Rachel's Point of View
Paul and I were running in the morning when we heard a strange commotion. We looked at each other confused before we heard it again and more.
"Embry you are fucking insane! I am not doing that!" I heard a female voice say. Paul laughed and ran up to the commotion and I followed.
"What are you guys doing?" Paul asked Embry and this female I had never seen before but looked familiar.
"None of your fucking business mutt." The girl snapped at Paul earning an eye roll from him.
"You must be Leah Clearwater." I smiled offering my hand. She shook it hesitantly.
"How did you figure that?" Embry laughed coming up to hug me.
"She's the only other female besides myself that will cuss any of you wolf boys out." I laughed earning a laugh from Leah.
"You must be Rachel Black." She smiled standing up. I appreciated her attitude.
"You going to answer my question?" Paul asked again motioning to a sweaty Leah. Leah and Embry exchanged a nervous glance.
"Sam won't train me." She said keeping her voice at low volume. Paul and I looked at each other shocked.
"He won't train you?" Paul repeated looking from Leah to Embry.
"Is it because you're female?" I asked pissed off. She was the first female shapeshifter in history and had every right to train like the boys.
"No. We think it's a bit more complicated than that." Embry said sitting down to drink water. Paul looked at him and nodded understanding. I was confused as hell.
"Leah was Sam's fiancé before he imprinted on Emily who happens to be her cousin." Paul explained looking at me.
"What!" I exclaimed. Paul quickly put his hand over my mouth.
"It's known but Sam doesn't like it mentioned." Paul said pulling away.
"So you are training her in secret?" I whispered. Leah looked nervously at Embry. Embry looked at Paul begging him with his eyes not to say anything.
"Paul. Please don't say anything to anyone else." I pleaded knowing the imprint bond would cover it.
"Babe I might have to. I can't disobey my alpha and you know that." He sighed. Embry looked down defeated.
"Well I am imprint asking you not to tell him. If he alpha commands you, then you cant help it. But if he never is told then he won't alpha command you. You are not disobeying, you are just not saying anything." I smiled because I was a clever bitch. Paul grinned back at me and shrugged.
"Sam won't hear it from me." He smiled at Embry and Leah. I kissed him before going to hug Leah.
"Thank you." She smiled hugging me back.
"We wolf girls have to stick together. Besides who knows maybe someday I'll get pissed enough like you did and phase." I laughed. Paul's face was hilarious and so was Embry's.
"What you guys think she is going to be the only female shifter in history? I am in the alpha bloodline too but just don't have the fire that Leah has yet. Besides the next bloodline might have all girls. " I laughed walking away.
"If only we'd be so lucky." Leah shouted as Paul chased after me continuing our run.
"God, the thought of you becoming a wolf is such a turn on now." Paul laughed as we went back to my house.
Embry's Point of View
"Okay Leah, take a bit of a break and then we will continue." I instructed sipping my water. Leah sat down shaking from the workout.
"Why am I doing workouts as a human? Aren't we going to be fighting phased?" She gasped drinking her water.
"Leah, I know you were in shape before in California but we need you to become a warrior here." I reasoned.
"Yeah, but phasing made me more fit than California." She remarked. I glanced at her body and felt her shift uncomfortably.
"Yeah the genes did that to you and everyone else. It isn't enough. Everyone else thinks it is enough because they get exercise running as wolves and are body heat eliminates fat. Being cut isn't being strong enough to fight." I explained.
"But everyone else…" She started to argue.
"Leah have you realized I am bigger than most of the guys in this group?" I asked cutting her off. She went silent.
"I am not like everyone else belonging to certain bloodlines. I am not like Jake or you or Seth. I was an accident. My dad was one of the tribe leaders who fucked my mom and split. Yet, I have the gene like the rest of you. So I work to be better than just a kid who accidentally inherited the gene. By being strong I prove to myself that I belong here. Be stronger than the gift." I argued getting fired up.
"Okay." She said before going back to the tree. I smiled at her knowing she understood what I said.
"Can you give me a boost?" She sassed hands on her hips. I went over and lifted her up as she grabbed the branch to do pull ups.
"Be strong enough to defend yourself in both forms. Be strong enough to prove you can run with the pack." I said getting on the ground to do pushups next to her in the tree.
