Akane dragged Ranma out of their classroom as the bell rang and took him to a different classroom that was empty. "Akane, what the heck? Why did you drag me here? Class is starting." Ranma questioned.

Akane blocks his way out of the classroom. "I need to know, how did Scarlett save your life?"

Ranma sighed. "Look, Akane. I don't like talking about this at all. Can we drop it?" He looked away, refusing to look at her.

"No, I can't especially when you get a murderous look when you protect Scarlett like that." She replied, standing her ground. "I just…" She started. "I just…don't like how scary you look. I get you want to protect Scarlett… but that look you get makes me scared like you're gonna do something you'll regret and not come back from it."

"Okay…fine… I lied, she didn't save my life…I actually saved hers." Ranma began before walking over a desk and leaning against it. "This was a few years after her parents died. She got kidnapped. Me and pops panicked, we couldn't find her at all that day." He clutched the desk harshly as he remembered the day.

"Scarlett was walking home from school… when the bastard snuck up on her and kidnapped her… once I got the call about that. I went looking for her immediately… but we couldn't find her at all… it took a whole month… until we could even find her… she was tied up in an abandoned warehouse. When I looked at her…." Ranma grips the table more before the piece he was gripping onto broke off as he growls.

"She was beaten to the inch of her life…almost her look of hope was gone…. When I took one look at the bastard I immediately attacked him for even doing that to Scarlett… She is my cousin but we grew up together so she always been like a little sister to me… I couldn't believe someone would be cruel to her. The old man and the cops tried to stop me but they couldn't. Don't get me wrong, the old man wanted to do exactly what I did too but I beat him to it. Scarlett's words the only who stopped me before I killed him in vengeance." He slowly looks at Akane, with a broken look. "I vowed I would protect her from anything. I vowed to always be there for her and support her because I couldn't let her down again… she almost lost hope. I never wanna see the look of defeat on her face again."

Akane stood there shocked with tears in her eyes at the story and how broken Ranma looks. "Ranma…" She said softly as she walked up to him and embraced him in her arms. "I am so sorry I forced you to tell me…I don't blame you for being overprotective."

He hugs her back and rests his head on her shoulder. "Akane… don't tell her I told you… don't even tell everyone else… not even Ryoga." He pulls away from her to look her in the eyes. "The main reason we brought her here was because me and pops heard a report of crime happening in her boarding school and we couldn't let her stay there anymore to make sure she is safe."

Akane nods her head. "Okay. I won't tell anyone." She gives him a smaller smile of reassurance.

"Thank you, Akane." He looked deep into her eyes before saying. "You feel like you've gotten fatter, Akane." He tried to lighten up the mood of the room but he got sent to the cross the room with a desk on his face before he heard the door slam the door shut as he heard.

"STUPID JERK RANMA!"

Scarlett sighs and pouts as she stands outside of the classroom holding a bucket of water. It's not fair… I left my bag and I am late on my second day of school… I hope my classmates don't think I'm a troublemaker… She thought to herself as she waited until her punishment was over.

A girl running in the hall bumps into Scarlett making the bucket of water splash and fall all over both of them. "Oh gosh! I'm so sorry!" The girl exclaimed. Scarlett groans in pain as she sits up and looks up at who crashed into her. She noticed it was a girl with wavy long baby blue hair and lavender eyes, she seems to be just slightly taller than her. "Wait… Scarlett? Is that you?"

Scarlett tilted her head and looked at the girl. "Yes, but who are you?" She asked.

The girl pouts and puts Scarlett in a playful headlock. "How could you forget your best friend?"

Scarlett's eyes widened. "Hikaru! I haven't seen you since I was six year old!" She got out of the headlock and tackled her in a hug.

Hikaru grins and hugs back. "Yeah it's been, I can't believe you are here!" Both girls get up from the ground and grinning at each other.

"So, this is where you moved to?" Scarlett asked as she picked up the bucket.

"Yeah, my dad got a job here and he wanted to be closer to my grandparents, since they were sick at the time. But what are you doing here?"

Scarlett gave her a small smile with her eyes looking like they were frowning. "Well, my uncle and cousin told me I needed to move here."

