[]Hey guys, your neighborhood-friendly fanfic writer here! I know it has been a while since I have written anything here and I do apologize for that. I won't go into my reasons why; I'm sure y'all are here for the essay I'm about to write. I recently got into the Wings Of Fire fandom and read up on the first series, but I did some research about our couple: Sunny and Sky, Our favorite Sandwing/Nightwing hybrid, and the lost, forgotten twin of Peril! I don't know why but I do see potential in this pairing and I'm interested in seeing if Miss Sutherland will make these two a thing or not. We shall see.

Now, the first thing I would like to address is If there is anything false or inaccurate about the lore of WOF, please let me know. No human is born perfect, but the least we can do is help one another out in understanding our errors. I also would like to know if this isn't your ship, that's fine too. You have every right as an independent individual to state your opinion here and the least we can do is respect it with integrity and mutual understanding. So please, be kind here and treat others here the same way Sunny and Sky treat their friends.

Finally, I will say this is just an experimental one-shot. Just fluff. I do not approve of writing anything Rated-R, because not everyone likes that. I like to keep my works rated PG and Clean. That is all.

Please Enjoy This WOF fanfic: Sunny Skies And Butterflies. ]

Sunny couldn't believe it.

Never in her wildest dreams would she ever think about the topic of love. Sure, they may have been that one time about her debating whether or not she had feelings for her friend Starflight one time or what she thought of him but this was a whole another matter of itself; Frankly, she never believed that she would consider dating or accepting love from an another Dragon. No, this was something that even she didn't quite know much about.

The thoughts of falling in love had a very slim chance for her. Back when she was young and traveled around Pyrrhia, all she could ever care about was fulfilling her role in the Sandwing Succession Prophecy. Sure it was revealed to be a false revelation but at the time, she only cared about stopping the war about the inheritance of the Sandwing throne. Back then, she was in her little atmosphere, cheerful and bright. A little touch of naive here and there but she was the most faithful out of her Winglet. Back when she still had her ignorant innocence and was mindful of her destiny. Those were the days...

However, Reality checked in soon enough.

Now that she was much older and wiser than before, she was more down to her earth about what others thought of her. She was content about possibly being single and all and the thought never bothered her. Well, only once but it wasn't that big of a deal. She was happy with the life she made and what good she and her friends have bought. Only...

The idea still lingered.

She had put aside her thoughts on the backburner, in hopes to let them burn away (If only she had Peril's firescales, maybe that would come in handy). Unfortunately, it made matters worse when she saw how her winglet was changing and was slowly drifting apart. Her big brother of a Mudwing, Clay was currently in a relationship with the renowned Peril. At first, many disproved their relationship, due to Peril's former lifestyle and the sins she carried.

But as time went on, many began to understand Peril's unfortunate predicament and sympathize with her, which led to her relationship being accepted. Many were skeptical about how their relationship would work for the two, considering it was one-sided on Peril's behalf. However, Clay managed to prove them wrong.

It was eventually revealed that Clay did love Peril more than as a friend, although it wasn't until much later did he realize his feelings for her. His Mudwing hormones kicked in late and that was when Sunny had begun to notice Clay was often watching her with a curious look she didn't recognize. Tsunami also had recognized it too and she rolled her eyes in amusement. "Clay finally got bitten by the love bug!", she had chuckled. Clay, being the calm and relaxed one of the group, didn't make a big response out of that one. He did, however, inquired about advice for love, much to everyone. He may be their respective Bigwings but he was clueless when it came to love.

Eventually, Clay gathered his courage and politely asked Peril out on a date, and that set their relationship. Currently, they've been dating for quite a while. Almost to the point where Clay was considering proposing marriage to Peril. She was out of school, graduated with the Jade Winglet and Queen Ruby had blessed her with losing her Firescales; Thanks to Tsunami's little brother and Ruby, they created a special necklace, made out of unbreakable steel, enchanted for her. Ruby altered the scroll Peril had procured and tore off the half that made her a slave to whomever she was loyal. Even though she was now a normal dragon, she was still there for everyone, including her. Especially for her Winglet considering she was a big sister to them. Needless to say, she got the happy ending she always dreamed and she and Clay were Happy and content. Both worked at the Academy and often sat with each other during their lunch breaks.

