Thank you for reading and keeping up with this story! 3

Harhui placed the golden flower brooch at the base of the small rubber band holding her hair back. She studied her outfit in the mirror, making sure it was put on correctly. She was wearing a blue kimono with small, golden, designs at the edges of the skirt. If you looked closely enough you could see that the small designs were little shellfish. It had been a christmas present from Mori. The flower brooch had been Hana's present. Neither was very much to Haruhi's daily clothing style but the bride and groom had requested that she wear it. She moved a strand of hair away from her face.
There was an hour and a half left until the official ceremony at the shrine but she hurried along anyway. She had half an hour to walk there (although the shrine wasn't very far) and then the coaching would begin.
She opened her door and stepped out, turning around immediately to lock her door. She stopped abruptly when she bumped into somebody wearing a dark suit. She looked up to see Kyoya standing there.
"Why are you here?" Haruhi asked.
"I was invited to the wedding, Haruhi."
"But why are you in front of my room?"
"I heard a crash and wanted to make sure everything was okay. To be clear I had no idea that was your room, Haruhi."
Haruhi thought back to accidentally knocking a vase down with the broom. Why did she have such a knack for knocking down vases?
"You're wearing a kimono."
"And you're wearing a suit." Haruhi began to walk towards the elevator. She would have taken the stairs if she wasn't on the seventh floor. Kyoya followed behind her. "I'm guessing Mori senpai asked you to?"
"Yes. And based on the color of our outfits, they bought these before our divorce."
Haruhi looked at herself then at him. He was right - they were both wearing navy blue. She had small, golden designs and he had a golden handkerchief. She stopped when she saw the next person that stepped out into the hallway. He was also wearing navy blue. 'This is some sick joke,' she thought to herself.
"The entire host club is wearing navy blue." Kyoya said after seeing her expression
She breathed a sigh of relief. It would have been terrible if she had been forced to match with both of them. Maybe she was reading too much into it but if that was the case then it would have been some seriously bad symbolism. "Thank goodness."
Tamaki turned around at the sound of their voices. "Kyoya, you're on the same floor as me."
"The twins should be on this floor too but they have most likely gone to the shrine already."
"Of course, those two love to admire the decorations." Haruhi said, unable to stop herself from keeping the conversation going. It terrified her that their mundane conversations happened so easily,
Tamaki glanced at Haruhi and nodded at her. "Good morning ."
Haruhi paused, her heart skipping a beat. She didn't think he would acknowledge her. Somehow his formality hurt more than the thought of him ignoring her. " ," she acknowledged in return.
The three stepped onto the elevator.
"So is the lovely couple on good terms again? You two seemed to be having a nice conversation. Sorry for cutting in by the way." Tamaki stared at the elevator's wall while he talked.
"You didn't interrupt anything at all Tamaki. In fact, I believe I am the one who shouldn't have delayed the pending conversation between you two." Kyoya said as pleasantly as possible. Haruhi hated that he caught on so quickly.
"Not at all. and I hardly know each other."
"That is surprising. As far as I know you two were on very good terms some time ago."
"Yes well fortunately times have changed."
Haruhi listened to their tense conversation, becoming more irritated with each light jab and implication.
"Will you two set the date soon?"
"Not if there is a reconciliation in the works." The two looked at each other with the fakest smiles Haruhi had ever seen (and she had been in a host club).
"Can you guys stop?" She said as the elevator dinged, signaling that they had arrived at the lobby. She was glad that no other guest seemed to be mingling around. "It's Mori senpai's wedding day and we can't ruin it with this pointless arguing. Let's just forget everything that has happened and pretend we're friends, okay?"
"Which type of friends? Ones that can see each other naked when one is married?" Kyoya asked with faux interest.
"Or friends that just got divorced?" Tamaki rebutted.
"Stop it!" She shouted at them, turning around to stare daggers at them. "Can we just all agree that today is not about us! It's about Mori senpai which means we absolutely can't fight or give him any reason to worry!" Haruhi's face had turned red from the effort of shouting at the two men. People around shot her dirty looks but Haruhi was done with her mini sermon so she cast them apologetic glances.
"Mori senpai deserves that we at the very least stay on our best behavior." Tamaki agreed.
"So do you propose we just ignore each other the whole time?" Kyoya asked, his tone fully implying that the idea was absurd.
"No," Haruhi responded. "But at the very least we have to be genuinely polite."
"Wasn't our conversation just now polite?"
