On the third day of el Festival de Madrigal, Mirabel leaves the house with a skip in her step. Luckily, Julieta's arepas have soothed Bruno's fever for the most part, but they are hesitant on letting him go back out just yet. Mirabel, though, is just happy that he's recovering from yesterday so quickly. Today, she decides she's going to hang out with Luisa and Dolores. She hopes to get her mind off of her tío's slowly worsening condition. As she walks into the plaza, she notices Luisa setting down a cart and dusting off her hands.

"Luisa!" Mirabel calls, running over to her. She turns to her little sister, crossing her toned, muscular arms.

"Hey sis! Just got done with chores. You ready to have some fun?" She asks, grinning brightly.

"Of course! Is Dolores coming too?"

As soon as she asks, Dolores pops up from behind the cart, waving. "I'm here, primita!"

As the three Madrigal children stand up on top of one of the smaller mountains around the Encanto, Mirabel looks out on the town below, a little wary of how high up they were. Luisa, however, was looking in excitement down the flatter end of the mountain.

"Our sister Isa brought me up here one day. Says she likes to surf down the mountain on her trail of wild plants." She laughs heartily, setting down a large slab of wood big enough for just the three of them. "Hop on, ladies. We're going for a trip down this mountain!" Dolores and Mirabel both look fearful as they sit down cautiously on the front half of the wood slab. Luisa hops on the back, bringing her arms up to the front to hold onto the edge of the wood, essentially acting as a seatbelt for the two smaller girls. "On three! One…."

Mirabel and Dolores continue, their voices shaking in apprehension. "Two…."

"THREE!" Luisa bellows, rocking the wood slab just enough so that it teeters and starts sliding down the hill at incredible speeds. She laughs in loud, ecstatic bursts as the other two scream in terror. Eventually though, they get used to it and smile at each other, starting to laugh along with Luisa. The occasional scream would come from one of them when they hit an exceptionally large bump on the way down, but for the most part it's all smiles and fun. Soon enough, they reach the bottom of the mountain, sliding into town at ridiculous speeds. The wind in their wake knocks over some villagers and tugs around ruanas violently.

Eventually, they slow down thanks to the tiled ground and finally come to a complete stop. Their adrenaline-filled laughter slowly subsides as they all look at each other with fire alight in their eyes.

"That… WAS AWESOME!" Mirabel exclaims, her curly hair a tangled mess from the wind whipping it about. Dolores claps loudly and excitedly.

"Yeah Luisa. That was super fun!" Luisa grins at them, standing up and helping her family get their balance, their legs wobbling from the slide down the mountain.

The three girls head further into town, playing small games at little stands for a small fee. Dolores squeaks as she sees Mariano walking by in the distance, her face going a bright red as she watches him walk. Mirabel nudges her lightly, a smile on her face.

"Well what are you waiting for? Go get 'em!" Dolores's smile brightens as she hugs her little cousin tightly, running off to catch up with him. Mirabel watches as she locks her arm with Mariano's before turning back to her sister Luisa. "Ah, how wonderful their relationship is. I'm so glad she's taking the time to go out and have fun with him during the festival." Luisa laughs, agreeing wholeheartedly.

"Yeah, that girl's head over heels. The festival is a very romantic time for a lot of young couples from what I've seen." She gestures around at the various couples of teens and young adults alike.

"Ha, yeah." Mirabel smiles, adjusting her glasses and looking up at the sky. "Twilight's on its way. I'm gonna head home. There's something I need to do before the day ends."

As Mirabel waves her goodbyes to Luisa, she skips along back to the house, stopping out front as the windows on the top floor squeak open and closed. She waves with a big smile. "¡Hola, Casita!" She calls out as the front door opens on its own. She steps inside, taking in a deep breath, before walking up the stairs and stopping in front of her mother's door. She stares for a moment at the door, her hands shaking. She takes another deep breath to calm her nerves before knocking. After a few moments, Julieta opens the door quietly, her gaze softening as her eyes land on Mirabel.

"Ah, you're back…" She smiles softly, worry lighting her gaze.

"How is he?" Mirabel asks quietly, fidgeting with her hands.

"I worry for him, but he's feeling better than he was this morning." Julieta takes her daughter's hands leading her inside. "He's been staying in my room so that I can directly take care of him." She explains, leading Mirabel over to her bed, her brother lying under the covers.

She crouches down next to the bed, laying her head down on the mattress. Bruno's tired eyes lock onto her, his eyes empty of emotion.

"Hey… how are you feeling?" She asks softly, her eyes full of concern. His gaze goes to his hands for a moment before he sits up, laying his back against the pillows.

"The fever's gone for now. Can't say it won't come back though." He sighs, brushing silvery black curls from his face. "Julieta doesn't know what's wrong with me. Nobody does. I just hope it doesn't get any worse." Mirabel reaches up and rests her hand on his, a cautious smile on her face.

"You'll be fine. It's just some flu or something, I'm sure you'll get over it." She reassures him, giving his tired old hand a gentle squeeze. He smiles back at her as Julieta combs her fingers gently through his hair, pulling stray strands out of his face with pins.

"You're right, I've got nothing to worry about. It can't get much worse than this." He laughs softly, his body rejecting the movement as he starts coughing instead. Mirabel's grip on his hand tightens just a little out of fear, then slowly loosens again when he's done.

Bruno wipes his hand thoroughly on his ruana before ruffling her black curls with it. He chuckles despite himself. "Sobrinita, I may be pushing 51, but I'm strong. All of this is gonna blow over, the rest of the festival will be amazing, we'll all be happy." He smiles at her, moving his hand down to gently pat at her back. "We just gotta have faith." She nods her head enthusiastically, her dark eyes bright.

"I will, tío. I promise." She hugs him tightly, earning another laugh from him.

"Go get some sleep, you little rascal. You're gonna need it so you can enjoy day… what is it, four? Yeah, day four of Festival de Madrigal." He gently ushers her off, waving as she heads toward the door. Julieta says her goodbyes as well, a hopeful gleam in her gaze. As she leaves, she heads off to her room and gets dressed into pajamas.

She lays in bed, staring out the open window at the full moon as the wind whistles softly. A small furry body crawls along next to her, squeaking softly. She tears her gaze away from the window and down to the little rat by her arm. She smiles, gently running a finger down its back.

"Hi, little guy. Did Bruno send you?" She asks, giggling a little. The rat squeaks once before walking over to her head and climbing its way into her messy black curls. "Oh-? okay okay, I guess you can stay in there for now." She whispers, laying back down as the rat settles down. "Goodnight, little guy." She mutters before drifting off to sleep, dreams of the inside of the house walls coming to greet her.
