Summary: Hawks is working overtime on Christmas Eve, and someone unexpected offers assistance.

Hawks shivered so hard that his teeth chattered. The temperature was dropping so fiercely that he swore that his feathers had a coating of frost on them. He already knew that his nose was a bright red.

It was too damned cold for this to complain if only Hawks had someone to complain to someone who wasn't his superior. This was Endeavor's mission after all. If he dared to complain about it, the older man would grouse that he was too soft, and then where would he be? Would he be on the top ten list anymore?

However, Hawks was used to the harsh conditions and punishment which was exactly how his childhood training had been. Though his wings meant personal freedom at him, the authorities just wanted to use them for their own purposes.

From out of nowhere, Hawks sneezed. He found that he was congested.

Screw this. Hawks needed a rest and a heater. Endeavor wasn't here anyway.

However, as he dropped down to earth, he could spot a figure that he recognized though it did surprise him that he was standing out on the roof.

Was he waiting for him?

Dabi stood up high with his hands in his pockets.

Curiously, Hawks slowed his sped so that he could have a chat.

Of course, the villain had already seen him. He hardly missed anything.

"Oh, it's you!" Dabi called. Then, lower. "Partner."

"I'm on a job." Hawks delicately landed on the roof then. Finally.

"But, it's going to snow. Don't heroes have any mercy?"

Apparently, they didn't. Hawks' superior was the current top pro hero. Under him, endurance was a requirement. He believed in pushing your limits. That it made you stronger.

"You look like hell. Maybe you would like to to come inside for a drink?" Dabi suggested.

Hawks raised an eyebrow. "Right now? When I'm flying?"

Flying was was a complicated process that involved lifting his entire body weight and keeping yourself mobile. Hawks had to keep himself light and fit so that his body could soar. He also needed to use his wits, and his mind had to be clear to keep himself in balance.

"Not that kind of drink," Dabi scoffed "I meant something like coffee or hot cocoa."

"Why? You don't have to do that."

Being nice certainly wasn't part of their new relationship. There was no purpose to it.

"Because I like you. Is that a crime?"

Hawks honestly had no response to that. It was just so...unexpected.

It didn't escape his notice that the villain had edged in closer to him. "I was thinking more along the lines of a hot cup of hot cocoa."

That seemed like an appetizing idea. Hawks could never argue against sugar.

"Do you have some marshmallows?" Hawks couldn't resist asking

"Do you like the little ones or the big ones?" Dabi asked

That response alone surprised him. It was a bit shocking that he was given a choice.

In truth, Hawks preferred the big ones but it was so awkward to say that to the villain

"Either."

The villain seemed lost in thought. "You know, I knew that you were going to ask for them because I know you." Dabi was staring at the ground now.

That was...a rather unexpected thing to say.

Then, Hawks felt something ice cold land on his nose. He looked up and saw in the indirect street lights that snowflakes were beginning to fall It actually wasn't a good time for flight although he was well aware that haws were capable of flying into the snow.

"So, tonight is Christmas Eve, isn't it? Feel like having a little celebration tonight?"

Hawks should have thought of that. Dabi seemed to read his mind at times.

Hawks actually laughed a bit. "With you people?"

"Well, villains can be fun too." Dabi sounded defensive.

Yeah, Hawks could see that. When they weren't breaking the law, that is. However, it was without a doubt morally wrong...

The pro-hero was technically on the clock, but it was overtime. Hawks didn't want to extend it for too long. But since, the job itself was done, there was really no reason to anyway.

"Tomura doesn't like us to work us too hard on nights like these," Dabi continued. "Besides it's too crowded now. Too much mayhem with the patrolling authorities."

The holidays were always busy for heroes in the wrong way. It wasn't often that Hawks had the opportunity to spend it with someone quietly. It was either relentless work or a crowded Christmas event, usually a party, and there was always a fan that had snuck in that wanted an autograph. At least with a scarred villain, Hawks had better anonymity.

Hawks swore that the villain shivered. "It's getting too damned cold out here. Let's warm up inside."

Hawks actually felt a pleasant tickle deep in his chest. Was he actually concerned about him?

"With the hot cocoa?" Hawks could already imagine a blast of hot sweetness over his tongue with the gooey marshmallows.

He couldn't help, but wonder if Dabi liked sweet things.

Dabi smiled fiercely. "See? We can think alike."

The two retreated inside with Dabi in the lead. The kitchen was nearby and Dabi immediately set to work preparing the sweet brew. For a moment, he watched the steam rise from the twin ebony cups that were on the counter. Well, it would make sense for villains to have a black coffee cup, he supposed. Hawks decided to sit at the table.

"It's really coming down," Dabi said as he peered out the high window over the sink.

Hawks nodded as he heard at the bits of ice striking the window. The sudden storm was a surprise. But, it was nice. And warm. It was now anyway.

Hawks couldn't help but notice that Dabi looked a bit flushed when he brought the cocoa to the table. His cheeks were pink.

As Hawks watched Dabi sip at his mug, he couldn't help but wonder if his lips would taste sweet. Well of course they would right now. However, if he endeavored to try this he no doubt would get burned to a crisp.

It suddenly dawned on Dabi that he was smiling. Dabi made a face at Hawks.

"What's so funny?" Dabi seemed a bit angry as he set the cup down on the table.

"You," Hawks couldn't help but remark as he reached for the cup of hot cocoa.

Great. Now, all he had done was probably piss off Dabi more thoroughly.

He had to admit that he was thoroughly surprised when Dabi suddenly turned to grasp onto him only to kiss him. All time and space disappeared. For a moment, Hawks could swear that he saw clouds.

The cup loosened in his grip where it immediately dropped and shattered on the floor Just like that, the delicious cocoa had been vanquished. Hawks hadn't even tasted it.

"Oh, no," Hawks moaned for more reasons than one. What had just happened to him? To Dabi?

"I'll make you another one," Dabi assured him

The broken cup and the cocoa wasn't really an issue now as something else his full attention.

All Hawks knew that Dabi's lips at the moment tasted like tasted like a marshmallow that was charred black.

As Dabi hurried to collect another mug while swearing under his breath, all that was on Hawks' mind now if Dabi was going to give seconds.

Of both the cocoa and those chocolate lips.

Hawks supposed that only the New Year had the answers. He knew that he and Dabi would be spending the year together.
