QUICK AUTHOR'S NOTE: The format might be a little weird since it shifts from italics to normal text at several intervals. A line break seemed to interrupt the flow of the story so I used double spacing for most parts. That didn't work for whatever reason so I really hope the single space works well enough. If line breaks should be added next time PLEASE let me know!

"Mr. Suoh , you have a visitor."
Tamaki tried to sneak a peek outside. He saw a flash of raven black hair and the shine of glasses.
"Let him in."
Tamaki spun his chair around. It had become a nervous habit. This was the first time he was going to see Kyoya in four months. Could it be he was ready to talk about the supposed cheating incident? Perhaps he wanted to know what time to meet the hosts tomorrow? It was naive but Tamaki needed some hope for their friendship. Tamaki knew Hunny had spoken to Kyoya but he still hadn't heard the details. All anybody had hear was that a breakthrough had perhaps happened.
Kyoya walked in with his usual air of graceful arrogance but as soon as the door closed behind him he took off his glasses and threw them onto the chair next to him.
Kyoya rubbed his eyes, making Tamaki notice the dark bags under them.
Kyoya leaned back in the chair, not bothering to put his glasses back on. "What...happened?"
Tamaki ruffled his dirty blonde hair, perfectly understanding what Kyoya was asking. "It happened a month after you went to America.."
Haruhi licked her icecream happily. She woke up with an unbearable craving for soft, vanilla, ice cream in a waffle cone. But it wasn't any regular ice cream. She specifically craved the one she had with Hikaru in Karuizawa. Tamaki glanced at her as they walked through the outdoor marketplace.
He felt a strange twinge inside him as he saw her stoop to admire handmade baby toys at one booth. Was it pity that she had to go through it alone? Regret that he wasn't the one that belonged at her side? Or was it that impossible L word that he was prohibited from feeling?
Haruhi laughed as the robotic puppy barked and chased it's tail.
"Isn't that adorable?"
Tamaki laughed with her but not because of the puppy. He laughed because her laughter was contagious.
The lady in charge of the booth smiled widely. "How far along are you?"
"Three months." Haruhi beamed proudly.
"You two must he so happy. How long have you been married?"
Haruhi shifted awkwardly. Tamaki's cheeks began to spot with red color.
"We're not married. My husband is on a business trip right now so our best friend offered to bring me here."
"Oh," The vendor apologized hastily."I'm so sorry."
"No worry. " Haruhi said. "I'll take the white robotic puppy and two baby rattles."
As they continued walking they realized just how many people could mistake them for a couple. After the tenth booth they decided to go home. It was just too weird.
Haruhi heard a rumble. She looked up with a terrified expression.
Tamaki warily moved closer to her. "Let's go before the rain starts."
"I would like to but I need to find a restroom. Pregnant woman problem."
"Let's see then…" The two scanned the perimeter but there was no restroom in sight. Finally they asked a nearby person. The nearest place was two blocks away.
"Can you hold it until we get to your house?"
Haruhi grimaced.
"Right. Of course not. Let's get there as soon as possible then. Did you bring a sweater?"
Haruhi shook her head. "The weather forecast said it was going to be sunny all day."
"Take mine then."
She waved it away. "I'm sure the rain won't start until we're in the car." She said. Tamaki didn't miss the uncertainty in her statement.
Tamaki grew more worried as they walked along. It wasn't cold yet but the sky was graying more as the minutes passed. Haruhi, however, continued to refuse his sweater.
Fine, he thought. "Wait here a sec." Tamaki jogged into the nearest store. Where was it? He knew he saw it somewhere…. Finally he spotted the item he was looking for. He bought it and jogged back to Haruhi.
"Here." Tamaki handed her the bag.
She opened it carefully. Inside was a large, panda sweater. "Why?"
"You kept refusing my offer. If it rains I'm not going to let you get wet so put it on."
Haruhi sighed but was grateful. She zipped up the hoodie.
Tamaki pulled the hood over head. It had cute panda ears and everything. " I'm just sorry it's not built for rain."
"Thank you. I'll pay you back when we get to the car. I really need to go..."
Tamaki understood the implication and they sped up.
Right when Haruhi felt like bursting they found it. She quickly ran in.
When she exited the restroom, the sky wasn't just dark. The sky was charcoal gray and the rain was merciless. She jumped as a sudden rumble of thunder and a flash of lightning seemed to shake the small building they were in.
"Senpai…" Her eyes were round and full of horror.
