Little Yasuhiko wasn't that difficult to take care, in fact, when he was born both his mom and momma were ready for him. He had everything he needed, surely Korra and Asami made sure of that.

In fact Yasuhiko always stayed calm whenever Korra needs to leave for her Avatar duties and made Asami less stressed. More so ever, Asami could at least work from home easily while mothering their son. For Korra, she grumbles whenever Wu would need her assistance in Earth Kingdom….again. Seriously, he needs to get things straight before Korra strangles him for sweeping away her precious moments with her family.

Korra would worry and miss the days to see their Yasuhiko grow. Though he's almost a year old now and they definitely have a lot of years more to spend a lot of their time together, Asami assured her.

For Asami's part, she had no problems taking care of Yasuhiko while she still runs Future Industries. As a first time mother, she needed to cancel off a lot of business meetings and let her secretary tell them that she is on maternity leave. She decided that she wanted to be the hands-on mom as she knew Korra would be busy taking care of the world, as she is the Avatar, she will be needed anytime and anywhere. Well when Korra isn't away, their little family spend most of their free time together, Asami sneaking in a little work and all to check the company.

Little Yasu is definitely lucky, having also Pema and, from time to time, Senna to give Asami advise and pointers as first time mother. If ever the city or Future Industries would need Asami, Pema or Senna would voluntarily help take care of little Yasu. There was a time, while Korra was away, that she ended up picking up Yasi from Air Temple island so late in he evening and nearly forgot about him because of the demanding nature of business. She felt guilty for it. There were times that Asami shed a tear and feared that she might not be the perfect mother for little Yasu. The two elders comforted her easily, like giving advice from one mother to another, and told her that there are no perfect mothers.

It happens dear and that's where we'll also grow caring for a family. She smiled after hearing them and she did what she did the best, time management. And that's where Asami manages to balance her time with Yasu and Korra then little time with work.

Korra on the other hand also tried to learn to be a first time mom, but her Avatar duties just seems to keep her away. She was proud of Asami though and she fell in love with her even more. She couldn't imagine marrying anyone else other than Asami. As many as Asami can do for her and little Yasu, Korra made sure that she'd help around the house and with Yasu. She would cook for her, give her massages and made sure she would get up first whenever Yasu wakes up crying in the middle of the night. They both knew Yasu relaxes quickly when Korra cradles him and it was a sight that made Asami's heart tighten with admiration with her wife.

Yes little Yasuhiko is lucky to have both Asami and Korra as his mom and momma, and come to think of it, Yasu seems to respond by also behaving and being calm to his mom and momma. Senna joked 'Really calm and behave, not like her momma Korra'.

But not today, Asami seemed so.

It has been the third day that little Yasu had been cranky and crying. Asami had lost sleep again by the minute she laid Yasu in their bed last night. Thinking that maybe Yasu had been irritated with the weather, she changed his nappy and fed him milk still nothing made him calm. Wishing that Korra could be home soon knowing that Yasu would relax under her mom's arms.

The Earth Kingdom is ok as of now but it seems that Fire Lord Izumi requested her presence in the Fire Nation. It had only been a week but Korra's scheduled return to Republic City had been delayed because of Northern Water Tribe assistance of trading goods with other nations. Korra had sent Jinora a message for Asami that she should be home in two days time and will travel back via the spirit portal.

And that was yesterday and still little Yasu kept his crankiness.

"Maybe a little trip to Air Temple Island would help us, love" She told him as she went to Yasu's room and grabbed everything she needs.

The trip to the island was rather loud. Yasuhiko squirmed and cried. Good thing they were riding in one of Asami's private ferry. By the time they arrived, Ikki and Meelo greeted them excitedly which made little Yasu get carried away. Pema rushed them in as Asami apologized to the two about Yasu's odd behavior. Tenzin looked at the baby's stressed tension and tried to make him with his soothing airbending thinking that he might be feeling hot. And he did stop….a bit but still squirmed.

