Tamaki carefully pulled out of the Hitachiin's driveway.

"So, originally the double date was supposed to be with Kaoru and I but he backed out last minute because of that argument I told you about."

Tamaki briefly glanced at Hikaru. Argument? He wondered what disagreement managed to separate the twins.

"That's when I remembered that you're also looking for somebody to move on with so I asked the girl if her cousin was willing to go out with my friend instead of my brother."

"And she agreed?"

"Her cousin hadn't seen Kaoru but she took one look at your profile and immediately said yes."

Tamaki turned on his blinker, preparing to take the freeway. "Didn't she see your picture? You and Kaoru are identical twins after all."

Hikaru shrugged, digging through Tamaki's car compartments for gum or mints. "You know that people never believe twins could be REALLY identical until they see them. Besides, I guess the hair color mattered."

"Okay. Well at least tell me about them before we get there."

"Well what do you want to know?" Hikaru smirked as he found a box of contraceptives. "You been getting busy boss?" He waved it around.

Tamaki glared but refused to look away from the road. "I'll have you know that was my birthday present from you last year."

Hikaru laughed. "Well they're no use now then." He inspected it. "Or maybe they are since they haven't been opened." He placed them back in the container.

"So the girls?"

"Well think of them as the total opposite of Haruhi."

"Are we really going to rate girls on a Haruhi scale?"

Hikaru shrugged. "I mean what other girl have we really ever paid attention to?"

"So they're…"

"Not so nerdy, not so flat chested and much louder."

"Is that a good thing?"

Hikaru finally found a box of mints. "Could be." He popped one into his mouth.

Haruhi and Riku were at a comfortable booth in the far left corner of the lounge.

"I imagine today is your day off. You were technically working for nine hours straight yesterday."

"It's not actually. It is a shortened work day though."

"Really? When do you go in?" Riku sipped his frappe mocha slowly. It gave him a brain freeze when he drank it too fast.

"At noon." Haruhi stirred her coffee. It was still too hot to drink.

"You've got a while."

"Yup. What about you?" She sipped it. Agh. She wished she had some of his frappe to cool her burned tongue.

"I don't have anything planned today but then again I usually don't and end up busy anyway."

Haruhi looked at him quizzically. "How's that?"

"My job consists of sort of spontaneous series of tasks. I mean I do have a steady, everyday occupation but that's back in London. In Japan, I do the things nobody else has the time for or can't do."

"Such as?"

"Negotiating with a foreigner. "

"So you're a translator."

"No." He continues to sip his coffee, making sure to leave the whipped cream for last.

"Then where do you work?"

"That is top secret but I can tell you, you may very well find out soon."

Haruhi was even more confused than she had been before so she remained silent. Her coffee had finally cooled down.

"I hope you don't mind if I order some breakfast. I haven't had a thing to eat since my run this morning."

"Go ahead." Haruhi said politely.

He tried calling the waiter but there was no response.

"That's strange they're usually here in a split second."

"I think it's that giant fish tank." She pointed at the mini aquarium set up in the middle of the room. Dozens of colorful fish were swimming around inside of the tank and in between the various decorations. "It's blocking us from view."

"You're right. I'll try again and if nothing happens I'll go order up front."

Luckily, a waiter happened to he passing by so he stopped to take his order.

"What can I do for you, sir?"

"Do you have any recommended breakfast dish?"

"Our special today is a stack of pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon on the side."

"That sounds delicious." Riku grinned. "I'll take that and some orange juice."

"And for the lady?"

Riku looked at her.

"Ah. I'm good, sorry." Haruhi declined.

"I'm paying so order whatever you like." Riku said happily.

"It's not that. I can pay for my own meal."

" I heard your stomach rumble."

Haruhi flinched. It hadn't rumbled at all.

"I know you want to." Riku replied teasingly.

Haruhi sighed. "Okay I'll take the same thing."

The waiter nodded, writing it down in his notebook. "Will that be all for today?"

"Yes. Thank you."

The waiter left.

