Warnings: Tsukauchi/Izuku, soul parents, soulmates, PTSD, time travel, suicidal thoughts

...

Dropping the bag off in the main room he limped towards the meeting room. Dust coated everything and the heat was nearly unbearable in the heavy combat jacket he wore. The moment he had entered their temporary headquarters Izuku had unzipped it. Not that it had helped much. There was no breeze not even the faintest whisper of it. The air was eerily still as if waiting for something.

Waiting for them if he had to guess. Izuku had killed a Black Nomu that morning while on a supply run. In the silence of their world the gunshot rang out for miles. He had been lucky it was only a single nomu instead of a pack. Like all of the survivors, he only carried what was currently in his weapon. This prevented any hard losses if someone was captured or killed.

At this point, there were so few of them left that any loss of life was hard on them. Out of the 35 that originally made them up only 11 were left. One Medusan team is made up of seven members, Doctor Morris Panov a psychiatrist, Alexander Conklin and David Abbott both former CIA intelligence officers, and Ilich Ramírez Sánchez also known as Carlos the Jackel.

Jackal as he preferred to be known by had been their enemy until the world ended. He and Izuku had been trying to kill each other for years. Izuku because he served CIRO and sought to bring down Carlos. Jackal because he thought Jason Bourne the name Izuku had used to be a killer for hire was a fake. Not that he was wrong. The identity of Jason Bourne only took credit for the killings. That did not mean Izuku was weak, however. He had gone through a hellish war because his file said he was quirkless and had come out mostly intact. His mind not so much. Delta had come out of the war and even Alex who was an old friend feared that side of him.

Like most of them, he and Jackal set aside their differences after the Fall. Tomura Shigaraki, leader of the League of Villains had let loose more Nomus than the world had seen before. It wasn't just in Japan either. The attacks happened in all the major countries of the world. Japan, Russia, Great Britain, and America just to name a few. Only the heroes of Japan had known something about them. That knowledge did not save them.

Nuclear Bombs had been dropped in the effort to destroy the nomu in many countries. It had worked on some of them. Other nomus it had not worked and even seemed to force them to evolve. Where they had some edge on the creatures before it was now lost. They could reproduce and some could even infect. They hunted to kill and destroy.

Billions of humans had died since the Fall began. Alex estimated that there were only a few thousand left. Even if they destroyed all of the nomu what was the point anymore? The destruction was too much to come back from.

There were times when Izuku thought it would be better if he just disappeared one day. Alex would refuse to believe he was dead without a body. Even when they knew how unlikely it was that he was alive. Echo and Charlie would know and accept the truth. Alpha, Bravo, Foxtrot, and Gamma would agree with Alex. Panov would know why he did it and that it was not an accident or twist of fate. It was the doctor who forced him to keep going when he lost all of his soul marks. The final being his soulmate mark who died in the Fall.

His soulparent had died before when he was supposed to be in high school. Only his men kept him from ending everything as they were out in the middle of the Tam Quan's jungle. They had been on a rescue mission for Gordon Webb who treated him like a brother. Echo had disarmed him and with the help of Bravo pinned him to the ground.

To this day he remembered the words that Echo had spoken, "Listen to me, Delta! I know it hurts to lose your soul parents. Even when you haven't met them it feels as if your soul is being torn into tiny pieces. But you cannot focus on that now. We need you otherwise we will all die."

That had forced him to get ahold of himself and lead the others out. When they returned to Basecamp Echo had not allowed him out of his sight. It had taken weeks for him to convince Echo that he wasn't going to commit suicide.

At the door to the meeting room, Izuku listened. He could hear the voices of his men and Alex. Alex did not sound happy in the slightest. In fact, he sounded as if he wanted to put someone's head through the wall. What in the world had been said to him?

Sighing he knocked on the door. Better to stop Alex from pissing his men off even more. Moral had been low as it was.

"Come in," came Alex's tired voice.

Izuku entered and as he expected two of his men were all standing around a map. The other five were against the wall watching with cold eyes. At the head of the table that held the map was a man of medium height with shaggy irregularly cut dark brown hair and green eyes. He wore a tattered jacket with a patched shirt and cargo pants. This was Alexander Conklin.