Tsunami's love life was also a case of happy endings. Their relationship was long-distance but it was a match made well in heaven... a weird one, in Sunny's case. It was true that Tsunami and Riptide had beef in the past, due to Riptide's lies. It took a while but she had finally forgiven him for all of the secrets he had kept and they were made official after the Sandwing Succession war. Sunny was happy for the both of them but found it funny and a bit concerning how they acted around each other; Tsunami was always getting onto his case about every little thing, but Riptide tolerated it. She had asked him why he dealt with Tsunami and he simply answered, "Because I find her more attractive whenever she is mad at me!"

Everyone would normally laugh about his remark, much to Sunny's wonderment. She didn't exactly understand why Riptide would laugh at his comment but he did not seem to mind. Sunny wasn't sure what to think of it, nor if Tsunami knew about this. She probably did, knowing her. She probably didn't say anything. The main point was that she was happy, being with him and that was all Sunny could ever ask for, out of Tsunami and Riptide. Even after Tsunami took the throne of the Seawing Kingdom, she had offered him a place as her king but Riptide humbly rejected it. His reasons were that he couldn't atone for the sins of the kingdom he once called home and his shame would only bring dishonor to the tribe. She was reluctant to understand but they agreed they would see each other every month.

Sunny couldn't help but bring up her middle sister Glory. Since she have took up the mantle of the Rainwing Queen and The banter of ruling the Nightwings, she had helped Tsunami with the advice of ruling a kingdom. Glory's life was the same old routine; Advising the Rainwings and the Nightwings, dealing with Scrollwork, and making sure everyone was content and safe. So far, she was doing all right and Sunny visited her with Clay and Starflight. Glory always acted like she didn't care to see them but at this point, they knew how she truly felt. Sunny would always call her demeanor and Glory would bump her body with hers. Even though she was always on her feet leading the tribe, Sunny couldn't help but one time how she have done it. A tired Glory smiled at her and answered.

"A certain someone always keeps me on my feet. He may be the most aggravating Dragon I've ever met but..." Sunny couldn't help but notice Glory's dreamy stare. "But he is my problem. I wouldn't change him for the world."

Deathbringer. It was Deathbringer she was talking about. The former assassin (now turned bodyguard) had won a place in Glory's cynical heart, strangely as it sounds. Sunny didn't mind their relationship, with her being the kind and caring little sister she was, but she knew everyone thought it was quite strange. After all, Glory fell in love with a dragon who once sought to kill her and maybe her friends. But it was all water under the bridge. Let bygones be bygones. Even If those "bygones" were casually washed away.

Finally, it was time for Sunny to address her friend, Starflight. It was hard for her to admit this, but Sunny always felt guilty for rejecting his feelings. Back then, Starflight suffered at the hands of fate; He was only viewed as a sick tool by the politics of The Nightwings, sought so desperately to be brave and when the chance did come, he was only rewarded cruelly by the loss of his eyesight. Sunny couldn't help but remember the harsh truth setting in for her at the time. Fate had cheated Starflight and it was only made worst when Sunny clarified her feelings for Starflight were only familiar. Starflight however took it in strife and understood, and he proposed being a brother and sister was better. She agreed happily but it still ached in her heart at how much Starflight lost.

However, not all was lost for him.

Ever since Tsunami's kid brother Turtle has found a way to heal Clay's leg and Starflight's eyes, it was a dream come true to see her brothers happy again. She had missed Starflight's green eyes and Clay being able to walk again normally. Emotions were high for her when she saw their disabilities becoming a figment of the past.

It was even better for Starflight because the first thing he did, much to everyone's surprise, was to see Fatespeaker again. Sunny was a bit worried at the time for her Nightwing friend, for she didn't want to think Starflight was forgetting about Fatespeaker. Starflight had run to see her and in a mess of tears, he had embraced her in his arms. It seemed like he didn't want to let her go because they stood in place for Moons knows how long. It was here She and her friends decided to give the two space and respectfully left. Later the next day, Starflight informed them that he and Fatespeaker have accepted to be mates. It was love, beautiful as it is. Starflight had finally won against what Fate had brought to him. His reward was the gift of sight and the endless love Fatespeaker bought to him.

It seemed like every one of her friends have found a soulmate and she was the only one left out. Don't get her wrong; She was happy for her older siblings to find significant others for them to share their love for another, but it felt lonely for Sunny when she had no one to share her love with.

