A/N: Hey y'all! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter, it's a little different from what I usually write so I hope you don't mind. This is more of a "dramatic" chapter I guess but I kept it pretty short and to the point. No lemons in this one but there will be in the next chapter! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, just a fan :)
Just wanna know, is love completely off the table?
It's been two weeks since Sakura had left Kiba's apartment without a word. He'd tried to contact her many times, calling her almost every day and even coming by her apartment a few times. Sakura would always come up with excuses not to spend time with him, she was busy, tired, etc.
Sakura was growing increasingly frustrated with how relentless he was. How could she possibly get over her feelings for him if he wouldn't leave her alone? Whenever she saw him, all she wanted to do was curl into his arms and kiss him with as much passion as she could muster. However, her pride wouldn't let her do that. Instead, Sakura would just brush him off whenever he contacted her. It hurt her deep down but she convinced herself it had to be done.
Sakura sat on her couch, wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket. She was attempting to read a book but she kept finding herself lost in thought. Sakura couldn't focus and after attempting to read the same page three times, she gave up. She groaned and slammed the book shut before throwing it on the floor. Sakura pouted and crossed her arms like a child.
"I can't believe this. How could I be so stupid?" Sakura thought to herself. She's come to terms that at some point, she fell in love with Kiba. She wasn't exactly sure when it happened, but it didn't matter. All the kisses, caresses, and sweet words had added up and Sakura was in deep.
"Can I ever truly love someone again? Like the way I used to?" Sakura questioned herself. The last time she had admitted her feelings to the man she loved, she was completely betrayed by him. How could she be expected to open up to someone again? Sakura secretly craved love, but at what cost?
Sometimes, Sakura found herself in moments of weakness. She wanted to reach out to Kiba, to apologize for her lack of communication and tell him how she really felt. But her mind always found it's way back to Sasuke. He had hurt her so much that Sakura couldn't even think of letting someone else in, especially Kiba who previously had a reputation as a player. Sakura told herself she'd just be asking to get hurt.
Sakura had been content by herself for all these years. After the war, Sasuke had promised to return to the village but he never did. Sakura grew tired of waiting, especially for someone who never returned her feelings in the first place, so she moved on with her life. She had accepted that love just wasn't meant for her, not in this lifetime anyways. But then Kiba comes around and completely shakes up her world.
Suddenly, a grumble from her stomach snapped the pinkette back to reality. Sakura let out a huff, standing up from her couch and walking to her kitchen. With all the stress she's been feeling lately, she hadn't been eating much. She opened her fridge and skimmed over the food when she heard a knock at her door.
Sakura was definitely not in the mood for company right now. She was tired, frustrated, and hungry. Not to mention she didn't exactly look her best. She had no makeup to hide the bags under her eyes from lack of sleep and her hair was tied up in a messy bun. She wore black sweat pants and a white tank top, she didn't even have a bra on since she was in the comfort of her own apartment and not expecting visitors.
Sakura sauntered to the front door and grabbed the knob, opening it. Her eyes widened slightly as she instantly recognized the dog nin before her. Sakura stood quietly, trying to figure out what to say. Before she could speak, Kiba caught her lips in a hot kiss. He grabbed her waist, pulling her body flush against his.
Sakura was caught off guard, a whimper of surprise escaped her throat as Kiba attacked her lips. His warm arms held her so tight to him, Sakura missed this feeling. Her eyes closed and she mindlessly kissed him back. Her hands found their way to his brown locks, tugging lightly. Sakura's heart was beating through her chest, she wondered if Kiba could feel it.
When Kiba started running his hands up and down her body, Sakura snapped out of her daze and came to her senses. She broke the kiss and pushed him off of her. She took a step back and glared at him.
"What the hell are you doing?" Sakura questioned. She was angry. How could he just show up to her apartment like this? He hadn't said a word, just came in and started feeling her up. Maybe he really did just see her as a hook up and nothing more. Sakura felt a pang of sadness in her chest.
"Are you mad at me or something?" Kiba asked. He was genuinely confused. From his point of view, they had spent an amazing night together a few weeks ago and now Sakura wants nothing to do with him. "You've been avoiding me for weeks Sakura. I don't know what I did."
Sakura felt a little guilty for hiding her feelings from Kiba, but she refused to open herself up to rejection. She had to end it, and she had to do it now.
