Day 9 - Kidnapped

Whumpee: Cordell (Mentioned)

Caretaker: Bonham

Other Characters: Liam, Abeline

TW: Blood, Car crash, Kidnapping, mentions of getting shot

Decided to take a break from the Brotherhood and write a really short Walker fic.

The events of this fic had been discussed in detail through mine and Line's DMs between the airing of 1x17 and 1x18 so at the time it was a prediction/coda and now it's officially AU lol. I wanted to write it anyway but I never expected to write it from Bonham's perspective and yet here we are.

Please enjoy!

The ringing phone was broadcasted over the truck's speaker making Bonham tense. He hated that thing. So loud for no reason. Abeline chuckled beside him and Bonham rolled his eyes as he saw Liam's name on the screen. He hit the button, answering the call.

"Don't tell me you got lost."

"Are you still driving?"

"Of course! Unless you found some short cut I've never heard of which is doubtful."

"Pull over."

Warning bells began ringing in Bonham's head. "What happened?"

"Pull off the road."

This time he complied, pulling off the road. As he slid the truck into park, Abeline's hand slid over his.

"We're stopped. What happened?"

"It's- it's Cordi."

Bonham closed his eyes, letting out a breath and returning his wife's hand squeeze.

"Just tell me, son."

"He's missing. We think he was taken."

"How does someone kidnap a Texas Ranger in broad daylight?!" He snapped, trying to process what he'd been told. Things just never stopped. After everything they'd been through, things had finally started calming down, and now this?

There was a heavy silence on the other end and Bonham knew there was more. "What else." He said quietly.

"We- we found his truck. It was run off the road. Totaled. It must have- must have rolled down. Multiple tracks leading away. And- and there's blood. A lot."

Bonham blew out a breath.

"Where are the kids?" Abeline asked in a quiet, very un Abeline way.

"Uh, there, uh up at the road. In my truck. We were on our way into town to pick up some things and Stella saw the truck. I won't let them come down."

"We're heading that way, son."

"Yeah, yeah, uh, James is coming too. I guess he called Micki maybe I should-"

"Don't worry about it. James will take care of things. Go back up and sit with the kids 'til they get there."

"But-"

"The kid's need you son." And Liam needed them. "We'll find your brother but there's nothing you can do right now." There was nothing any of them could do.

"Okay, okay, I'll head back up- just- just get here."

"We're on our way."

The call ended but Bonham didn't move. He continued staring out the windshield, thinking briefly back to the night that Emily had died. How out of left field her death had come. How it had crushed the family. How things were just now getting back to normal.

Then there was his cancer. If Cordell was dead-

No. Cordi had gone missing before. He'd been injured before. He'd always come through the other end relatively alright.

But this felt different. Bonham couldn't explain it. It felt too familiar. Too dark. His son had been kidnapped by who knew who for who knew what. And he was injured. Bleeding. This feeling was something that he, as a father had had the misfortune of experiencing in different instances.

Liam had been shot- nearly died. Cordi had gone missing once when he was overseas. He'd been injured on the job a few times since returning home. Then there was the whole undercover op that he would be quite happy to never go through again. Stella had gone missing for awhile, got herself mixed up with the bad guys. Then of course Hoyt. Bonham had never been overly fond of the rebellious young man but he could appreciate who he was to his wife. To his son.

Maybe it was the timing. Maybe it was just everything that had happened in the past year. Just one more thing, seemingly out of the blue. Cordell wasn't currently wrapped up in any cases that he knew of. Northside had been an ongoing threat but he'd never thought they'd make such a blatantly offensive move.

"Bonham?" Abeline touched his arm, drawing him out of his thoughts.

The father cleared his throat, "Yeah, yeah we best get back. Sorry to postpone the shindig."

"We'll just have to make Cordi make it up to us. He just loves to stir up trouble on the most important days." She said with a weak smile, returning her hands to her lap.

Bonham nodded, pulling the truck back on the road. It was a statement of faith. Everything would be okay. Cordi would come back alive and in one piece. He always had. Lord willing, he always would.

I know it's really short but still. Let me know what you think! I still wish we saw the Walker's finding Cordi's demolished truck and thinking the worst. What happened was good to tho.

The next fic is going to be SPN Brotherhood again but there might be some more Walker IDK yet.

Anyway, lemme know what you think!

God bless,

Jamie