Tamaki was freaking out on the inside but seemed perfectly calm. "Don't worry. I'll go get the car. You wait here okay? Don't move."
She nodded. He was almost to the doorway when another clap of thunder boomed above them. Haruhi reached out to stop him.
Tamaki froze. This scene was oddly familiar. "Haruhi…"
"I'm sorry." She pulled her hand back quickly.
Tamaki glanced back and forth between her and the door. What to do…
Tamaki pulled out his cellphone.
Five minutes later a cab pulled up. They quickly ran inside.
"Rain came out of nowhere huh? Where to?" The driver said, completely focused on seeing the road ahead of him.
"I know," Tamaki agreed. "We would like to be dropped off at the parking lot."
The driver glanced at them through the mirror. These kids were crazy…
Tamaki smiled knowingly. "My car is there. I just couldn't risk her walking in the rain."
The driver nodded.
When they arrived, Tamaki paid while Haruhi ran to the car.
"It's only 10000 yen, sir. I'm afraid I don't have change." The driver said when he saw the 100,000 Tamaki handed him.
"I know. The change is for you."
The drivers mouth fell open. "Thank you. You know I'm quite a mind reader. I can tell you love your girlfriend very much."
Tamaki only nodded, thanking him.
"Mind reader, huh?" He asked himself when the cab pulled away. He brushed soaked strands of hair out of his face as he ran to the car. He quickly entered the driver's side. Haruhi had her eyes closed and ears covered. Her breathing was shaky but starting to steady.
He reached over to cover her with the blanket he kept in his car. "Don't worry, the rain will let up soon."
The car ride was silent except for the soft music playing on the radio. The songs were fragmented due to the lack of signal but the soft melodies comforted Haruhi anyway. Her phone's ringtone was a sharp tear through the peace she had finally managed to feel.
It was Kyoya.
"Hello," Haruhi said. She tried to sound angry but she was just happy to hear from him.
"I'm staying in America."
"What?" Her heart sank.
"I can't-" his voice muffled. At first she thought it was the rain. Then she heard talking in the background. " I can't explain at the moment but I figured a month without news from me would be rather cruel."
"So nice of you to be considerate."
"Anyway, what were these news you've been eager to tell me?"
"I-"
"Hold on." She heard his voice faintly. Even with the bad reception she could tell he was in a room full of people. He seemed to be at some sort of event. "I'm back. Where were we?"
"I'm p-"
"Sorry. What did you say? Actually you know what nevermind. I just called to say I don't know how long I'll stay."
"You're at an event aren't you?"
"Yes I am. I'm sorry but I've got to go there are people waiting for me. Bye." Click.
Haruhi let her phone fall from her hand. The rain was slowly getting lighter but the windows were still being pelted with fat drops of water.
Tamaki coughed. "Maybe we should turn up the radio?"
Haruhi just nodded, staring out the window.
I would like to forget you...I followed you blindly
Tamaki glanced at Haruhi nervously. "Actually, I don't like this song. I'm going to change the station." His hand tried to turn the knob but she stopped him.
But everything wasn't enough….Like fire in a storm your love was extinguished
"I need this. I need an excuse." He wasn't looking at her but he could imagine her large brown eyes pleading silently.
Tamaki reluctantly let the song play.
Everything wasn't enough. Everything is nothing now.
Haruhi covered her face with the blanket.
Tamaki didn't know what to do. He was driving, what could he do?
A new melody began to play. He prayed it wasn't as depressing as the last one. She was too vulnerable for anything.
I liked you because you were smart...you trapped me because you kiss like nobody else can.
He sighed in relief. It was a love song that wasn't depressing.
You left me when you got what they all want…
He cursed under his breath. What were the odds of two depressing songs playing at this exact moment?
Haruhi began to hiccup. Her attempt to remain silent only made her sobs more obvious. Tamaki couldn't take it anymore.
Carefully, he checked his mirrors and pulled over. He was glad they were still in a relatively sparsely populated area. It wasn't tourist season yet.
His hand touched the blanket, forcing her to twist away. Her sniffles became louder.
"Haruhi, please let me help you."
She shook her head under the blanket. "I can handle it myself. I always do."
"Always?" He asked softly.
She didn't answer, her body trembling.
"Haruhi, don't do this. Your child needs you to be strong."
"I know."
"I want to help you. How can I help you feel better?"
"Take me home."
Tamaki sighed. The raindrops began to fall harder. It was as if the sky had suddenly decided that it didn't want to stop anymore. It wanted to give away the rain until there was nothing left.
