The next day; Governor Diane Foxington with Frost and Mick was in front of the Bad Guys, inside Marmalade's mansion. She held up a newspaper with a frozen image of the Bad Guys splashed across the cover. The headline read: "BAD GUYS TERRORIZE ADORABLE RODENTS?
She glared at the crew, who were all look sheepish.
"Trespassing! Burglary! Mayhem! Assault with a deadly reptile!" She said.
Princess was babbling what Diana was saying when she was sitting next to the bad guys. She, Frost, and Mick were ticked off their crimes as she scolded them for the previous evening's events.
"As if those poor rodents haven't been through enough already!" She said.
"This is what you do with your second chance?" Frost asked.
"This is was clearly a mistake." Mick said in a harsh way.
"Diana please-" Professor Marmalade tries to explain but Diana interrupts.
"Whoa ok I'm sorry, Professor." She drops the newspaper and walks away. "but I'm calling the chief this experiment is over." She said.
She marched out of the room. Marmalade trailed after her, begging,"Experiments take time."
Everyone looks at snake and glares.
"You couldn't help yourself?" Wolf growled at Snake as soon as they'd left.
"So I had a moment of weakness," Snake argued.
"Sue me!"
"That's going to be difficult to do from prison!" Wolf snapped.
"Uh oh." Princess babbles then she giggles.
"Uh oh is right!" Wolf says as he agrees with Princess.
"Guys!" Webs sighed. "What do we do now?"
"It's time to launch a charm offensive." Wolf said. He put on his biggest smile.
"Oh yeah," Shark said, nodding, "The full Clouney."
Wolf chased after Marmalade and Diane, who were now chatting in the atrium, princess peeks her head out and watches him run.
"Madame Governor, Frost, Mick," he said, his voice smooth and flirty, "Diane!"
Diane lifted an eyebrow. "Do not try to Clooney us, Wolf."
Wolf wasn't deterred. "Oh, I see what's going on. You think I'm still a Bad Guy! Just trying to bamboozle my way to freedom. But we've changed. That flower of goodness? It's blossoming all over the place."
Diane glared at him, exasperated. "Don't you ever get tired of lying?" She sighed.
"No," Wolf said quickly. The three glare at him. Then, "I mean- fudge, that's a trick question, right?"
"We gave you an opportunity!" Diane blurted out.
"A chance to show the world that you're more than just a scary stereotype. But you're too proud, or too gutless, to rake advantage of it!" She said.
Wolf cringed. "Gutless? I'm gutless?" He chuckles sarcastically.
"I'm sorry, have we met? I'm the villain of every story! Guilty until proven innocent. Even if, by some miracle, we did change~-who's gonna believe us? Huh, Of course, you wouldn't know anything about that, with your Little Miss Perfect power suits and with you to as superheroes." Wolf said.
Diane spat back. "Is that so?" She pulled out the diamond ring Wolf stole from her during the museum heist.
Wolf patted his pocket, where he'd been sure the ring was still nestled, safe and sound.
"Wait a second...what? How did you.?" Wolf asked dumbfounded.
Diane rolled her eyes.
"A wolf and a fox are not so different," she said then Diane flicked the ring at him, and he caught it.
"There's more than meets the eye." Mick added.
"So people see you as bad guys, so what? Me and my old partner Snart were criminals and feared by everyone in Central City. But when we were recruited by a British time traveler to join his team to save time, we changed. We were still us, only on the right side. We still stole, but only stuff that didn't matter to the timeline. Then Snart sacrificed himself to save us. He died a Legend. I continue that work as a Legend to honour him." Mick explained.
"Do you think it was easy for me and Mick here? I was under the influence of Savitar to kill the Flash, but my friends didn't give up on me. I got a second chance from my friends and family. I soon had to pay for all the crimes I committed to the public, to show everyone I had changed. It wasn't easy, but I managed to do it. If Me and Mick could, so can you and your friends." Frost explained.
"They're right. Maybe they will believe you, maybe they won't. But it doesn't matter. Don't do it for them- do it for you and Princess." Diane said.
Wolf acted all clueless when he realized that she knew about him and Princess.
"What are yo-I have no idea what your talking about." He questioned her.
Then Diana crosses her arms at him, along with Frost and Mick.
"Don't act so dumb, we've seen the way she looks at you, the way you two bonded." Mick said.
"Oh please, there is nothing going between me and that baby, we're just holding on to her until her dad bails her out, we kidnapped her and just like every other children she's just afraid of us." Wolf snarled.
"If that's true then how come she doesn't scream or cry whenever she's with you, don't you think that she sees you as her own father then her real father?" Frost said.
