo Phoenix."

She smiled. "Kids around here call me Tome-san. You're Judai-chan's friend? He could use a real boost right now! Ever since little Sho-kun went missing, things haven't been the same. He usually stops by at the end of every week to check out the new cards we have in stock, but lately he's been too depressed!"

So the small fry didn't go crawling back to his hero?

"And they were such a cute couple!" Tome-san continued.

"Judai and his sidekick?"

"Yes, although I don't approve of you calling Sho-kun Judai-chan's sidekick! Those two were so in love! They had their first date here, you know?"

"Aniki, you sure it's okay to be doing this? What if someone finds out?"

"No sweat! Tome-san said she would keep quiet! Come on!"

"I don't know…"

The brunette kissed him. "So, we skip one class! Hardly anything new for us!"

Sho nodded. He knew Judai was trying his hardest to make their first date memorable. He loved him…That was enough.

"You ready?"

"Hold on a sec." Sho batted his eyelashes. "What do you think?"

Judai played along. "Adorable as always."

"Then I'm ready!"

Together, they cracked their first pack paid with both their money.

"And that's the whole story! If you'd like to hear another, I –"

"It's best I get a move on," Edo declined.

"Oh, all right then! Have a good night!"

Just as Edo went outside, he spotted Tenjoin Asuka on her PDA.

"What is she doing here?" He hid behind a tree.

"Yes, Saiou-sama," she reported.

"Saiou?" Edo leaned closer. "What are you up to?"
