The first test was an X-Ray Hot shot was sitting on a table and had a heavy apron put on his front and plat put underneath his leg. His family was in the other room. The tech explained it was going to take a picture of the inside of his leg, so they could see the bones. It was over in a few minutes.
Then came time for the MRI. Hot shot got dressed in hospital PJs and got an IV put in and got scanned for metal as did his stuffed Rhino Roxy. He got to pick a movie to watch and was told he had to stay very still, he could still blink and breathe but no wiggling. Hot shot was settled on the bed feet first and laid down and had a coil that looked like a waffle that laid on his legs. Then after about 45 minutes it was over.
Then came time for the bone scan he still needed IV for that and but the bone scan only took about 5 minutes so it didn't take too long. Then the IV was taken out and he was going to get a biopsy done now.
They said the biopsy was going to be from his bone in the lower left leg. Hot shot was worried it was going to hurt but the doctors told him not to worry and that they were going to give him medicine so he won't feel a thing.

These treatments may be great at fighting cancer but they have bad side effects, you will feel sick to your stomach, feel weak, feel tired and your hair will fall out," Dr. Rhino said.

He said that hot shot needed to stay in the hospital for a while right now and may have to at other times as well. He also explained Hot shot may need treatment for months or years.

Then a bit later Dr. Rhino told each of the kids and their families that children needs central line catheters put in. This type was called a Hickman line. He told the kids that some have one access tube and others have two access tubes. This way they won't have to get so many shots for medicines or tests.
"Some kids call it a tubie or a wiggle," Dr. Rhino said with a smile.
The tube was put into each of the kids with a simply operation in it was below there collar bones and the little tubes were in their chest there was dressing bandage on the tubing.
Now each of the kids were being lead to their rooms. They saw they were on the same patient floor in the same hall and had rooms next to each other.
