Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to Miraculous except this story. Notes: I thought I'd make a little short story about the interactions between Adrien and Marinette during the class trip and stay in New York. I did make some changes to the plot, why? Because it's my fanfic and I can do as I wish lol. Summary: What if Marinette did end up sitting next to Adrien on the plane to New York? What if Marinette convinced Adrien to stay before his dad decided to make him leave? Will their bond grow? Read to find out.
It was just a few minutes past 8 in the evening. Everyone on the plane was fast asleep, all except Marinette that is. Marinette shuffled uncomfortably as her principal slowly started to lean on her, spilling his popcorn on her shirt and pants in the process. She attempted to push him back up into a upright position, but to no avail. She sighed and groaned slightly in frustration. She decided to go to the restroom to wash the popcorn grease off her hands. As she walked down the pathway, she glanced at all her sleeping classmates, especially her best friend leaning on her boyfriend Nino as they snoozed away. She smiled fondly seeing how cute they were together. 'They really are meant for each other' she thought to herself. She next passed by Adrien. No one was sitting in the seats behind him so he was able to recline his seat back. 'Even asleep he's just so perfect' she gave a quiet dreamy sigh. She finally made her way to the restroom and locked the door. The plane suddenly hit a little turbulence, causing a sleepy Marinette to stumble and squeak in surprise.
Adrien stirred in his sleep at the turbulence, slowly opening his eyes hearing Marinette squeal. After leaning up slightly, he saw the restroom door open and a very sleepy looking Marinette exit the door, making her way back up the hallway. Marinette finally reached the row in which her seat is, except now Mr. Damocles was taking up her whole seat. Sighing in frustration, she attempted to wake him up, but again, to no avail. Giving a small sad grown, she gave up and decided to go look out the window at the end of the plane. 'Might as well go enjoy the view if I can't sleep' Making her way once again down the hallway, she didn't bother looking at anyone this time, walking with her eyes half closed. Adrien, still half awake, lied on his side facing towards the hallway. He looked on in curiosity seeing Marinette walking down the hallway once again. 'I wonder why she isn't asleep' he thought to himself as she passed by his row. She finally reached her destination, facing towards the window to see the sunset. Despite feeling sleepy, she couldn't help the small smile that graced her lips seeing the beautiful view. Adrien watched her feeling a sense of warmth envelope his heart which caused him to smile. 'Now's my chance to tell her' he thought to himself as he slowly and quietly climbed out of his seat.
Marinette looked out the window, gazing in awe at the beauty before her. "It's beautiful, isn't it." Adrien spoke from behind her, making Marinette squeak and turn towards him in surprise. Suddenly the plane hit another moment of turbulence, causing Marinette to squeak in surprise and lose her balance, falling against Adrien. He caught her and propped her up with his left leg. Marinette squeaked again, "Sorry" she said as she put her hands on his chest and propped herself up to step back. "Sorry Marinette" Adrien said as he straightened himself up. 'She's so cute' he thought to himself. Marinette giggled slightly as she turned back to face the window. Adrien stepped closer to Marinette to get a better view of the scene outside. Marinette looked out with a dreamy look on her face. "Father told me everything. The only reason I can enjoy this beautiful sunset is you." Marinette turned towards Adrien as he spoke. "I thought it would be impossible but you believed in it. You're always willing to take a chance on something or someone, even when no one else is." Adrien faced towards Marinette with a gleam in his eyes. "You've got something Marinette." Marinette gasped and blushed slightly. "Some..something?" she smiled. "Yeah, there, in your hair." Adrien reached to the top of her head grabbing what appeared to be a piece of paper. Marinette squawked in embarrassment. Adrien smiled, holding back the urge to laugh at her antics. Marinette laughed awkwardly and Marinette being Marinette, moved her arms around in weird poses talking fast explaining why the paper probably ended up in her hair. Near the front of the plane, Nino and Alya talked about their scheme to bring Adrien and Marinette closer together. "Okay then…so um…" Marinette said she turned back towards the window still with a slightly embarrassed look on her face. Adrien followed suit and also turned to face the window again. "Well…What I meant to say was, thanks for managing to convince my father." Adrien said as he turned towards Marinette. Marinette gasped in surprise as he suddenly stepped closer wrapping his arms around her in a warm embrace, leaning his head over her shoulder. A deep blush stained her cheeks as she squeaked in surprise. After the initial shock wore off, she slowly wrapped her arms around him, returning the embrace. Feeling her heart racing in her chest, she breathed softly smelling the scent of his yummy cologne, which smelled like a mix of sandalwood and musk. Adrien, whose heart was also beating a little faster than normal, slowly stepped back, already missing the scent of warm vanilla that is just so Marinette. It actually seemed very familiar to him for some reason…
