Alrighty, guys. It's time for the battle scene. Then I'll temporarily step away to make a couple other things before making a GRAND return to this story just like on this site in general! XD

With that being said, I hope you enjoy. ;)

It took about a minute for everyone to head up to the training grounds. It was a large, open area. Not too large, but it was enough where everyone here would have enough room to move around at.

There was a perfectly crafted field in the middle, surrounded by a border of softened wood. The field was covered in dirt, with white lines on the edge of the field, with a vertical on each side, a horizontal one streaked down the middle, and more lines that shape a Poke Ball dead center.

In front of the field was a large building with a red roof. In front of the main entrance was a large woman. She had pale skin and poofy red hair that was tied into a big ponytail. She wore what seemed like the Galaxy Team uniform, but it was red, fit with black trousers and large tan sandals. Her gray eyes gaze over at the group, a determined expression agape.

At the side of the building was another person. It was a man, slightly shorter than the woman, with just about the same skin color. His clothing was unusual to the residents of the village. Wearing a large, black trench coat, adorned with two brown stripes, with rips and streams blowing across the wind. The coat was unzipped and he was also revealed to be wearing a white shirt with a pink spherical logo on it. He had on black pants and boots and also wore a black conductor's cap on top of his head, completely covering his hair. His eyes were colorless, had gray facial hair on each side of his face, and a frown was the main thing noticable on his face.

The woman smiles at the group, crossing her arms as she greets them.

"Well, well! Not every day I see a gathering like this!" She chuckled, "What brings you all here?"

"Hey, Zisu," Shinku greeted, "Well, I'm going to have a Pokemon battle with Aoi here so he can be determined if he will join the Survey Corps."

"I see. If that's the case, I will standby and cheer both of you on! You two better give it your all!" Zisu cheered.

"I will be the referee for this battle." The man said, finally speaking upon noticing everyone. He steps towards the field, maintaining distance when he got closer. Meanwhile, Zisu joins the group as they all begin going their own way to watch the battle from a different spot.

"Not to worry, Warden Ingo has a knack for Pokemon battles," Irida said to the blue-haired boy, "He will make sure the battle carries on fair and square!"

"O-Okay.." Aoi replied shyly.

"Good luck, Aoi! We know you can do it!" Laventon cheered.

"Your trial starts upon stepping onto the field." Cyllene ordered. Aoi nods again, and steps onto the right podium. He took a deep breath, nerves washing over him like a tidal wave. Yet, with enough strength, he kept cool as he grabbed one of his Poke Balls.

Shinku steps onto the left podium, staring right at Aoi. The former could tell that the latter seemed nervous, but he knew. This trial had to be a welcome one.

"Now, here's how the battle will work," Ingo called out, "Each one of you will have a one-on-one battle with your Pokemon! This continues for all six of your current party members! Only one substitution is allowed for each Pokemon during this fight! Ready... battle START!"

Ingo raises his arm and lowers it back down at a rapid pace, giving the signal.

"Okay, Kleavor... go!" Aoi exclaimed, throwing his Poke Ball at the ground, expelling a blue energy. The Poke Ball retreats back to him as his first Pokemon is revealed: a brown spiky creature, fit with two arms that are shaped like axes. The stones on both the axes and his body were black, reflecting its shine from the sunlight.

"Huh, he's starting off with one of the Pearl Clan's might nobles." Irida said to herself.

"That's not something you see every day." Adaman chimed in.

"Honchkrow, go!" Shinku yelled, sending out his own first Pokemon. Out came a pitch-black bird Pokemon. It flies high into the air, its eyes covered by the large, wide hat it has engraved on top of his head. The Pokemon lets out a huff through its thick white fluffy scarf.

"Now, set up with Nasty Plot!" The Survey Corps boy shouted. Honchkrow closes his eyes. He grunts as thoughts appeared into his head. A glimpse of a sprkle appeared in one of his eyes as he opens them, and he chuckles sinisterly.

"Kleavor, X-Scissor!" Aoi exclaimed. Kleavor lets out a roar as its axe-like hands glow a bright green color. In a split second, he charges at Honchkrow, cutting in the formation of an X.

Honchkrow stumbles in the air, but shakes his head as he gets back into perfect formation.

"Dark Pulse!" Shinku commanded. Honchkrow opens his beat, as a bright dark energy forms. After a couple seconds of charging, he unleashes this energy right at Kleavor.

"Agile Style Stone Axe!" Aoi yelled. Kleavor raises his axe hands again, and slams the incoming Dark Pulse down. A light blue aroma fills the field, which outlines Kleavor for a second before it completely goes away.

"Now, Close Combat!" Aoi continued. The large Bug/Rock Pokemon rushes at Honchkrow at an alarming rate. However, Shinku closes his eyes and thinks. He kept his eyes closed for a few seconds before he opens them right back up and points.

"Collide into him with Brave Bird!" He shouted. Honchkrow becomes enwrapped in powerful sky blue energy, almost appearing as a more sharper bird. He purposely gets close to Kleavor, who begins unleashing a flurry of punches.

The Brave Bird was holding back the best it can. However, Kleavor ended up getting the upper hand and pushing him back, flinging Honchkrow high into the air. This incredible feat put a surprised expression on Aoi, mouth agape and all that.

"Whoa...! Good job, Kleavor!" He complimented.

"Vor, Kleavor!" The Axe Pokemon lets out an appreciated noise in its battle position. Shinku begins thinking again, tapping his foot ever so wondrously.

"Agile Style Ominous Wind!" He exclaimed. Honchkrow spins in the air a bit as he flies around for a moment. He begins swinging his wings together and unleashes a purple ghostly wind right at Kleavor.

He closes his eyes and uses his axes to shield himself from this vastly energy.

"And now, Brave Bird! Shinku continued. By the time Kleavor opened his eyes, he didn't have enough time to react to Honchkrow's incoming Brave Bird attack. The impact launched Kleavor out of the field, sitting on the floor.

"O-Oh no!" Aoi cried, "Don't give up, Kleavor! Swords Dance!"

Kleavor instantly gets up, clanging his axe hands together. This process continues for a moment before he slams them back to the ground, growling.

"And now, Stone Axe!" The blue-haired boy exclaimed. The rocky energy fills the axes once again as Kleavor charges right towards Honchkrow again.