"Not by a long shot," Haruhi deadpanned. "I'm going to pretend everything is fine between us today. You two should have enough common sense to do the same."
They all looked at each other with vexation but silently agreed that Mori deserved more than fake politeness from them.
At the shrine, both families were already there. The couple was absolutely stunning, their beings emanated pure happiness. The hosts, the families, and the couple sat through the brief training before the ceremony began.
Mori had said the shrine ceremony would be small, as is traditional, but Haruhi didn't know if that meant "small" by wealthy people standards or "small" as in regular people's standards. While she was there, Honey explained that the families would have liked more people to visit the shrine with them but the priest was strict and against too many people being there at once. An exception had been made for the hosts and for some of Hana's friends to be there. After an hour of training and a long, beautiful ceremony, the group exited the shrine and traveled to the garden where the reception would be held. Haruhi silently wiped away her tears as they walked to the reception garden. She was crying happily for once because she knew that one of her most respected friends had found his match. It was a beautiful ceremony with an even more beautiful couple. The ever stoic Takashi Morinozuka's eyes shone as bright as his wife's.
At the garden, Hana changed into her second outfit of the day and the formal festivities began. The crowd mingled for a bit before their attention was called to sit for their dinner to begin. Haruhi looked for her seat, not the least bit surprised that all the hosts except for Honey and Mori were seated at the same table. The table was round, as were the rest. It was close to the groom and bride's central table but still farther than the families' table. Of course, Honey was seated at the Morinozuka family's table. Haruhi looked for her name plate and sighed when she saw the ones beside hers. Kyoya Ootori on her right and Tamaki Suoh on her left. The world just couldn't give her a break. She sat down, careful not to tear or wrinkle her kimono. The twins were the next to sit down. They grinned at her, nodding in appreciation of her kimono. Their mother had designed it, after all.
"Who's your date this evening, Haruhi?" Hikaru asked as Tamaki sat down next to Haruhi.
"Yeah we're all single," Kaoru played along with his brother's teasing. "Why not choose one of us for tonight."
"I don't need a date." Haruhi answered flatly.
Kyoya was last to sit down.
Hikaru continued. "So who is it?"
The group turned when they heard Honey speak into the microphone. "The groom and bride would like to begin by hearing the words of their closest family and friends."
The Morinozuka and Furukawa family took turns going onto the stage, where the central table was placed, and offered speeches to the newlyweds.
Finally it was time for their closest friends to go up, beginning with Honey.
"Well," Honey looked at Mori. "I have known Takashi since the day he was born. I don't remember his first steps but I do remember his first tournament." Honey's eyes had visibly filled up with tears. "Takashi, you have grown up so well." He turned away from the crowd to wipe his tears and continued. "Anyway, in the style of Takashi Morinozuka, my best, most respected and closest friend, I will end my speech here. He knows what I mean." Honey smiled and walked back to his seat. The crowd sighed and awed.
The hosts took turns going up to the stage and talking about Mori. By the end of their speeches the guests were moved but ready to eat.
Chatter and liveliness filled the garden as everybody enjoyed the food and celebration. After finishing their own meal, Mori and Hana walked to each table to thank their guests.
The hosts watched happily as Mori smiled and laughed. It was a refreshing sight but no doubt an indicator of his lack of sleep the previous night.
"Wait a minute," Hikaru said, turning to Haruhi. "You haven't answered my question. Who's your date?"
Haruhi rolled her eyes. "Is this necessary?"
"Of course. We're all friends here," Hikaru grinned.
"You are such a …" Haruhi's muttering trailed off as she looked from one twin to another. Kyoya and Tamaki were definitely not an option so which of the twins would cause the least amount of trouble? "I don't have a date but if I had to choose, it would be Kaoru."
"I'm flattered." Kaoru said. "And I must say that I would choose you too."
"I'm not even surprised," Hikaru replied, crossing his arms. "But you two better not date."
Both Haruhi and Kaoru burst out laughing.
"Gosh Hikaru it's like you don't even know me. Why would I date Haruhi?"
"And I am done with dating." Haruhi said before realizing who she was sitting next to.
She stared at her plate of food nonchalantly, as if the two men next to her weren't staring at her with such intensity.
"Hey, Mori senpai!" Hikaru exclaimed as the couple approached their table.
The hosts all stood up to hug Mori as they each congratulated him.
"Thank you," Mori said. They all talked for a bit before the couple excused themselves to greet the next guests.