He didn't want to risk driving when the rain was getting worse but at least the thunder had stopped. He also didn't feel at ease letting her cry miserably when he knew he could help her somehow. A familiar song began to play on the radio.
"Haruhi, don't freak out okay?" Tamaki had a brilliant idea. When he was younger his mother sang him to sleep after a nightmare. "I know a way to calm you down but please don't...well you'll know."
He swallowed hard. The song was the only problem with this method. Slowly, he began to sing the song softly, almost whispering.
"until the day her love will come, I will stay by her side like this. Since it is a happy love for me just giving i don't want anything else from her." His voice cracked, not because he couldn't keep the tune but because he couldn't say the words. "I will be there wherever you call out. Without a change I will be there. Because I-" another crack. Those words were forbidden between them. Haruhi peeked out from under the blanket.
Tamaki turned away slightly. He didn't want to see her expression. The fact that he couldn't hear her sobbing anymore was a good sign though. "Until the day you meet the person to protect you instead of me...even if you leave me without a goodbye I will send you away thankfully."
Haruhi removed the blanket slowly. For some reason Tamaki sounded pained.
He finished with an awkward cough.
"Senpai, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were having relationship issues too..."
"I told you not to worry Haruhi. It's just a song with a nice melody. The lyrics could be cheerier but didn't my beautiful voice calm you down?" He mustered his famous charming smile.
Haruhi nodded, still unsure about the change in his voice when he sang that song "Thank you." There was something about the way he sang the lyrics that implied they meant more to him than what he led on.
"You're welcome." He smiled. "NOW we can head home. I just wanted to make sure you were better."
"I am." She smiled.
Tamaki checked his mirror. The rain wasn't stopping anytime soon but after that little incident of his, he was eager to drop her off at the Ootori vacation home. He didn't want to risk having to explain any more than necessary. When he made sure that the coast was clear he moved onto the main street.
"I managed to calm her down so I thought it was best to get her home as quickly as possible. After that…"
"What?" Kyoya practically demanded.
"Everything just... It happened too fast. I'm still not sure about how it happened."
"Tell me,Tamaki."
Tamaki had barely managed to pull onto the road when he felt his car jerk forward violently. His foot pressed down on the brake out of instinct. A loud crash. A scream;maybe it was his, maybe it was Haruhi's. It might have been both. Everything went black for a minute. Then came the searing pain, the feeling that his head had been split in half. He couldn't move, couldn't register anything that had happened, could barely even breathe.
The first thought that came to mind as soon as he had regained some senses was, "Haruhi." His arms weakly pushed the airbag out of the way. He reached over to find her. "Haruhi?" Her eyes were closed, body still. His eyes widened in alarm. The sight alone supplied him with a burst of energy. Wincing at the slightest of movements, he pulled his phone out. His voice shook as he spoke to the operator. An ambulance! He needed an ambulance before anything else!
By the time it arrived, Tamaki had managed to push the bothersome materials away from Haruhi. He couldn't open the door or the windows because of the rain but he had to give her some breathing room somehow.
At Tamaki's pause, Kyoya questioned him. "Then what?"
"I blacked out as soon as I saw the paramedics take her. Next thing I knew I was in the hospital."
Tamaki covered his eyes immediately after opening them. The blinding white light made spots dance around his vision. He groaned at the soreness in his arms. It felt as if he had done two hundred pushups in one go. His eyes slowly adjusted to the brightness. He looked around. The room was white and smelled like cleaning products. He was wearing a hospital gown.
HOSPITAL GOWN?! He shot up, immediately regretting it. He clutched his stomach, wanting to curse for maybe the third time that day. A nurse hurried in, urging him to lie back down. " , you can't move around too much yet. Please stay still." She hurried along the room, gathering and preparing her materials.
Tamaki complied but he didn't like it. He had the strange feeling he had to do something. His mind was still registering the fact that he was in the hospital.
The nurse carefully set up her equipment. "Take this medicine. It'll help with the pain you're feeling." The nurse helped him sit up before handing him a cup of water and a white pill. "The doctor will be here in a bit, okay?" She exited.
Tamaki lied back down. He stared at the ceiling blankly. Then he sprung up again. This time he ignored the pain even though he wanted to cry out. He stood up on wobbly legs.