"Dodge it, then use Dark Pulse!" Shinku yelled. The Big Boss Pokemon flies into the air by the time Kleavor slams his right axe down at him, rendering a complete miss. High into the sky, Honchkrow unleashes his dark energy.

"X-Scissor!" Aoi cried. In a split second, Kleavor's axes turn back green as he puts them near himself for protection. When the Dark Pulse got closer, the X-looking cut occurs from Kleavor as he cuts it right open.

"Now, Honchkrow! Strong Style Brave Bird!" Shinku screamed. With no reaction, Honchkrow attacks Kleavor with his strongest attack yet again. When they collided, a lighter red energy fills the field from Honchkrow.

This appears for about a second before Kleavor falls to the floor on his back. Upon the impact, Kleavor had swirls covering his eyes.

"It seems as if Kleavor is unable to continue! Honchkrow takes round one!" Ingo yells, pointing over at Honchkrow.

"*sigh* You did really good, Kleavor," Aoi whispered, "You are getting a lot stronger than ever before. Now, get some rest."

Aoi grabs Kleavor's Pokemon and the currently fainted Pokemon is sent back.

"What a marvelous first round! I can feel myself beaming with joy!" Laventon cheers.

"Even one of the Pearl Clan's nobles are no match for how wise Shinku is when he fights." Irida said.

"Not bad, Aoi. Not bad at all." Shinku commented.

"I-I suppose so," Aoi stammered, "Kleavor has always been aiming to get stronger... but this fight is far from over. Electrode, go!"

Aoi quickly grabs his next Poke Ball and throws it out. The next Pokemon was ready to fight: a motive giant Poke Ball, except the colors are on opposite sides. Its angry eyes glow as its frown plagues the field, shaking in the meantime.

"Honchkrow, Ominous Wind!" Shinku demanded. Staying in the air yet again, Honchkrow begins blowing his ghostly wind at Electrode using his wings.

"Distract Honchkrow using an Agile Style Energy Ball!" Aoi suggested. Electrode, through its gritted teeth, begins forming a green ball. Within seconds, the ball is unleashed at the Big Boss Pokemon.

"Brave Bird!" Shinku shouted. Before the Energy Ball got close, Honchkrow just breaks it open using the strong energy through Brave Bird.

"Catch him with Thunderbolt!" Aoi continued. Electrode is soon wrapped in a yellow energy, zapping all over the place. As Honchkrow prepared to attack, he screams out loud as he flies right into the electric attack unleashed right at him.

Honchkrow immediately falls down with a thud, swirly eyed and unable to continue.

"What a shocking outcome! Aoi evens it back up by having his Electrode take down Honchkrow!" Ingo yelled, unable to suppress his utter shock. Shinku smiles as he lets out a sigh, returning the fainted Honchkrow back to his Poke Ball.

"Just so you know, Aoi," He chuckled, "I may be welcoming you with all my heart, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna hand you a victory for free. Things must be earned at a leisurely pace. Now, Magmortar, let's prove to everyone how well battling brings to the people of Hisui!"

He quickly grabs his next Poke Ball for the battle to continue. Out comes a warm-colored Pokemon. A fire pattern on her belly, fit with smug eyes and large pink lips, and aiming with two yellow arm cannons. The Pokemon stomps her foot as she crosses the cannons together as best she can.

"Oho, seems like Shinku isn't messing around anymore!" Laventon chuckled.

"I taught him everything I know!" Zisu said.

"Electrode, Thunderbolt again!" Aoi exclaimed. Electrode begins charging another zap right at the incoming Pokemon.

"Hmm... aha!" Shinku says as he snaps his fingers, "Magmortar, go for a Thunderbolt of your own!"

The Blast Pokemon turns to the side and aims her right cannon at the Thunderbolt. A blast of electricity emerges from it, ending in the two attacks colliding with each other and leaving behind a small cloud of light gray smoke.

"What?! I didn't know his Magmortar knew Thunderbolt!" Irida shouted, placing her hands over her mouth.

"Very good! Now, Flamethrower!" Shinku cheered. Magmortar aims with the left cannon this time. Fire is spewing out of it, which lands a direct hit on the Sphere Pokemon.

"Electrode, trode..." It groans in pain as it spins around.

"Electrode, hang on! You can do it!" Aoi cried. Electrode shakes in its spot yet again, and growls so it can fight as best it can.

"Use an Agile Style Energy Ball!" The blue-haired boy says. Electrode begins forming its orb of power again, and quickly unleashes it once it was its small size.

"Tank it." Shinku ordered. Magmortar lets out a grunt as she raises her cannon arms to protect herself. The Energy Ball hits head on, yet it does nothing more than push the Blast Pokemon back a tiny bit.

Removing her cannons, Magmortar has come out unscathed.

"Thunderbolt one more time!" Aoi shouted. Electrode once again unleashes its powerful electrical energy.

"Quick, use Psychic and interrupt Electrode's attack!" Shinku yelled. Magmortar's eyes began to glow pink, causing the Thunderbolt to stop an inch away from directly hitting her.

The same pink color outlines Electrode, and it makes a confused noise when it was being levitated in the air. Magmortar raises her arm cannons as she prepares for something deadly to occur to the Sphere Pokemon.

"Break out of it with Chloroblast!" While still struggling, it wraps itself in bright chlorophyll and lunahces it all around the place. Part of the energy hits Magmortar, which pushes her back way farther. She stumbles a bit, but catches herself as she lands on one knee.

Electrode stomps back onto the ground, closing one eye as it sweats a bit.

"Not gonna lie, that was impressive. Never seen anyone break out of a Psychic like that." Adaman wondered.

"Okay, Magmortar, you ready? Agile Style Flamethrower!" Shinku yelled. Magmortar aims her left cannon at Electrode, a cyan star shimmering in her left eye. That same cyan drowns the battlefield as the Flamethrower is unleashed.

"I-I have no choice at this rate... Electrode, Self-Destruct!" Aoi whimpered. Electrode closes his eyes and begins glowing. Once it turned completely white, a large explosion engulf the entire field.

The Flamethrower dissipates as soon as the energy nuke came to place. Magmortar's eyes widen as she sees her life flash before her very eyes.

