Bio

EL LUCHADOR MAYOR

Juan Aguacate (literally John Avocado when anglicized) was a simple agave farmer who happened to fall in love with El Presidente's daughter, Lupita. Their love was something that would last until death, something that would come very quickly for Juan. Lupita was kidnapped by the devillish Carlos Calaca who planned to merge the worlds of the living and the dead to rule over both as a god. Juan would don a mythical luchador mask and set off to stop him. With a colourful cast of characters at his back to do all his talking for him (Juan is not one for talking) as well as enemies who also liked to talk, Juan was able to hone his abilities to such a fine degree that when the rematch between him and Calaca came, Juan was the clear victor. He was able to save Lupita and seven years later, the Mexiverse. Juan does not rely on items to achieve victory, only his own skills. He has refined them to such a degree that he can be considered the greatest luchador of all time, finally achieving his childhood dream. Such a title is not merely for show, as anyone who takes on Juan will find out very quickly.

Intro

Juan enjoyed his simple life as an agave farmer. With his beautiful wife and two children, he had everything he ever wanted. The world didn't even need saving that much anymore. That was until Uay Chivo showed up. The cantankerous hermit normally didn't bear good news. "Hey Juan, I got some news for ya. Nah, the world's not in danger." He added upon noting Juan's change in expression. "Basically there's this guy who thinks he can rule over all the worlds or something, I thought you might be interested." He explained. "That seems awfully like the world is in danger." Lupita noted. Uay shrugged. "I didn't want to worry you. Anyway Juan, whaddaya say?" A box appeared above them both with a yes and a no in it, a finger pointing at the yes, then at the no, then it began rapidly alternating between the two and- "Juan, the game can't start until you say yes." Uay reminded him. Juan pressed yes and did his luchador pose before running off to fight whatever it was that was threatening the world this time.

Rival Scene

Juan arrived in the crystal arena still full of energy. This had been a good test of his skills thus far, a good workout but he had still been able to overcome the obstacles in his path. "Howdy partner." A gringo cowboy strode into view. "I'm guessing I must be back in Mexico, but I tell ya what, they must have been doin' some remodellin' while I was gone. Habla usted inglés?" Juan still said nothing. John looked up and noticed the mask on his face. It looked awfully familiar if memory served correctly. "Say, where'd you get that mask?" Again, nothing. Juan didn't like where this was going. He had no idea what John was talking about and there was no way he could take off the mask. "Well, I guess I'd better do the talking. That mask has caused an awful lot of trouble for the world once before and I ain't gonna let that happen again." He whipped out his revolver. "Now you're gonna drop that mask or I'm gonna take it off ya while your soul is playin' a harp up in the sky!" Juan assumed a fighting stance, determined not to let the man have his mask.

Outro

"Welcome back hombré." Uay greeted as Juan returned home, in much the same condition as he left. "It's good to see you again Juan, thank goodness you're alright." Lupita wrapped her arms around her husband before releasing. "So, I'm guessing it wasn't too much trouble then." Uay suggested. "You don't seem like you had to try too hard." Juan thought about it. That wasn't entirely true, but it was difficult to explain for a man who didn't even speak all that much. "Maybe the world wasn't in danger after all. Like I said." Uay suggested. "Better safe than sorry I guess. Oh well, later Juan." With that, the hermit was off. "I'm gonna head inside Juan, don't stay out for too long okay? Oh yeah, take off that mask before you come inside." With that, Juan was on his own again. He took off the mask and stared at it as it began to glow blue, which was incredible considering it was normally blue anyway. A little souvenir for his troubles. He put it in his pocket and walked inside after a hard day's work.

Author's Note

I've yet to play Guacamelee 2 or Super Turbo, which is really weird considering how much I loved the first Guacamelee. Genuinely brilliant game and while Juan doesn't speak, he's got a great design and a fun moveset.
