Bio

THE SON OF SPARDA

The second 'Son of Sparda', Dante and his twin brother Vergil were trained by their father from an early age. Despite being half demon through him, Dante would not figure this out until much later in his life. Tragedy struck when Sparda died of unknown circumstances, leaving their mother to care for them both until a demon attack killed her and separated the two brothers. Dante since became a gun/sword for hire, killing demons in pursuit of vengeance for his dead mother and corrupted brother. Dante's skill is only matched by his overwhelming arsenal. Dante has used every kind of weapon that could have possibly been dreamed up by even the most insane mind. Though he normally sticks with his sword Rebellion and twin pistols Ebony and Ivory. With his demon killing feats and immense displays of strength and speed, Dante is a highly dangerous opponent for anyone to come up against.

Intro

Yet again a slow day at the Devil May Cry. Dante's bounty hunting business operated off a strange model of long droughts between big pay days, something which he had grown accustomed to. The shop owner was eating pizza while sprawled out on the couch, not caring much for any pretense of a professional image which he may or may not have had to maintain. "Hey, it's for you." Trish tossed an envelope at Dante like a shuriken, though Dante still caught it. "Hm?" It was a really unusual letter for starters. Not many came in purple. But it was addressed to him, so he opened it. The letter got weirder still the more he read it. "What's it say?" Trish asked. "Some tournament is taking place and yours truly is invited." He explained. "They said if I win I'll get a blank cheque." The idea sounded appealing to him. He was low on funds now, so if this was true then it could solve his financial woes for a while. "Really? I guess if that's true you'd better get going then. What's the catch?" The catch seemed almost not like a catch in contrast to some of the work Dante had done in the past. With pizza in his mouth, Dante read it aloud. "It says I have to go alone. We said Dante is invited and we didn't mean Trish when we said that." He quoted. "Ouch. Hope you'll be ok without me." Trish remarked sarcastically. "Well, I'd better get going." Dante picked himself up off the couch. "I guess that blank cheque isn't gonna write itself."

Rival Scene

Dante swung Rebellion around in one hand, rather half-heartedly. "If things keep up at this rate, this'll be the easiest blank cheque I ever get my hands on." He thought aloud. Then a young man with cartoonishly large shoes dropped down in front of him, wielding a giant key. Dante groaned. This was obviously his next opponent. He hoped appearances were deceiving. "Well kid, hope you're ready." He pointed Rebellion at Sora, forcing him to step back. "Eh? I'm sorry, what?" He asked confusedly. "That cheque has my name on it, and if I have to go through you to get it you should know I'm not going easy on you just cause you're a kid." Sora shook his head. "A cheque? Geez mister, no offence but you've got your priorities all mixed up. There's a lot more than money at stake here!" He raised the Keyblade to meet Rebellion. "I'll teach you a lesson, for my world and for my friends!" Dante chuckled. "You've got guts kid, I'll give you that. I hope you can back that up."

Outro

Dante bust open the door of the Devil May Cry, cheque in hand. "Jackpot!" He proclaimed. "Oh hey, welcome back." Trish greeted. "Everything went well then?" Dante nodded as he threw the cheque on a table. "Yeah, not my normal type of gig but eh, I'm back in one piece. Who am I to complain?" He threw himself back on the couch and began eating the remainder of the now cold pizza, not that it seemed to bother him. "You seem really nonchalant about this." She noted. "Thought you'd be a little more excited." Dante shrugged. "I guess the feeling just hasn't caught up with me yet. It was surprisingly easy, y'know?" Dante clicked his fingers and began glowing blue. "I even got this stuff for free." Trish seemed somewhat impressed by it, albeit not understanding what 'it' was. "What is that?" She asked. "Some kind of power." Dante answered. "I'm not sure what it does but I guess it'll make the next job I take a little easier." Dante was about to eat another slice before adding, "Not like I need that help or anything." Trish rolled her eyes. Weird blue power or no weird blue power, Dante was Dante.

Author's Note

Rivalry Connection: Both Dante and Sora wield versatile bladed weapons in addition to otherworldly magic. Both are able to access the powers of those they fight againt (Dante's demon powers and Sora's heartless form). Both are able to travel across worlds and fight characters from other sources (Dante from Greek & Egyptian mythology and Abrahamic Theology, Sora from Disney and Final Fantasy), both have also appeared in other fighting games outside PSAS (Dante in Marvel vs Capcom and Sora in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.)

I do understand that Dante and DmC Dante are separate characters but I feel like including the latter as a skin is a nice touch. I understand he wasn't well received by fans but as a call back to the original All-Stars game the sentiment is nice. This moveset was tough for unusual reasons. Rather than a lack of moves, Dante had too many. I wanted to preserve his fun fighting style from PSAS but also cram in weapons from his games that were thrown to the wayside. So this is the result.

I also considered not giving him a cheque at the end but figured it was mean. Happy spending. Cold pizza is perfectly fine, I'll fight you if you disagree.