"Thank you." Haruhi said. " Honestly I haven't had anything to eat today either," she said.

He grinned. "No problem but why did you decline?"

Haruhi laughed nervously. "I had the strange feeling that I should leave as soon as possible."

"Are you a superstitious person?"

"No, but I do believe everything happens for a reason. I'm also an avid follower of my gut."

"Would you like to leave then?" Riku said. He wasn't as transparent as Tamaki or as reserved as Kyoya he could tell he was disappointed.

"Not at all." Haruhi replied after some thought. Her stomach was flipping with nerves caused by an unknown feeling but she didn't want to leave him eating alone.

The waiter arrived with their food. Haruhi still couldn't get over how fast the service was.

The two began to eat.

Meanwhile Tamaki and Hikaru had finally arrived at the cafe.

"Great, we're late."

"Oh shut up. If you had told me about the date sooner we could have been early."

"You're the one that wanted to take the freeway. Why would you do that if you don't know what exit to take?"

Tamaki huffed and entered the cafe. He scanned the area for two ladies sitting alone but didn't see anything. "Where are they?" He asked Hikaru.

Hikaru scanned the area too. "Well, that looks like her but…" He nodded at the girl with an orange sundress and shades on.

Tamaki shook his head. "It can't be. There's a man with her. Besides there is no other girl there."

Hikaru scanned the room again. "Nope. That's her. She told me she was sitting at the table in the left corner nearest to the entrance."

"Well, you go investigate then." Tamaki pushed Hikaru forward.

"Why me?"

"Because you're the one that set this up!" Tamaki hissed.

Hikaru looked annoyed but straightened up. He walked to the table casually. Tamaki walked a meter behind the twin. If anything embarrassing happened he could pretend he didn't know him.

"Excuse me, are you-"

"Hikaru-kun!" The girl exclaimed. She rose and hugged him tightly. Hikaru uncomfortably hugged her back. "I'm so glad you made it."

"Sorry I'm late."

"No worries. Come sit down."

HIkaru sat across from her. He couldn't help but gulp as the man next to his date stared at him judgmentally. "So, where's your cousin?"

"She's in the restroom. She'll be out soon. Where is your friend?"

Hikaru waved Tamaki over.

Tamaki smiled brightly, as if he wasn't nervous about the big man next to her. "Hello, I'm Tamaki." He stuck his hand out for a handshake.

She shook it eagerly. "My cousin will be here soon. She's a real looker."

Tamaki nodded and sat down. "I've heard so many things about her."
The girl tilted her head. "Really?'" She turned to Hikaru. "Why are you talking about my cousin instead of me Hikaru-kun?"
Hikaru glanced at the man then looked at her. "He had to know what your cousin was like before coming."
A tall girl walked over to the table. She wore a sundress as well but it was ombre. Her sunglasses were pushed to the top of her head. She was obnoxiously chewing on a piece of gum.

"Oh, there she is! This is my cousin."

Tamaki stood up to shake her hand. Before she could reach it she sneezed loudly into it. "Sorry." She took Tamaki's hand. Tamaki's OCD persona was frantically running around inside of him. His voice was squeaky when he spoke, "It's quite alright."

Hikaru didn't know if he should feel sorry for his older friend or if he should laugh at his misery.

Riku stopped eating when he realized Haruhi was staring at him.

"I'm pretty good looking aren't I?" He said.

Haruhi zoned back in from her thoughts to see him wearing a goofy grin. "I'm sorry. I was a little zoned out."

"That's a bummer. I thought you were looking at me."

Haruhi blushed. "Actually, I was looking at the poster behind you."

Riku turned. A giant red poster advertised a contest being held by the cafe. In yellow letters the poster said, 'EAT OUR FAMOUS GIANT HAMBURGER COMBO IN SIXTY MINUTES AND GET A YEAR OF FREE MEALS.'

"You want to try that?" He asked her.

"It looks fun." She responded with frankness. "I have always wanted to join a contest like that."

"Really?" He laughed. "I say you should go for it."

