The Box

Upon entering the classroom, Byleth set an empty box on her desk. Her students blinked curiously at it. Byleth occasionally brought items to class to help demonstrate her lectures, but this seemed...unusual.

She gestured at it. "Imagine if someone handed you a box full of all the items you've lost throughout your life."

No one spoke for a few seconds. Then...

"It'd be nice to get my sense of purpose back," Felix grumbled.

"Oh, wow, my childhood innocence!" Mercedes commented. "Thank you for finding this."

"My will to live! I haven't seen this in years," Dimitri chimed in.

Sylvain grinned. "I knew I lost that potential somewhere!"

Byleth stared flatly at the Blue Lions for a few seconds. She liked her students, she truly did. But perhaps she hadn't thought this exercise through very well.

(Perhaps it would've worked better with the Golden Deer; they seemed more laidback, all things considered.)

"...Kids, could you lighten up a little?" she groaned.