Sure there was Meerkat and other potential candidates but this was different for her. Ever since Sunny accepted the role of Headmistress of Jade Mountain Academy, she had grown and matured from being naive and innocent to a hopeful and inspiring Sandwing. She was happy with her life; She ran a school that integrated the cultures of many dragons, including the dragons of Pantala, and promoted more peaceful, diplomatic relationships between all of the tribes. But there was still something Sunny longed for.

Love.

She had watched with envy afar, seeing Clay and Peril being parent-like figures to their students and giving one another the occasional kiss, Noticing Tsunami nagging onto Riptide's case and him enjoying every minute of it, especially when she had called him Squid-Brain. She longed to have affectional flirting trials Glory and Deathbringer provided for one another. She craved for the quiet but adoring love Starflight and Fatespeaker shared. Everything about their relationships made Sunny wish she had a loving partner to share her caring, personality. It was even harder when no one she knew stood out to her as the kind of dragon she would love to date.

She wanted a dragon that shared the same interest as her, someone who loved everything about her. Someone respectful and kind, someone who loved to try new things and was protective of her. Someone who Sunny would love to be with.

Sunny sighed, in her room. She was sitting at her desk, pouring over scrolls about The Academy, mostly about if the Academy was running well and the Prey supplies. It was going to be an all-nighter and Sunny wasn't looking forward to it. She was already tired enough as it is. Being Headmistress meant new responsibilities she had to carry and on top of that, her mother Thorn have asked to write her a letter every two weeks to make sure she was Okay. While she appreciated how her mother looked out for her, she wished she was here to give her some support. But there were duties Mother and Daughter had to do. The last time Sunny have seen her mom was Qibli's graduation and that felt like ages ago.

Oh, of course, she was lucky enough to have her father Stonemover give her some advice but she wasn't sure if he would be able to. Frankly, she was a bit worried about what her father would think of her dating a dragon. She remembered first meeting him; He was a Nightwing who seemed like he had given up hope and was fossilized to the earth. It was sad really, for her father was waiting for death and wanted nothing more but to die. Sunny has always imagined her father to be something completely different but not like this.

Today, he was now in better health. Turtle helped give him back the ability to walk again and he was considered a grandfather figure in the Academy. Although he walked on stilts, Sunny was happy to see her father being in good condition. He was also helping to teach the potential of Animus magic and how to use it responsibly. Even though she was proud of her father for walking again and being active, he wasn't getting any younger. He was formerly in a relationship with her mother Thorn but things changed after she was hatched. Sunny didn't want to bother him with her issues as she was afraid of bringing back memories of their time together.

To top it all off, today wasn't any other, normal day. This was a day all about love: A human holiday that is known as Valentine's Day. Ever since Pyrrhia sent one of each of their respective wings to Pantala and helped solve their problems, one of the benefits that came out of the catastrophe was that the peace between Dragons and Scavengers... or Humanity, they were correctly referred to, plurally. It was a benefit to both sides, much to Sunny's surprise. She was worried initially that their compromise would soon fall apart and lead to another Scorching of some sort, but thankfully both sides were honoring their partnership. For starters, most Dragons now were learning about how creative and even smart Scavengers were. Sunny always knew they were intelligent but the fact they now know a way to Pantala via these structures called Ships and Boats was astonishing groundbreaking. Another was the fact that some Scavengers were able to communicate with them, all thanks to a certain duo Sunny have met a while back. Some of the students had begun to bond with them and were suggesting to Sunny that Humans should also attend the Academy, in hopes to learn more about their two-legged friends but Sunny wasn't sure if it would work or not. Heck, she wasn't sure if there would be any humans willing to teach a class of Dragonets. She wasn't sure if there was enough space for humans to stay, considering they were very minuscule and could be easily crushed underneath the talons of a Skywing or any other dragons. Another factor would be if there were any scavengers knowledgeable enough to become teachers.

Well, except one. Which leads her to this predicament.

As Sunny had begun to pour over documents piles direfully, a special letter had slipped out from underneath. Sunny stopped for a moment and picked it up. She had never seen letters like this before, not counting that most of them usually were just parchment stocked into big, baggy, brown envelopes. This one was entirely different and had an inquisitive style. A taste between class and fancy. Who could ever afford the gold to send her such a priceless letter? Maybe the Icewing kingdom?

