Chapter one

Warnings for murder and other dark themes!

"Winter'Paw! P-Please don't kill me!"! I heard the tom scream beneath my paws, blood dripping from my face as I dug my claws deeper into the cat's chest, then feeling the crimson-colored blood pulse through my claws as if they were like the veins in my body.

I slid my claw up to push it against the warrior's face, pushing down of course, and extending my claws deeper into his flesh, in the process scarring his face badly, but the screams didn't stop. I wonder how this tom even became deputy. I turned from the screaming cat to look deep into the distance. Everything around us was dark and covered in shadows, my clan too concentrated on fighting the other nearby.

I twitched my whiskers and looked to the dying tomcat and pulled my claw from his face, contemplating killing him or letting him go. Now that I was doing this I wouldn't be able to back down.. And he didn't deserve to live. "May Star'Clan light your path." He said with a shaky voice as he understood what I had in store for him.. before I brought my claw down to slash open his throat I spoke.

"Star'Clan isn't on my path," I replied, and he was dead, blood pooling around him as it gushed from the wound I created.

I twitched my tail and leaped off the tom, shaking my pelt. I sniffed the air to look for my clan, but I couldn't smell anyone. I turned around to see a small squirrel observing from the pathway. "Might as well catch it.." I sighed to the corpse beside me. "He would've wanted me to." I cooed, smirking. "Poor thing," I murmured, I then stood up, blood dripping from my pelt as I approached the squirrel, dropping into a crouch. Though I was only nine moons or so I was still a pretty bad hunter. I flexed my claws into the ground and then I pounced, quickly biting into the squirrel's spine after missing its neck.

I frowned, biting into the squirrel's back repeatedly until it was dead. "Finally.." I murmured through the soft fur of the squirrel.

I'll go back to camp, and then I can tell everyone that Spume'Pelt had attacked me first. And that maybe one of the rival's clans warriors had cornered him in the clearing.

I thought to myself.

I began to make my way back to the camp, my fur still drenched in the blood of the deputy. Nobody could ever hurt my mother ever again. But I guess since she was dead nobody could anyways.

Oh yes,

I never did give any of you the reason as to why I killed Spume'Pelt. You'll have to find out for yourself.

I reached camp, nobody was there but one of the medicine cats, my mother's friend, Pale'Face. He was the cat to bring us into the clan when I was only a kit and had suggested the name Gore'Kit. For a while, I did go by Gore'Kit, until I was four moons, and then Spume'Pelt changed it to Winter'Kit because it was 'too violent' or something. I don't even know what the Winter word means!

I heard Pale'Face shriek.

"Winter'Paw! What happened to you!" The cat rose to his paws.

I dropped the squirrel in a pile in the shape of a rock dotted circle, being where my clan mates got food.

"Hillock'Clan decided to pick a fight with us today." I meowed, limping to the medicine den and crawling through the small gap that led inside.

Pale'Face turned and followed after me. "Let me see you! I can't tell if that's some other cat's blood or yours!" The cat curled their tail with nervousness.

"Okay." I sighed and laid in the soft fern moss nest, rocks circled the nest.

The cat then started grooming my pelt, cleaning the blood off. "You're only an apprentice and you're drenched in the blood of other cats." He huffed. "You don't have a scratch on you!" Pale'Face added.

I looked up at him for a moment and twitched my tail. "I guess I'm just good at fighting." I smiled.

"Of course.." he sighed. "You stay here, I'm going out to search for the clan, just in case anyone else needs my help.."

"Who's going to defend the camp?" I questioned.

"I couldn't defend a kit if I tried, I'm only a medicine cat. You defend the camp." He meowed before leaping up the tall rocks surrounding the camp and sliding down the slope below.

"Didn't even give me a moment to respond.." I murmured to myself and began to lick the blood from my pelt, mostly the blood of Spume'Pelt, other than his there was the blood of an apprentice I attacked before escaping into the clearing where I attacked Spume'Pelt when he limped away from battle like a coward. But I guess I was a coward too for not killing him in front of everyone.. which I had thought of doing before, I just found it useless, now that I think about it, it might've been a good idea..

I rested my head in the prickly moss nest underneath me and decided to take a quick nap.