"I'm guessing the little guy is feeling a little hot." Tenzin carried him and to their surprised, Yasu stopped squirming too. Tenzin felt Yasu's body temperature and he was right, the baby might come down with a fever soon. He continued to ease Yasu's distress.

Asami instantly got worried feeling that Yasu might had catch on a flu, but Pema assured that wasn't the case.

"I remember Jinora coming down with a fever when she started to show that first tooth, maybe that's what's bothering him"

"I hope so Pema, I really have no idea what to do. I thought it would be easy. Easy like building cars and machines"

Pema chuckled "You don't have to worry about that dear, it's all part of being a mother. We get clueless in the beginning but our instincts pushes the minute our child needs us. Now why don't we find something for Yasu to take to make his fever go down a bit"

By the time Yasu settled and finally had a decent nap in Asami's arms the sun was already setting. The kids spotted a ferry coming to the island. A tanned woman in Northern Water tribe garb was riding at the fron, too excited for the ferry to dock, she waterbent herself to the safe zone. It was Korra.

Korra's back!

Relieved that her wife had come back, all safe and sound. The moment she had step the stairs to the temple, the kids rushed by her side. Along with Tenzin and Pema, they all welcomed her back from the trip.

"Asami's inside with Yasu. The two are exhausted, Yasu has been crying all day, he calmed down just now"

"Are they alright?" Korra's worried face immediately showed as she rushed inside the temple.

"They're both ok dear, now, why don't you all stay awhile and have dinner before getting home. I'm sure Asami's too tired to cook dinner, and so are you"

And Korra agreed with Pema, she walked inside the dining hall to see Asami settled in a reclining chair with little Yasu in her arms. She went straight to them and gave Asami a longing kiss to the forehead and another kiss to their son's. Asami never missed a day missing her Avatar. Her Korra.

They ate dinner with the Acolytes, Korra held Yasu to let Asami's arm rest and to eat as well, Asami refused at first but Korra insisted. Instead, Asami fed Korra, which is to her licking, made the kids teased her for being a big baby and being fed by Asami. She tried to retort back but everytime she tried to move Yasu would also squirm. Though he still slept, thank the spirits Korra was around to make Yasu sleep longer.

After dinner, Korra still offered to carry Yasu. They said good bye to Tenzin and the kids before they made to the ferry. Asami said her thanks to Pema, but before they got to the ferry Pema reminded Asami one more advice.

"Don't forget to try what Senna said you needed to do, I'm sure Yasu would like that"

When they got back to their apartment, Korra was too tired to put her staff away and instantly changed to her signature tank top and pajama. Asami was now carrying Yasu as she told Korra to go and have a quick shower and change of clothes. Korra apologized to Asami that she took another week long to not come home on time to spend time with them. The Northern Water Tribe were having trouble explaining their tribe the uncommon machines that Future Industries donated to them. Eska and Desna said that Asami Sato is busy tending their offspring, so maybe her spouse the Avatar could help since she's in the Fire Nation. Knowing Korra….she has no idea how to actually use those machines, so she made everything up until it worked out just the way it was supposed to work. Asami just laughed them out, knowing Korra too well, the tanned woman would have been a sight to see driving the Satosnowmobile.

Yasuhiko woke up when they arrived home and thank the spirits again he wasn't crying. Korra's presence really has an effect on him. Asami ordered Korra again to take that shower, she wanted to refuse but she does smell bad. Korra felt the instant guilt of leaving Asami with Yasu still the need to be changed. Her wife said it was ok and she knows she's more tired traveling around the world. She kissed Korra on the cheek and went to tend Yasuhiko. The moment Korra finished her shower, drowsiness invade his eyes and instantly fell asleep. Asami and Yasu followed suit after, taking the usual spot next to Korra she kissed her two loves in the head before falling to a deep sleep,

The early hours of the morning surely was evil, but Yasuhiko had to wake up in the middle of it. Korra was on alert mode when it comes to Yasu waking up crying. Sleep was still in her eyes but tending to Yasu was her priority. Before she could ever stand up Asami grabbed her by the arm, stopping her but the eyes of the raven haired looked more tired than hers. Still she insisted.

