Sunday Night HEAT: 20/9/1998
Sunday Night HEAT was live at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California, USA. After the opening match, which was Mankind vs Dustin Runnels, followed by a promo from Val Venis about Terri Runnels, Michael Cole was shown backstage with the undertaker, Kane and the Bladewolf.
"Undertaker, Bladewolf and Kane, first off let's talk about this business deal you've struck with WWF owner Mr. McMahon." Cole said.
"Mr. Cole, let me ask you a question." Undertaker began. "Why is it everyone feels it necessary to anger my brothers and I. You have no answer, do you? Our business deal is strictly that. I have no love lost for Vince McMahon. As a matter of fact, he was standing here on fire... I wouldn't throw scolding hot water on him. And as far as you go, Austin, it's not my fault, it's not Kane's fault and it's not Bladewolf's fault that you've angered McMahon. What you need to concern yourself with, son, is the World Wrestling Federation title and Breakdown. You better keep your mind focused so maybe the only thing you'll lose is your title."
"Well, with that said this plan seems to be flawed." Cole said, causing the brothers to glare at him. "I mean Mankind, Ken Shamrock and the Rock."
"You're really starting to push it." Undertaker warned. "As far as Mankind, the Rock and Shamrock go... gentlemen, you need to understand one thing; if you get in our way you will be hurt and you will be hurt badly. So the next time you think you need to stick your nose in our business, you better think long and hard before you do. We take no prisoners and we show no mercy. Think about it, gentlemen, is that what you want?"
"And that brings us to tonight in your tag team match, gentlemen, against the DOA." Cole said.
"The DOA..." Undertaker slightly shook his head. "As far as we're concerned DOA stands for 'Dead on Arrival'. And gentlemen, when you show up tonight that's exactly what's gonna happen to your careers. Because you stand between us and something we want very badly. So gentlemen, you can't be the first victims but you can and will be the next."
"And this Sunday, at Breakdown: In Your House on PPV. The Fatal 4-Way match for the WWF Championship. The Undertaker..." Cole trailed off as Kane grabbed the mic and brought the electrolarynx to his throat.
"Austin..." Kane rasped out. "Our destiny... will be your demise."
Suddenly Mankind attacked Kane from behind, causing Bladewolf to strike him with a fist. Bladewolf then tackled Mankind into some lockers and held him there as Undertaker and Kane started attacking him only for the Rock and Ken Shamrock to come to mankind's rescue as they attacked the Brothers of Destruction. As the brawl continued, Vince McMahon, Sgt. Slaughter, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson, and various refs and officials tried to break it up. It ended with Vince knocked down and The Undertaker, the Bladewolf and Kane standing over him brandishing sledgehammers.
Later backstage, Vince McMahon berated Mankind for interrupting his plans. Mankind says he was very angry about the sledgehammer thing. Vince advised Mankind to take The Rock and Ken Shamrock and just leave.
Jacqueline solidly defeated Luna in a singles match. The Oddities and Sable were concerned that Luna's knee might be injured. Sable calls Jacqueline back out. Jacqueline challenges Sable for a match on Raw and Sable accepts.
Mankind, The Rock, and Ken Shamrock are escorted off the property by Brisco and security guards.
Jeff Jarrett, D-Lo Brown, and Owen Hart teamed up and defeated D-Generation X in a 6-man Tag Team match thanks to Southern Justice's interference. Mark Henry shows up after the match and drops a leg on Triple H.
In the production room, Al Snow is revealed as the up responsible for all the technical glitches during the broadcast.
Edge defeated Taka Michinoku in 32 seconds. Kai En Tai runs out and attacked Edge, but Gangrel made the save. He then tells Edge that he will "come home".
Al Snow is handcuffed and taken out of the control room. He is taken to the ring at Sgt. Slaughter bequest. Slaughter berated Snow and says that he will face Snow on Raw in a Boot Camp match. If Snow wins, he gets reinstated in the WWF. Slaughter then attacks the defenseless Snow.
Paul Ellering is shown taking to Disciples of Apocalypse on their bikes backstage.
Next up, the Brothers of Destruction vs the DOA.
The Undertaker and Kane took on the DOA while the Bladewolf stood at ringside to watch. Vince McMahon also came out with the Brothers of Destruction and took a seat at the commentary table, putting on a headset.
Kane gets knocked out, leaving DOA to double boot Taker for a two-count. Kane saves the day. Taker pounds 8-Ball or Skull and levels him with the Jumping Clothesline. Tag to Kane, the beatings continue. Crowd wants "Austin" for sure. Kane NO-SELLS what the DOA guy is throwing at him. There's a Side Slam to set up the Flying Clothesline. Kane CHOKESLAMS 8-Ball for a two-count. The match breaks down. 8-Ball gives Kane a piledriver, but Kane SITS UP and shows 8-Ball how it's done with a TOMBSTONE for the three-count.
Bladewolf walks over to stand behind Paul Ellering who turns around... AND IS GRABBED BY THE THROAT! Bladewolf brings Ellering over to the commentary table, lifts him up... AND CHOKESLAMS HIM THROUGH THE TABLE!
Kane raises his arms and throws them down, causing fire to explode from the turnbuckles as the Undertaker's theme plays and Sunday Night Heat goes off the air with the Brothers of Destruction standing tall...
And that's it for this chapter.