"You should try to get some sleep. We still have another 5 hours left on the plane ride" Adrien said as he looked into her sleepy eyes, using his right hand to cup her left cheek, rubbing gently under her eye. Marinette blushed deeply at the gentle gesture. "I..I would b..but Mr. Damocles is passed out in my seat. I tried to wake him but he didn't budge. " Marinette said as she glanced down. Adrien smiled sweetly putting his hand on her shoulder. "Well my offer from earlier still stands. You can sleep in my row if you want. My bodyguard moved to the row across from me and Ms. Mendeleiev moved back to the middle section." Marinette's eyes widened at the mere thought of lying so close to the love of her life. 'No no! Get those thoughts out of your head! We're just friends!' she scolded to herself. Her eyes quickly scanned the rows to see if there were any others available, but no such luck. Well there was the row behind him but apparently they were off limits for some reason that the stewardess mentioned after they first boarded. Marinette looked up into Adrien's eyes giving a sweet smile. "Thank you, Adrien." Adrien could swear his heart skipped a beat, the same way it does when Ladybug smiles at him.
Marinette followed behind Adrien to his row, stopping just behind him as he stopped. 'I can't believe I'm about to do this! What if I…' as Marinette went over all the things that could go wrong in her head, Adrien smiled at her gently grabbing her hand guiding her to the middle seat. Adrien sat down in the window seat. Marinette felt her body relax some finally having enough space to sit down again. "If you want I can move the arm rests up and you can recline your seat if that will make you more comfortable ." Adrien said putting his hand on the arm rest between them. "S..Sure, that sounds great." Marinette said shyly as Adrien moved up the arm rest and she reached down to grab the switch to recline her seat. Adrien reclined his seat afterwards. Before leaning back, Marinette decided to remove her hair ties, as she did some nights before going to bed. Adrien watched as her hair brushed slightly passed the top of her shoulders, having forgotten how beautiful she looks with her hair down. 'I should tell her sometime' he thought to himself. Marinette and Adrien both lied back in their seats at the same time, facing towards each other. Adrien swore he could get lost in the depths of those bluebell eyes…wait, again that was so familiar to him. "Are you cold?" he asked as she shivered slightly. "Y..Yeah. I..It must be colder now since the sun is down." Marinette said curling into herself slightly. Adrien smiled sweetly reaching out towards her. "Come here" he said gently grabbing her upper arm pulling her closer. He wrapped his right arm around her waist pulling her as close as he could once again being met with the smell of warm vanilla. God he would never tire of that. He gently guided her head to rest on his chest.
Marinette blushed deeply squeaking as he pulled her closer, not sure if she was going to die of happiness or the shock of him initiating this much contact with her. She was sure he could hear her erratic heartbeat. 'Oh my god. His arm is around my waist and my head is on his chest. If I'm dreaming, please let me never wake up.' "Is that better?" he asked her looking down into her eyes. Marinette was too flustered to speak so she just shyly shook her head yes. Adrien smiled sweetly. "Good." With sleepiness finally overpowering her other feelings, her eyes got heavy and slowly drifted closed. Just as she nodded off, she could swear she felt a hand gently running through her hair and a kiss on the top of her head, but she figured it was just her sleepy mind playing games with her
Adrien couldn't help himself. She just looked so darn cute curled into him. As she drifted off, he gently ran his fingers through her hair, reveling in how soft and silky it was. He turned his face towards the top of her head, feeling his eyes roll into the back of his at the scent of her coffee fruit scented conditioner. Before he realized what he was doing, he gave a tender kiss to the top of her head, whispering "Goodnight Marinette" before drifting off himself.
