"Party time!" Harper puts her hands on her hips as she turns to her best friend, who was busy dusting the floor before any guests ruined the bedroom. Alex knew giving her friend her old training wand was inherently a bad idea but Harper was more cautious than her, so Alex knew the wand was in the right hands. They both stepped out and started greeting guests.
"Attention, everyone!" Harper starts. "If you need your drinks opened just ask me and I'll do it with magic," She pauses, as if she was waiting for someone to protest.
"Because I can. Which is why it's OK for me to live here," Alex rolled her eyes at her best friend. Could she be any less obvious about being a non-wizard?
"So, yeah. Open bottles!" The party continues as the caps fly off the bottles and incites a more welcoming mood.
"Harper, what are you doing?" Mason walks up to the bubbly redhead after she casted a spell, something he thought was impossible for humans to do.
"Magic. What else would I be doing? You know me. Always doing magic,"
Harper gives Mason a sheepish look as he waits for the proper explanation, crossing his arms as Harper spills the beans.
"Yeah, it's a training wand. It has one power; it opens things," Someone caught her eye at the window, causing her to storm off in the other direction, abandoning the training wand as she yelled out, "DON'T MESS WITH THE VIEW! It matches my outfit, NO!"
Mason, seizing the opportunity, decided to act on it by swiping the wand before anyone could notice him. Meanwhile, on the other side of the room was a very confused Justin Russo as he scanned the room for Alex or Harper to figure out what the hell was going on.
He had never been to a party like this before, and he was even more so shocked that the girls were getting away with this. Justin had anticipated the apartment to be empty, barely touched as the girls literally moved in earlier today.
He was holding Alex's magazine—which was rolled up just how she hated it. Alex was a strong non-believer in rolling up magazines since they mostly wrinkled the paper and ruined the effect of the ads, whatever that means.
"Harp-" He's about to call for his friend, at the same time as Mason was making his move.
"Open Alex's heart."
"Oh hi there." Alex seemed to feel more light, more open. Justin's eyebrows furrowed as she pushed her way through the crowd to find him.
"Alex, what's going on? You threw a party in less than 24 hours of you moving in here?" He scolds her, like a concerned older brother would but instead is met with a warm side hug.
"Justin, chill out. It's just a housewarming party. Besides, Harper's the one that came up with it."
She simply smiles up at him as Justin's eyes widen when he realizes he had another problem somewhere else.
Mason was none the wiser, he thought the spell didn't work, so he aimed for Alex again, but he quickly lost sight of the Russo siblings as they disappeared into the throng of people, and Mason couldn't do much else except enjoy the party instead of strategizing how to win Alex back all within one night.
"Alex, why are you squeezing me so tightly? You're kinda freaking me out." Justin could feel his heart pounding in his chest as his sister just squeezed him tighter, smiling like she hadn't seen him for years.
"You're so warm. Stay like this for a while." Justin was surprised. Normally Alex wasn't the one to suggest they prolong the hugs. But for whatever reason, Justin felt like this one came off a little different.
It's wrong to start thinking awful thoughts when Alex acts a little bit nicer towards him in contrast to her normal rude demeanor. But Justin can't help it. He's always felt a sort of complex connection to his little sister ever since they became Wizards. After they found out they had powers, they had an unexplainable bond.
"Okay…so what's up?" Justin asks as they found a spot in the bathroom for a moment of privacy, since Alex was acting even more aloof than usual.
"Did you know that I actually like fighting with you? It's like when we argue about something dumb I remember how easy everything used to be, before you grew up and became this teacher, and before we learned how to work together. God, I used to be so dumb. Acting out just so I could get your attention,"
Justin raises an eyebrow. Alex admitted to wanting his attention? Wow, now he knows that there certainly is something wrong with her. "I was just a scared little girl then. Now I'm a woman. And my feelings still haven't changed," What is she talking about? Part of him knew the answer already, but part of him didn't want to admit that's what this was.
"Then you got a girlfriend and I started seeing you less. Then when we started picking fights again I got really happy because you were giving me attention again. Maybe it's selfish for me to feel this way but I felt like we were drifting apart." Her eyes welled up with tears as she confessed this to him, Justin biting his bottom lip as he wanted to interrupt her, just to say—"I like fighting with you too!"
He got flustered quickly, turning bright red as Alex flashed a smile. "You may be a headache, and you spend most of your time making messes, but I live to step in and fix everything. You still somehow manage to make me a better Wizard. I don't know why or how but it just works. No matter how far apart we are now."
Alex couldn't resist it anymore. She may be unaware that she was under a spell, but that didn't stop her from acting on her feelings. She closed the gap between her and Justin in one swift movement, closing her eyes and living in the moment.
Justin, at first in shock, quickly decided to betray his brain by acting on his physical urges. He put his arms on either side of her and kissed back, as Alex grabbed his sleeves and pulled him closer, sitting on the sink as she had her legs wrapped around Justin's torso. Justin leaned over the counter, kissing Alex fiercely before they broke apart for air.
After catching his breath, he regained clarity in his mind.
"We should head back to the party." Alex, still under the influence of the spell, hooks her legs around Justin's hips, now playing a dangerous game as she seductively positioned herself in a way that a brother and sister should never be posing in the first place, making Justin feel more guilty as she protested.
"Or, we could stay here and make out." He felt sick for even considering the offer, hearing screaming from outside to grant his exit.
"That's wrong on so many levels. We should probably go check the screams, it's probably something important." Justin left first, leaving Alex in the bathroom all alone.