Sunny was almost tempted to not open it, but she found that rude. The Envelope was almost too perfect to be open. It was stunning, as it was snow-white. The writing was completely red and had loopy lettering, as a dragon dipped the tip of a talon and started to play around with its penmanship. Sunny flipped the envelope over and saw the red seal. The color of blood, the seal was a small circle and she could see the faint imprint of a Scavenger riding a dragon. Even though the imprint was meant to depict the common human being and dragon, she knew who it was referring to and she couldn't help but smile.

Wren and Sky..., Sunny thought. I wonder how they are doing.

Sunny remembered meeting the unique duo. That was the day everyone learn about how a human was able to understand the tongue of a dragon and how Peril had a long-lost twin brother. Winter, one of Peril's winglet members revealed the truth about his existence during graduation. She was at first enraged about how Winter kept his existence a secret for so long but she did managed to calm down. Sunny couldn't blame her. She had thought for the longest time she had killed him when they were hatched, so hearing news such as this was hard for anyone to swallow. Peril had been carrying so much guilt for moons knows how long and it was just too much for her to handle. A week later, Peril finally met him and it was a touching emotion for them. Apparently, her twin was The Skywing Representative of Pantala and was known as a hero to many. Even the Icewing Queen Snowfall favored him as The Greatest Skywing she ever met, despite Sky was nothing like any Skywing she have ever met. Needless to say, Sky had an underdog story.

There wasn't everything she knew about Sky. No one wasn't sure how he survived his birth and the only ones who did know was Peril and his beloved human companion, Wren. No one really asked him about his story because they were more interested about his adventures of Pantala. Another reason was Sunny thought it wasn't her place to ask, considering she didn't know Sky personally and thought it would be rude to ask.

After a brief sigh, Sunny gather the courage to crack open the letter. Taking out the paper, she settled aside the envelope and begin to read. Much to her amusement, she found the letter's penmenship unlike anything on the envelope. There was no loopy writing and instead was just a goofy-written essay, although the print was small.

Dear Sunny,

I'm not sure if you know me or anything, but we met when I was reunited with my big sister. It's okay if you don't know me! I tend to be forgetful by others, tee hee. I don't mind it- oh getting off-topic!

Listen, I was wondering If you would be interested in having an adventure with me? The Dragonpress is allowing me to have a few days off from my work and I have noticed that you looked tired and a bit stressed. Wren (that's my human buddy by the way!) explained to me that taking you out is something called a date, whatever that is. The only thing I know about Dates is that I gotta delivered my mail on certain days, at certain times. Oh, and there are also a type of yummy fruit in the desert!

Wren is telling me to get back on track. Sorry about that! Anyway, if you like to join me on a small adventure, come by Sanctuary before next month. I don't know what we will do on our "date" but we'll figure something out! We can look at snails and turtles and slugs and baby birdies and squirrels! There's so cute!! I lo-

Sorry again for rambling on. Wren is rolling her eyes and smiling at me. She's such a good friend. Don't worry about it if you can't make it. It's no biggie! There will always be other chances. Oh, if you don't ever want to go on an adventure with me ever, you can just let my big sissy Peril know! She comes by every month or so. She also brings her boyfriend, Clay. I like him. He's such a nice Mudwing and I think he is cool! I hope he is doing okay too.

I guess I should say goodbye. Wren's telling me that there's little room on this paper. Goodbye Sunny! Stay safe out there!

Snails, Sky!

P.S: Hey Sunny, this is Wren here. Hopefully, you'll be able to read this. If so, thank goodness. I wrote this for Sky because he's still learning how to write himself. It'll be a while for him until he can write letters of his own. So far, he's gotten down the basics of reading but writing is a whole another matter. If you two decide to hang out on your date, The only thing I will ask of you is to look after my dragon partner. I have things to do and Sky and I want some "me" time. I had no idea what he wanted to do until he told me about you and how he wanted to help you with something. Whatever that is, I hope Sky can help. Just don't do anything bad or... natural. I know you dragons got a weird mating system and all but I don't want Sky to be traumatized. He's maturing right now but still has that child-like innocence. See you later, Sun.

Sunny settled down the letter. Sky wanted to take her out on a "date"? Well, that was new. Never would she imagine herself being asked to be taken on a date from Sky himself, Kestrel's son. She never thought much about it, never imagined herself to be the sort of going on a date with anyone. Now thinking about it, she had no clue about dates or what it means to go on one. How does a date work?

She sat in thought for a moment, then read the letter again. What she should she do? Should she go on the date? How did Sky know she was stressing out? What will happen to the Academy, if she did go on the date? Who will be in charge? Will anything bad happen?! Oh, if only her friends were here! Maybe they could give her some advice.

