Thanks for the comments guys. It really motivates me to keep writing. So Here is chapter one
Chapter 1
June 18th 6:56pm, one year later.
Ferb couldn't believe it, it has been a year. A year of awkward looks, stuttering, and both of them nearly melting into lovestruck puddles. At one point Ferb actually thought he would have to pour them into one of the life-sized moulds that Buford kept of all his friends. Yet both Phineas and Isabella still thought, that the other just thought of them as friends. It was almost as hilarious as it was frustrating, almost. Now it was time for Ferb to make good on his threat, it was time to do something about it. He would still prefer to get them to talk to each other about how they felt, but if all else failed he could just drag Phineas into Isabella's house and say something along the line of, "Phineas likes you Isabella, AND Isabella likes you Phineas." But that was a last resort. He needed an idea. He needed a plan.
Ferb walked into the living room with Phineas and their parents for a movie night, it was their mother Linda's choice tonight and she had chosen a romantic movie in which the two main characters were handcuffed together and only after a series of misunderstandings, did they finally realise their love for each other. Not really caring about the movie Ferb just opted to sit down on the beanbag in the corner so he could think, while Phineas joined their parents on the couch. About halfway through the movie Phineas spoke up.
"This is so cliché, it's obvious they are in love."
"Like you can tell" Ferb said with a snort.
"Hey, I'm pretty good with noticing other people's feelings." Phineas responded, sounding offended. The rest of his family bust into uncontrollable laughter.
How about I handcuff you to Isabella. Just like that a lightbulb appeared above Ferb's head. Oh, you're really going to get it now. Pulling out his phone Ferb sent a quick message to Baljeet.
Ferb: Hey Jeet, I know how we are going to get Phineas and Isabella together. But I'll need to coordinate with the girl's side of things, can you get Ginger to forward me Gretchen's number?
Just then Linda looked at Ferb, confused, she asked. "Lawrence, why is there a lightbulb above Ferb's head?"
"I think he knows what he is going to do tomorrow, hon." Ferb's father added with a smirk.
"Hey, that's my line!" Phineas whined. "What are you planning Ferb?" He added with some suspicion.
Putting his phone away, Ferb just shrugged before turning his attention back to the tv. A short while later Ferb got a message from an unknown number.
Unknown: Hey Ferb, Ginger said you had a plan to get Phineas and Isabella together? she asked if she could forward you my number but since I already had yours, I told her I would just text you. ~Gretchen
Brushing off the fact that Gretchen already had his number, without him having given it to her, Ferb added her to his contacts before replying.
Ferb: Hey Gretchen, Yeah, I've got a plan. But I'm going to need some help with the programming since Phineas usually does that stuff you code right?
Gretchen: Yeah I can code. Might be a bit rusty but I can do it
Ferb: Great. We are going to need Baljeet's help with the maths as well.
Gretchen: What's the plan if I may ask?
Ferb: We're going to cuff them together with electromagnetic handcuffs, programmed to keep them within about two meters of each other. That should force them to talk about it.
Gretchen: Could we make the deactivation voice locked to something? Along the lines of once they have both said "I love you"?
Ferb: That's a good idea. We are going to need to make the cuffs strong enough that they can't force them off.
Gretchen: Yeah, don't want that. Since we are going to need Baljeet's help should we bring the rest of the gang in on this?
Ferb: Might as well, that way nobody unintentionally clues them in, until we're ready.
Gretchen: Shall I just add everyone to a group chat? Excluding Phinabella of course.
Ferb: Go for it. Need anyone's number?
Gretchen: No, I got everyone's numbers when I first got my phone
A minute later Ferb's phone beeped.
Gretchen added you, Baljeet, Buford and six others to Operation Phinabella.
Nice name for the group. Why didn't I think of that? Ferb's thoughts were interrupted by message from a number he didn't have in his phone.
Unknown number: Ok Gretch what's the deal?
Unknown number: Chill Holly, I'm sure Gretchen will explain.
Buford: Before that happens can I know whose number is whose. Only got like three of them in my phone.
After a few minutes of confusion and more trouble around who was who than was really necessary, Ferb went over his plan again. After some further suggestions to the plan the gang hit another snag, they needed at least a day to prepare and couldn't do it at the Flynn/Fletcher house with Phineas and probably Isabella around. Ginger suggested they just build what they needed somewhere else, but Ferb thought that they would need some of the heavier machines that he and Phineas had at their house. Then Milly suggested she could just ask if Isabella wanted to go to the mall, to keep her away, to which the gang agreed. Now they just needed to figure out how to distract Phineas for a day.
"Alright Ferb, I'm headed off to bed now. Please turn out the lights when you come up." Linda said, cutting into Ferb's thoughts. Ferb was at a loss for words, not that he would have said anything if he wasn't. He had completely missed when the movie ended and his brother and father had left, presumably for bed themselves. It was just his mum and him left in the living room. Ferb simply gave his mother a nod of his head.
"Well, unless you need anything Ferb, I'm going to bed."
Wait, maybe his mother could help him get Phineas away from here tomorrow. "Actually, I could use some help mum." Ferb said as his mother started to turn for the doorway. "Do you think you could get Phineas out of the house for the day tomorrow? Anything I can think of will tip him that I'm up to something."