"Seriously?" Haruhi couldn't help her expression. Maybe it was because she was so used to other answers that his response surprised her.

"Of course. It can't hurt to try." He called another waiter over.

"Yes, sir?"
"The lady here would like to enter your contest."

"That's fantastic! But, unfortunately, she cannot enter on her own. You see, this is a couple challenge."

"Okay then we'll both enter together." Riku said without hesitation.

"Alright then. The burger should be ready in about twenty minutes."

"Thank you."

Haruhi was staring at Riku in shock.

His smile fell. "What?"
"You just entered the contest with me."

"Oh that. I thought I had done something wrong." He ate the last bite of his pancake. It was as soaked in syrup as the rest of the stack had been.

"Are you sure you can do it?"

Riku nodded, gulping his food down. "The real question is," he pointed at Haruhi with his syrupy fork. "Are you sure YOU can do it? You haven't even finished your meal."
Haruhi looked down at her plate then back at him. "I'm saving my appetite from now until the burger comes."

He drank his juice until there was nothing left in the glass. "Do you eat alot usually? It's going to be hard to finish in time otherwise."
Haruhi smiled. Riku thought it came across as coy although that probably wasn't her intention. "I once ate about three dozen crab legs in one sitting."

He clapped enthusiastically. "We've totally got this challenge covered."

Tamaki and Hikaru were bored out of their minds. Did these girls ever stop talking?

"So," The girls stopped talking at the sound of HIkaru's voice. "Not to be rude or anything but who's this guy?"

The girls giggled. "Oh! Sorry, we almost forgot about him."

The cousin, who was chewing so disgustingly loud on her gum that Tamaki had accidentally tuned out when she said her name, spoke up. "He's our husband." They smiled broadly, as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

"Our-" Hikaru began.

"Husband?" Tamaki concluded.

They looked at each other. The two didn't have to be twins to understand what they both wanted to do.

"Excuse us for a minute." Tamaki said, already standing up.

Hikaru followed suit, pulling out his phone.

"Block them," Tamaki hissed quietly.

"What do you think I have my phone out for?"

Hikaru followed Tamaki through the cafe. "Where are we going?"
"To the lounge. They can't see us leave!" Tamaki answered.

HIkaru put his phone away. "Well we can't stay either."

"Look, when we get inside we'll tell the guy at the entrance of the lounge to make sure to notify us if somebody asks."

Hikaru rolled his eyes but followed Tamaki.

Riku's mouth fell open as he saw the approaching burger.

Haruhi turned. It took four waiters to hold the giant thing. One was at each corner. The waiters placed it on their 5 by 5 table table. It just barely fit.

"This is the hamburger." He motioned for two other waiters to bring the rest of the meal. "These are the fries." An assistant reached under the table to pull out an extension. It elongated The already big table. The bowl piled high with deep fried potato slices was placed on it. "We have ketchup, barbecue and other condiments available. This is your drink." A pot filled to the brim with dark soda was placed besides the fries.

"You have sixty minutes to finish all of this. Any questions before we start?"

"What happens if we don't finish?" Haruhi asked, realizing it was quite possible they would not.

"You pay for everything you ate, of course." The waiter replied.

"And how much is that?" Riku asked.

"About seventeen thousand yen."

Riku felt Haruhi was unsure about taking the risk but excited to try. From what Haruhi could see Riku was all for it, regardless of the price to fail.

"Shall we begin?" The waiter asked.

Riku looked at Haruhi again for confirmation. After a short pause she nodded. "Yes."

The timer started and the two were left to dig in.

Half an hour later Hikaru and Tamaki were still sitting in the lounge. Neither could believe their date had gone so horribly.

Hikaru glumly stared at the menu. "I can't believe they're married."
"And to the same guy." Tamaki mirrored Hikaru's expression. "Is that even legal?"
Hikaru shrugged.

Tamaki sighed. "On the bright side they can't possibly expect a second date. I don't think I can stand that chewing anymore." He shuddered.

