Church Document S0M2015
A series of reports written by Agent Edgar on the movements of the School of Mensis. Abridged and edited by Cleric Norbert. Due to sensitive nature of information and precarious position of operative, recommend placing document under Perigee Level Restriction within Upper Ward.
Report #1:
"It seems that infiltration was a success. Blade and Rosmarinus stashed underneath floorboards of lodging. Pained to leave my badge behind.
Yahar'gul is abuzz, what has caused such excitement remains unapparent. Many wagons in the streets, cargo within remains unclear.
I will move to ingratiate myself with Mensis scholars, if I can gain the trust of a loose-lipped member I may be privy to the comings and goings of the School with little risk.
Will write again in 3 days as arranged,
Good Blood guide you,
E"
Report #2:
"Have begun attending lectures. Subject matter has been of Kos and Rom exclusively. For better or worse Mensis has not shared in our epiphany, they do not yet see the Sky and Cosmos as one.
Struck up conversation with two senior fellows today, one by the name of Dominick and the other's name was Lapp. Queer figures both, but overall agreeable. I will pursue a friendship with the pair in hopes of parsing some knowledge of the suspicious activity going on.
Soon I will have a solid footing here.
Expect my next letter in 3 days' time,
E"
Report #3:
"Intriguing theories are being shared here. I was present at a conversation between Dominick and Lapp on the nature of Amygdala. Akin to Church doctrine, Dominick believed Amygdala to be envoys of the Great Ones. More intriguingly, he compared them to lymphocytes. Unsure of this.
On the other hand Lapp posited Amygdala a singular Great One, possessed of one mind and many bodies. One mind in many, many minds in one. Coined it the "Godhead". Even for a man of Mensis Lapp is uniquely arrogant.
Noises at night intensely disquieting. Snatchers stalk the streets as well as Black Iron's.
No beasts reside here, just what is their quarry?
Enough dithering on my part, I will investigate the cargo within wagons next night. It is my hope that it will shed some light on the workings of this place.
E"
Report #4
"Corpses. Yharnamites all. Each wagon I pried open bore the same grim load. Many are civilian, many are Hunters. Fellow Church brethren.
Some infants.
Beast-possessed heathens, Yahar'gul is a charnel house masquerading as a place of insight. Their ilk does not befit the cosmos.
The purpose of the gathering of bodies remains unclear to me. My window of investigation was limited by Black Iron patrols. I shall redouble my efforts.
If I should cease contact, it is my recommendation that the Holy Blades raze this place to the ground.
Until such an eventuality, I will maintain contact.
E"
Report #5
"Apologies for long silence. I have found it difficult to gather noteworthy information. Most Scholars of import either taciturn or nonsensical.
Dominick has revealed himself to be a recreational user of sedatives. A stroke of luck, for my purposes. After some circling and cajoling I offhandedly asked about the wagons, banking on his lack of lucidity. I will quote his response exactly.
"Flesh and blood, both sacrifice and medium for the godly infant. Perhaps you hear? Master Micolash hears his wailing often."
With this he sank further into stupor and ceased to speak on anything of substance.
Sacrifice and medium? Suggests ritual. For what end I am woefully ignorant. Does Mensis possess a hitherto unknown Cord?
Head has been swimming as of late. Must administer Blood soon, don't trust the Blood in Mensis.
I implore to keep me in your prayer,
E"
Report #6
"Disturbing news. While observing the student body in the Advent Plaza I spied Micolash himself, walking with Lapp by his side and conversing in hushed tones. Bizarre cages adorned their heads.
Sensing something malignant afoot, I approached the pair hoping to garner the nature of their planned ritual. The pair were friendly at first and greeted me amicably. After a suitable period of small talk I asked the reason for the cages that now surrounded their heads.
A change came over Micolash. His eyes, now manic, peered at me through the bars. The intensity of his expression was apparent, the underlying emotion not so.
He said "Honed like a knife, could our minds lance the skies and meet the underlying dream?"
He and Lapp moved on, leaving me alone to ponder as to the meaning of his words. "Lance the Skies?" could Micolash have made the Oedon epiphany? If so, does this cage function as a surrogate of Make Contact?
They seek to dream not by grace, but by force. Man-made divinity. Blasphemy. Folly.
The full moon is close. Air seems thin now. Must return to Yharnam soon, my compatriots need my assistance on the hunt?
E"
Final Report:
"Requesting immediate punitive action upon the Unseen Village by Church.
In two days the ritual, reborn
Stillborn Mergo reborn
Their disregard, they must wait to be answered but they insist upon it
Need blood no strength
Cease this madness lest we be castaway into a harrowing nightmare"
After this report Agent Edgar halted all communication. It need be noted that the Paleblood Moon indeed rose two days after the reception of this final letter. It is inconclusive whether such a phenomena is related to the Mensis ritual described in these reports, but it is clear that Mensis should be placed under further inquisition due to the information contained in these reports if not subjected to excommunication. The status of Agent Edgar remains unknown, but his final report implies succumbing to frenzy. Yahar'gul has since been sealed and the majority of Church Hunters remain occupied with the long nights hunt.
Laudate Sanguinem Bonum,