A large boom is heard. None of the current contestants were seen at this rate, rendering everyone washed over with worry unlike anything every seen before. When the smoke disappears, Magmortar turned out to be bruised all over, yet still standing.

Electrode, however, has fainted as a result of this deadly attack. This makes Aoi quietly sigh, like he knew the result.

"Even with a deadly Self-Destruct, it was no match as Magmortar takes home the gold with a last-minute stand!" Ingo rambled.

"Electrode, return. You did your very best." Aoi cooed, returning the fainted Electrode back to its resting place.

"You too, Magmortar. Battle is halted for you for now." Shinku chimed in, returning the Blast Pokemon back as well.

"Oh, y-you're switching, too?" Aoi asked.

"Yeah, I wanna make use of the substitutions." Shinku replied.

"Just as we expected! Shinku makes the first substitution, meaning next time he sends out Magmortar, there won't be another for that Pokemon!" Ingo reminded.

"I'll send out mine first to make it easier for you. Lucario, you're up!" Shinku exclaimed, sending out his next Pokemon. Out came a large blue humanoid like Pokemon, yet with pointy ears and a large black tail that was hard to the touch, He had a fluffy chest, yet with a spike in the middle and on the back of his hands, and a black face mask-like aura surrounded his eyes.

"Hmm... Ursaluna, go!" Aoi grunted as he sends out his next Pokemon. A large black bair Pokemon emerged from the Pokemon. His huge size intimidated those around him, despite its soft frown. A full moon symbol can be seen on his forehead.

"Okay, Lucario, Bullet Punch!" Shinku commanded. Lucario's claws turn a metallic gray as he sprints to the large bear. The Aura Pokemon begins punching at a rapid pace. Ursaluna grunts, but shakes it off as Lucario sprints right back.

"Ursaluna, Rock Slide!" Aoi shouted. The Peat Pokemon roars loudly as a bunch of medium-sized rocks are raining down.

"Quick, sprint away from them!" Shinku exclaimed. Lucario notices the rocks from the corner of his eye, and begins running away from each of them.

"Headlong Rush!" Aoi quickly said. By the time Lucario was done running, Ursaluna rams his head right at his opponent, knocking him back to the ground. Lucario grunts as he gets him, stumbling a bit as the pain settled in out of nowhere. But the look on his face tells everyone he is NOT giving up that easily.

"Aura Sphere, go!" Shinku demanded. Lucario's hands were covered in blue fire. A large orb began to form off of that energy alone. And when the orb was big enough, it was unleashed at Ursaluna.

The Peat Pokemon's eyes widen as he saw the attack coming towards him, but couldn't react. It lands a direct it, but he digs his paws into the ground to prepare for something even more devastating.

"What a tanky Pokemon! Most wouldn't be able to handle a powerful Aura Sphere." Laventon complimented.

"Hm... Ursaluna, Double Edge!" Aoi shouted. A white energy surrounds Ursaluna completely, and he charges towards Lucario, who stood there menacingly.

"Push it back as best you can, then go for an Agile Style Crunch!" Shinku exclaimed. The Aura Pokemon extends his palms out. Ursaluna collides with him, but in a moment's notice, Lucario ever so slightly pushed him back and bit down on his front paw, making Ursaluna grunt from the pain.

"Very good! Now, push yourself back and go for Dragon Pulse!" Shinku continued. Lucario does was as he was told and jumps from Ursaluna's huge shoulder to maintain distance. Extending his palms again, a lavender beam unleashes at the Peat Pokemon, who just recovered from the Crunch.

"Pass through with Play Rough!" Aoi yelled. This time, Ursaluna charges forward with no energy surrounding him and tanks the Dragon Pulse with ease. When he reached Lucario, he began slapping him repeatedly like no tomorrow.

Lucario is pushed back once again, but places his right hand on the ground as he slides before he suddenly stops in place.

"Strong Style Headlong Rush!" Aoi continued. Ursaluna shakes himself off from the last rough attack he performed. As soon as he got his act together, his eye glows red for a moment before he begins charging up with a huge ear-piercing roar, right towards Lucario.

"Agile Style Bullet Punch! Keep him at bay!" Shinku ordered. Lucario's eyes shine a bright blue before his hands turn all metallic. WHen Ursaluna got close, the Aura Pokemon unleashes a flurry of punches in a very rapid pace than usual.

"Hmm, seems like that Agile Style is helping him out here!" Zisu mentioned.

"Quite an unexpected approach! Speed matching with power..." Laventon said in awe. The others were too focused on who was gonna gain the upper hand from this interaction after ten seconds passed.

After about several more seconds, but of them get pushed back. Ursaluna lets out a deep grunt as his feet plant to the floor.

"Now, Lucario! Strong Style Aura Sphere!" Shinku shouted. With a red shine gazing from Lucario's eyes, he powers up a huge Aura Sphere, and unleashes it with no hesitation.

Ursaluna's eyes widen when he saw the blue ball of this power heading towards him. Even after he was recovering from the Strong Style move he used just recently, he tried to claw the Aura Sphere back.

A small cloud of smoke was erupted from the impact of the move. When it cleared up, Ursaluna fell to the floor, swirly-eyed even after the powerful Aura Sphere.

"O-Oh no!" Aoi cried.

"Even with a last minute attack, Lucario gets the win over Ursaluna!" Ingo exclaimed. Aoi let out a small sigh, bringing out his Poke Ball and returning Ursaluna back. Lucario grunts as he closes his eyes, this "aura" emanating through his palms.

"I'll commend you for the use of Agile Style and Strong Style," Shinku complimented, "One must know when to strike and figure out when your Pokemon can properly move again. A counterattack can be the life or death situation in the middle of a jam.

"Y-Yeah... that's true." Aoi said.

"So, who's your next Pokemon?" Shinku asked, showing a small smile to ease his opponent.

"Hmm... Sneasler, you're up!" Aoi exclaimed, throwing out another Poke Ball. Out came a tall feline-esque Pokemon. She was gray with a purple face, and its right ear was a long feather that trails down to her chest. There were two yellow crystals on her: one on her forehead, and the other square on her chest.

Sneasler would begin waving towards the crowd with a smug look on her face, then she looks towards her opponent, gnashing her tall red claws together.

