Hey! My name is Brittany S Pierce and no before you start to confuse yourself, I am not the Britney Spears. I have adhd and dyslexia. My best friends are Lord Tubbington and my little sister, Sammy; her name is actually Samantha but my whole family call her Sammy like the turtle. I guess my parents always knew I was a little quirky, but they just chalked it up to me being imaginative and hyper.
The real warning signs started to show when the kids around started mastering the alphabet and sentences whereas I was still stuck on how to spell my name. I always got my b's confused with d's, my p's with q's, etc. My parents figured just shortening my name to Brittany S Pierce instead of Brittany Susan Pierce would help a little.
With all this said I'm not stupid. I actually thrive in maths where I started to exceed my age group. They knew that the problem wasn't my intellect but instead something else. However, as much as I would thrive in lesson like maths and science I would always fail in test despite knowing every question. Something in my brain would scramble up the information that I had to remember and confuse me no matter how confident I was that I knew the material.
Around my second year in middle school my parents decided to seek professional help. It was there that they first mentioned the possibility of me having adhd and/or dyslexia. At first me and my parents both didn't know what to make of this outcome. They didn't know how to react to me being different from my peers and I didn't know what this would mean for my future.
Unto the real beginning of this story...