"I'm so happy Mori senpai found his match. Who would have thought he would marry his opposite?" Hikaru said. He stuffed some more of his food in his mouth, seemingly pensive all of a sudden.
Tamaki nodded in agreement. "It's so nice to see Mori senpai so joyful. I heard they're going on a safari expedition for their honeymoon."
"Of course they are. It's so like them to do that."
A couple hours later most of the guests had taken their leave. After saying goodbye to all of their elders and family members, Mori and Hana left too. Hana encouraged everyone to continue enjoying the party even if they could no longer be there (unfortunately their expedition began early in the morning so they had to leave that night). She also hinted at a possible surprise from one of their guests and urged everyone to help themselves when it arrived.
Renge bounced over to the table. "Hey guys!" She waved at them happily.
"Renge? How long have you been here?" Hikaru asked, not believing that Renge had managed to stay quiet enough to not be noticed by them.
"I've been here the whole time. I wouldn't miss the wedding for anything!"
She pushed Tamaki's chair to the side and dragged a chair over for herself. "I was just seated at another table. No offense you guys but I want to meet new people." She looked around the room. "Anyway, I came over to say hello and enjoy the party! I mean it's just beginning now that all the old people are gone."
"Renge!" Haruhi hushed her, making sure nobody had overheard. To her relief, everybody was minding their own business.
"Haruhi, calling someone old or elderly doesn't change their age." Renge said dramatically. "As I was saying, now that all the ol- elderly- people have moved on to their own second reception, we can enjoy ours!" She turned to the door expectantly. Not a second later, a group of men walked in carrying package after package. Renge sprung up, clapping eagerly. "Yay! My present to the lovely couple has arrived right on time!"
The entirety of what was left of the party (aka the younger but not super young guests) stared in confusion as the men began to set up shop in a corner of the garden.
"Attention everybody! Per the approval of our just married couple, I urge you all to enjoy the refreshments provided by this lovely and conveniently mobile bar!"
She took a bottle of beer in each hand and held them up as if they were trophies. "Party time!"
A long silence ensued until the clapping of a brave soul shattered the state of shock that had entranced the guests.
Everybody followed the clapping and soon people were getting drinks. Proud of her accomplishment, Renge skipped back to the table. "C'mon Haruhi, we're both single so let's go mingle!"
Haruhi grimaced and shook her head. "No thanks Renge. I think I'll just head home."
"Nonsense!" Renge took Haruhi's arm and marched over to the bartender's corner. She sat down, urging Haruhi to sit down across from her. Haruhi sighed and sat down.
"What would you ladies like?"
"One long island iced tea please," Renge responded immediately.
Renge and the bartender looked at Haruhi expectantly.
"Just water, please." Haruhi said.
Renge groaned and rolled her eyes. "Live a little!" She looked at the bartender. "Make that two long island iced teas, please." The bartender nodded and walked away to make the drinks.
"Haruhi, I know you prefer to be reserved and quiet but life is too short to be so timid!"
"Renge, you know I'm not much of a party person. Besides, I had a long day yesterday and I'm not up for partying."
"No, no, no! You've got it all wrong! It's because you had a long day that you should party! Or fine," Renge acquiesced. "Don't party but at least loosen up a little, dance a bit, drink-"
"I can agree to dancing but not drinking."
"Just one drink."
"Water."
"I already ordered the iced teas."
"If I drink it will you leave me alone?"
"If you drink it and dance with at least one guy."
"I drink it and I get to go home. Mori senpai isn't here anymore anyway and I only came to support him."
"Fine." Renge said. "But seriously you need to loosen up. I mean look," she pointed to the now empty table that Haruhi had been seated at. "Everybody is mingling. Hikaru is talking to that girl." Hikaru was laughing, a drink in his hand as he chatted away with a tall brunette.
"And Kaoru is dancing." Renge tilted her head, slightly confused by the image before her. Kaoru seemed to be spasming but she was pretty sure he was okay because he was still standing and smiling. "Well, he's dancing by himself and totally out of tune with the song but he's dancing."
"He's drunk."
"A dancing drunk is still a dancing person. Oh, and see? Even that phony prince is dancing!" Haruhi followed Renge's faze to see Tamaki slow dancing with a woman in a red dress. She looked back at Renge. "Why should what they're doing influence me to do the same?"
