Since missing the letter about Rick's release, I have made it my priority to check my pigeon hole at work every day and today was no different. There were only a couple things in there today but one was a hand written envelope and my stomach dropped, hand written means it is from the prison or from Rick himself. I don't even know if I want to open it but I know I can't ignore it. I hate this; I hate feeling so scared all the time.

I took the letters up to my desk and laid it out in front of me. Everyone was busy and not paying any attention to me and what I was doing, which was good. I slowly opened the envelope but it wasn't a letter that fell out, it was pictures... pictures of me actually.

They were all from different days and me at different places; crime scenes, going into and out of my building, coming and going from work, having breakfast with Adam, speaking with Hailey, sitting in a car with Kev, standing with Voight and Jay... this is crazy, this is actually stalking... crazy stalking.

I gathered up the pictures and went into Voight's office; I closed the door and put the pictures on his desk.

"These were delivered to me here" I stated as he looked them over "He is following me everywhere; he knows where I am all the time. This is beyond insane" I told him "He was outside Molly's the other night, waiting for me. Sarge I don't know how much longer I can take this" I rambled.

"Ok, sit down" He said but I couldn't move "Kim, sit down" He told me sternly and I did as I was told "We're going to get to the bottom of this and we're going to send him back to prison. I've got a copy of his release guidelines; he's not supposed to contact you directly or indirectly and he is to stay two hundred feet away from you and your property" He explained.

"I'm beginning to lose my mind. Every corner I turn, I expect him to be there. I live on the fifteenth floor of my building but when I open my blinds; I'm expecting to see him at the window" I took a deep breath "I don't know how much more of this I can take before I snap" I added, I put my head in my hands and did my best to hold back the tears.

I heard movement and then felt Voight's hand on my back, comforting me. I looked up at him and he gave me a stern look "I'll get him" He promised "You're too distracted here so go home, get some rest and leave him to me" He said.

"Please don't send me home" I begged.

"I can't have you here like this; you're a nervous wreck so just go home" He told me, he wasn't asking me to go home, he was telling me... ok then.

"Ok I'll go" I agreed.

"I'll get Hailey to drive you home and I'll put a patrol in the area of your building" He said.

"No, don't bother Hailey, she's busy. I can drive home... I'll be ok" I promised.

Kim is like a daughter to me and to see her in this much distress hurts me but it's more than that, it angers me. I don't like the thought of her being so scared of a piece of scum like Rick. I've seen Kim take down bigger and badder guys on her own, why is she so scared of this guy? Whatever it is, I don't like it and I am going to put a stop to it right now.

I grabbed my jacket and headed out of my office "Jay, you take the lead, I'm taking an hour to do something" I said as I headed for the stairs.

"Everything ok Sarge? You need some back up?" Adam questioned.

"No, I'm all good" I replied.

I've been looking into Rick since his release to find out where he might be laying his head but he's gone AWOL. He had a place set up in a halfway house but he never turned up and since his release, he hasn't kept any of his parole appointments. There is already a warrant out for him to return to prison.

Looking into Rick has led me to look into his life and the people in his life. His one constant in prison was his parents; they visited twice a week and he wrote to them every week. He was clearly close to them and if anyone knew where he would be hiding out, it's them.

They didn't live that far from the station so it didn't take me long to get there. I noticed a car in the driveway and took note of plates so I could use camera and POD footage to see if Rick has been using it. The street was quiet, it was a nice street in a nice neighbourhood. Maybe that was Rick's problem, he was a spoilt kid who was never told no and then Kim came along and didn't want him, something he wasn't used to.

I knocked on the door and a woman answered.

"Mrs Giles?"

"Yes"

"My name is Sergeant Hank Voight with 21st District. I am looking for your son Rick" I told her, showing her my badge.

"Well he's not here" She said annoyed.

"Can I come in?" I asked.

She thought about it for a moment and nodded.

We went through to the kitchen where I found her husband.

"It's the police, looking for Rick" She told him.