Next to him was a taller man over six feet in height. He had irregularly cut salt and pepper hair with grey-blue eyes. He wore a similar jacket and shirt that was only in slightly better shape than Alex's. This was David Abbott.

Abbott's eyes held a considering light in them when they saw who had entered. It made Izuku stiffen with uncertainty. He always had a difficult time reading Abbott. Some of his men joked that the man had been carved from stone and was given life from a quirk. Which was ridiculous there weren't any quirks that could do such a thing.

Izuku asked cautiously, "What's happening?"

Alex asked not answering, "Did the supply run go well?"

Izuku shrugged, "As well as can be expected. Don't change the topic. What's happening?"

Alex sighed before looming at Abbott who said, "We are making plans for a raid. One that could change everything."

"What do you mean?"

It was Echo who growled, "They want to send someone into the past. To before the Fall."

What the fuck?

"In short yes. In long we need to send two people back who have the strongest chance of stopping Shigaraki."

Oh for the love of. Time travel was impossible and he was about to say so then paused. There were stranger quirks out there. His own was case and point.

Izuku had a quirk that could steal the good luck of anyone he came into contact with. It was not restricted to five points of contact. Any physical contact at all would cause it to activate.

Abbott said giving him a meaningful look, "Your name has come up as a possible choice."

"Absolutely not," denied Izuku.

Alex threw up his hands as he stated, "Told you. We are lucky he is still here at all. There is no way Delta would agree to this plan."

Abbott gave Alex a withering look, "He has yet to hear the plan, Conklin. There is a reason why he was the first choice."

Izuku folded his arms across his chest as he reiterated, "I don't need to know the plan. The answer is absolutely not. Abbott, I'm tired and I'm done fighting."

Abbott looked back at him and his hard face softened after a moment. He could see the exhaustion that went straight into his soul. Each of them had a similar but it was the worst in Izuku. Sessions, when they could be afforded, were not helping.

Then he said, "Then you will help with the infiltration and get the two to the room."

"What room?"

Abbott smiled, "Before we moved to this location we were able to put two of whom we had under our protection in a safe house. They have quirks that can only be used together and only once. The problem is said the safe house is right in the middle of white nomu territory now."

Izuku glanced at Echo and his second said, "There are a nest two blocks away. It would be difficult to get in but with a full team and Jackal, it's not impossible. The problem is those who don't travel to the past getting out."

Izuku moved so he could stand in front of the map and examined it. The area was what used to be Musutafu near the water. A pin showed where they thought the nest was. It was far closer to the safe house than he would have preferred. Getting the exact location was impossible without going in.

Nests were typically made up of four to five nomu but could be upwards of ten if they were truly unlucky. To have the best chance for success Izuku would need to steal some luck. It would have to be from someone who wasn't going. Which meant they would need to leave at least one person behind.

Taking a breath he thought over their options of who to send. If he only considered the combat side of things sending two Medusans made sense. They would be able to track, find, and kill Shigaraki fairly easily. The problem was that most of them did not have the ability to make a repore with authorities. They would end up being put on trial for murder without the public ever knowing the truth.

Echo and Jackal were the best in terms of ability outside of himself. Though Echo had the best human-to-human skills. Jackal did better with the older crowd as he did his best to make their lives comfortable while they acted as his information network. Any younger than 50 though and you were more likely to end up with a bullet in your throat than not.

If they wanted to send a well-rounded member it should be Abbott or Alex. Both men were longstanding field agents and had been the best in their prime. The problem was Alex had a bad leg. Izuku didn't know the full story behind it but sending him back wouldn't help. That leg would keep him mostly out of field operations.

On the other hand, Abbott was simply old. His mind was as sharp as ever but he was pushing 73 this year. He thought at least keeping track of days was difficult. It was only their continual defense of the man who kept him alive. Useful for the information he had in his head. As he proved with this mission.

The final option was Panov. The man was tall and lean with a calming quirk that only required direct contact. Unlike Izuku he could turn it on and off as he pleased. Panov was the calmest of them all. If anyone should go it was him. Breathing in he considered. As he let it go he made his decision.

Meeting Alex's eyes he said stubbornly, "I have made a decision. Panov and Echo should go."

Abbott asked curious, "Why them?"

Izuku explained his thoughts n a no-nonsense tone.