Renge looked at the sky in a 'why can't she understand?' manner and continued. "I didn't want to tell you but it looks like I have no choice but to bring you into the harsh reality of the world. Look behind you."
Haruhi turned reluctantly, certain that whatever it was that Renge had to show her wouldn't convince her.
She was wrong. Sitting behind her was a pretty dark blonde woman in a black dress. Kyoya was smiling at her as they clinked their drinks together.
Kyoya's glasses cleared, revealing that he had seen Haruhi. Their eyes met for a brief second before Haruhi turned back to Renge. "I would have preferred to avoid that image."
"I'm sorry! But if the reason that you're not allowing yourself to meet other men is that you're still hung over Kyoya then you needed to see that he has no problem meeting other women. As your best friend I had to make you see that."
Haruhi looked down at her lap. The bartender set their drinks on the table. "Two long island iced teas for two lovely ladies."
Renge nudged Haruhi to look handed her a glass of a brownish liquid with ice in it. "I'm sorry if that was the wrong move and I'm sorry for pressuring you into doing things but I really think it's the best way to get the ball rolling. Anyway, if you want to drink this and go then I won't try to convince you to do more."
"Thank you." Haruhi took the drink. She sniffed it cautiously. It smelled like pure alcohol. "How much alcohol is in this?"
"I don't know but I can usually chug it down with no problem," Renge assured her.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course," Renge said, staring at somebody across the room.
Haruhi took a sip. It wasn't a bad taste. It was as if someone had poured lemon and orange juice into cola. She examined the size of the cup. It wasn't too much either. And Renge had said it wasn't too much alcohol but then again Renge's judgement of alcohol intake was different from Haruhi's.
"Excuse me," she asked the bartender. "How much alcohol is in this?"
"Oh my goodness Haruhi just trust me! Please?"
"Are you sure this isn't too strong?"
"Positive. I mean-"
"Hello," A lean, dark haired man approached them. "Would you like to dance?" He asked Renge.
Renge pretended to think about it. In that instant Haruhi was certain that he was the person Renge had been staring at a while ago.
"Of course," Renge said, smiling at him.
When they were well off onto the dance floor Haruhi looked at her drink again. Renge was right about loosening up a bit. One drink couldn't hurt. Then again, Haruhi was a terrible drinker.
"Would you like to dance?" She heard Kyoya say from behind her. Haruhi got the familiar butterflies in her stomach. Were they out of surprise or fear? They couldn't be indicators of love because she was sure she would never get rid of the disgust, hatred and resentment he had caused.
Haruhi fought her urge to turn around. He wasn't talking to her, was he?
"Yes, I am talking to you."
Haruhi turned around reluctantly. Kyoya was standing as cool as always. "I repeat, would you like to dance?"
She looked at him, then at her drink. "No, I'm good." She turned back around.
Kyoya walked around to stand in front of her again. "I tried to be nice Haruhi. I see that you refuse to do the same."
"And I will continue to do so. Mori senpai is gone so don't bother pretending."
"Can we please just talk? I just want to-"
"I'm sorry to interrupt but would you like to dance?"
Haruhi turned to see a man holding his hand out to her. Haruhi smiled at him and nodded but before she stood up she chugged down the drink. It was best to just get it over with.
Kyoya grabbed her hand as she stood up. "Haruhi, I'm serious. If we don't talk soon I might not get the chance to do it."
"You mean you don't have time to talk to me? What a surprise."
Haruhi sat on a chair, fanning herself off. She had danced much more than intended and even had another drink. Tamaki walked up to her and sat down on a chair beside her. Based on the red in his face, he was more than a little tipsy. "Haruhi." He burped.
Haruhi waved away the smell of alcohol. "I'm calling you a cab." She muttered, pulling out her phone.
Tamaki shook his head. "You're so stubborn!"
"So I've been told." Haruhi massaged her temples. Her phone was dead. She ordered another drink. They were surprisingly refreshing although that could have been the alcohol she had already drunk talking.
"But you are!" Tamaki wiped his forehead from the dampness that had gathered due to his dancing with various ladies. "I I have given you." he pointed at her dramatically. "You have- no I have given you so many things. And supported you for so, so, so, so, so, soooo long."
"So you're throwing that back at me?" Haruhi asked, more than just a tad irritated. Arguing with the drunk man was probably not smart and a waste of time but she couldn't help it.
"Yes! Well, no! I- I love you Haruhi. I want the best for you. But you are so mean!"