"Okay, Sneasler, Swords Dance!" Aoi shouted. With a sassy smile, Sneasler would sharpen it claws together and raise them high into the air in a perfect show-off pose.

"Lucario, Crunch!" Shinku commanded. Lucario grits his teeth as he rushes over at Sneasler, who prepared herself for the incoming attack!

"Go! Shadow Claw!" Aoi screamed. Sneasler's claws begin to wrap themselves around ghostly energy. Lucario opens his mouth and prepares to bite down, only for Sneasler to counter by slicing Lucario with the Shadow Claw.

Lucario ends up biting down on it, which makes him pull away from the pain beginning to form. He lands back on the floor with a grunt.

"Keep Sneasler away with Dragon Pulse!" Shinku demanded. Lucario begins forming a beam of purple energy, and unleashes it within seconds right at Sneasler.

"Block it with your claws, and use an Agile Style Swords Dance!" Aoi exclaimed. The Free Climb Pokemon protects herself with her claws, scraping through the energy with ease.

When the Dragon Pulse finally dissipates, Sneasler lets out a sassy chuckle as she brings herself to raise her offensive stats with the claws she just used to bring forth destruction.

"And now, Drain Punch!" Aoi continued. Sneasler clenches her claws into fists, absorbing energy as she rushes out at Lucario. The latter notices the incoming opponent and could do nothing as he was burtally pushed back.

This was enough to keep Lucario laying on the ground. He shuts his eyes tightly from the energy he felt was vanished in an insant. Sneasler giggles once again as she begins making another pose to show off.

"Hmph... Lucario, return for now!" Shinku exclaimed, bringing out Lucario's Poke Ball and returning the slightly injured Pokemon.

"Another substitute from Shinku! Let's hope he can have Lucario rest enough before he's sent back out next turn!" Ingo commented.

"Oh dear... is that all part of the plan?" Aoi questioned.

"You'll find out." Shinku chuckled as he smirks, bringing out another Poke Ball. Throwing it to the ground, he sends out his next Pokemon. A white fox Pokemon with yellow eyes shakes in place as she growls. Most of her face was covered by a large white mane with red tips swaying around.

"The Baneful Fox Pokemon... never will I understand how he tamed one of those." Iridia uttered.

"Okay, Zoroark, Shadow Ball!" Shinku commanded. Zoroark raises her head up high as a huge ghostly ball formed. She throws it right at Sneasler, who takes the direct hit. The Free Climb Pokemon growls as she stomps the ground, feigning to give up.

"Sneasler, Dire Claw!" Aoi yelled. Sneasler's claw turn purple as she runs towards her opponent. With one swift slash, Zoroark gets knocked back by the impact of that move. She growls as she places her hands on the ground to boost herself, snickering maliciously.

"Hang in there, Zoroark! Quick, go for Bitter Malice!" Shinku suggested. Zoroark screams with all her might, a blast of ghostly energy erupting from her. The waves of his attacking begin surrounding Sneasler from all sides.

"Brush them away with Drain Punch!" Aoi cried. Sneasler sharpens her claw yet again, slashing away every vast string of the Bitter Malice. Just when most of those were utterly punched away, Sneasler shudders as one last particle surprises her.

Yet, she shook her head as one little particle will not stop her.

"Okay, now, Dire Claw once again!" Aoi continued. The Free Climb Pokemon brings her poisonous claws together, ready for another slash attempt.

"Extrasensory!" Shinku simply said. Zoroark's eyes turn cyan, extending her palms out. Sneasler was halted in her spot, a cyan outline freezing her completely.

"Sneas?!" She growls. Zoroark lets out a shrilled scream, flicking her arms even further. This causes Sneasler to be launched right at the grass, a loud thud heard upon impact.

Sneasler immediately fainted from the attack, laying down motionless. Zoroark even manages to calm down and creepily walk backwards, her mane shaking with each step she makes.

"Zoroark makes a quick dispatch against Sneasler, earning another round for Shinku!" Ingo inquired. Aoi brings out Sneasler's Poke Ball and returns the fainted Pokemon back.

"Even I know Shadow Claw won't properly work..." Aoi reminded.

"That's right." Shinku replied.

"Hm... he even knows his types." Cyllene mentioned.

"Okay, here goes nothing... Goodra, you're up!" Aoi exclaimed, throwing out another Poke Ball. Out comes a large dragon Pokemon, all purple and gooey with large horns swaying away from each other. Her smile was more relaxed, with her large thick tail just as tall as her body.

"That's the largest Goodra I've ever seen!" Adaman yelled.

"Its size is magnificent! It looks like the type that can topple down mountains in an instant!" Laventon shouted along.

"Okay, Zoroark, Dark Pulse!" Shinku commanded. A black mixed energy begins forming from Zoroark's mouth, and she throws it immediately.

"Protect yourself with Shelter!" Aoi shouted. Goodra retreats into her thick shell, the Dark Pulse coming in contact as she retreats. After the impact of that hit, Goodra comes back out as her shell shines like no tomorrow.

"Not even a scratch... okay, Zoroark, use Shadow Ball again!" Shinku grunted. The Baneful Fox Pokemon once again charges up her next attack, wasting no time in throwing it once it was at its full power.

Goodra closes her eyes as the attack lands on her head on. Yet, thanks to the previously used Shelter, Goodra roars as she was left without a dent.

"Dragon Pulse!" Aoi yelled. That familiar energy forms from Goodra's mouth and when she unleashed it, it was larger unlike anything ever seen before.

"Use Extrasensory to protect yourself!" Shinku ordered. The cyan glow returns from Zoroark once again. She extends her claws using this energy to cut the Dragon Pulse in half, with her bane flinging itself backwards as if she was in a hurricane.

Her eyes turn back to normal as soon as the Dragon Pulse was gone.

"Goodra, use an Agile Style Iron Head!" Aoi exclaimed. A silver plating appears from the Shell Bunker Pokemon's head. A cyan outline appears from her as she quickly waddles towards Zoroark.

Within a couple seconds, Goodra flings her head below Zoroark and launches her in the air, screaming as she was flailing around from the launch.

"And now, Hydro Pump!" Aoi continued. Goodra opens her mouth and lets out a quick, powerful stream of water. The impact of the move kept Zoroark in the air much longer than before.

When the Baneful Fox Pokemon finally landed, she sighed contentedly as her eyes swirled, unable to fight anymore.

