Finding Our Future ch2

When Haley made it home, she went straight to the shower as wanted to wash off the smell of the plane and freshen up. Her shower wasn't as she expected when she stood under the warm water. Her mind was full of images of a naked Nathan washing her too.

Get your mind out of the gutter. He doesn't want you that way she spoke battling with her thoughts as she finished her shower.

Nathan too had a hard time getting visions of Haley out of his mind in his shower too. Just remembering her smooth skin from when he squeezed her hand earlier. Above all else he was kicking himself for not hugging her goodbye. Then he quickly remembered that she had given him her number. So having taken off the clothes he was wearing earlier. He went in search of his jeans to find the scrap of paper.

"Hey 23 call me" is what Haley had written on the scrap of paper along with her number.

Nathan debated with himself, should I text her, should I call her. No it's too soon; I should wait a while longer.

Once Haley got changed in a clean tank top and shorts. She checked her phone to see if she had any calls or texts. Any that she did have were from Quinn seeing if she was home yet. None from the person that had occupied her mind in the shower. Honestly this made her feel a little sad, that she hadn't heard from him yet. In a way she had no right to be mad. Today was the first they saw each other in seven years.

"Hi Clay, yeah I just got back about an hour ago."

"Oh okay! Well Quinn and I are just hanging out with you want to come over."

"I'm not sure man; it's been a long day of travel."

"Sure you can always crash here if you get too tired to drive home."

"Fine I'll be there soon."

"Fuck it I'm texting her," he spoke after a few minutes.

"Hi Hales, its Nathan."

Just as Haley grabbed her purse she felt her phone buzz. She smiled to herself when a number she didn't know flashed up on the screen. She felt the same butterflies from earlier as she read the time.

"Nathan who?"

She replied deciding to have a little fun and some friendly flirting.

"Nathan Scott the guy who sat beside you on the plane today. Also the guy you used to tutor in high school."

He texted back to her.

"Sorry I think you're describing two very different people. The guy on the plane is definitely someone I would like to get to know a little better, if that's okay?"

Nathan laughed as her read her flirty reply. This time he decided to do something different with his reply.

After a few minutes Haley phone started ringing.

"Hello," she answered nervously.

"Hi Hales, you think you're funny do you?" He questioned joking around with her

"Oh I know I am. I also know that you liked it."

"Yeah well I also liked the girl in the white oversized hoodie and blue leggings I met on the plane today."

"Well I'm not sure if she was interested in you. The guy never even hugged her goodbye, what a way to make a girl feel cheap."

"Yeah sorry about that. I wanted to hug you; I just didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable. Trust me! I would never want to make you feel cheap. You're one of a kind Haley James." He spoke being totally open and honest with her.

"Apologies accepted. So what about this coffee?"

"Well I have a 4th July party to go to tomorrow afternoon. I could meet you in the morning, if that works for you?" He spoke wanting to see her as soon as possible.

"Um yeah I should be free about 10." She answered smiling at the thought of seeing him so soon.

"Perfect! I'll meet you at Karen's. Bye Hales."

"Bye Nathan."

Haley finally got herself together after talking with Nathan again. She made the short drive over to Quinn's new house.

Haley knocked on the front door as soon as she arrived.

"It's open Haley," Quinn shouted to her.

"Quinn where are you?" Haley spoke coming into the house.

"She is in the kitchen," Clay spoke coming out of the office to greet her.

"Thanks Clay," she spoke making her way into the kitchen.

"Haley bob, your finally here. How was your trip?" She asked while giving her a big hug.

"Quinn I came straight here after dropping my stuff off and showering at home," she commented to her.

"I just missed you,"

"I was only away for five days,"

"I just wish I had of went with you. How is Brooke anyways?"

"She is good, busy as every launching her new line,"

"Aww I'm glad things are working out so well for her right now,"

"Yeah she has done great and Julian is a really great guy,"

"Speaking of guys,"

"Quinn! What have you done?" She questioned to her with a stern look.

"Well Clay and I thought,"

"You mean you thought,"

"Yeah well we invited one of his clients over that we thought you might like to get to know," she explained to her.

"I can find my own guys,"

"Well look how well that's working over,"

"Whatever! I guess one evening won't hurt,"

Knock, knock.

"Haley bob will you get that," Quinn spoke smiling at her sister.

"Fine," she mumbled walking to the front door.

Nathan stood on the front porch waiting for Clay to answer the door.

"Haley!" He spoke excited when the person that opened the door came into view.

"Hi Nathan,"

"What are you doing here? Did you lie earlier are you dating Clay?" He asked getting annoyed but worried at the same time.

"First of all this is my sister Quinn's house. No I didn't lie to you earlier. Before I let you in, you need to know they are trying to set us up together," she explained trying to stay calm at him.

"Right sorry for jumping to conclusions this night just got a little more interesting. Who knows they might be onto something setting us up," he replies smirking at her.

"Haley what is taking so long?. Come in," she called to them both.

"Whatever! Just follow my lead," Haley spoke leading them both back into the kitchen were Quinn and Clay were talking.

"Nathan, great you're here. You know Quinn and this is her sister Haley," he spoke introducing her.

"Sisters right," he spoke looking between the two girls, pretending that he didn't already know the Pair.

"Nathan Scott," Quinn spoke as she watched Haley start to panic a little.

"Quinn James, it's good to see you again too," he replied smiling at her.

"You know him Quinn," Clay asked confused a little.

"Yeah we actually all grow up in the same neighbourhood and went to high school together," she explained to him.

"Hi Nate, good to see you again," Haley spoke softly reaching her hand out to him.

"Hi Hales, it's really good to see you again too," he spoke with shaking her hand.

They both felt a spark travel up their arm as their hands met, before they broke away from each other.

"How about I get us some beers and wine we head out to the outside dining area. You guys can share some guys of you all growing up together," Clay spoke breaking the silence.

"Sure, I'll help you," Nathan spoke following him.

-x-

"So Haley bob, what do you think?. Still the sexy star basketball player you pretended not to have a crush on in high school. Quinn asked excited.

"Shut up Quinn. I hate that you know me so well when it comes to those sort things," she spoke Looking at her sister.

"I'm sorry Haley bob really. Clay never told me that the guy he was talking about was Nathan Scott. Or I would have given you some warning. In all seriousness what do you think nearly seven years later?" She asked curiously.

Well after only being back in his company for all of five minutes so far. I guess he is still kind of cute," she spoke trying to play it cool.

"Quinn, relax let's just see how things pan out tonight. I'm not rushing into anything. I don't even know if he likes me that way back," she spoke looking over her shoulder outside to where Nathan was talking with Clay.

"Oh with the way he was checking out your ass just now. I would definitely think he still has feelings toward you," she commented trying to reassure Haley.

"Just play it cool Quinn for me. We can't scare him off on the first night," she replied as the sisters went outside to join them.

She couldn't help admiring how good Nathan looked in his blue shirt and white shorts. Thinking back to Nathan's word early things were about to get more interesting.