Haruhi sighed, drinking what was left in her cup. It was a bad decision and she knew it but maybe she could make things disappear for one night. "Talk to me when you're sober alright?"
"I'm never talking to you again!" Tamaki said, staggering off to another table.
Two drinks later, Haruhi found herself walking around what she assumed was an unused part of the garden. She giggled when she tripped on a rock. Silly rock! If it stayed on the path like that it would get hurt by humans!
"Hey!"
Haruhi's eyes widened as she tried to get a better look at the rock. "Are you talking to me, rock?"
She jumped when somebody tapped her shoulder. Instead of jumping away from the person she knocked her head against theirs.
"Shi-" The person stopped, rubbing their nose gently. He stared at her as if she was the most beautiful creature on earth.
Haruhi sat on the ground giggling, causing the person she had bumped into to do the same.
"Are you okay?" His words were as slurred as hers.
"Perfect."
"Do you need help?"
"The handsome man wants to help me?" She asked herself out loud.
"Wait a minute, do you know who I am?" He squatted down next to her with wide eyes.
Haruhi stared at him intensely before nodding. "Yes, you are a handsome stranger that has come here to rescue me!" She threw her hands up in a motion that indicated she expected him to help her get up.
He started at her, confused. "What?"
"Up!" She explained.
He shakily attempted to stand up only to fall down. The world spun around him but he finally managed to focus on her. "I can't get up."
"I want to get up!"
"Let's get up...together?"
"To- get- togeth- toget- ter?" Haruhi sounded the word out.
"Together" he repeated.
"Together," Haruhi said.
"On three. 1..5...4...ummm 3!"
They both stood up carefully and did not manage to stay up straight but they were up which was enough for them.
"I," Haruhi began. "Am going home!"
Me too!" The "handsome man" exclaimed. They laughed, catching the attention of a passerby from the party. The man stopped, looking at them with curiosity. "You two seem familiar? Were you at the wedding?"
"Wedding? Oh I love weddings!" Haruhi clapped, delightedly.
"Yes...between a morinozuka and furukawa?"
"Morinozuka… Oh Mori senpai! Yes Mori senpai! He's so nice! Did you know he just got married? But i can't recall when…" Haurhi sighed, thoughtfully.
The man smiled. These two were obviously way too drunk to go anywhere alone. Since they were guests, as he was, he decided he should do his good dead of the day and take them back to the hotel. "What are your names? I can give you two a ride if you would like."
"My name is… its… hmmm.. Right, right. I am Ootori...Kyoya? Kyoya Ootori. And this is Haruhi." He pointed at Haruhi.
"A ride where?" Haruhi asked.
"A ride back to your rooms at the hotel."
"Oh yes please! C'mon you handsome man," Haruhi said, taking Kyoya's arm.
The man stood between the two, making sure to lead them to his car carefully.
When he arrived at his car, his wife immediately helped him walk Haruhi over but stared at him questioningly. "Who are they?"
"Based on the colors they're wearing, they're guests of the Morinozukas. They're too drunk to go back on their own and i found them wandering around near the entrance. Is it okay if we drive them home?"
"How do you know where they're staying?"
"From what I heard all of the guests that don't live here are staying at the Ferris Hotel."
"I hope they are. And if not then we will have to see if we can rent them a room."
While they drove to the hotel the couple asked them questions although Kyoya and Haruhi weren't very good at responding.
"So are you two a couple?" The wife asked.
"Yes," Kyoya replied immediately, seeming to be alert for once. "She's the love," He took a deep breath. "...of my life" Kyoya exhaled.
"Have you seen Haruhi?" Hikaru asked Renge. "I saw her drinking a beverage a while ago but I haven't seen her since."
"She was sitting right over there. Maybe she went home."
Hikaru shook his head. "She wouldn't go home without telling us. Did she have any drinks?"
"You just said you saw her with a beverage."
"I mean drinks with alcohol in them! Did she?"
"I may have given her a long island iced tea."
"Are you crazy?"
"Excuse me? I am not crazy!"
"Haruhi is as bad of a drunk as Kaoru!" Hikaru's arm shot out to point at his twin brother. Kaoru was slow dancing and humming along to the song playing. It would have been normal if the song had been a slow song and if Kaoru wasn't dancing with a chair.
"Well it was just one drink!"
"When?"
"I don't know like two hours ago?"
"I saw her drinking less than an hour ago."
"She must've had more than one glass then."
"Renge!"