"Rest back sweetie, I'll handle this" Asami said

"But Yasu-"

"Will be okay. Don't worry I'll be quick" Asami kissed her wife's forehead and laid her back to her pillow as she stood up from the bed and walked towards Yasu's nursery room.

Yasu cried a lot but not that loud. His fever was sporting back as Asami felt his head. Yasu felt warm at the moment. What could possibly had made Yasu get a fever at this time?

Little did she noticed, as Yasu cried in the arms of her mama, Asami noticed something within Yasu;s gums. Trying to confirm the main deal of the problem. The raven haired mom grabbed Yasu's extra clothes and a towel for themselves before they went to the bathroom to fill the bath tub.

Once the tub was full and the temperature is good enough for both for them. Stripping herself and Yasu naked, they dipped themselves in the tub. Carefully not to slip as she was still carrying their son, she sat slowly while Yasu was squirming. And in an instant, Yasu almost immediately stopped crying. The warmth captured them and both mother and son

It worked. Asami cried internally.

She hummed a song softly, remembering the old lullaby that her own mother used to sing for when she was young. It brought small tears on Asami's eyes wishing that her mother could have seen her caring for son. She had also wished Yasuko would have still been alive to guide her through her mother hood and to see Asami building a family with Korra, Yasuhiko and probably another child or two.

Litlte did Asami knew her wife came in quietly to the bathroom, but she knew Korra wasn't good being stealthy alone. Her eyes caught her by the instant, a lopsided grin greeted their warm aboard.

"Hey there sweetie, you're awake"

"I felt you haven't come back yet, so I had to check on both of you"

"You had a long week sweetie. Go back to sleep, I can take care of him"

"Not a chance. I wouldn't want my wife tire herself up because of our little energy ball"

Asami chuckled. Korra shuffled to move and decided to join inside the bathtub, Asami adjusted herself and Yasu and sat in between Korra's thighs, enveloped by her strong loving arms. She leaned back to rest her whole body against Korra's.

"He looks so peaceful-" Korra whispered in her ears "-look at him, our little Yasu."

"He had a rough day too, I thought he could have missed his mom's presence"

"Pema mentioned him being cranky lately and wouldn't stop till Tenzin tried to carry him. Is he ok?" Korra asked worriedly.

Asami didn't nudge, but instead she felt relieved when she knew that Yasu would relax with these soothing warm bath. Not mention that this was her last resort to make Yasu calm down from his crankiness. And it worked and she felt like the spirits have answered her plea. Also, the warm bath soothed her too, and an added bonus of her wife cradling them both in the tub. Korra deeply cared for them and it made Asami so happy and loved to have Korra as her loving sweet caring wife.

"I had a hunch that our son is teething. I remembered your mom telling me that she used to give you warm baths when you were teething too. She said it helped you relax especially the warm water. So yeah, my hunches were correct, I just saw a tooth coming out form that little gums"

Asami gently pushed Yasu's lower lip just enough to show Korra that sporting white tooth from their Yasu's gums.

"Would you look at that" Korra whispered amazingly.

"I know" She replied almost breathless.

"Our little family is finally growing" Korra tightened her embrace, leaning her chin on Asami's shoulders. Asami respond with a nod, but the overwhelming emotion got the best of her tear to fall.

"You okay babe?"

Asami almost jerked but remembered she was holding their son inn her arms. She smiled, those tears were no sorrow. Those were tears of joy that finally came to her realization. She was no longer lonely. Korra is here, not because she has someone to take care of Yasu with her, but she finally have a family shea had always wanted with Korra.

"Yeah, everything is okay"

And with that Korra held her and Yasu in her arms more lovingly, they both watched their son drifted to sleep in Asami's arm, It was a warm sight to see.

Who would have thought a toddler's teething made clearer that their future is brighter when they're together.
