Embry's Point of View
It had been two months since she left to go home. I actually found myself missing her more than I thought I would. We promised we'd delete each other's numbers which we did when we said go bye in the morning after our last night together. She didn't want me going to the airport with her. She felt it was better to fuck one more time and have a positive goodbye versus a sappy one. I still didn't know her name. I was deep in thought when my cell rang in my pocket.
"Hey Embry, we need you to come home." I heard Jake's voice say when I answered.
"Jake, look I am fine where I am. I have a new job and just need to be away for a bit more." I started to say.
"Embry it's serious." He began to say. I rolled my eyes while driving.
"It always is." I laughed interrupting him.
"No, Bry we have a new pack member." He said. To say I was shocked was an understatement.
"How is that possible? Every line's kids have shifted. I was the only shocker." I asked.
"Apparently you've got some competition for surprises." He laughed.
"How serious is this?" I asked.
"Well considering the person is twenty five and hadn't heard our stories since she was little, it's come as a big shock to everyone." He stressed.
"Wait, she? As in female? The first female shifter in our history?" I asked astounded.
"See I told you, you'd want to come and see for yourself." He finished. I pondered in my head for a minute.
"My free choice, can leave whenever I like?" I double checked.
"Of course. Just we'd appreciate the extra hand. It's more complicated than you can imagine." He explained.
"Yeah, I'll be down in a week. Just give me some time to get there." I shrugged rubbing my neck.
"Great! We could use someone new to defuse the tension." He laughed before hanging up.
One Week Later
"Dude you are in for one wild ride." Quill laughed clapping me on the shoulder. I finally made it to La Push after driving from California. The weather was different and I had to admit it was nice to be home. Jake, Seth, and Quill met me outside Jake's house.
"So you all going to tell me what all of this is about?" I laughed back at Embry.
"You remember my sister?" Seth asked rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Not really. I went to school with the pale faces. All I remember was hearing about the love triangle between Sam, your sister and Emily." I chuckled.
"Well short recap. Sam was engaged to my sister, Leah, when they were eighteen which was six years ago. Sam phased and then imprinted on Emily who happened to be in town to be the maid of honor. They fucked and my sister left to get some air which turned out to be six years of it." Seth summed up.
"Right… But I hadn't phased yet so I didn't hang out with you back then. I was probably fourteen when your sister bailed dude. I never met her." I shrugged.
"Right, which is good because she will need someone impartial to the situation." Jake sighed.
"What situation?" I asked confused and Quill rolled his eyes.
"Leah came back several weeks ago because Harry is not doing so well. And about two weeks in saw Sam and Emily at Clearwater's and flipped shit." Jake filled in the blanks.
"Oh my God, she has Clearwater blood and phased!" I groaned slapping my hand across my face. This is not good. Everyone nodded.
"On top of it all, they are linked when in wolf form and Leah has not quit biting at anything Sam does. Not to mention he thinks about his imprint all the time." Seth sighed.
"She understands about the imprint, but she hates having to be back and Sam doesn't seem to want her to leave now." Jake sighed.
"Can't she join your pack?" I asked.
"We are working on it but we have to do it behind Sam's back. And if he finds out he could alpha her and then I would have to fight Sam for alpha which I don't want to do now that we have some peace between our packs. We have to do this carefully." Jake said. I rolled my eyes because the easiest thing to do was to just have her switch packs.
"She's not taking orders or directions well. And we three can't help her because we are Jake's pack." Quill motioned.
"So it's me you want to be the inside man?" I asked throwing my hands up as they nodded smiling at me.
"Fine. I'll do it and then I am going back to California." I sighed earning nods from all three of them. I then heard the sound of glass breaking from inside the house. Seth just sighed shaking his head.
"Get the fuck out Uley!" I heard a female voice yell as we approached the house. We saw Sam in the kitchen surrounded by broken glass.
"Hey Embry." He waved as he turned back to Leah. And that's when my eyes met hers. Except she wasn't a stranger. She was Sarah from California and she went white when she saw me.