"Hey! Haruhi is a grown woman! She can choose what she drinks and what she doesn't! Don't blame it on me!"
Hikaru nearly pulled his hair out with frustration. He pulled out his phone to call Haruhi. The call was immediately sent to voicemail.
"She's not answering."
"Hikaru, Haruhi can take care of herself okay? For all we know she did go to the hotel. It isn't very far from here anyway."
"I hope you're right."
"Of course I am!" Renge crossed her arms then uncrossed them. "Maybe I should call her. One more call can't hurt." She dialed Haruhi's number.
"Her phone is off." Hikaru sighed. He would have been more freaked out if it wasn't unusual. Haruhi was always forgetting to keep her phone charged.
"Relax. Haruhi will be fine. Frankly, I don't see what the big deal is."
"She better be because even if we wanted to form a search party everybody is too drunk to actually do anything."
"We can call the police." Renge exclaimed brightly.
"No. The police don't listen to us when we say Haruhi has been kidnapped. Tamaki called so often for so many false alarms that they blocked his number and ignore
reports of Haruhi's kidnappings."
"That idiot."
The nice couple called the doorman over to them and asked him to help take Kyoya and Haruhi inside. Once inside the wife approached the lobbyman while her husband explained to the security guard how they had come to be in that situation.
"Hello, we are guests from the Morinozuka-Furukawa wedding. As you can see my friends are less than capable of finding their rooms on their own so I was wondering if I can figure out where there room are."
"Can I see some identification please?"
"Of course," the wife dug through her purse and found her ID.
"Okay," The lobbyman said, typing into his computer. "Can I have their names please?"
"Sure. Um, Haruhi Fujioka-"
"I found it. It's room 718." He stood up to retrieve the spare keys reserved for his use. "Please return these keys as soon as possible. Do you mind leaving your Identification card with me?"
"Not at all. Thank you very much." The wife turned to her husband, motioning him to go to the elevator. Stairs were definitely not an option.
After triple checking that Kyoya and Haruhi were fine being left on their own, the nice couple left, locking the door behind them.
Haruhi was sitting on the ground, playing with her hair while Kyoya sat in a reclining chair next to her. He seemed to just be staring off into space.
Haruhi slowly began to laugh. Kyoya looked at her, curiously. "What is it?"
"Your back is straight." She giggled. "And you're on a lean back chair!" Her laugh was louder now.
Kyoya huffed. "Well...you are on the ground! And there is a couchy thingy right there." He pointed at the couch she was leaning against.
"I… I want water. Haruhi tried to stand up but ended up back on the ground. She decided the next best thing was to crawl to her kitchen. She slowly crawled and eventually managed to pull herself up. She struggled to find the pitcher of water and a cup so she just turned on the sink and tried to cup some water with her hands. To her dismay, this resulted in little to no water intake. Finally, she turned to Kyoya. "I can't drink water."
"You're wet." Kyoya said, peering curiously at her kimono. "You weren't wet a minute ago...right?"
"Hmm," Haruhi frowned at her kimono. "I should change."
She stumbled into her room. "Change…" She fumbled with her kimono, becoming more frustrated with each passing second. "Agh." She stomped in frustration, causing her to trip and just barely catch herself against the mirror.
Kyoya stumbled in. "Help?"
Haruhi nodded. Kyoya also fumbled with the kimono. It took forever but it was eventually off, leaving Haruhi in her undergarments. Haruhi walked to her bed, snuggling into the sheets. "I'm so tired." She yawned. "But I want more of that tasty, tasty drink."
"Maybe you have some here." Kyoya said. He bumped into either a wall or a piece of furniture as he moved around. At some point his glasses fell off but he paid it no mind as he continued on his search. Finally, he found a bottle of what looked like alcohol. He turned the bottle until the label was facing him. "It's...it's," he laughed. "I can't read!" Happily he took it into the bedroom and sat down next to Haruhi.
He twisted and twisted the cap. Haruhi stared as he tried to open the bottle. Finally, it had been opened. Haruhi clapped and bounced on the bed. "Where are the cups?"
Kyoya looked around even though it was completely in vain. He couldn't see a thing without his glasses anyway...well he could but everything was a blurry mess. He shrugged and took a swig out of the bottle. "Ahh," he said.
Haruhi took the bottle from him and sipped it to taste the drink first. It wasn't bad so she also took a swig. She wiped her mouth with satisfaction. "Hey...why do you have a shirt on?" She was now frowning at Kyoya.