Wolf thought about then they heard Princess giggling as they looked down to see her looking at Wolf then Diana.
"This is a chance to write your own story. To find a better life for you and your friends! And maybe for Princess too, Come on, what have you got to lose?" Diane asked.
"I dunno." Wolf shrugged. Then he lifted one fluffy eyebrow and suggested, "My dignity?"
Diane and Frost eyed up the footie pajamas he was still wearing.
"Yeah, well, that ship has already sailed." She and two then stepped outside and into Diane's car.
Wolf looks down as he realizes he was still in sheep clothing then he hears Princess laughing at him.
She rolled down the driver's side window.
"Believe it or not, I'm rooting for you, Wolf." She said.
"Same here with me and Mick." Frost said.
"You're not going to call the chief?" Wolf asked.
"We'll see you at the gala?" Diane said. Then they drove off, leaving Wolf to think about all the things she'd said.
He turns to see princess looking at him cluelessly. Later that night, while the other guys relaxed inside the mansion, Wolf wandered outside, looking up at the moon.
With Frost, Mick, and Diane's words from that afternoon still ringing in his ears, maybe it was time for him to drop the act? Could it be time for the Bad Guys to be good, and actually find a better life for themselves?
As he sat alone, he was greeted by Princess, he turns around to see her standing and watching behind him. He turns back to look back at the moon, then Princess walks over to him, tries to climb on his lap and rest her tiny head on his lap, he looks down and smiles, she returns the smile back showing him her pearly whites. Wolf then rubbed her head as she gets comfy sleeping on his lap.
"You know troublemaker, I often wonder what it would be like if the world wasn't so afraid of me, I mean you're not afraid of me, right?" He asked.
"Uh huh." she hums and nods her head like she understand him.
But then something happened, he saw her take his large hand and wraps it around her like a blanket. Wolf was surprised but when he saw her snuggling with his hand, he felt something else then a good tingling.
Unconditional love from a child, he smiles deeply as he watches princess sleep, then he hears the cat from earlier still stuck in the tree. He looks down at Princess then back at the tree with a concern look, He takes off his hoodie and gets quietly without waking up Princess. After taking Princess inside, he walks under the tree with the trapped cat. He was ready to try this again. This time, instead of trying to lure the cat down from the tree. When Wolf approached the tree, The cat looks down at him and meowed.
"I think we got off to a bad start. The name's Wolf." Wolf said as he climbed up.
But the cat meowed in terror, stepped backward, cowering.
"Yep," Wolf said sadly. "I get that a lot. First impressions and all."
Wolf continued to climb then he saw the cat trying to get away from him. The cat then jumped on a branch that wasn't sturdy as Wolf saw that the cat was about to fall.
"No no!" Wolf shouts.
Suddenly, the cat slipped off her branch. Wolf heard the cat screaming.
"Ah" they both screamed then Wolf instinctively caught her, setting the poor kitty gently on a more stable branch. Then he backed away, giving the cat some space.
"It's okay," he promised. "It's okay I'm not going to hurt you. I know you're scared. I would be too, if I were you. Just gimme a chance. Truth is, we actually have a lot in common."
The cat looked at him warily. Wolf leaned a little closer and whispered, "Don't tell anyone, but I love a little scratch on that spot behind my ears-y'know, right there. The best."
The kitty moved a little closer when she sees Wolf scratching behind his ears, warming up to Wolf with each word. He was an arm's length away from the frightened cat, Wolf reaches his hand out to the cat, the cat still terrified backs two steps away until.
"Come on kitty" wolf cooed.
The cat sniffed at Wolf's hand, and then she began to purr and she rubbed her head against his hand and Wolf puts her and scratches behind her ears.
She gently and gingerly crawled into his hands. Wolf climbed down, the cat still nestled carefully into the crook of his arm. A warm shiver ran down his spine, all the way to his wagging tail. It felt good!
"Yeah, who's a good kitty?" he muttered. "Who's a good kitty?"
Just as Wolf settled into the snuggle, the other Bad Guys arrived. They gaped up at their pal, who was walking away from the tree with a cuddling cat.
Webs blinked. "Uh Wolf? Um You. . saved him??"
Just then, Professor Marmalade with Aki and Fire stepped out of the bushes. He was holding his phone up.
"Yes!" he cried, stopping his video recording. He'd caught the whole thing on his phone camera and now he quickly uploaded it to the Web.
"Yes, it's working!" He cheered.
"Way to go!" Aki said.
"You-you filmed that?" Wolf asked.
