Vice Principal Bump wrung his hands in distress. He had just stored away the Scroll of Observance, a rare artifact inherited by the school many years ago. It began when students were going missing during detention, and parents wanted to find them. Said to be the only of its kind, the school had faced many a legal battle to acquire said scroll. Frequently, it was used for truant students, but every once and a while the Emperor's Coven called upon the school to catch an uncovened child.

Bump hated it, but the law was the law, and he was assigned to hunt these children down. It was better than Principal Faust terrifying them as they were forcefully branded. Bump shuddered as he made his way down the cobbled path to his humble abode. It would be better for everyone if the scroll never existed.

What bothered Bump even more, however, were the startled yellow eyes he spied watching the whole thing. Bump knew those eyes anywhere. Part of him feared what Edalyn Clawthorne would do with such knowledge, part of him looked forward to it. Turning back to glance at Hexside, dimly lit in the moonlight, Bump returned to his previous thought. It would be better for everyone if the scroll never existed. Perhaps there was a solution to this predicament.
