Sorry about the time between uploads of things, when my muse is willing to work, it wants to work on completely different things than what i should be working on. Also, important message after the story.
I do not own Undertale.
"Come on," the more energetic human said, "we have to get going."
Where exactly are we going?" Chara asks as they pull themself out of Frisks hands.
"Don't worry Chara," Frisk replies in lieu of an actual answer, "this'll be fun!"
For some reason Chara had doubts about this statement.
They would later acknowledge that the puzzles were fun, but at the time, the memories they brought back hurt too much to acknowledge that fact. Every puzzle that the tall skeleton had crafted reminded them harshly of their own bother. These were the same kinds of things that Asriel enjoyed making.
It was clearly noticed that they hadn't been in their right mind. When the two humans got into Snowdin, Frisk got the two of them a room and sat Chara down.
"Okay," they started off, "What's wrong?"
That single question finally pushed Chara over the edge. Tears began to leak from their eyes as their head dropped into their hands. "It's just..." they lost their sentence as they tried to articulate everything, "All those puzzles, and how the two skeletons act reminded me of myself and Azzy, and that finally made it hit me. My home is gone, and I can never get it back."
The only response Chara got, as they began to finally acknowledge what had been lurking in their mind for a while, was a hand, resting on their back as they cried. Frisk seeming to have no response.
In truth, Frisk wanted to say something, but for once they had no response. No jokes, no comments, nothing. For the first time, they had no idea what to say to someone. So, rather than speak, they rested their hand on their friend's back. Showing their presence as their universally displaced friend finally mourned for their lost friends and family.
It wouldn't be until late into the night that Chara would finally fall asleep, emotionally exhausted, and unable to keep their eyes open.
The red-eyed human woke up the next day to an empty room, with no one else in sight.
Having quickly realized that they wouldn't be getting back to sleep, they left the room and headed into the town. As they wandered, their eyes drifted across the people around them, noting how similar everything is to what they knew. After a half hour of walking around, someone found them.
"what ya looking for buddy?"
Chara almost jumps out of their skin as the short skeleton speaks up from behind. After catching their breath from the scare, they respond. "Just wandering really, trying to spot any differences."
"fair enough, i can't imagine the difficulty you're having, but you seem to be adjusting all right."
"As friendly as you are sans," Chara grins, "I'm not going to spill my life story to you."
The skeleton chuckles at the response, as a thought pops into Chara's head, "Now that you're here though, do you know where Frisk is?"
"yeah, their entertaining my brother, they should be outside in a little bit. if you want to wait, my house is at the edge of town."
The human nods before heading off. "Thanks sans."
Chara didn't have to wait for long outside the building for Frisk to come out.
The other human had a wide smile on their face as they noticed Chara. They also had no issues with trying to spread that happiness. "Hi, Chara!"
Despite their best attempts, they couldn't suppress the grin on their face at Frisks energy. "Hey, Frisk, had a good day?"
"Yeah!" the smile on the other human dims slightly, "A better question though, is how are you feeling after last night?"
The green-clad human lets out a breath. "Better, I didn't realize how much I was ignoring until it was pushed in my face." They look at Frisk with a smile, "I also have to thank you for trying to help, it may not have worked, but you at least tried."
Frisk smiled, "I just wanted to help my friend."
The surprise to Chara, wasn't the fact that Frisk said that, it was the fact that their voice only held absolute sincerity. To them, something like that was truly just something that a friend should do, no questions asked.
Frisk, seeing the surprise on Chara's face, decided to distract the other human. "How about a tour around Snowdin? You probably looked around but I can explain stuff for you!"
The next few hours consisted of Frisk taking Chara around the city and explaining places and introducing them to people. By the end of the day, as they turned in for a good night of sleep before heading off the next day, Chara couldn't help but wonder if Frisk was a huge anomaly among humans. After all, when they were above ground, the humans they had met were nowhere close to being as nice as Frisk had been to them.
These thoughts continued to swirl as they drifted off to sleep.
Shorter Chapter, I was originally going to cover the Papyrus puzzles, but then emotional Chara strolled in and took over the first scene. Afterwards, plot progression did not appear in the cards, so I went with character interactions instead.
Anyways, onto the Important thing i mentioned before. In order to make things a little cleaner for myself, the only stories that I will be actively updating, will be Generation STRQ, RWBY Drive, and Charaswap. I won't be updating anything else until A) one of those stories finishes, or B) I completely finish one of the other ideas my muse has been making me work on.
I'll ention that in my other stories as well when I update them.
Anyways, hope you liked the chapter, tell me if I missed something.
Read and Review.