The door opened. Tamaki walked to the doctor unsteadily. "Where's Haruhi?" He asked with an urgency that surprised the doctor. "Is she okay? How's the baby? Where are they? Take me to them." At this point Tamaki was holding on to the doctor's coat.
The doctor removed Tamaki's hand. " , you need to stay calm." She led Tamaki back to the bed. " is in the room across the hall. She hasn't woken up yet but her vitals show she's doing perfectly fine."
"And the baby?"
"It's doing fine too."
Tamaki heaved a relieved sigh. " Okay...when can I see her?"
The doctor smiled. "Soon. I need to make sure you're fine so I'm going to make you perform some tests to check your reflexes, balance and other things. Thankfully you two weren't harmed as badly as you could have been."
Tamaki and the doctor went through a series of tests, each one causing a little more pain than the last. When they finished Tamaki sat back down. His body was gaining more strength but he felt a thin layer of sweat on his forehead. "You are going to continue feeling aches here and there but other than that you're in good condition. As soon as you feel that you're ready to move around without pain call the nurse. She can take you to your friend."
"Thank you doctor."
"The medicine knocked me out but as soon as I could walk on my own I called the nurse."
"Was that when…?" Kyoya asked quietly.
The blonde closed his eyes and took a deep breath before continuing the next part of his story.
Tamaki knocked on the door as quietly as he could. He entered, closing the door behind him.
Haruhi shifted on the bed. Tamaki sat on the chair at her side. She didn't seem hurt but he didn't stop worrying. After all, the nurse said she had a couple of bruises.
Tamaki studied her sleeping face. How did she look so calm even after everything that happened?
"How long are you going to stare at me senpai?"
Tamaki jumped, putting a hand to his chest. "You're awake?"
Haruhi shifted again, lying on her back. "I needed some time alone. I thought you were one of the twins when you came in."
"They were forced to leave an hour ago." Tamaki hesitated. Then he sighed. "This is all my fault. I'm so sorry Haruhi…"
Haruhi took his hand in hers. "No, it isn't. I know you wouldn't put me in danger. The other driver was at fault."
"They caused the accident but I shouldn't have been driving in the rain in the first place. I could've stopped at the nearby hostel instead."
"Tamaki, I'm fine. My baby is fine. You are fine. That's all that matters." Haruhi said reassuringly.
Tamaki reluctantly agreed. "I'm just so...relieved. " He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "I don't know what I would do if either of you got hurt."
"But we didn't."
"Yeah…" He nodded slowly. "But I can't say the same for the other driver."
"What do you mean?"
"The doctor told me he's in critical condition. According to her, we are extremely lucky to have only received minor aches."
Haruhi didn't know what to do with that information except to feel gratitude for their well being and pity for the person.
The two remained in comfortable silence for a while. Finally the doctor came in. Haruhi gave Tamakis hand another squeeze before letting go
"I was discharged the next day but Haruhi had to stay for a week."
"To make sure everything was functioning properly." Kyoya muttered to himself. "But I don't understand why I wasn't notified. Aren't I her legal guardian and the first person in her emergency contacts?"
Tamaki gave him a dirty look. Kyoya would be diced into pieces and burned if looks could kill.
"I don't know why. You tell me why the hell your phone forwarded all of our calls. And why we were unable to find a number to the house you were staying in or even to any of your business contacts."
Kyoya's mouth opened. Then it closed. Finally he said, "I was walking around the offices when an idiot bumped into me. My cell phone fell out of my hand and down two floors."
"And you couldn't be bothered to replace it?!" Tamaki nearly shouted.
Kyoya reciprocated in the same tone. "Unlike you, I don't have time to do menial tasks. It was on my assistant's to do list but it wasn't a priority."
"Well, what about your work phone, huh? What's your excuse there?"
"That phone is specifically for Japan only. I use a different phone number in other countries."
"Well that's stupid."
"Not when I have friends like you that bother me every minute of the day."
"You think I'm going to sit here and let you continue to insult me?" Tamaki erupted. He stood up. "I keep trying to help you but you don't even thank me! All you do is put me down and degrade everything that I am! If you think I'm such an idiot get out." Tamaki pointed to the door angrily.
Kyoya flinched. He had never witnessed such a spectacle from Tamaki.
Tamaki sat down slowly trying to recover his sanity. "I don't want to leave you alone or in the dark. I want to help you." He said through gritted teeth but with sincerity. "But I can't continue to do so if you don't show me even a bit of respect Kyoya. And I'm not just angry because of how you treat me. That's the least of my worries. I'm angry that you couldn't be bothered to check up on her. You ABANDONED her, Kyoya."
