Chapter 3: Missing

Bella's POV

It had been a little over two weeks since Nessie had gone missing. Two weeks of pure hell. It all happened one morning while we were out hunting. She'd wandered off a little too far ahead of us and then she was...gone.

I tracked her scent which came to an end about fifteen miles away from the house. With the help of the wolves we'd searched the entire state of Washington in just a few hours. She was gone.

My little nudger was gone. But what had happened to her? Had she been kidnapped? But how could someone get past a coven of vampires and a pack of werewolves?

Thinking of the werewolves brought a certain favorite mechanic of mine to mind. These last two weeks had been nothing but pure agony for Jacob. The pain of not knowing where his imprint was or if she was okay was indiscribable.

I was just as worried for Jacob's wellbeing as I was for Nessie's. I was certain that Jacob hadn't slept or even had something to eat in days.

I didn't know what to do anymore. We'd already searched all the northern states and all of Canada and there was no sign of my daughter anywhere. If we didn't find her soon we'd have no choice but to go down south. We had been avoiding the south because the of the southern vampire wars that still raged on in the southern states. We didn't want to get caught up in disputes for territory. If we didn't find Nessie soon though we wouldn't have a choice.

I gasped when I felt a hand on my back. Edward's hand. I'd been so preoccupied with my thoughts I had been ignoring my senses and didn't hear my husband coming.

I could see the pain he was feeling. As much as Edward was trying his best to stay strong for me I knew he was hurting and he was just as worried as I was.

"We'll find her Bella," he tried to sound reassuring. "and when we find whoever took her they will pay dearly,"

"But how can this happen? How can fate be so cruel as to take her away from us like this?! She's only two and a half months old! She's just a baby..." I would be sobbing right now if it were possible.

"and we will get our baby back Bella. Don't lose hope. At least try not to lose hope. We will find her and bring her home,"

I had to believe that Edward was right. We would bring our baby home. We would find out what happened to her. We would find whoever took her and make them pay with their lives for what they did. I had to believe it.

Edward wrapped his arms around me and held me close to his chest. For a moment I felt a sense of comfort and piece.

The sound came out of nowhere. Whereas one moment it was quiet and the next there was a loud bang as metal collided into another solid object. I ran as fast as I could to the main road where the sound had come from. To my horror I saw Jacob's rabbit wrapped around a tree.

I zipped over to the car in half a second and found slumped over the steering wheel crying. "Jacob!" I shouted.

"She's gone. She's gone," he kept saying over and over again.

"Jacob are you okay?!"

He didn't pay an ounce of attention to a thing I was saying. Jacob was in terrible shape. While he hadn't been seriously hurt in the accident, thank God for his fast healing capabilities, he looked horrible. I could see ugly circles around his eyes and he looked like he had lost weight.

That's it. I couldn't let Jacob continue on like this anymore. I grabbed him and yanked him out of the car.

"Hey!" he protested. "Let me go! I need to find her!"

"Jacob when was the last time you slept or even had something to eat or drink?!"

"How can I eat or sleep when she is missing? I can't waste time eating or sleeping when my imprint is missing,"

"Okay that's it," I seethed angrily as I pulled him further and further away from the truck.

"Hey-"

"I can't let you go like this Jacob. This has gone on long enough. You have become a danger to yourself and other humans on the road,"

"But-"

"I know my daughter is missing! You don't need to remind me!" I hissed angrily. "But endangering yourself like this, and other humans who may cross your path on the road, is not going to help us find Renesmee! What you are going to do right now is go see Carlisle and then you're going to eat something and rest! So help me Jacob if you don't-"

"Okay fine I will,"

I almost had to drag Jacob to Carlisle. Jacob had broken a few bones in the accident. Unfortunately the bones had healed incorrectly so Carlisle had to re-break a number of them to induce proper healing. Carlisle agreed with me that Jacob needed food and rest. At least Jacob had finally stopped fighting it.

At least I didn't have to worry about Jacob anymore. I only had to worry about finding my daughter. I felt so useless sitting here doing nothing while Nessie was out there in danger somewhere.

There was a loud pounding on the door that startled me. I opened the door and there Edward stood. "I think we just found Nessie,"

"What?"

"I just found this online,"he said. "I think she is being held against her will,"

"What?!"

I grabbed the phone from him. There was a picture of my daughter. Underneath it said I have this half human half vampire girl with me. If you ever want to see her again here is my contact information. It was a Houston, Texas address.

All I saw was red now. I was going to find whoever had her and I was going to rip that person apart piece by piece.

"Don't worry Bella. Whoever has her will pay dearly," Edward growled angrily. The phone crumbled in my hands.