"It's inevitable." Sakura tried to tell herself. She looked Kiba straight in the eyes, crossing her arms. "This is it."
"You didn't do anything Kiba, I just... I can't do this anymore." Sakura admitted. Pain radiated through her chest as the words left her mouth. She watched as Kiba's brows furrowed.
"Sakura, I don't understand." Kiba said in a low voice. Traces of anger and sadness lingered in his words. Kiba was incredibly confused, he couldn't possibly understand what would make Sakura come to this decision. If he did nothing wrong then why had she been avoiding him? He needed an explanation and he wouldn't leave without one.
"Please don't make this harder than it has to be." Sakura said softly, trying to hide the cracking of her voice. She looked down at the floor, avoiding his intense gaze.
"Sakura..." Kiba whispered. His eyes softened as he took a step towards her. "Why are you doing this?"
"I just can't be around you Kiba." Sakura stated bluntly but she felt tears stinging her eyes. She quickly blinked them away, hugging her arms tighter around her body.
"How could you say that?" Kiba questioned her, hurt filling his voice. They had something so good between the two of them, what changed? "I don't want to stop being around you Sakura."
"I'm sorry Kiba." Sakura replied, her voice breaking. The tears returned to her eyes, blurring her vision. She tried to keep her face as stoic as possible but Kiba noticed the pain in her eyes.
Kiba took another step towards her. He didn't understand why she was pushing him away when she clearly cared for him. Kiba took a deep breath and slowly reached out to Sakura. He gently rested his hand on her arm, feeling her smooth skin.
"Sakura..." Kiba trailed off, his eyes filled with tenderness as her stared at the pinkette. He moved his hand from her arm to her cheek, turning her head to face him. "I love you."
Sakura's heart skipped a beat when she heard the words that left Kiba's lips. Before she could get her hopes up, her head filled with pessimistic thoughts. She told herself that he was lying, that he just wanted to get in her pants again. She told herself that even if he was being truthful, there's no way it would work out, because love simply doesn't work out for Sakura. She stayed silent, not knowing what to say.
"Sakura, I know you care about me too." Kiba stated. After all the time they'd spent together, he knew that she had to care for him on some level. He just didn't understand why she was acting like this.
Sakura closed her eyes and let herself nestle her cheek into Kiba's palm for just a moment. She wished she could encapsulate this moment forever. She cherished the feeling of his hands against her skin before gently pushing his hand away from her. She opened her eyes and looked into Kiba's.
"I think you should go." Sakura said in a soft voice. A tear threatened to fall from her eyes but she quickly wiped it away before she would allow it. "I don't want you to come back."
"Tell me you don't care about me." Kiba demanded. His hurt was turning into anger. He needed to know the truth before he could leave.
"What-?" Sakura's brows furrowed at his words.
"Tell me you don't care about me Sakura. Say it and you'll never have to see me again." Kiba spat out. His muscles tensed and he was looming over her small frame. Sakura felt fear rush through her, she'd never seen Kiba act like this towards her. She took a step back, trying to distance herself from him.
Sakura didn't want to say those words, they weren't true and she knew they would hurt Kiba. She never wanted it to come to this, but she had to protect herself. Sakura took in a shaky breath and looked Kiba in the eyes.
"I don't care about you, Kiba." Sakura said, fighting back her tears.
Kiba scoffed and nodded his head. He looked away from Sakura in disgust and backed away from her slowly. He was hurt and enraged. He'd heard what he needed to hear.
"Well, it was nice fucking you, Sakura. Don't worry about seeing me back here again." Kiba said angrily, his words brutal. He gave her a painful glare and slammed the door behind him as he exited, causing Sakura to jump.
Now that she was alone, Sakura let her tears fall freely. She hated herself for hurting Kiba. She hated that she was so scared of opening up to him. Why couldn't she trust anyone? Why did she have to be so cold? Why?
Sakura walked slowly to her bedroom, wanting nothing more than to just cry in complete solitude. She opened her bedroom door and she felt a sharp pain in her chest when she saw a fuzzy pink bear on her bed. The one that Kiba gave her. She walked to the bed and picked it up, hugging it to her chest. Sakura laid on her bed and sobbed for the rest of the evening, her mind consumed with thoughts of Kiba.
A/N: A little drama for y'all lol. Sakura's being so stupid though like girl just tell him you love him! Oh well, see y'all in the next chapter! ;)