Hikaru looked at the door. "You think we can leave yet?"

"I don't know. Maybe we should peek."

The two stood up. They slightly poked their head out from behind the entrance's frame.

"They're still here?" Hikaru exclaimed.

Tamaki trudged back to his seat, flopping down onto it. "Maybe we should just leave."
"You think? I've ordered like three drinks already."
"Fine. We'll just walk out with another customer. They won't suspect anything."

"As long as we get out of here. I'm so bored!"

Twenty minutes passed by and it seemed like nobody was budging from their seats. Tamaki nervously tried to calm HIkaru. "I'm sure someone will leave soon."

"Whatever. I'm going to the bathroom." Hikaru stretched and yawned. He walked towards the fish tank at the center of the room. As he walked past it he heard whispers. People were making bets for some reason. About four waiters were crowded around one table and people were trying to peek. He walked towards the commotion. Maybe it would rid him of his boredom. His eyes widened when he took in the scene before him. He quickly walked back to the table. "Tamaki…" He lightly shook his friend's shoulder.

"What's wrong?" Tamaki asked with alarm.

"You have to see this."

Tamaki stood up cautiously. He never knew when something was a trick. Hikaru practically pulled the blonde to the crowd. "Please tell me you're seeing what I'm seeing."

Tamaki reluctantly followed HIkaru's gaze. His brows furrowed. "Is that…No. There are so many people around we're probably just imagining it." Tamaki chuckled.

"You're right." Hikaru said with relief. "Haruhi would never do something like that."

The timer the waiter was holding rang loudly. "Alright contestants please swallow the last of the food in your mouth and hold your hands up." The two did as instructed as the waiters looked over the plate, pot and bowl. They each gave a signal to the waiter holding the timer. "I see...Well it seems that you have made it!" The waiters clapped excitedly. The crowd that was watching clapped too. The waiters cleaned up and the crowd dispersed. "I'll be right back with a camera and your vouchers." Riku and Haruhi high fived happily. When the way was clear Hikaru and Tamaki were rendered speechless for the second time that day. "It is-"
"Haruhi."

Haruhi looked up when she heard her name. "Oh, hey guys." She waved.

"Haruhi, what are you doing here?"

"I was eating."

"In a food contest?!" Hikaru asked. He obviously had little restraint on his incredulity.

"Um, yeah," she answered awkwardly. In less than a second she was giddy again. A waitress had arrived with their vouchers.

"Here you go!" She said, handing them each a thick piece of beige cardstock that resembled a check. "Do you mind if we take your picture? You're the first to complete the challenge."
Riku stood up immediately. He was already posing for the camera when Haruhi walked over to him. Haruhi smiled, presenting her voucher to the camera.

"Aren't you a couple? Why not take a picture closer together?"

"Actually-"

"You're not?" The waitress lowered the camera with a serious expression. "You two know this is a couples only contest right?"

"Of course!" Riku exclaimed. He slung an arm around Haruhi's shoulder, pulling her closer. Hikaru turned red, clenching and unclenching his fists rapidly. Tamaki put a hand to Hikaru's chest even though he also kind of wanted to punch the guy.

"My girlfriend was just going to explain some legalities. You know lawyers." Riku chuckled. The waitress smiled, aiming the camera at them again. "Alright then. Smile!" When that was settled the waitress resumed her normal duties.

Haruhi blinked rapidly. The flash of the camera always made her see colored spots.

Hikaru and Tamaki walked up to her.

"So you were participating in that contest?" Tamaki said. He didn't want to ask about the guy too soon.

Hikaru, however, was more direct than any other host member. "Who's the dude?"

"Please excuse my manners." Riku extended a hand. "I am Riku Kobayashi."

Hikaru shook his hand with nothing less than suspicion. The guy was obviously rich and Japanese but he knew for a fact he never attended Ouran. He seemed to be older than him by one or two years which meant he would have been in his second or third year when Hikaru was a first year. Besides all that, he had charisma and as awful as it was to admit it, he was handsome too. Kyoya and Tamaki wouldn't have missed him when recruiting for the club. "Hikaru Hitachiin."