"Goodra pulls it off and earns the victory against Zoroark, earning Aoi another victory to pull off!" Ingo yelled. Shinku returns the fainted Zoroark back to the Poke Ball, showing a small smile.

"Whoa... Sh-Shinku, I... I don't know what to say..." Aoi stammered.

"Dra, Goodra." His Pokemon joins in, not knowing what to say.

"It's okay, buddy. We can talk after the battle's over," Shinku assured, "Even a couple fainted Pokemon won't let me down! Torterra, you're next!"

Shinku throws out another Pokemon, ultimately sending out his next Pokemon. A huge tortoise Pokemon, dirt-like but covered with grass and two spikes on each side of his face, growls as he stomps the ground. The tree on top of his huge back shakes around.

"Now, use an Agile Style Leaf Blade!" Shinku exclaimed. Torterra rushes over, glowing cyan for a second as the spikes along his face grew larger and turned green. Goodra once again closes her eyes and tanks the hit with ease.

"Great! Now, use Outrage and push Goodra back!" Shinku continued. The Continent Pokemon roars as a large dragon-esque energy erupts from him. He tackles Goodra with all his strength, which makes the Dragon type Pokemon slide back a tiny bit.

"Goodra, use Dragon Pulse!" Aoi shouted. Goodra hums as similar dragon energy formed from her mouth, unleashing it in an instant. Torterra directly tanks the hit, closing his eyes as it comes towards him.

However, the damage applied to him seems to have not done so much. He shakes it off as if it did nothing at all.

"Good thing Torterra is tanky," Shinku murmured, "Ahem... Bite!"

He immediately gets back into the battle, pointing over at Goodra. Torterra begins to run over at Goodra, opening his mouth as he got closer.

"Goodra, use Shelter and protect yourself!" Aoi exclaimed. Goodra once again retrets into her shell as soon as she gets the command. This ends in Torterra biting down on the shell, causing him to growl in pain and step back.

"Don't let it get to you, Torterra! Earth Power, go!" Shinku reminded. Torterra immediately opens his eyes and stomps the ground, which makes it shakes as the ground hits Goodra from below.

Since the Shell Bunker Pokemon was still in a good defense mode, this forced her to come out and shake a little bit, groaning from the impact of the super effective hit.

"Goodra! A-Are you okay?" Aoi asked.

"Goo... DRA!" His Pokemon's eyebrows furrow as she instantly gets back into the battle.

"O-Oh my! Uh, quick! Hydro Pump!" Aoi exclaimed. Goodra instantly unleashes the powerful water stream from her mouth.

"Slice through it with Leaf Blade!" Shinku commanded. Torterra turns his head to the side as one of the large spikes do all the work. He pushes forward as the incoming Hydro Pump attempted to push him back.

However, the power of this Leaf Blade allowed for Torterra to stand for much longer than he anticipated.

"Iron Head!" Aoi continued. Goodra forms the metallic plate from his head, running towards Torterra at a slower speed this time.

"Get ready, Torterra! Get ready to fight back!" Shinku warned.

"Terra!" The Continent Pokemon stands his ground when he saw Goodra get close. The attack landed directly, which made Torterra slide at a moment's notice. Yet, not a stumble was caused on this guy.

"Great job! Get Goodra back with Outrage!" Shinku yelled. Torterra is surrounded by the dragon-esque energy erupting from him yet again and he immediately charges towards his opponent.

Goodra's eyes widen as she makes a noise of utter shock. The Outraged Torterra slams Goodra with all his might, making her stumble and slide closer to Aoi.

"O-Oh dear... uh, Goodra, return!" Aoi stammered, grabbing his Poke Ball and returning Goodra back before any further damage has been done.

"This time, Aoi has come with a substitution! But he doesn't have any more Pokemon on him that can battle at this rate!" Ingo warned.

"Heh heh, seems like you learned a thing or two from me, huh?" Shinku chuckled. Aoi shyly nods, pulling out another Poke Ball after putting Goodra's back.

"Okay, Typhlosion, it's up to you!" Aoi shouted, throwing the current Poke Ball in his hands. Out comes another tall Pokemon that was yellow with a dark purple on his head and back. Around his neck were some purple spots. His eyes locked on his opponent with a calm smile.

"Ooh, so, Laventon wasn't messing around giving you a partner of your own." Shinku said.

"I did what I must." Laventon assured, shrugging his shoulders.

"Okay, Typhlosion, Infernal Parade!" Aoi commanded. A purple fire appeared behind his neck, with a smaller flame on each side of the wider fire. The Ghost Flame Pokemon circles his hand around as five purple fireballs dance around.

Typhlosion stops his humming and throws the fireballs at Torterra, who grunts in pain as all the fireballs hit him at once.

"Don't let it bring you down, Torterra! Quick, Agile Style Bite!" Shinku reminded. Torterra keeps his eyes open as he rushes at his opponent.

"Keep yourself under control using Calm Mind!" Aoi warned. Typhlosion calmly closes his eyes as he clasps his hands together, with the fire around his neck slowing down from his empty mind.

Torterra bites down on Typhlosion's body, who grunts in pain as everything had a cyan hue for a split second before turning back to normal as Torterra backs up.

"Now, Agile Style Leaf Blade! Get closer for an attack!" Shinku commanded. The spikes on each side of Torterra's face once again grow bigger, the green glow emanating through each of them.

"Typhlosion, use Shadow Ball!" Aoi shouted. The Ghost Flame Pokemon keeps his hands out as a large ghostly ball has gotten bigger by the minute. Once he opens his eyes, the ball was released.

"Cut it open!" Shinku exclaimed. Torterra stops and jumps in the air, turning his head to the side and destroying the incoming Shadow Ball.

"How he manages to pull that off is beyond me!" Zisu laughed.

"His battling skills are something else, but Aoi isn't too far off either." Adaman complimented.

"Typhlosion, Flamethrower!" Aoi yelled. The Ghost/Fire Pokemon stomps the ground as a purple fire stream erupts from his mouth.

"Fixate yourself on using Outrage!" Shinku warned. The dragon energy wraps itself around Torterra as the fire has gotten close. When it did, Torterra manages to push it back with all his strength.