"Why are you people hassling him all the time?" He asked me, in the same annoyed tone as his wife.

"Mr and Mrs Giles, I understand that you want to protect your son but he has gone against multiple rules for his release. There is a warrant out for his arrest and if you know where he is and you're not telling me, you will be arrested and charged as well" I explained.

"We don't know where he is" Mrs Giles answered.

"We haven't seen him since he was released" Mr Giles added.

"Ok, do you know who he would turn to or where he would go to stay off the radar?" I asked.

"No" Mrs Giles shook her head.

"Look, Rick is not a bad person. He made some bad choices but this girl, the one who sent him to prison, he loved her and she lead him on. In court they made him out to be this violent thug and he's not... he was just in love and didn't handle rejection well" Mr Giles said.

"Mr Giles, he broke into her apartment with a knife whilst she was asleep and strangled her" I showed them the pictures of Kim with her marked neck and marked face "That is what your son did to her and now he's stalking her again; he's been in her apartment when she's not there and taken her stuff. He is taking surveillance photos of her and she is scared... as I'm sure you can understand" I explained.

Mr and Mrs Giles were clearly protecting their son but I don't think they really understand the magnitude of what is going on here.

Mrs Giles looked away from the photos of Kim "You need to leave" She said.

"Please, tell me where he is or point me in the right direction before someone gets hurt" I pleaded with them.

"We don't know anything" Mr Giles stated.

"If I find out that you've held something back from me, I will be back here with a warrant and we will rip your house apart, in front of all your neighbours and I will arrest both of you and make sure you get jail time"

I wasn't messing around with this.

Mr and Mrs Giles looked concerned, and so they should be. They need to open their eyes and realise what their son really is. A stalker. If he hurts Kim, I will take him out no questions asked, that's if Adam doesn't beat me to it.

I was walking to the front door when I heard someone following me, it was Mr Giles.

"We don't know where he is, really we don't, but he spoke a lot about his cellmate... Danny something. They were good friends and Rick said that Danny had his back in prison, Danny got released a couple days before Rick so if Rick is hiding out somewhere, he might be with Danny" He told me.

"Thank you"

I'm bringing Danny in.

"Where is he?"

"I don't know!" Danny shouted.

"C'mon, his dad said you were his best friend" I argued.

"I looked out for him, he knew nothing about prison" Danny said and sighed "Look, I have no idea where Rick is. He used to talk about getting out and seeing that girl again, the one that got him locked up. I would tell him it's not a good idea but he's convinced she loves him" He explained.

"Does he have a vehicle?" Hailey asked him.

"I don't know" Danny was beginning to get tired "I saw him once after he was released. We met for a few drinks the day after he got out, I haven't seen him since" He said.

"What about a phone number?"

"He had a phone but he left it at the bar the night we met up" He answered "Can I go now?" He pleaded.

"Ok but if he contacts you, you call me immediately" Hailey told him and handed him her card.

"If you don't, you're getting a one way ticket back to Statesville" I added.

I called in a patrol officer to see Danny out.

"Where the hell is this guy?" Hailey questioned in frustration.

"We better find him soon" I told her.

Hailey and I made our way back to bullpen and everyone went quiet.

"What's going on Sarge?" Jay asked.

"Nothing you need to worry about" I told him.

"You working a case?" Adam questioned.

"I'm going to say this once. Me and Hailey are working on something that is nothing to do with the rest of you, if you need to know then I'll tell you. Until then get back to work and deal with your own cases" I told them.

Hailey and I went into my office and I closed the door.

"Sarge, someone has to know where he is" She said.

"We'll find him" I replied.

"He left that phone at the bar on purpose so we couldn't trace him. As far as we know he's got no vehicle but we can't find him using the trains either. I've tried tracking him on PODS and cameras but he has to be using side streets to keep out of view. We have nothing to go on and in the meantime, Kim is sitting in her apartment scared to death and sleeping with her gun under her pillow"

"We'll find him" I repeated.

"But how far is this going to go until we do?" She asked.