Tamaki smiled politely. "Tamaki Suoh."

Riku nodded as realization dawned on him. "It's a pleasure to meet you both."

A finally recovered Haruhi spoke up. " is an um…" She looked at him quizzically. What could she call him? "Acquaintance." She concluded that was about right.

Riku looked struck.

Hikaru smirked, nudging Tamaki. "Remember when she pulled that one on you?"

Tamaki glared at him before turning back to Haruhi and Riku. "So, you guys beat the timer, huh."

"Yeah. It was really fun right Haruhi? Did you know she's always wanted to do something like that?"

"Really?" An inkling of a hurt expression formed on both Tamaki's and Hikaru's face. "You never told us that."

"You never asked." She replied calmly. "What time is it by the way?"

Riku looked at his watch. "Eleven."

"Crap," she muttered under her breath. "Sorry guys. I have to get going." She began to gather her belongings. It seemed like the best possible feeling when she won that voucher but that food would catch up to her soon and she wanted to he home when it did. She glanced at the television hanging on the corner farthest from them. She heard a familiar surname that definitely shouldn't have been announced on a gossip program.

"How are you getting home?" Hikaru asked.

"It's only a fifteen minute walk." She replied blankly, looking away from the television. She was glad neither of the former hosts had heard what she had. She was beyond glad they hadn't looked at the screen behind them.

"You're going to walk?" He said with repulsion. "Where's your car?"

She gave him a dirty look, already walking towards the regular cafe section. Her mood was sour. Not even free meals would cheer her up. More than ever, she wanted to go home. "I wanted to walk this morning so I left it at home."

"I can drive you!" Tamaki and Riku offered at the same time.

"It's faster that way." Tamaki explained.

"No thanks. I can walk." Haruhi said without hesitation. She wanted to walk off at least some of her gigantic meal. 'And if I choose one over the other that could cause unnecessary problems for me.'

"I can walk with you then." All three offered simultaneously. They fought the urge to glare at one another. At this point they were already on the sidewalk. For such a small girl Haruhi walked quickly. She stopped abruptly, causing a crash of bodies behind her. She turned around. "What about your cars?"

"I can pick it up later." Tamaki said.

Hikaru shrugged. "I came with Tamaki."

"I walked here too but my house is about five minutes away."

"You wanted to take her to your house?!" Hikaru exclaimed with pure accusation.

"It's an apartment." Riku reminded him "And she would have gone to the parking complex in the building not into my home."

"Neither of you lives near here so you can't leave your cars behind. It's double the work." Haruhi said to Hikaru and Tamaki.

"And , I appreciate your offer but I can walk home. It saves time and gas."

"But Haruhi you can't walk home alone!" Hikaru insisted.

Haruhi resumed her walk.

"Wait!" Hikaru said. "Okay, we'll stop arguing and walk you together."

"No." Haruhi said directly. "I have work in an hour and I still have a couple of errands to run. No offense but I know you," she looked at Hikaru. "won't let me concentrate." She looked at Tamaki " And you might let me concentrate at home but I know you're curious enough to make me show you around while I am running errands." Neither protested because it had definitely happened many times before.

"Fine." Hikaru crossed his arms. "Let's compromise. Choose one of us to walk you home."

Haruhi gave him the stink eye. "If I choose one of you, you have to leave me be and accept my decision."

"But-"

"Take it or leave it." She said with finality.

"Deal." He replied reluctantly.

"Good. If your offer still stands I would like to take it, ." She said.

"He doesn't count!" Hikaru protested.

Riku's face lit up. "Of course. Let's go so you can get to work on time."

Hikaru lunged after them but Tamaki held him back. "Let them go Hikaru. We all have a right to move on."

Hikaru stared at him, aghast. "You don't think…"

"I don't know but it's none of our business unless she consults us."

"Are you serious right now Tamaki?"