However, even Torterra's weakness to fire won't help him in the state of this move. The Flamethrower gets the upper hand and leave some bruise marks upon Torterra's huge shell.

The fire around Typhlosion's neck grows slightly larger as he was about to take down the weakened Grass/Ground Pokemon.

"Okay, you ready Typhlosion? Strong Style Infernal Parade!" Aoi screamed. A red sparkle appeared from Typhlosion's eyes as he began to hum and form the purple fireballs again. They appeared larger than last time.

"We're not finished just yet! Strong Style Earth Power!" Shinku yelled. The same sparkle forms from Torterra's eyes as he slams on the ground, causing it to shake all around.

At the same time, Typhlosion unleashes the flurry of fireballs, resulting in smoke appearing from the impact of both Pokemon's attacks. The outcome left everyone restless, unsure what happened in the end.

On Shinku's side, Torterra growls in pain as he stumbles on his four legs, opting to keep balance. Aoi didn't have much luck, as he was left with a fainted Typhlosion laying down on his back.

"What a nail biter! Typhlosion wasn't able to take a hit from Earth Power, leaving Torterra to win this round!" Ingo shouted, just as shocked as the rest of the group. Aoi sighs once again as he returns his partner back.

"Even I am surprised at the outcome." Shinku says. Aoi nods once, shyly looking away as he grabs another Poke Ball.

"Okay, Goodra... it's all up to you!" The blue-haired boy said, throwing the Poke Ball back up. Out comes Goodra once again, who wasn't too hurt from the last bout.

"Hmm... I know what I must do here. Torterra, I'll call you back for now." Shinku rambled as he grabs a Poke Ball. Torterra lets out an affirmative noise as he lets the Survey Corps member return him.

"Not only did Aoi bring out Goodra for one last fight, Shinku is even calling back Torterra!" Ingo reminded. Shinku closes his eyes and smiles, gripping onto another Poke Ball, showing it to the group.

"I think it would be fair if my partner got a fighting chance," He said, "So that's exactly what I'm gonna do! Samurott, here we go!"

Shinku throws another Poke Ball with all his might. The Pokemon that comes out was on all four legs, yet large with a dark blue body and a white curly mustache. There was a black samurai helmet-like shell on his head, fit with red stripes and a clightly curled down. The same shell material was also on each of his front and hind legs.

"Okay, Samurott, raise your attacks with Swords Dance!" Shinku yelled. Gazing his red eyes over at the larger opponent, he roars with pride as he grabs two of the shells from each of his front legs, revealing them to be large and sword-like.

He clangs them together, feeling the energy pumped up inside him.

"Don't let it discourage you, Goodra! Use Dragon Pulse!" Aoi exclaimed. Goodra shakes her head sideways, ignoring the negative thoughts about to approach her. She then opens her mouth and unleashes the dragon-like energy.

"Get ready, Samurott!" Shinku warned. The Formidable Pokemon places his shells back in their spots, and closes his eyes when the attack comes directly at him.

Another cloud of light gray smoke occurs, covering the entire small battlefield in it. Goodra looks both ways, just as confused as her trainer.

"Now, Ceaseless Edge!" Shinku continued. A dark red glow can be described from the smoke, and it rushes towards Goodra at an alarming rate. Samurott slashes his shell once, and about five more slashes came from that same shell, hitting Goodra head on.

Samurott jumps back, but not before grunting in pain from the previous Dragon Pulse that hit him. Goodra lets out a pained noise as she scratches herself, earning very tiny shards that seem to be engraved on her gooey skin.

"Oh no..." Aoi whispered.

"Samurott, use Aqua Tail now!" Shinku shouted. Samurott's fin-like tail is swirled in a quick stream of water. He runs forward and jumps, quickly turning around to slam his tail onto his opponent.

"Quick, Goodra, protect yourself with Shelter!" Aoi exclaimed. Goodra immediately hides back in her shell, becoming the main source that Samurott attacks. With one quick slam, Samurott jumps back. Not a bruise in sight.

The shell shines and glistens through its temporary metallic gray, earning for Goodra to come back after the incoming attack was performed. She makes a small noise as the splinters from Samurott's previous attack was starting to get to her.

"Okay, let's see how this one will go... X-Scissor!" Shinku yelled. Samurott grabs two shell swords and wraps them in a green energy. Goodra wasn't able to avoid it, closing her eyes as Samurott cuts in an X formation.

"Push him back with Iron Head!" Aoi suggested. Goodra growls after she got hit by Samurott's X-Scissor, and slams her head onto him as soon as he made contact with the ground.

The Formidable Pokemon slides in place, feeling the impact start to get to him.

"I must say, it was nice to attack once Samurott was close to her after X-Scissor," Shinku complimented, "Very bulky strength. I like that."

This earns a small nod from Aoi, who felt eased up hearing that from Shinku. Completely touched. And with Goodra's defense seemingly getting stronger by the minute, that proves it to be a fact.

"Now, where were we? Oh yeah! Samurott, Agile Style Swords Dance! Let us end this!" Shinku yelled. Samurott nods once, making an affirmative noise as he clangs his swords together, with the last clang wrapping that field in that same cyan for a second before the Water/Dark type Pokemon places his swords back.

"And now Aqua Tail!" Shinku continued. Samurott's tail catches itself in water once again, rushing towards Goodra with the upcoming attack.

"Goodra, use Hydro Pump! F-Fight the attack as best you can!" Aoi stuttered. Goodra releases her own Water type attack, attempting to stop Samurott in place. For the most part, it turned out to work.

While the move did stop Samurott from getting closer, it did nothing less than to provide as a distraction, earning a smirk from Shinku.

"Just as I thought. Samurott, quickly! Aqua Tail one more time!" He chuckled. The Formidable Pokemon shakes off the attack, slamming Goodra immediately with his water-covered tail.

"A-Agile Style Dragon Pulse!" Aoi exclaimed. Goodra's eyes glow cyan for a split second before she releases the dragon beam, albeit a little smaller than usual. Samurott easily takes the hit, but it did cause him to stumble in place for a moment.

"Now use Iron Head!" Aoi continued. The Shell Bunker Pokemon rushes towards Samurott with her silver plating head.

"Jump up and use an Agile Style Ceaseless Edge from behind!" Shinku yelled. Samurott uses his hind legs to boost himself from Goodra's head when the opportunity struck. He scurries back and grabs his right shell sword, slashing Goodra at a rapid pace.

