"Operation Strix- a plan to infiltrate Donovan Desmond's inner circle and uncover secrets about the Unity Party- was going poorly. Scratch that, downright disastrous!
"All this work of acquiring a family and even making contact with Donovan has led to a dead end. Plan B- to get Anya to befriend Damian Desmond- is practically in the gutter now, seeing as she and Damian hate each other's guts. Gah! What do I do what do I do?"
Anya was getting a headache just listening to Loid's thoughts, swirling faster than he was rubbing his temples.
"Loid? Do you want some tea? Work must be stressful..." Gently cooed Yor, a twinge of concern in her eyes. She didn't have to be a mind reader to sense his tension. Loid waved her off dismissively.
"Thank you, but no. However, I would love it if you took Anya to the bus for school, if you don't mind. I need to collect my thoughts for work."
"Ah yes, the life of a doctor must be very stressful." Yor concluded as she helped Anya with her shoes.
"Indeed. Day and night I think about my patients, it can be exhausting…"
"Papa is a big liar." Anya thought once again as she left with Yor for the bus. But the morning bustle of thoughts made Anya realize something…
"If papa can't make Plan B work, then… Ah! No more family! No more apartment! Then Bond and me will be sleeping in a box! Nooooo!"
"What are you sniffling about?" Becky's eyes peered across to Anya as the poor pink haired girl lay across the classroom table. "Are you sick? In the drama I'm watching with mother, every time a young lady is sick it means she's-"
"Becky! I need your help! I gotta get invited to Sy-on boy's house- TODAY!" Anya bemoaned, shaking Becky's shoulders! Her eyes looked teary; Becky could tell this must be serious.
"I don't understand your admiration for him, but I will help you in any way I can!" Her enthusiasm gave Anya hope! "Do you want to go to his house to see all his cool stuff? So that you can decide whether or not his personality is worth it?"
"Huh? No." Anya didn't quite understand what Becky meant by that. "I just wanna hang out with him."
With sparkles in her eyes, Becky swooned.
"Oh so you do like him for who he is! How romantic! How grown up! Okay, so then why not invite him to your house?"
It took Anya a couple seconds before the idea hit her like a truck. Invite Sy-on boy to her house! Why didn't she think of that!?
"Okay thanks Becky I'ma gonna do that!" Determination ran through her body as Anya dashed off to the direction of Sy-on boy, quick before class started!
Bolting up to the top desks where Sy-on boy sat with his lackeys, Anya approached out of breath. Noticing her point a finger at his face, Damian scooted around a little too eagerly. And there she was, the cutest girl in the whole entire school.
"U-Uh! Uggo! What are you doing here?!" Damian asked with a reddish glow in his collar. Why his face turned that color without his permission was still a mystery to him.
"Sy-on boy!" Her emerald green eyes stared into his soul. "I want you to have a play date with me at my house!"
Out of all the things Damian expected to hear, that was not it. A… play date? As in… a date?! She was so forward! He didn't know how to respond-!
"Like boss man would want to hang out with you, commoner!"
"Yeah! You think he'd want to hang out in your family's tiny apartment when he lived in a mansion?!"
"You're stupid thinking he'd say yes, hahahaha!"
The lackey's comments made Anya reel back. Of course this was stupid! Her family's apartment is probably the size of one of Sy-on boy's play rooms! Or his bathroom… Man she didn't think this through very well—
"Why are they talking for me? What if I wanted to go!? They don't know what I'd say!"
"Huh?" Anya puzzled over the thoughts she was hearing, coming from Sy-on boy himself! Does that mean… he would like to go?
Pointing at him once again, Anya declared,
"Meet me at the bus stop after school and we'll go to my house together!"
Before Damian could get a word in, the teacher came through the doors signaling the start of class. Anya hopped so cutely back to her seat and all Damian could do was stare. She knows it's a stupid idea, right? He could never just go to someone's house out of the blue, he's got his school schedule and…
Why did his chest feel so tight right now?