"I didn't know she was pregnant!"
"So what?! No real man would leave his wife for months without any form of contact or even the semblance of an attempt to care for her."
At Kyoya's silence Tamaki continued. "Do you love Haruhi, Kyoya?"
"You know the answer to that Tamaki."
"When was the last time you told her?"
Kyoya didn't know. He honestly had no memory of when it could have been. Their anniversary last year? He didn't go home. The anniversaries of previous years were a blur to him . Why couldn't he remember some of what should have been the happiest moments in his life? All he could say was, "I see your point."
"That's a start." Tamaki responded coldly. He was still red from the vexation he felt earlier.
"I know I did wrong."
Tamaki scoffed. 'Wrong'. What an understatement.
"But nothing will be fixed if I'm kept in the dark. Please tell me what happened."
Tamaki stared at him for a long time, truly debating whether or not to continue. "Haruhi was the first person to give up trying to contact you."
"We have to keep trying!" Hikaru shouted.
Kaoru patted his shoulder. "Calm down. Shouting won't fix anything. Besides, You might scare the baby."
"I hate Kyoya. That bastard!"
'"I appreciate your help but Kyoya hasn't answered at all in a week. There's no point in wasting time calling a ghost."
The hosts traded identical looks.
"We don't like it but we'll respect your decision." Mori said.
"Thank you. Besides, it's been two days since I was released. I'm fine and so is my daughter."
"Well that's- DAUGHTER?" Tamaki screamed his lungs out. He immediately ran to her side and hugged her stomach. Haruhi blushed at the sudden reaction. Seriously…
Tamaki cooed at her stomach as the other hosts questioned her.
"The doctor said it's too soon to confirm since she's only three months old but apparently they can start guessing. It's not completely accurate yet though"
"What are you going to name her?"
"I was thinking-"
"Sakurako" Kyoya said. Haruhi and Kyoya had thought of the same name when they were imagining their future children. The cherry blossoms were at full bloom the day of their wedding. They looked beautiful, illuminated by the silver moonlight on their wedding night. They had laughed when they both said the same word. For the exact same reason too. It would forever be a reminder of the way God seemed to bless their marriage. After all, nature remained the purest of God's creations. The couple could only see the beautiful blossoms as a good omen.
Tamaki raised an eyebrow. "How did you know?"
Kyoya looked away. "It's an...intimate detail I'd rather not disclose." At the time that future seemed so far away.
Tamaki shrugged. "Well, you're right."
"-Sakurako."
The hosts awed.
Tamaki began to sniffle.
Kaoru laughed at his antics. "Senpai, you're not the one having a kid."
"I know but," Tamaki wiped his tears. "I'm just so happy!"
Hikaru rolled his eyes. "If I was a stranger I'd think you were the father."
Tamaki glared at him.
Kyoya stopped Tamaki. "I need some air." He stood up to pace around the room.
Tamaki ignored him. Haruhi had yo auffer blow agter blow. It was Kyoya's turn. "Anyway, everything was fine until the next day..."
Tamaki happily entered the Ootori home. Sakurako! He had the perfect present for his goddaughter. "Haruhiiiii!"
Kotoko timidly walked to him with hesitant steps. Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying. She sniffed. " isn't- she isn't…"
Tamaki dropped his bags, running to the living room, the kitchen and finally upstairs. He opened the door to the master bedroom. Nothing. The office. Nothing.
He opened the door to the last room she could be in - the bathroom.
His eyes widened as he absorbed the scene before him. Blood. There was a small puddle of blood on the floor. But there was still no Haruhi.
"Where is she?"
Kotoko shook her head, too busy crying to talk.
"Answer me!" Tamaki shouted.
Scared into speaking, the young woman stammered a response, "She- she didn't want anybody to know so we called the- the ambulance."
"That. Stupid. Girl." Tamaki ignored Kotoko's loud sobs and rushed out. He quickly entered and turned on his car, not bothering to put on a seatbelt until he was actually driving. It was only when he was on the road that he realized he hadn't asked which hospital she was being taken to. He cursed, hitting the steering wheel of his (new) car.
"Well the logical place would be the nearest Ootori Group hospital or the hospital you were taken to after you suffered the accident," Kyoya interrupted.
"You think I couldn't figure that out in the moment?" Tamaki said menacingly.
"I hope you did."
Tamaki's already intense stare became a subzero glare. "She was taken to a public hospital, not an Ootori Group hospital."