"Yes!" Marmalade cried happily. "And they're starting to like you."
"Look at what they're saying about you, Wolf." Fire Man said pointing at the comments.
The rest of the guys cheered.
"This might just be enough to win over the guests at the gala."
"Now we're talking!" They all whooped. "All right! We did it!"
Wolf grinned. They all headed proudly back toward the mansion, but on the way, Marmalade pulled Wolf aside.
"Oh Wolf," he said quietly. "I must say, you've
really turned a corner. You're really getting it."
"Really?" Wolf chuckles. "Oh well thanks."
He glanced down at Wolf's still-wagging tail.
"Oh no I mean it, I can see it from top to tail, It's just a shame that you have to carry all that baggage."
Wolf cast a glance at the professor.
"What you talk-You mean the guys what you mean?"
Behind them Snake overheard and he took a glance with a worried look on his face.
Marmalade nodded. "You have great potential, Wolf. But at some point, you're going to have to choose between your friends... or the Good Life."
"But these guys are my best friends I could never abandon them." Wolf said.
Professor marmalade smirks friendly then he pats Wolf's hand and walks away but not before saying.
"Well I'm sure Princess wouldn't like that now would she?" He said. This puzzled Wolf.
"Wha-what are you talking about?" Wolf asked.
Professor Marmalade turns like Wolf knew what exactly what he was talking about.
"Oh don't think I don't know, I saw you outside with her, she loves you like you were her own father."
"But she has her own father." Wolf replied.
"If that's so true then why hasn't he just paid he way for her return already?" Marmalade asked.
Wolf then thinks about that why hasn't Thomas already paid, he's a trillionaire! He could just pay them to give princess back so why hasn't he.
"Don't you think she deserves you, maybe you should be her father?" Marmalade asked.
"Look I can't keep her forever, she has a family." Wolf said.
"Then why isn't she with them and why does she love you more, I saw that look in your eye, it was love unconditional love from a child and I know that deep down inside, you love that child more then anything else in the world including more then money but the question is are you willing to give it all up just for a child?" Professor Marmalade asked before he left with Wolf thinking about it while Snake starts to get suspicious.
They got to their bedroom a little while later,Snake called down to Wolf's bunk after all the other guys were asleep.
"Hey, you still awake?" he asked Wolf.
The cat Wolf had saved from the tree meowed in response, now settled into Wolf's lap.
"You...you brought the cat in?" Snake asked.
"Yeah." Wolf laughed uncomfortably. He didn't want to let the kitty go, But he didn't want his friends thinking he'd gone soft.
"Yeah I'm just-I'm just... saving it up for later. Why, what's up?" Wolf asked.
"I was just getting a little worried," Snake said. "Since you've kind of become a ..."
"Become a what?" Wolf asked, as the cat nuzzled its head against Wolf's.
"You know, a teacher's pet," Snake told him.
"Getting all cozy with Marmalade, your tail wagging, and everything."
The cat purred, and Wolf pushed it away.
"Well. yeah, Because it has to be believable." He answered.
Snake breathed a sigh of relief. He'd heard what Marmalade had said to Wolf earlier in the night, and he was worried the professor's words had gotten to his friend or that Wolf would go soft because of Princess.
"Uh-huh," Snake muttered. "Yeah, I guess so. As long as it's all part of the plan." Snake slid down from his upper bunk to confront Wolf.
"It is all part of the plan.. isn't it?" He asked.
"Snake. Buddy," Wolf said, trying to reassure his friend. "Who made the plan to begin with?"
"You did." Snake said.
"So I'm the one who sticks to the plan the most, right?" Wolf said.
"Yeah, right," Snake agreed, reluctantly: "I guess that makes sense. But if the plan were ever to change, you'd tell me. Right?"
"Snake, you have my word," Wolf promised. Snake looked somewhat relieved. Wolf stuck his fist out for Snake to bump with his head. Wolf grinned.
"Go bad." he began.
"Or go home," Snake finished. Then he slithered back up to his bunk, hoping this would be the end of it.
But a moment later, Wolf called out into the darkness. "Hey, Snake?"
"Yeah" You ever wonder what it'd be like? The world loving us instead of being scared of us? You ever think of that?"
"Loving us?" Snake scoffed. "Yeah, right. I don't waste time thinking about stuff that's never gonna happen." He sighed. "I can't wait for things to get back to normal."
Wolf looks back at the carriage that Princess was sleeping in.
"Yeah." Wolf said. "Back to normal. Back to normal."
But as they went to sleep, two other bad guys, Piranha and Shark were awake and heard everything.
