Bio

THE MONKEY CATCHER

Spike is an energetic 4th grader who was one day accidentally sucked into a time machine by an evil hyper-intelligent ape named Specter. Once he learned of the apes' plot to take over the world, he made it his mission to catch them all. With help from the Professor, Spike was able to thwart the apes multiple times. While he mainly uses a net to catch the pesky primeapes, Spike is armed with several handy gadgets should he ever find himself in trouble. For a 4th grader, Spike has saved the world a lot and that isn't a fluke.

Intro

"That should be the last of 'em, Professor." Spike and the Professor observed the monkey that they had just contained. "Spike, you've done a terrific job yet again!" The Professor heaped praise on the young boy who seemed to treat saving the world like an ordinary hobby. "Thanks. They appear to be getting smarter and smarter." He noted. That was when the Professor's AI assistant, Charu came online to deliver a message. "Alert, alert! We've detected a series of events unlike any in our database. By all indications, this could be an alien invasion." It was certainly a strange announcement, but it wasn't like Charu was pulling their legs. "Aliens? Invading?" The Professor was trying to make sense of it all. "There seems to be some force at work causing this." Charu continued. "Without further data, it may be safe to assume Specter is behind this." Spike was alarmed. "Specter?!" The Professor rushed to get Spike's gear. "There's no time to wait for more information, Spike. If this is Specter's doing the entire planet could be threatened! You know what to do." Spike nodded. "I'm ready, Professor." The Professor handed him his regular equipment. "I'm afraid these monkey-catching weapons are all I have to give you." Spike took the weapons without complaining and headed for the door. "That's okay Professor, they're all I need."

Rival Scene

There was another one of them. Spike closed in on the monkey, almost about to catch him before he could even notice, before he saw a pig run past him. That was odd. But regardless, he kept going towards the monkey, until someone crashed into him. The monkey ran off, with Spike's chances of catching it ruined. "Watch where you're going!" Spike rubbed his head. "I was so close to catching that monkey, what were you thinking?!" The pink haired Tarzan lookalike was too busy rubbing his head. He picked himself up and looked around frantically before wildly flapping his arms while speaking unintelligible gibberish at Spike. He of course had no idea what Tomba was trying to get across, but his lack of care over the monkey problem as well as his extremely strange behaviour told Spike one thing. "So you must be working for Specter!" He held up his net. "Well, this should hold you as well as it holds those monkeys!" The caveman at least understood threats. As Spike prepared to swipe at him, Tomba got on all fours and began growling at him like a feral dog.

Outro

Spike returned to the lab with a smile on his face. "Spike! You're back! I'd begun to worry we'd never see you again." The Professor greeted him. "It's good to be back, Professor. You won't believe the things I saw." He began. "I'm sure I won't, Spike. We've got some big news here-" But Spike simply couldn't wait. "I do too, I fought everyone up to the big guy controlling them all. But it wasn't-" He was interrupted by the Professor. "Specter. I know. Charu and I still aren't sure where you were, but we've since detected a true alien invasion. Warships are headed towards all the major capitals of the world." He explained. "So Specter really is back!" Spike began to glow blue. "Well, I'm more prepared for him and his aliens, monkeys... or whatever else he's got than I've ever been before. Where to first, Professor?"

Author's Note

Rivalry Connection: Both Tomba and Spike originated on the PS1, both are young boys with spiky hair and both endeavour to catch evil animals. In Tomba's case it's pigs while Spike wants to capture monkeys.

I never played Ape Escape but used to watch some people play it from time to time. Always looked fun and I keep forgetting there's an Ape Escape anime not that it would probably be worth that much trouble. Unfortunately there hasn't been an Ape Escape game in nearly 20 years (I don't count the PS move game because well, it's a ps move game.)