"Why?"
"Oh, I don't know," Tamaki's sarcasm was reserved for moments like these. "Think about it while I tell the story."
Tamaki ran to the receptionist.
"Is Haruhi Fujioka here?"
Ignoring his hurried manner, the receptionist browsed through the computer "She is a patient here."
"I need to see her." Tamaki restrained himself from shouting but could tell the nurse had taken offense to his tone.
"Are you related to the patient? We only disclose information to relatives unless otherwise instructed by the patient. "
Tamaki gritted his teeth. "I'm her husband."
"Okay, what is your name?"
"Kyoya Ootori."
"Address?"
Tamaki nearly screamed at the receptionist but he answered every question.
"Alright, it seems the patient was transferred to the fifth floor. Room 510."
"Finally!" Tamaki broke into a sprint.
"Oh, sir! If you run through the hall I'll have to escort you out."
Tamaki threw an exasperated look back at the receptionist but slowed down. He pressed the elevator button. 1...2...3.. Too long! Tamaki took the stairs instead and since nobody was around, he ran.
When he arrived at the top of the stairs he was out of breath but fought through his labored breathing to ask a nearby nurse where the room was.
"Is it because she couldn't speak when they were transporting her?"
"I wish that was the case. Then maybe I wouldn't resent you so much."
Tamaki bumped into the doctor as he was stepping into the room.
"I'm sorry but you can't go in there."
"I'm her husband."
The doctor nodded in realization. Kyoya Ootori?"
Tamaki nodded.
The doctor looked away, as if ashamed of what he was about to say. "In that case, come with me."
"It was because she didn't want to go to an Ootori hospital, isn't it?" Kyoya asked quietly.
"Isn't it terrible to realize that Haruhi used the last of her strength in the ambulance to beg them not to take her to an Ootori Group hospital? She told them to restrain from contacting her husband, Kyoya."
"Why?"
"If I knew I wouldn't tell you. I imagine it was because, on top of what she surely realized was happening, she didn't want to suffer the displeasure of knowing her husband didn't care enough to pick up the phone."
Tamaki drank the water in the bottle greedily.
The doctor waited for him to finish before speaking.
Tamaki was scared. No, he was terrified. Nothing in his life had ever induced such a strong feeling of fear.
"It would seem that Mrs Ootori is suffering from a complete placental abruption. As the name suggests, her placenta has been completely detached from her uterus."
"No." Kyoya almost laughed in disbelief. "That's not possible. Placental abruption of all things? There's a twenty percent chance, or less, of that happening during the first trimester. Are we that unlucky?"
Tamaki let Kyoya wallow in his thoughts for a while before continuing.
"It's extremely uncommon for this to happen, especially during the first trimester."
Tamaki didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing. The blank look on his face prompted the doctor to continue.
"Because of this, when it occurs it's extremely serious. We don't yet know the cause but it may occur after some sort of trauma."
"The car accident..." Tamaki hung his head.
The doctor hesitated. "Yes that is what we suspect caused it. In Haruhi's case, there was an incredible amount of blood loss. This was even worse because she appeared to be fine during the initial screenings. Often times, it's unnoticeable until it's too late."
Too late. Tamaki was imagining the worst.
"Its a good thing she called the ambulance as soon as she did or her life would have been in danger too."
"Too?" Tamaki asked. He knew what was coming. He knew and he didn't want to ask but he had to.
The doctor sighed. This was the worst part. "The likelihood of the baby surviving was…"
"Poor at best." Kyoya filled in. His hands were trembling.
Tamaki tried to quiet his crying. Haruhi was still asleep. The pain medication from the surgery had done its job well.
He wiped his tears but found that his cheeks couldn't be anything but wet at the moment. The teardrops were falling too fast.
He brushed away a strand of hair that covered her face. "I'm sorry, Haruhi."
She snored a bit, her hand reaching down to her stomach. Even in her sleep she seemed to have noticed something was wrong.
Tamaki's breathing was suddenly more difficult to control than it had been earlier. "I'm so sorry…It's all my fault. It was that damn car accident…" He didn't have the strength to become angry, just mourn. The doctor returned various times to check on her. Completely worn out from the day's events and his uncontrollable crying, Tamaki fell asleep with his head rested on Haruhi's bed.
An hour later, Tamaki woke up. Haruhi opened her eyes almost immediately after. One look at Tamaki's face was all it took for her world to collapse.