"I have a delivery for the antique store that needs to go to the other side of Danville, I could ask him to do that for me. But why do you want him out of the house?"
"We have something in the works that Phineas and Isabella can't know about."
"What are you up to?" Linda asked with just a hint of suspicion.
"Can I fill you in tomorrow once Phineas has left?"
After just a second's delay Linda agreed. "Ok. But this better be good."
"Actually, you better ask Mrs Garcia-Shapiro to come over for it as well. I'll need to fill her in too."
"Ok. Now I'm really curious."
"I'll fill you both in tomorrow, promise."
"Ok, good night Ferb."
"Night mum."
With a nod Linda left the living room and headed for the stairs. Ferb turned back to the text conversation that hadn't stopped in his absence. Both to let them know that the Phineas problem was sorted and to finalise the plan for the next day. It was past eleven by the time Ferb made his way up to bed. Thankfully Phineas was already asleep so he didn't have to answer any questions about what he had been up to. Ferb would have hated to lie to Phineas. He would have done it for the sake of the plan, but he would have hated every syllable he said. Grabbing his dark purple pyjamas, Ferb headed to the bathroom to get ready for bed. Once he was done changing into his pyjamas, he did his teeth, practiced his language of the day, which was Martian. Throwing his clothes in the wash bin Ferb headed for bed. Only pausing briefly to wipe some motor oil off of his easter island head before he flopped into his bed and went to sleep.
June 19th 7:36am.
Phineas and Ferb entered the kitchen for breakfast. They sat and Phineas started to talk to Ferb about what they could do today, while they ate their breakfast, which was pancakes. This was normal behaviour for the boys. Phineas was saying something about teaching a shark ballet. Linda smiled remembering how shocked she had been, when Candace had dragged her into the backyard on her last day before she left for college. Only for Linda to see a giant robot squirrel dancing to a vaguely familiar tune. Linda had done a fair bit of apologising to Candance after that, and she had set some ground rules for the boys. Not that she could do much but be impressed at her sons' genius. It was only as Phineas gave his signature line, that Linda remembered what Ferb had asked her to do the night before.
"Actually, Phineas I need you to drop off a delivery for the antique store for me. I am afraid it's on the other side of Danville so it'll take most of the day."
"That's ok mom, It's not a problem." Phineas took another bite of his pancakes before adding. "Ferb and I will leave at Eight."
Linda saw Ferb tense, but before he could object, she came to his aid. "I need Ferb's help with something else today."
"Oh, ok." Phineas seemed to deflate a bit at the fact that he would be alone. With his breakfast finished Phineas headed up to the room he shared with Ferb. A minute after Ferb heard the door to their room close, he asked.
"When is Ms Garcia-Shapiro coming over?"
"Around nine. I can't wait for the explanation to this."
"You'll get it, I just don't want to explain it twice." With that Ferb sent a text to the group saying that the house would be free for the day, and to come over at nine-thirty. Then he went to join his step-brother in their room.
June 19th 9:05am.
Vivian Garcia-Shapiro knocked on the door to the Flynn/Fletcher home. Why did Linda ask me to come over here as soon as I was ready? I hope everything is ok. Vivian thought that it was strange that she hadn't been told what was going on. The door opened with barely a sound, somehow Vivian wasn't surprised. There wasn't anything in the house that didn't work perfectly. A consequence of having two geniuses she guessed. She was expecting to see Linda as the door opened, but instead Ferb stood there tall and stoic. "Hola Ferb, my how you've grown. Do you know where your mother is? She asked me to come over, but she didn't tell me why."
"Actually, I kind of asked her to invite you." Ferb said while scratching the back of his neck.
Before Vivian could ask what he meant, a voice called out from the house. "Is that Vivian?"
"Yeah mum."
"Great, I believe you owe us both an explanation" Linda said, as she appeared in the doorway. "Good morning Vivian, come in, I made tea."
"Thank you." Vivian said, stepping through the doorway and slipping off her shoes. Following Linda through to the living room she asked. "What's going on here?"
"You'll have to ask Ferb about that. He asked me to get Phineas out of the house today for some reason. But he hasn't told me why yet." Linda passed Vivian a warm cup of tea before sitting in one of the armchairs. With a smile, Vivian sat on the couch across from her. For a while the two friends sat and talked while sipping their tea. Five minutes later Ferb returned to the living room, neither noticed him however, so both were surprised when he cleared his throat to get their attention. "Um, I suppose you would like an explanation for why I asked you here?"
"Sí, that would be nice." Vivian answered, Linda just nodded.
"Well… you see, we kind of have a plan to get Phineas and Isabella together. And we need your permission at the very least."
"Shouldn't we just trust them to sort out their relationship themselves?" Linda asked.
"When Phineas first told me he liked Isabella, he asked me not to say anything because he is convinced, she doesn't feel the same. But we all know she does. So, I gave him a year to tell her, and that was a year ago."
Vivian and Linda glanced at each other, contemplating the consequences of their actions before saying together. "We're in! What's the plan?"
With a smile, Ferb said "The rest of the gang get here in ten minutes. I'll explain it then."
Thanks for reading. Please review, Just keep the comments clean. Chapter 2 may take some time as i'm yet to start writing it but i'm aiming for the 24th as a release date for it.
