Prompt: After countless adventures, you and your partner finally evolve! However you're having trouble adapting to your new body and its newfound abilities. And it's even starting to have a negative effect on your relationship with your partner... How can you fix this?
The energies faded as my glow dissipated and I stepped forward, letting out a mighty roar to celebrate. Joshua looked at me in awe, his starry eyes glancing up and down my blackish gray scales. I looked down at my partner with a smile.
"So, how do you feel?" he asked me as he went to me and gave a hearty slap on my belly.
I bent over forwards, holding my stomach as I cried in mocking pain. "Argh, all the regret!" I went on my knees and landed on the side. "My scales have gone weak and soft so a simple bump by a dewott can fell me!"
"Laying it a bit thick, aren't you?" His smile was still plastered on his face as he circled me.
"Let me have a bit of fun." I chuckled as I got back up. "I got huge!"
"How does it feel otherwise?"
I flexed my arms and slammed my tail into the ground, making Joshua bounce a bit upon impact. "This strength..." I stomped the ground and the earth split apart in every direction, the ground shifting as jagged pieces of rock emerged from the cracks. "I feel like I could take the world right now."
"That's all fine and dandy..." I hadn't noticed that Joshua had clung himself to my tail until he had let go. "but could you PLEASE not use Earthquake when I'm right next to you."
"Oh, sorry. Got carried away in the moment."
"Hehe, don't worry about it." Joshua took a look at the destruction I had caused in the three minutes I had been a haxorus. "With that strength, and that height, you can do a lot of heavy lifting."
"I feel like suplexing a boulder." I heard a nervous laughter from Joshua but thought nothing of it as we headed home.
"... So..." I looked at the entrance to our small, cozy home. "This will be a problem."
"How so?" Joshua entered our humble abode. "Just duck."
"QUACK!"
Joshua stared at me. "What is with you today?"
"It's this... power. This energy." I raised my arm and clenched my hand into a fist. "I just... How can I explain?" The surge of power inside of me continued to flow through my body. "The difference is just so large."
"What does that have to do with the quacking?"
I giggled. "You did say 'duck'".
Joshua groaned as I followed him inside. I stood hunched over as I entered, and Joshua could finally see my problem. "Okay... That IS a problem."
I slowly huddled forward. "Never thought how small this place was until just now."
"That along with your power high making you absolutely silly..." He sighed as he sat down at the table. "How can we fix this?"
"Guess we have to make a new home... But first," I headed for the food storage. "I bet we're both hungry." I turned to grab some food when I could feel my tail collide with something, and then heard Joshua yell out. I turned my head to see the table flipped and Joshua rolling into the wall. "AAAH! SORRY!" I turned around, and before I realized what I had just done, my tail collided into the shelves knocking down everything standing on them. "Crap..." I was still focused on my partner and moved towards him.
"EMMA, DON'T!" Joshua yelled out, but it was too late, as I couldn't stop myself and ran straight into him, part of my axe face cutting straight through the wall.
"Ohgod. Joshua, I'm sorry!" I apologized as I pulled my face out of the wall, and backed up, giving the poor table another accidental thrashing.
"Out..."
"Excuse me?"
Joshua got up, looking... angry? "I said, get out."
"I'm so sorry."
"I don't care that you are sorry. Get out before you wreck the entire building!" I had never seen Joshua be that upset about anything.
"Are you okay?" I said, still worried about him.
"ARE YOU DEAF?! GET OUT, EMMA!" he yelled at me. "AND DON'T COME BACK BEFORE YOU GET CONTROL OF THAT DISASTER OF A BODY!"
Within a second I was already halfway outside, though I stopped, looking over my shoulder. "Sorry."
"Don't linger." I could see tears in his eyes. "Don't make this harder on me!"
With that, I slumped out, not sure where to go.
Conkeldurr, the pokemon who had made our home to begin with, opened his door after I had knocked. He took a step back as he saw me, but he quickly realized who I was. "Oh, you evolved today? Come in Emma... Uh, I mean..."
I raised my hand and he stopped his sentence prematurely. "Don't correct yourself, I'm not feeling it today."
"What happened?" he asked as he motioned me to enter. "Because you don't look so well."
"I... I might have halfway wrecked our house." I let out a pained laugh as I said it, as I could still see Joshua's angry glare going straight into my soul.
"Well, it wasn't made with this increased size in mind." Conkeldurr said as he brought out another chair for me to sit on. "Tea? Coffee?"
"Whatever you're in the mood for." I replied.
"So you're staying out for now?" he asked as he pulled out a kettle.
"He kicked me out..." I sighed. "I have never seen him that angry, but within those ten seconds..." I trailed off, not sure if I could bring myself to finish that sentence.
"Him, angry?" He scratched his chin. "That's a new one. Well..." He shook his head. "At least a new one when directed at you. I have felt his, and yours, back when."
"You and the timburr DID scam us." I pointed out.
"And we have been trying to make amends ever since." He smiled.
"You're the reason why Paradise is as big as it is. I think you have done more than enough to redeem yourselves." He placed a cup of tea in front of me.
"It might have been Joshua's passion project, but it's also become a darling of mine." He took a sip of the tea. "Hot!" I quietly chuckled, but he seemed to have noticed. "As long as you two can keep going, I will continue to help out."
"Don't think you can help with this problem..." I grumbled as I took a sip of the tea myself. "This is more of a personal problem..."
"Nonsense." He slammed his hand on the table. "If I have to be honest, I saw this problem coming ages ago, and have been working on a solution since."
"You have a solution to me being extremely strong, but clumsy and not used to my evolved body?" He had got to be lying.
"Well... Maybe not entirely like that." He got up from the table and went for a drawer. "But it's also partially a size problem, is it not?"
"I guess?"
He returned to the table with a piece of parchment in his hand. He folded it out, showing me the schematics in here. "Don't worry about the cost, this is me doing a proper thank you for bringing me hope, and saving the world."
I looked at the plans lying in front of me. "I can't... WE can't just... That is too much."
"Oh, stop worrying about it. For once, let us help you, instead of the other way around." He slammed a palm on his chest as he puffed up.
"I... I don't know what to say..." I paused for a second. "Well, aside from 'Thank you.'"
"No problem. Let me kick your partner out tomorrow to start on this, and you find one of the musketeers and help them train you up." He folded the schematics back up. "And when you return, the Heart of Paradise will be ready for both of you."
"How are you going to kick him out?" I asked him.
"Depends. How damaged is the building?" He smiled with confidence.
"Well, I did slice up a bit of the wall."
"I can work with that. Though I would stay away from here for a while. He probably won't take it well when I tell him that your damage could make the house collapse at any minute." He chuckled as he returned the drawing to the drawer.
"Great, just make him even more angry at me." My mood had improved. "Again, thank you."
"No, Emma. Thank you."
