Paul's Point of View
"What are you doing here Paul?" Leah hissed about to slam the door in my face.
"Girl, let me in and stop being such a bitch." I hissed back. I was twenty times bitchier than her.
"What a great way to make me invite you in." She remarked before slamming the door in my face. I bit back the growl and continued to knock on the door.
"Leah let me in. It's about Embry." I shouted knowing she would open the door to that. Sure enough she did open the door.
"I don't give a fuck about him." She growled attempting to slam the door in my face again but I caught it and moved myself in with ease since she was tinier than me. I sat down and she huffed at me.
"Your actions at the bonfire the other night suggest otherwise." I shrugged making her grip the chair about to break it.
"For the thousandth time I was on a tequila kick. I would have had sex with Rachel!" She spat. I grinned at her.
"I mean go for it. Just record it so I can watch it later." I smirked with a wolfish grin. She was steaming mad and picked up a spoon like she was going to stab me.
"For fuck sakes Clearwater pick up a knife not a damn spoon if you want to scare me." I rolled my eyes as she slowly sat down in a sassy manner.
"Why are you here?" She inquired but looked like she was going to smack me.
"Embry's dad is one of the pack member's dad's. Obviously since his mama is white as fucking snow. He left her before Embry was born." I started to say.
"Yeah I know. He told me." She sputtered. I rolled my eyes and cut her off.
"Did he tell you that she had brought in all these men to replace mystery dad and the men abused the fuck out of Embry?" I spat harshly earning a look of shock from her. Her face slowly began to fall showing her true colors… she did really care for him.
"I didn't know that." She whispered looking embarrassed. I sighed looking out the window.
"Embry and I were brought up by single mothers who cared more about men and drugs rather than their sons. It lead for us to be abused and we got into some trouble." I confessed.
"Trouble?" She asked trying to understand.
"Yeah, I got arrested for fighting. Embry had it worse because he was alone. Eventually Jared's mom pulled me to live with her but Embry was at a white kid school off the reservation. It wasn't until your dad stepped in that he got out of trouble." I explained. Jared had saved my life and I wouldn't have lived to phase if it wasn't for Jared and his family.
"How did my dad step in?" Leah asked. I shrugged not knowing the full story.
"I don't know. I think your dad saw Embry out somewhere and recognized the features and signs. Brought him somehow to live here with the condition he get clean and be better as a role model for Seth since Seth was younger. Your mom didn't like it at first but Embry earned his place here. Which is why you can't stay mad at him." I spoke. She crossed her arms in defiance.
"Oh I can't be mad at him?" She huffed rolling her eyes.
"Leah, later yes. Now please don't. He loves your dad too much. Harry has a special bond with Embry and I really think your dad saved Embry's life having him stay here. You know your dad isn't going to be around much longer, please don't keep Embry away." I begged her. Her eyes filled up with tears when I mentioned her dad's prognosis.
"I didn't mean to keep him away from my dad. I just thought he hated me after…" Leah stuttered letting one tear slip.
"After you guys fought and called off whatever was going on?" I finished for her. Her face became white as she realized I knew.
"Leah, it's okay. I won't tell anyone. Quill told me because I asked about the tension about the joint situation. Sam won't hear about it from me." I promised. She slowly nodded at me collecting herself.
"Make up with him. He doesn't hate you. He is going through a hard time with his mom and could really use your dad and you as a friend." I stated making her nod in compliance.
"Leah, I saw the way he was staring at you during the bonfire." I sighed standing up.
"How was he staring at me?" She inquired.
"The same way you were staring at him." I whispered heading out the door.
"Truth is Leah that Jared and I are good enough to leave Sam's pack. We just need you. Collin and Brady will be too small to defend Sam from Jake. We then could persuade Sam to let it happen peacefully for the sake of the younger pups and then we can get Embry out. That's the plan Jared and I have to get Embry out safely. We have to all be ready and make Sam realize it's for the best. Then you can stare at Embry some more after and figure out that shit. But for now we need you on our side and our side is with Embry. Can you do this for him?" I revealed. She slowly nodded and shook my hand.
"I'll do it for Embry." She promised as I walked out the door. Something inside told me she was hiding something. Maybe she was hiding her true feelings from us and herself.