The Steel/Dragon Pokemon groans in pain, stomping the ground as the splinters started to set back in again.

"And now, Samurott! Finish this! Strong Style Aqua Tail!" Shinku shouted. The water around Samurott's tail grows bigger and even sways around quicker. Goodra stumbles even more as Samurott attacks from behind, a red glow surrounding the room for one second before it goes away.

Samurott begins pacing around, observing Goodra from all sides. She does nothing but groan as the splinters were still settling in. The Shell Bunker Pokemon put up quite a fight against a type matchup not possibly well for a Water type.

Goodra turns around, ready to fight some more. But as the splinters suddenly disappeared, Goodra's eyes swirl as she falls to the ground on her side, opting Samurott to back up and nod once.

"Goodra has finally fallen to a combination of Samurott's attacks!" Ingo noted, "Battle decided! Our winner is Shinku!"

Shinku lets out a small sigh, grabbing Samurott's Poke Ball and returning his starter back. Aoi does the same to Goodra, in which the former stares at Shinku as he walks towards him.

"You put up quite a fight. I'm very proud of you." The Survey Corps member commented.

"Yeah, but... I-I didn't beat you..." Aoi sighed.

"I don't think that mattered." Irida assured, as she and Adaman approach from different sides.

"You managed to take down two of Shinku's Pokemon. A feat that some people aren't able to do." The Diamond Clan leader chimed in. Aoi nods again, getting that touchiness feeling filling him up inside.

"What's the final verdict, Captain? Is he in?" Laventon questioned in a concerned tone. Cyllene closes her eyes as she hums under her breath. After a few seconds, her stoic eyes open back up and she approaches the group.

"Aoi... you are accepted into the Galaxy Expedition Team's Survey Corps," She finalized, "While you didn't win the battle, you tried your best and managed an outcome that otherwise wouldn't be possible."

"Wait... r-really? I'm in...?" Aoi asks. Cyllene simply nods as she turns towards Shinku, who was overjoyed at Cyllene's response.

"It's true that Shinku has gotten stronger over time and has had experiences irrideemable to many," She continued, "However, with a team like yours... perhaps you can learn a thing or two from Shinku as you begin to observe Pokemon."

"Congratulations, Aoi! Welcome to the Survey Corps!" Laventon cheered.

"You did really great! I'm really glad I got to participate in that trail for you." Shinku added.

"Th-Thank you..." Aoi said quietly, all while showing a small smile.

"Ooh, it seems like he's getting more comfortable around you, Shinku." Laventon pointed out.

"Heheh, yep!" Shinku giggles.

"Say, Aoi... while you're at it, I'd say you should head with Shinku to the commander's office of the Galaxy Team Headquarters," Cyllene requested, "Have the commander get to know you a bit before you head out. I will prepare a specially designed outfit to use for your expeditions."

"Let's go, Aoi." Shinku opted. Aoi lets out another nod, eyes raising up a bit as Shinku holds his hand. The others follow right behind to keep both boys out of harm's way.

*scene: Galaxy Expedition Team, commander's office*

Only Shinku and Aoi head upstairs together while the others wait by for the upcoming response. Upon entering the small room, the two boys were greeted by a taller man with pale skin and large bushy eyebrows, going well together with a mustache unlike any pattern seen before. He had short black hair that is spikier on the back. His clothing consisted of a black long-sleeve kimono with a large cloudy pattern on the robe. He wore wooden flip-flops and a black jacket without tucking his arms into it, letting the sleeves slim by.

The same logo for the Galaxy Team was engraved onto this jacket. As the two boys made it up the stairs, Shinku was the first to salute playfully.

"I'm here, Commander Kamado! With our newest recruit!" He cheers, placing a hand on Aoi's back, startling him slightly. Kamado places a hand on his hip, raising an eyebrow at Shinku's cheer.

"Newest recruit, you say? Well, there's no time like the present after all!" The man exclaimed. He turns towards Aoi, who hasn't kept his gaze off of him.

"What's your name, kid?" Kamado asked.

"Aoi, sir..." Aoi said quietly.

"Hrmm! A quiet one, at that," Kamado noted, "I've barely gotten tell of your arrival. I haven't been brief at the slightest about your unexpected arrival! How have you gotten tell about your acquisition to the Galaxy Expedition Team?"

"I kid you not, commander. Aoi's skills about Pokemon are unlike anything you've seen before. Even when he fell from the sky." Shinku assured. Kamado crosses his arms, nodding along at Shinku's compliment for his new friend.

"Fell from the sky, just like the tale from you? I'm listening." The commander said.

"You see, Aoi has a team of mighty Pokemon that have traveled with him," Shinku explained, "When Professor Laventon and I decided to have him test to join the Survey Corps, his first trial was to battle me. As one might expect, I won. But Aoi has potential, taking down two of my Pokemon with equal strength."

"Y-Yes. It's true." Aoi added.

"Hmph... members of the Survey Corps have been out observing Pokemon and have come out with experiences not suited for a daily resident," Kamado rambled, "And yet, this stranger has been with Pokemon longer than one might imagine after falling from a rift in space-time! Is that so?"

"Mm hmm." Aoi hummed as he nods. Kamado looks straight at Aoi, almost a suspicious look as he squints his eyebrows.

"Your experiences with Pokemon, from what Shinku told me, are admirable," Kamado commented, "However, that doesn't deny the fact that Pokemon are terrifying creatures. No one has been able to come out unscathed."

"Don't worry, sir. Pokemon are our friends," Aoi reminded, "With the right proper care, they can be your lifetime partner. I've heard the people of this village are still adjusting to Pokemon... but it's nothing to worry over."

Even Shinku was shockede at Aoi's wise message. Kamado's mouth was left agape, then closes his eyes as the words travel around his head. With a quiet grunt, he nods once and stomps the ground, determined as all can be.

"Well, you got guts, kid!" He complimented, "Now, as per your acquisition to the Survey Corps, allow me to introduce myself! I am Kamado, commander of the Galaxy Expedition Team! Your skillset to Pokemon battling and catching can prove to be useful for us!"