Kyoya looked down, surprised to see he was indeed still wearing a shirt. "Sorry."
Kyoya stood up and began stripping down to his underwear. "It's cold." He reached for his shirt but Haruhi waved until she caught his attention.
"What?" Kyoya hiccupped.
"It's warm under the blanket." Haruhi said, making a show of fluffing up her pillow.
Kyoya followed Haruhi's lead and snuggled up under the blanket. "You're right."
Haruhi took another gulp, resulting in a loud burp. She and Kyoya stared at each other during the length of the silence that followed her loud burp. Then they started laughing.
The laughing brought tears to their eyes which in turn resulted in a sniffling Haruhi. She sat up. Kyoya did the same.
"Why...why are you such a jerk Kyoya!" She smacked his arm.
"Ow!" Kyoya rubbed his arm.
"You're so mean. And heartless and I hate you! This is all your stupid fault!" Haruhi said, wiping her tears with the blanket.
"Well you're mean and… and stubborn and super smart and… and," he looked at her. "I don't hate you but I'm trying to!"
Haruhi continued to wipe her tears. She also had another gulp of the alcohol. "I want to sleep." She fell back onto her pillow. There was another long pause until Haruhi said. "You left me alone when I needed you."
"I'm...sorry," Kyoya said. He laid beside her.
Haruhi turned to him. "I really really hate you. I don't know why I am here." She hiccuped. "But I am tired and cold." She reached for the blanket, pulling it over her head.
Kyoya stared at the ceiling. His mind was completely blank. He startled when he heard a snore from Haruhi. "It is rather cold," Kyoya said to himself.
Haruhi stretched out, slinging an arm across his chest.
Kyoya smiled. "How warm."
As soon as Haruhi woke up she bolted to the restroom and threw up in the toilet. It wasn't something she hadn't experience before but it was something she never thought she would experience again.
She had two thoughts after she had thrown up so much she was sure she would never stop reprimanding herself. The first one was that vomit was incredibly gross. The second one was more of a question. Why was she in her underwear?
As she rinsed her mouth she tried to recall what the heck had happened the previous night.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the person on the bed. She covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming.
"No,no,no,no." She whispered to herself. She walked to the bed quietly. She jumped back when Kyoya turned around.
Kyoya yawned. He slowly opened his eyes. He stared at her for a bit before he smiled and closed his eyes again. Haruhi smacked his arm.
"Ow!" Kyoya jumped up, immediately regretting it. His head was pounding viciously, dots danced around his vision. He looked around as soon as his vision cleared. "You're not a dream," Kyoya said to Haruhi, his gaze fixated on the blanket on his lap.
"Obviously," Haruhi snapped. "Why are you here?"
"It's my room. Why are you here?"
"This is my room." Haruhi said, pointing at her suitcase in the corner.
"So it is." Kyoya said. "I'm guessing we drank a bit too much last night."
"A bit?" Haruhi said. "I just threw up all of last night's food."
"Can I have a cup of coffee?"
"I don't have coffee."
Kyoya rubbed his temples. "I'll get dressed and get out as soon as this headache dies down."
"Great. Until then, we should talk about what happened last night."
"Well I don't remember anything except walking off from the party. Then two people brought us here but that's all I can recall."
"I remember…"Haruhi trailed off. Her face paled. "As much as you do," she finished.
"What aren't you telling me?" Kyoya asked suspiciously.
"I'm not going to repeat what you already said."
"You're hiding something."
"I am not. Since we don't remember what happened you can go."
"I will in a minute. I can't right now."
"Why? Your apartment is across the hall and I'm sure you have coffee."
"Haruhi, my ex wife whom I didn't want to divorce is naked and standing right in front me. We just woke up from sleeping in the same bed. Why do you think I cant get up?"
"I don't-oh." Haruhi's face became red.
"Its nothing I haven't seen before but I'm still not going to look at you."
"Well...it's something I'd rather you never saw again so I'll get dressed quickly" Haruhi put on a shirt and some comfortable pants. "I would appreciate it if you were gone by the time I'm out of the shower." Haruhi said, grabbing her clothing and a towel. After what happened last time, Haruhi was not risking leaving her clothes outside again.
"Thank you for your warm hospitality," Kyoya said finally getting up.
By the time Haruhi was done showering and out of the restroom Kyoya was no longer in the bedroom. She felt like a weight had been lifted. He hadn't asked more about what she remembered.