Hikaru noticed her expression but didn't want to push her buttons anymore. "Well, I am glad you are here. I must take you out for snacks after school." She holds her first up to fist pump Scarlett.

Scarlett extended her fist up to meet Hikaru's fist but before she could reply to her teacher open the classroom door and give them both a disappointed look. "Miss Hiro and Miss Saotome, clean up this mess and Miss Hiro, if you're gonna be late as well as the new student then you can have detention today with her." Their teacher told them with a stern voice.

Both girls stood up straight and nodded. "Yes, Sensei…" They both muttered. Hikaru grabbed Scarlett's hand leading her to the janitor room, to clean up the water off from the floor.

"Sorry, I got you in more trouble, Scarlett." Hikaru told her as she passed Scarlett a mop and grabbed one for herself.

Scarlett let out a small chuckle. "Don't worry about it, but it's like old times."

As the lunch bell rang, the two best friends started to walk out of the classroom with their lunch. "Scarlett, if you need any help with anything just let me know okay."

Scarlett grins, about to reply to her long lost best friend when something tackles her down to the ground. "AH!"

"Arf!" Scarlett's attacker started to lick her face.

"Checkers! No!" A voice she is starting to be familiar with said as they pulled her attacker off of her. "I'm so sorry, Bunny-chan!" They apologized. "Checkers here was excited as soon as she saw you again."

Scarlett's cheeks turned a rosey pink at the nickname once again he called her. "It's alright…" She looks away from him to hide her face. "You don't have to call me Bunny-chan, Ryoga-senpai."

Ryoga scratched the back of his neck shyly as he held out a hand to help Scarlett up from the ground. "I-I'm sorry, it slipped out… Scarlett"

"It's okay." Scarlett gives him a small smile as she reaches out and takes his hand. As their fingers touched they both felt electricity. Scarlett's face began to heat up again but this time with a darker tint across her face.

Ryoga is taken back and quickly takes hold of her hand firmly before lifting her back to her feet. He immediately let go of her hand and turned his back to hide his own blush. "Umm….I…uh…I brought back y-your bag… you forgot it." He stuttered as he pointed at Checkers who was holding it.

"Arf!" Checkers barked and wagged her tail happily as she sat in front of Scarlett with the bag in her mouth.

"Thanks…" Scarlett mutters quietly as she pat Checkers' head and takes her bag.

"Ahem!" Hikaru cleared her throat to get their attention. "So, Scarlett, is this guy your boyfriend?" She asked curiously.

Scarlett turns to look at her friend to reply. "I-I'm definitely not her boyfriend….My heart belongs to s-someone else." Ryoga quickly rejected the idea of being Scarlett's boyfriend.

Scarlett grabbed Hikaru's arm to pull her away. "S-stop being nosy, Hikaru!" She lectured her friend. "T-thanks Ryoga but we gotta go now." She rushes off before he can reply.

"Ok…" Ryoga blinks, wondering if he said something wrong as he watches them leave.

"Soo…." Hikaru started as she and Scarlett entered the music room. "Can I be nosy now?"

Scarlett looks at Hikaru and sighs. "You have only three questions and that's all."

A big grin spread across Hikaru's face. "Okie, dokie. My first question is, who is that guy, second question is, what was all that about back there. My last and important question, are you okay?"

Scarlett gets taken back by her last question. "One, that was Ryoga Hibiki, my cousin's Ranma's rival" She said as she sat down and pulled out her lunch. "I'm not sure if I'm okay."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Hikaru asked carefully.

"I…I don't know…" Scarlett said, looking down as she sounded defeated. "It's just…the look Ryoga-senpai gave me brought back some horrible memories…" She admitted.

Hikaru placed a hand on Scarlett's shoulder and gave her a smile. "Hey, don't force yourself. You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to, but I will try to always be there for you whenever you need me like old times." Hikaru reassured her. "Like the time those bullies in our class in grade school tried to attack you for your hair being red. I kicked them all in the head. I got in trouble but it was worth it, no one hurt my best friend." She grinned.

Scarlett's eyes soften and chuckle. "Yeah, I remembered that. They never bothered me again after that. Every time they saw you they ran so fast."

"Those were the good times." She agreed and took out her own lunch. "Let's hurry and eat up before lunch is over."
