A/N: So I've been wanting to write this scene for a long time and I finally just decided to do it. I would love to add on, but I can't think of exactly what to do. If you have any ideas or suggestions please tell me in a review! This is extremely short (sorry about that).Anyway, I hope you like it!
This story contains:
Sex: kissing (but, it's romance; so what did you expect)
(The first section (in bold) is the last page in Viking Quest: The Raider's Promise.)
"I love you, Bree," Mikkel said, his voice stronger now.
"I love you, Mikkel." The words felt strange on Bree's lips, but then they didn't. How often in these days since returning home had she thought them to herself? And now her home would take in the world. Her home would be wherever she and Mikkel were.
Reaching out, he touched the side of her face. "I love you, Briana," he said again. "Will you marry me?"
With the sunlight full upon them and her gaze meeting Mikkel's, Bree gave her answer. "Yes, yes, yes!"
Then Mikkel glanced beyond her. "Look!" He said softly.
As the sun rose over the water, they could see the far places—the distant blue mountains across the Irish Sea.
"It's Wales," Bree told him.
"I've never been there," Mikkel answered. "Would you like to go?"
Bree smiled. "At the right time," she said.
Mikkel turned to face Bree, a smile on his face. He looked happier than Bree had ever seen him. His face radiated with love and joy. He reached his right hand out and brushed away a loose strand of Bree's red hair from her face, but instead of bringing his hand back down, he let it gently caress the side of her face. Bree felt her heartbeat quicken at his touch. He brought his left hand up to the other side of her face. Then, holding her face lovingly in his hands, he leaned down and kissed her.
The moment that Bree felt Mikkel's lips make contact with hers, she felt a warm, tingling sensation spreading throughout her body. She felt butterflies in stomach, but ignored them; she wasn't going to let go of Mikkel for the world. Instead, she reached up and wrapped her hands around the back of his head. She felt her fingers sink into the his warm, curly, blond hair.
It was strange, that what someone could never have paid her enough to do mere weeks before, she now wished she would never have to stop. She hadn't realized just how much love she felt towards Mikkel until that moment, with their arms wrapped around each other and their lips temporarily joined. Bree wished that they could stay like that forever.
When they finally drew apart, they just stood there, gazing into each other's eyes, sunlight dancing across their faces. Both of their eyes were overflowing with love for the other person. Bree leaned into Mikkel's chest, wrapping her arms around his neck and feeling his heart beat steadily against the side of her face. She had never felt more safe or secure then she did in that moment.
~~~~~~~
Mikkel gently held the back of her head against his chest with one hand, and wrapped the other around her back. As he gently stroked Bree's silky red hair, she let out a contented sigh. He smiled to himself and continued; he had never noticed how soft her hair was before today. The only thing slightly hindering his joy, that he was finally holding, in his arms, the woman that he loved, were the thoughts that kept bombarding his mind. I'm not worthy of Bree; she deserves better. How can she love me? I lead a raid on her people. I can hardly believe that she would forgive me, let alone love me and want to marry me. He felt his heart trying to free itself from the guilt that was continuously clutching at it as these thoughts filtered through his brain.
He felt a gentle breath of wind blow through his hair. The gentle wind, however, seemed to blow through more than just his hair; the breeze seemed to clear his mind and blow away those guilty thoughts that slowly were filling his mind. He was forgiven. Forgiven by Bree. Forgiven by Dev. Forgiven by Mr. and Mrs. O'Toole. But most importantly: forgiven by God. And now he had Bree; he hugged her closer and gently kissed the top of her head. He may not be in Norway…but he was home.
