Bio

THE VIGILANTE

The Fox. The Vigilante. Aiden Pearce goes by many names and remains an extremely elusive figure. Always living on the edge, Aiden's true wrath was unleashed following the death of his niece, 6 year old Lena Pearce. The trail of blood following that day was a mile long. The city of Chicago was never the same again. Despite his massive impact on the Windy City, no one is sure of his personality, his ticks, what continues to drive him. Not even the few people that know him. All anyone understands for sure is his capabilities. With his fighting skills and marksmanship he is deadly enough, but his real strength lies in his hacking. Able to bring entire cities to their knees, Aiden's phone may as well be a wand from which the most potent of magic is cast.

Intro

On the streets of downtown Chicago, Aiden walked amongst the crowd, unknown to everyone. To say his life was tumultuous was an understatement. Especially after recent events in London, it seemed as though trouble always found him. "I guess there's never any peace for guys like me." He suggested. "No matter how well I cover my tracks, or how much I insist I'm done with this kind of stuff, it always comes back. But this...this seems beyond even me." He looked at his phone, confirming the details of his latest contract. "I'm not sure who this guy is or what he wants, but he doesn't take no for an answer. Nothing I say matters. I guess he views me as a pawn in some sick game of his." He shook his head. That, more than anything else, was the reason he was going. Some guys needed to be taught a lesson. "I thought I made it clear that isn't who I am. Even the biggest in this damn city understand that. I guess I must have missed a spot." He then arrived at a car and got inside. "Clean up jobs are what I do. I'm the vigilante."

Rival Scene

Aiden had seen a lot at this stage. A lot more than he bargained for. He wasn't entirely convinced that this wasn't some bad digital trip. The other fixers were downright weird. Aiden didn't even know if some of them would even need money. Not least his next opponent. A raccoon jumped down from up high, with a crook in his hand while wearing a hat and a jumper. "Well, this is new." Aiden remarked. "I'll say." The raccoon agreed. "I thought I'd gotten rid of all the stragglers." So, the rodent had an attitude. "Yeah, but I'm not a straggler. I guess I'm not well known in the raccoon world." The raccoon shrugged. "Well...yeah, that's it. But hey, I'm only after whatever's up ahead. If you turn back now I'll save you the embarrassment of being beaten by a raccoon." Aiden nodded. "Uh-huh, sure. Well Mr. Raccoon, if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that they don't call me the fox for no reason." He pulled out his baton while the raccoon readied his crook. "You'll find out why soon enough."

Outro

"Whatever that was, I'm still not sure. I guess a welcome distraction from the hardships of life." Aiden found himself back wandering the streets. It had been a hell of a journey. Whatever those people wanted, they wouldn't get it. They made the mistake of standing in his way. "Whoever that guy was knows now that I don't take lightly to being toyed with. Maybe now I can get some reprieve from all this. Leave the vigilante stuff behind." He knew that was wishful thinking, but he liked to dream. The truth was that Aiden understood the importance of his work. "I guess not. There's always going to be a cost for this kind of thing, but I can afford it." He watched as his phone began to glow blue, alerting him to a crime taking place in a nearby alleyway. Then he started to glow blue as well. "Besides, I think things are going to be a little easier for me from now on."

Author's Note

Rivalry Connection: Both end up without their parents, Sly due to becoming an orphan, Aiden due to running away. Both become part of criminal gangs and both prefer to use stealth. Both have a 'guy in the chair', Bentley for Sly and a variety of characters for Aiden. Despite being thieves, both characters are ultimately good at heart and fight evil.

I have a soft spot for Watch Dogs. Despite the overwhelming consensus being negative, I think in its own right Watch Dogs is a very good game, just underneath the weight of impossible expectations that Ubisoft placed on it. I haven't played any of the other ones, but Legion intrigues me.