"You see, Aoi," Shinku whispered, "The Survey Corps are tasted with observing Pokemon so we can live alongside them. That's where Laventon's dream about a fully written Pokedex so we know everything we can about the Pokemon in Hisui."

"Ohh..." Aoi said.

"And a quick reminder, Aoi, is that outsiders not said to be around here will gain suspicion all around you," Kamado warned, "Especially as you fell out of the space-time rift, don't expect to be greeted with friendly eyes right off the bat. However, after Shinku's heroic reputation, that shall not be the case!"

"Yes, sir. I understand." Aoi responded.

"Now, if we're dead set on introductions and qualities... come at me!" Kamado demanded, "Use all your strength and see if you can take me on!"

He spreads his arms out as his feet plant into the ground, beckoning a move from Aoi. Shinku gulps, shuddering at the disturbing thoughts in his head. Aoi takes a deep breath and burrows his eyebrows to showcase his determination.

"Aoi, please don't." Shinku pleads quickly. Aoi completely ignored Shinku's please and charges right at Kamado. The taller man takes the blow from Aoi, and he quickly picks the younger boy up and throw him at the floor.

The blue-haired boy groans from the impact, sitting up as his head spun around. Shinku face palms, quietly groaning at the commander's sumo attempt. With a growl, Shinku faces his current commander.

"Sir, is that really necessary?" He asked.

"It's an act of discipline, Shinku!" Kamado exclaimed, "Out in the world, Pokemon can attack from all sides, so people roaming around must prepare to take any hit imaginable to humankind!"

The commander turns back towards Aoi, who quickly got up and dusts himself off after that rigorous sumo throw.

"Although, he proved to show dedication in trying to pick me up himself," Kamado mentioned, "Just like Shinku, your throwing technique must be further enabled. However, your dedication will prove to be a mighty asset, even with the Pokemon by your side."

"O-Oh." Aoi stammered.

"Shinku, you picked a good one," Kamado chuckled, "See to it that he sticks by your side during your observations outside of the village."

"You can count on me, commander!" Shinku replied, saluting once again.

"Just as I expected from a trusted member of the Survey Corps!" Kamado yelled, "Now, Aoi, Shinku will be telling you what to do for your first mission. Listen carefully and you will prove to be trusted throughout Jubilife Village and move above the ranks."

"Y-Yes sir!" Aoi exclaimed.

"Now, let's get going, Aoi." Shinku offered, earning a simple nod from his blue-haired friend before they exit the office together.

A short amount of time has passed since the whole trial. Everyone was offering their heartfelt congratulations to Aoi for managing to prevail as best he could and join the team. Cyllene offered the complimentary uniform for Galaxy Team members. It's like the same exact one that Shinku wore when he first joined the team.

Everyone was back to doing their normal thing, wheras Shinku and Aoi were outside, sending out all their Pokemon so they can heal up. Shinku helped by giving Aoi some Potions to heal his Pokemon, which they all greatfully appreciate.

Once every Pokemon was healed back up, the two Survey Corps members return all of their Pokemon. Shinku approaches Aoi and begins to speak, with the latter listening intently. But before Shinku said a word...

"Ah, there you two are!" A chipper voice said. Shinku recognized it immediately as a grin curves along his face. Footsteps can be heard getting louder as a man approaches. That man turned out to be none other than Volo.

"Volo!" Shinku cheered.

"You had me worried sick when you brought your new friend back here, so I decided to check up on you!" Volo explained, "Anyways, what say you, new guy? How is your arm feeling?"

"Uh... j-just fine, sir. I... I joined the S-Survey Corps now..." Aoi said.

"You've actually joined the team?! My oh my, you are coming along quite well!" Volo complimented, a surprised expression replacing his happy-go-lucky one he always goes around with.

"His trial was to battle me, and while I still won, he didn't give up. His dedication was the reason Cyllene and Kamado accepted his acquisition." Shinku reminded. Volo grins along, nodding as he shows his happy smile.

"Well, my heartfelt congratulations to you, my sky-fallen friend!" Volo chuckled, "I'm Volo of the Ginkgo Guild: your go-to choice for all your mercentile needs in Hisui! I thought we can have a formal greeting after your emergency."

"I-It's okay..." Aoi whispered, "S-So, uh... what are we gonna do now?"

"I'm glad you asked!" Volo replied, which earns a more confused look from the shy boy.

"Well, our mission is going to be with Volo! Despite being a merchant, he has experience with mythology!" Shinku said, which Volo nods along to.

"O-Oh. We're teaming up with Volo? What for...?" Aoi asked.

"You see, Shinku has legendary artifacts known to be connected to an all-encompassing diety," Volo explained, "The creator of the entire world: Arceus. Shinku and I are deadset on a goal to find these plates and uncover the mysteries from the almighty creator himself!"

Aoi listened with each word, unsure how to process all the thoughts buzzing around his head. Shinku gently pats Aoi's back, which was not able to change Aoi's current expression.

Shinku then reaches into his satchel and grabs a pink square tablet. Aoi's eyes glistened with curiosity, staring at the tablet from all sides.

"All the noble Pokemon I've encountered have a plate passed down from a long, long time ago," Shinku reminded, "Now we're on a goal to find the other plates that are missing."

"S... Sounds like fun! I'll h-help join you guys and look for those plates..." Aoi agreed.

"Glad to hear it!" Shinku cheered.

"Excellent! It's always great to have a helping hand!" Volo chimed in.

"Th-Thanks..." Aoi stammered.

"Now, are we ready to truly begin our mission?" Shinku asked, pumping his fist through a determined smile on his face.

"Yes, we must make haste! Let's go back to the Obsidian Fieldlands and continue our research there!" Volo requested, "Before our encounter with Aoi, I have a thought that those plates could be close by!"

"Sounds... specific." Aoi said.

"Yes, absolutely. But trust me when I say Volo has a good idea on what he's doing." Shinku assured. Aoi nods yet again, agreeing wholeheartedly with Shinku's statement.

"Now, onward we go!" Volo cheered. He sticks by the two younger boys as they all stick together during their walk. They head up to the exit to the village, beginning their departure.

Aoi's nervousness was getting the best of him. He was on a brand new journey and unable to contain the emotions damaging him severely. However, after making a new friend, battling with all his might, and even joining the Survey Corps...

What could go wrong for Aoi and his friends?