"Completely." Tamaki shoved his hands into his pockets and walked to his car. "If you don't come with me now I'll leave you here." He said.

Hikaru turned from Tamaki to the corner. Haruhi and that guy (he purposely disregarded the name) were already out of sight.

'This is so unfair. Haruhi is OURS.' He thought to himself as he followed Tamaki.

The car ride was silent as they made their way to Tamaki's house.

As soon as Haruhi and Riku were out of sight Haruhi stopped and turned to Riku. "Listen, I don't really want you to walk me home. I only said that to get them off my back."
Riku nearly choked in surprise at her statement.

"Sorry," Haruhi apologized. "I'm just not in the mood for company." She thought back to the television screen.

"It's okay," Riku assured her. "Your bluntness just took me by surprise."
"Oh," Haruhi laughed. "Yeah sorry it's a blessing and a curse. It was fun eating with you though."

"I never thought I would enter a contest like that but now I have a voucher for free food so ha!" He waved his coupon happily.

Haruhi smiled. "Thank you for helping me out too. I'll see you around then." Haruhi began to walk away.

"Sure." Riku smile fell as his expression became serious. Before he could think about it he blurted out, "Don't let what you saw on the television bring you down."

"What?' Haruhi turned stopped with genuine surprise.

"I don't know what it was that ruined your mood but I'm sure it wasn't true. Those gossip shows rarely get anything right."
"Yeah," Haruhi agreed. "I guess so. Thank you once again," she said.

After some awkward shuffling around in Tamaki's living room Hikaru spoke. "Sorry the date was terrible. Um, thank you…" He quickly walked out.

Tamaki shook his head at the twin's awkward apology and gratitude. Why was it still so difficult for him to admit anything?

Tamaki walked to his bedroom without much enthusiasm. "Today sucke," he sighed loudly. He grabbed his tv remote and sat down on his bed. "I wonder if there's a drama on." He clicked through the channels, settling on his favorite network.

'Breaking news!' The commercial blared. Tamaki looked around his room for something to do.

"...Ootori," the announcer exclaimed.

Tamaki's gaze shot back to the television instantly.

'And more at six today!'

"Ootori?" His brows furrowed. "Why are they talking about them on a gossip channel?"

Yoshi had his hands crossed in front of him. His figure looked menacing against the bright window. It was impossible to read his face but Kyoya knew that stance could only mean one thing.

"Explain to me why this has resurfaced." Yoshio's voice was terribly calm. Kyoya

didn't flinch but he did play dumb. That inkling of a suspicion couldn't have been correct. What did surprise him was that Yoshio said 'resurfaced'. He remained silent. In situations like these Kyoya knew Yoshio didn't truly want an answer. Excuses were unacceptable and not worth hearing.

Yoshio continued.

"You've disappointed me Kyoya. What the hell is running through your head?! I took care of it last time. Fix it now!" Without another word Kyoya bowed and exited. It was what his father wanted him to do. It was what Kyoya had to do.

He quickly walked out of the office already dialing a number.

Tamaki watched the screen intently. He had been waiting all day for the gossip program to air.

"Could it be that third Ootori son has resumed his affair?"

"Well I wouldn't call it an affair anymore since he is a recent divorcee."

"That's right! But could this have been the reason for his divorce?"

"I don't know but let's take a look at the timeline."

The hosts shrunk into a small box at the corner of the television while short, choppy clips played.

Tamaki groaned. "This cannot be happening again." He jumped out of bed, mentally preparing his plan of action. The television was blaring but Tamaki was no longer paying attention to it. He had seen those clips before.

Before he could reach his cellphone his text message app was blowing up.

"BOSS"

"HE IS A FREAKING, WORTHLESS PIECE OF…"

"HARU-CHAN CANNOT SEE THIS!"

"ANSWER US!"

Tamaki quickly typed. "Same as before. Report in two hours."

He clenched his fists, breathing deeply before exiting his room.

The staff watched in surprised and a bit of fear as their usually cheerful employer angrily and loudly shut every door he left behind on his way out of the house and into his car.