Sunny wasn't sure what to do. She did want to go on an adventure and be free from the stress of being Headmistress of a day. That thought alone was enough to reassure her to go for the date, but what would her family think?

She missed her sisters, Tsunami and Glory. They would know what to do. They always knew. They were her big sisters, the sisters she looked up to. If only they were here...

But she had to work on what she got. So in the dead of night, she silently made her way to Clay's cave room. One of the many perks of being tiny was that she was nimble, light on her feet and never made a loud sound. She reached his cave and was tempted to knock on the cave. She hopefully didn't want to walk in on an awkward scene where Clay and Peril were... going at it. She shuddered. She remembered vaguely she accidentally stumbled into one of Starflight's and Fatespeaker's tumbles.

To be fair, she knew she should've knocked on the stone walls ahead of time but then again, they shouldn't be doing the deed at a place of learning. She had hoped that tonight wasn't one of those nights for Clay and Peril.

She rapped her knuckled and talons on the wall as a form of knocking. A moment later, Sunny could hear Peril's faint call of permissioned entry. Sunny slowly walked in.

"Clay? Peril? Are you guys still up? Can we talk? Did I wake you both up?", Sunny called in the darkness of the cave. The whole room was pitch-black and Sunny could barely see anything.

It took a moment for Sunny's eyes to adjust to the darkness but the time they did get used to it, Clay had already lighten up the cave, thanks to a torch. Peril had extended her claw and her talons lit the wooden stick. One thing that Sunny knew Peril liked was that she could control her Firescales at will, a feat that Sunny was proud of Peril.

Peril lit up a couple of the torches as Clay moved to make space on their flat-stone bed. Thankfully, Sunny hadn't walked in another Tumbling scene, much to her relief. She didn't mind her siblings being passionate with their significant others, but the last thing she didn't want to see was how Dragonets were made. That was their business and she tended to stay out of it.

After all of the torches were lit, Peril made her way back to her spot and sat down. She smiled at her, which made Sunny feel calm. Ever since her time at Jade Mountain, Sunny had noticed that Peril had matured and became somewhat of an protector, always defending Dragonets from bullies or whatever harm comes their way. It was no surprise that she became a self-defense teacher here at the Academy. Tsunami once stated she would like to try her hand against Peril, but Peril had asked if they could, she would want to duel as equals. Tsunami accepted that. Now that was a surprise to Sunny. But that was a story for another day.

Clay yawned and did a quick stretch. "Hey Sunny," Clay replied. "What's up, little sister?"

"Hey Clay. Hey Peril. You guys don't mind if I talk to you two about something? Peril, you should hear this too. This includes you too."

A hesitant Peril awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck. Sunny could tell she was still trying to get used to her company. Sunny couldn't blame her; Their first interaction wasn't the best start. Clay gave her a reassuring smile and she relaxed immediately.

"Hey Sunny, What's going on?"

Sunny took a deep breath. She wasn't sure how she would start this but it was now or never.

"I've been asked out... to go on a date."

Immediately, she braced for the million comments and the embrace from Clay but they never came. She opened her eyes to see Clay and Peril looking at her, with a curious expression. Noticing this, she dropped down her arms and regain her posture.

"Sorry."

"Don't be," Clay said with a smile. "We're not going to hurt you."

"You're not?"

"Why would we?", Peril said. "You haven't told us any problem you're having. If you do have one." She stopped momentarily and quickly, "I'm not trying to sound mean! I hope not!"

Sunny giggled with amusement. Seeing Peril flustered was always a sight to see. Seeing how Peril was trying to change into a good person was enough for Sunny to forgive her sins. She was happy that Peril was accepting responsibility and growing into a person of such refined maturity. Clay was truly blessed, even if she still believed Clay was undeserving to anyone.

"Besides," Clay continued. "The look on your face tells me you got more to tell. Take your time, Sunny. We're here for you."

Sunny smiled brightly. "Thank you, Clay. Thank you, Peril." She took a sigh. "I got a letter from Sky and Wren."

"Sky!," Peril said with excitement. Clay immediately touched his hand on her shoulder wing and she immediately sat down. "Sorry".

"Don't be, Peril. He's your little brother, I understand. Well, he sent me this letter. He wants to take me out on a date." Sunny pulled out the letter and gave Clay the letter. Peril peered over from his shoulder and they quickly scanned it.

"So Wren and Sky are going to have some space, eh?", Clay said, once he have given back the letter. " That's a first. I never imagined Sky the sort to be somewhat independent, even for a short amount of time."

Sunny nodded in agreement. Peril had explained awhile back that the moment Sky met Wren, the two were inseparable. Sunny could only guess that it was Wren who helped raised him from birth. Sunny liked to imagine what lives Peril and Sky could've had if Kestrel did survive her death. Truth be told, Sunny missed her. Sure she may have done some things that Glory or Tsunami could never forgive but Sunny was all about forgiveness. She believed everyone deserved a second chance, even if they have done the most sinful things ever imagine.

"Well they were together since they were younger," Peril said. Well, that answered her question. "The two of them grew up together as a team. They were outcasted from their race and they found solace in each other. I wonder why they decided to take some time off."

Clay nodded in agreement. "That's their business but it does raise a question. I just hope they didn't enter an intense argument. They're not the type to split off after a disagreement."

"I don't think so," Sunny said. "I think Sky is just being honest. I mean, he is innocent and pure. Surely, something didn't happen between the two." I hope not.

Peril nodded in agreement. "What am I thinking?", she said. "Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid? What do you think Clay?"

"There's no shame of being Paranoid, Peril," Clay began. "He's your brother. You two haven't grown up together as I have with my Mudwing sibs. Not that I'm complaining..."

Clay looked at a picture by his stone nightstand. One of the many features of human advancement was these pictures called Murals. Clay had gotten the painting from a friend of Wren's, who was the same Scavenger Clay had saved during their escape from Ex-Queen Scarlett's wrath. Sunny always knew Dragons had their artstyle but she never imagined that such a scavenger could create something beautiful. Scavengers were truly something else.

Sunny couldn't help but admire the painting as well. While it was true that they didn't look exactly like them, it was still a painting about them. Sunny's counterpart was a small, smiling, golden drake.

"But I wouldn't trade taking care of you guys for the world," Clay said, proudly. "I love my family, Mudwings and Foster Sibs alike."

"I wouldn't have changed the experience of growing up with you or the others for anything else in the world," Sunny replied with pure sibling love towards Clay. She also looked at Peril and she smiled back. "That includes you too, Peril! I know you didn't grow up with us but you are a sister to me. After all, I can safely say you're Clay's wife! Which makes me your little sister-in-law!"

The three of them laugh heartfully together. Sunny adored moments like these. They were her family and she wouldn't change it for the world. Her world.

After their little laugh, Clay went back to the topic. "So...," he began. "Let me guess, you are wondering if you should do this." He motioned his talon about the D-word.

Sunny nodded. "It's just that... I don't know what to expect, what I should do. I'm not scared or anything but I am worried about what will happen to the Academy or myself. I don't know what to do. I don't even know how a date is supposed to work! I wish Tsunami or Glory were here. They know what to do. They always do."

"Oh Sunny...", Clay said with a tone of pure sadness. He placed a hand on her. His left-wing tenderly touched hers. Sunny was incredibly grateful for Clay's nurture. She could always rely on him and she was grateful for his support.

Peril also came to support her, although it was a work in progress. Years of being used as an enslaved torture tool and not having any physical contact was something Peril struggled with. She had awkward wanted to hug her but decided to settle with a head pat. She would have minded the hug but she could understand why she chose the head pat; Peril had nightmares about the victims she had killed. They weren't frequent but it had left her as a person who didn't like to be hugged for a long time unless it was Clay.

"Sunny...", Clay said, while he nuzzled her affectionally. " It's ok to feel this way. I know how much you missed them. I miss them too. But I'm sure they would agree with what I'm going to say."

"What would that be?", Sunny asked curiously.

Clay smiled. " It's that you won't know you like something unless you give it a go. Now, I'm not saying you should go on this date unless you want to. That's your decision. You have every right to choose whether or not you want to do this. However, you won't know if you don't broaden your horizons. I think you should give Sky a chance. What you need Sunny is a mental health day. A day to relax and have fun. Maybe Sky will give you that opportunity. But that is your choice."

"I agree," Peril nodded. "Sunny, I know how scary this can be but you gotta take risks to succeed. I don't think Sky isn't the type to harm any living creature. We all know that. For moon's sake, every time I visit him he's always showing me his pet Snail collection. He adores them to death. Even the Icewing queen talks high about his kind nature. Tsunami told me he may be the least Skywingish Skywing she has ever met, but she also told me he had a pure heart of gold. I don't think he is even capable of hurting anyone. How ironic... Skywings are known to be big and scary yet he isn't anything like Skywing has ever seen. That's my little brother for you!", she laughed heartfully.

Sunny gave out a sigh of relief. She knew Sky wasn't the type to hurt anyone, not even the tiniest thing. He did have a gentle heart. Peril's words managed to give her peace of mind. "I'm glad I have you here Peril. But I still need to ask about one thing."

"Hit me!", Peril said.

"What exactly is a date? What are you supposed to do on these dates?"

Before Peril or Clay could answer the question, someone else had already beaten her to it.

"A date is a type of social appointment, an event of communication and interaction. It is often tied with a romantic interest," Starflight answered. Everyone jumped slightly at his presence. No one heard his talons tapping on the rocky floor. It is surprising to see Starflight awake at this hour, including how silently he came in. Trailing behind him was his girlfriend Fatespeaker, who waved happily at the trio.

Starflight made his way to the stone bed, sitting beside Clay. Sunny moved over next to Peril. Thankfully, Peril didn't seem to mind sharing her bubble with her as Fatespeaker sat next to Sunny.

"Ah, you're so warm Sunny! The air is chilly tonight. So nice to have some warmth on my scales!", Fatespeaker exclaimed. Sunny couldn't help but smile. It was surprising to think Fatespeaker could've been her sibling if she was part Sandwing. It was astonishing to think they both shared similar personalities traits and attitudes about life.

Starflight cleared his throat, then re-adjusted his spectacles. Even though he regained his eyesight, the healing process left his eyes somewhat near-sighted. Thankfully, one of the Pantalan dragons had gifted him a pair of glasses, which served as a symbol of their friendship. Sunny had to remember who had given him the pair. It was a female dragon she believed.

"I apologize for interrupting your conversation, Sunny and Clay," Starflight apologized. He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and Fatespeaker tenderly rubbed her wing against his. Sunny almost winced. She still felt guilty about rejecting his feelings, despite it was now long in the past.

At least Fatespeaker was there for him, even after he regained his eyesight. "Fatespeaker and I were on a stroll together when we overheard your talk. We were wondering if we could give you some advice to you, Sunny."

"Well, I need all the advice I can get if I do decide to do this. So lay it on me, Stars!"

Starflight chuckled. "Enthusiastic as always. The custom of dates works like this: A pair agree to socialize during such duration. Normally one would take the other out to dinner or a fun activity. It is a custom that has been practiced by Scavengers and Dragons. That is the common routine for such a romantic event but chance also plays a part. You have to consider the odds of what Sky might have in store for you."

"But that sounds unpredictable!"

"Oh, that's a part of the fun!", Fatespeaker joined in, with a grin. "Not foreseeing the expected is amazing. You don't know what is going to happen but like Clay said, you got to take risks to grow. If you do decide to go for it, you may like it. If you don't, that's fine too! All we want Sunny is to make you happy!"

Sunny watched as all of her friends gave her their grins. They all begin to talk about their experiences about their dates of the past. From Clay and Peril's hunts to Starflight and Fatespeaker's visits to Scavenger plays, It was enough to convince her maybe her date with Sky wasn't going to be all that bad. She was still worried about how things will turn out and if she would do a bad job on her part but she knew she had her family to count on. She smiled at the letter.

"I've decided," she stated out loud. "I shall attend it. I need to write a letter to Sky."

Fatespeaker and Peril squealed in excitement. Clay and Starflight smiled proudly at her. Sunny even noticed that Clay had a couple of tears running down his eyes scales. That was a rare surprise to see, in Sunny's case; She had never seen Clay cry before. He was usually good at keeping his emotions in check since he was a big brother figure to all of his siblings. She had heard from Glory that the only time he did seem to almost cry was learning the harsh truth, from his mother, about Mudwing Culture. Except, in this case, She could tell he was happy for her.

"Are you ok, Clay?", Starflight asked with concern. Clay nodded while he dried his tears. "You're growing up, Sunny. Taking a big step in the world. You really should be proud of yourself!"

She smiled, this time with tears. She was proud of herself. She was going to have her very first day, as a full-grown dragon. She was happy that she had her family's support but even happier that she was going to do something big this time.

Big date with Sky... Here I come!
